Reviews for Center Apartment Hotel
Review 1:There was a laundry room on our floor, but we weren't sure if it was the shared laundry or for the cleaning staff. It was loaded with room linens and towels. We used it anyways!
Review 2:Modern. Trendy. Clean. Excellent view of the center square. Friendly staff. We were checking in late and were emailed clear instructions on how to get into our rooms. We were lucky and got parking right next to the building. There's only two spots. Location was great. Lots of places to eat and shop nearby. They have a laundry room.
Review 3:Arrived around 6. Envelope with keys on counter outside reception. Area is very popular for nightlife that goes on all night. The yelling crowds, loud muffler cars goes on all night until well after 4 AM. Virtually impossible to sleep. Now I know why they supply ear plugs placed in bathroom, which don't really help. If you are a party person or like the all night, nightlife this could be your place. If you want a good nights sleep, do not stay here or any of the other close proximity hotels or guesthouses. Stay outside the center of the city. Sadly, my worst nights' stay out of 11 nights in Iceland. All other nights elsewhere were very enjoyable. No one at reception area to complain to the next day.
Review 4:The room was clean with a nice view of city center. Very close and within walking distance to lots of restaurants. Beautiful city
Review 5:It was not a problem for me at, but some folks might have issues with having to ascend stairs.
Review 6:Excellently located self-catering apartment with good wi-fi and modern amenities. Good communication from the hosts. Well deserved 9+ rating.
Review 7:Edda is a great host - she was so warm and friendly, and gave me some good tips on sights and places to eat locally. The location is fantastic and the room was very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent too.
Review 8:Amazing apartment furnished to very high standard, very friendly staff, we arrived late however we were provided information in email with how to check in, great communication, brilliant central location.
Review 9:There was a very loud concert going on outside - couldn't get to sleep until 1 am.
Review 10:The hotel was clean and comfortable. It was well located in the very cute town of Akureyri.
Review 11:Is located across the square from a very popular (and noisy) nightclub. My husband and I both got a good nights sleep though.
Review 12:Staff was so friendly and helpful. We got excellent suggestions on what to see and do in the Myvatn area. The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable.
Review 13:None. There was some confusion at checkout but it was resolved satisfactorily.
Review 14:Maria who on reception when we arrived was very very helpful. Gave us lots of information on eating in town, things to do in the area and just generally very friendly.
Review 15:Due to close to main street, you might feel too noisy even in mid-night. Room(including bathroom) is very small and without refrigerator.
Review 16:Location is right at main street of Akureyri. Rich breakfast and staffs are very friendly and helpful.
Review 17:Noisy rooms (ear plugs supplied!), no soap, shampoo or conditioner in bathroom
Review 18:Great location in the centre of town, free parking (if space is available), modern clean room, comfortable bed, fast wifi, wonderful staff (Edda amazing), very good breakfast at a reasonable price
Review 19:Friendly , helpful owner, modern/comfy hotel room - but no kitchen which I expected for an apartment. The bar across the street is the centre of Akureyri night life so it's loud and explains why ear plugs are provided in room. Not for light sleepers.
Review 20:Old building that has been immaculately renovated. Foot noise could be an issue with inconsiderate guests
Review 21:Excellent location, middle of town next to shops and resturants. Great views of center. Good clean rooms
Review 22:Apparently, I t can be noisy. One is warned, but there were not many people, so it was quiet.
Review 23:Lovely room. great location on main square. very good and ample breakfast. Very helpful about hiking, swimming pool, etc,
Review 24:Keep in mind that there are two different locations accross the square from each other. Confirm which location you are staying at so you aren't waiting at the wrong door.
Review 25:everything was perfect !
Review 26:everything was perfect ! the Location in the middle the City, the very friendly personal and the confort in the appartment. I hope to come here again !
Review 27:Well located, modern and clean accommodations. The staff was incredibly helpful, friendly and kind and offered very good recommendations and insights for our visit. Highly recommend staying here when in Akureyri.
Review 28:Had a tough time finding the place as our GPS kept telling us to enter the main traffic circle, but one of the areas was blocked off (exactly where we needed to go). Park behind the Landsbankinn, and walk to the traffic circle. The hotel is across the street from the bank, and is a yellowy cream colour.
Review 29:Loved the central location. Allowed us to get to restaurants via a five minute walk. Fantastic receptionist helped give us some tips about the diamond circle we were driving ourselves. Can't believe we would have missed some of these beautiful locations without having spoken with her. Homemade cookies were a wonderful touch.
Review 30:Bumped my head several times on the low ceilings.
Review 31:Friendliest, most knowledgeable staff (Maria) we have ever met in Iceland. Penthouse felt like a small piece of Paris in Akureyri. Excellent.
Review 32:Parking can be difficult to find but that is expected in any city center. Aside from this, no issues.
Review 33:Excellent hotel in the middle of Akureyri. There are many great places to visit on foot. The staff is very helpful.
Review 34:My only complaint - when the sun doesn't set in the summer, really good window shades are very important! Wish it had been a little bit darker in the room. Otherwise, I loved it!
Review 35:The host was lovely! So helpful, friendly, accommodating. I loved the room. Clean, bright, comfortable. Great location.
Review 36:The power went off suddenly while using boiler and dryer ( both from the apartment) at the same time in the middle of the night.
Review 37:Kitchen facility is great!
Review 38:We were three, so the place seemed small, but good enough for two, I would say. The smallest bathroom ever. Parking was a bit of a game.
Review 39:We loved the staff, Maria in particular. Very courteous, very happy to have us as guests and very responsive. Having a reception was was really nice for coffee, breakfast, and advice. The location is fabulous, right next to the main square.
Review 40:The single rooms are quite small, and we arrived late at night so we couldn't get it straightened out until the next morning. I'd highly recommend the Center Apartment Hotel to other travelers
Review 41:The owner/ manager was extremely helpful and moved us to a larger room after a mixup (probably mine) on whether we wanted a room for 1 or 2. We were also give great recommendations for dinner in the downtown area.
Review 42:Old building, so you can ear people in the room next door, but we've been expecting this (always travel with ear plugs!), breakfast not included (extra charge), the square outside the hotel can become noisy at about 1-2am, right when the midnight sun rises up again, but nothing too bad.
Review 43:Great welcome by the great staff (always available and keen to help : need any advice? Ask them!), right in the middle of the city (within walking distance of about anything in Akureyri), modern rooms nicely decorated and quite comfortable. Had a wonderful time there, and will definitely go back again when visiting Iceland next time!
Review 44:Very small room and bathroom. Hard to move about. Very noisy. You can hear the person in the next room coughing or going to the bathroom. Not sure where the kitchen, terrace or laundry was. Breakfast included only if you pay extra.
Review 45:Easy to walk to shops and restaurants.
Review 46:Wish they had an elevator for hauling the luggage up. The staircase is steep and narrow. Breakfast is not included in their tarriffs.
Review 47:The owners were really courteous. Its located on the main square of this cute little town. The rooms were good with well equipped kitchens.
Review 48:The front desk staff was wonderful - friendly, welcoming and full of information. The room was very comfortable and the location was perfect. We were able to walk everywhere - great after many days of driving!
Review 49:Breakfast was not included and really expensive. The hotel is within walking distance to lots of breakfast places but we were use to having breakfast included.
Review 50:Location right in the center of town, staff were super friendly, rooms were so comfortable.
Review 51:The Wi-fi is not really accessible with your smart phone. If you forgot your laptop at home you are out of luck.
Review 52:It has a great location in the centre of town and near the whale watching place. The room is cozy and having smart tvs is awesome but the cable kind of gave out at a certain time of night. If you told people when this happened or if they brought a usb stick of music or media they wanted to view that would be helpful. Breakfast was great. It gave me lots of fuel for the day ahead.
Review 53:We received the warmest welcome from Edda when we arrived. She gave great recommendations on where to eat & her passion & enthusiasm for hospitality was mirrored in the impeccable state of the 2 bedroom apartment we occupied. I highly recommend staying here should you be fortunate enough to find yourself in Akureyri.
Review 54:The hallway had been freshly painted and the strong smell made us both a bit light-headed.
Review 55:Edda and her husband were extremely welcoming after a treacherous drive through a snowstorm the days before. When they found out it was our honeymoon, they surprised us with a bottle of wine, a wonderful addition to the comfortable and well-decorated 1 bedroom apartment we stayed in. Edda was wonderful to talk to, from advice for places to see and eat at in the city, to general Icelandic history and culture.
Review 56:The kitchen requires a cool logistical head to make full use of the self catering equipment - but hey we can do this!
Review 57:We loved our hosts who had lots of insight and knowledge of the local area and encouraged us to explore far and wide.
Review 58:The coffee machine in my room didn't work and the windows that you open were'nt big enough so the air was always kindy heavy.
Review 59:I loved the location and the staff, okei beds and good bathroom
Review 60:As a family with two kids 9 and 5, things were a bit cramped. Adequate amount of room, comfortable and very charming, but whenever a pull out sofa is involved things get tight. Even so we were just passing through while driving the ring and the place was great.
Review 61:Our host was fantastic. Very welcoming and helpful. Provided dinner recommendations and shopping. The owner makes these wonderful Icelandic Yule Lad dolls that are for sale in the hotel. A perfect souvenier for anyone. Much better than all the standard stuff available around town.
Review 62:Adorable top floor apartment with comfy couch, fully-equipped kitchen and a nice big dining table overlooking patio and beautiful downtown Akureyri. The manager of the property could not be nicer or more welcoming. I wish we had stayed there longer!
Review 63:The property is very well managed , clean, in a good location, and the general attitude of the owner is to make the guest as comfortable as possible .
Review 64:The hosts very kindly emailed us before we arrived to confirm everything and provide additional information. The room was very clean and we had a nice basket with a kettle and some teas provided. We booked breakfast for one of the mornings which was nice too. The view from our room was really nice as it looked out onto the square in front and we even managed to get a parking space at next to the back door too.
Review 65:The only reason I didn't give the comfort section full marks was due to the limited head space in some areas…if tall people staying might be a problem (didn't really affect us to be fair because we sadly only stayed one night…would definitely return!
Review 66:Great location, beautifully appointed with lovely views, great balcony spaces. Comfortable reception area with coffee machine and delicious homemade cookies! Breakfast available on request.
Review 67:Nothing
Review 68:Very stylish, beautifully decorated charming rooms Absolutely great owners who make you feel very welcome and looked after Easily accessible in the heart of Akureryi
Review 69:no downside to this hotel.
Review 70:excellent location, super friendly staff, very comfortable and spacious accommodations. we would easily recommend and stay again next time we visit akureyri.
Review 71:I have really nothing to report as having been bellow my expectations.
Review 72:The place is simply wonderful. The apartment is very nice and well located. To be recommended.
Review 73:We were a group of 6 so the wifi was slow at times. The shower was a bit small for some of the guys.
Review 74:Brilliant location where shops and restaurants are all just a short walk away, although the town is small. Very clean with modern decor and the apartment was spacious.
Review 75:Nothing.
Review 76:Close to the main street where the restaurants and shops are. Room was comfortable and toilet was clean. Coffee and tea making facilities in room. Strong WiFi.
Review 77:okkur fannst herbergið frekar þröngt ,hefðum alveg þegið að hafa sinnhvorn stólin til að setjast á :D
Review 78:snyrtimennskan frábær,staðsetningin og aðbúnaður góður
Review 79:First off a massive thank you to the hotel. The owners were very friendly, we got stuck due to the storm and they helped us out massively by giving us a room and welcoming us like it was our own home.
Review 80:No complaints about the hotel at all! Only wish there was a bus from the airport into town.
Review 81:Fantastic location, spotlessly clean rooms, charming reception and the best host I have ever had! I didn't want to leave. Plenty of good dining options nearby and the view from the rooms facing the square is incredible.
Review 82:I loved this B&B! We had some problems checking in but that was our fault for not getting there in time. We did manage to call the owners and they opened it up for us! They were so wonderful to work with and I took pictures of the decor because I loved it so much I want to recreate it at home! The room was spacious and our view was wonderful, looking over the town center. The bed was very comfortable and the hospitality was unbeatable! We will be back!
Review 83:Edda was so helpful. She was well informed about the area and gave us good advice about what to see and do. Hotel very clean and comfortable with en suite bathroom. Good coffee in reception. Close to everything. Would really recommend this Hotel.
Review 84:Rooms are really tiny (at least ours). We only wanted to sleep so that was no problem, but if you stay longer ask for a more spacious room!
Review 85:New, clean and modern hotel. Breakfast room is not ready yet. Location is directly in the center of Akureyri, but parking possibilities are not far away. Unfortunately this means also that the party mile is just directly in front of the hotel on weekends - BUT the staff prepared some oropax so we had a relaxing night!
Review 86:No breakfast available, but that is due to the remodel. We were there in the off season, which is just bad luck on our part.
Review 87:This is an excellent place to stay in Akureyri. It is centrally located, clean, new, and the owners are great. We felt very welcome. We arrived 30 minutes before they opened for check-in, but the owner willingly ran over from across the street to check us in. He let us park in the driveway for our stay. The whole place was recently remodeled, the fresh paint and decor were beautiful. I think we may have been the first people to stay in our room. The other owner (the wife) was so excited to meet us as we had already been there two days without meeting. She was very helpful in directing us and showing us on a map where to go and what to see. Pointing out little spots only locals know about, such as the best spot to see the lava flow.
Review 88:- only tiny windows to open - bed for two, the two others sleep in the kitchen - little bit too small for four - sometimes loud during night
Review 89:+located in the city centre +good kitchen + very nice personnel +parking not so easy + many things to see in the area, also good shopping and swimming
Review 90:please add a shelf in the bathroom to have space for a toiletry bag.
Review 91:Very nice staff, helpful. Large apartment very well equipped. Perfect to stay a couple of days in the city or around. In the center of the city near all restaurants and shops. There was a festivity during the weekend and the staff kindly provided ear buds.
Review 92:The room was really small, it was a bit hard to move around. Despite that it was a lovely room! There were not a lot of tv channels... (there were other options though with sky tv) unfortunately the other guests were a bit noisy.
Review 93:Located in the heart of Akureyri in a city house. Nicely furnished lobby, all in all high standard. The owners were friendly and helpful.
Review 94:All is perfect, but have in mind that not having a lift might be a problem for some people :)
Review 95:Clean and comfortable room in the best place in town. The staff/owner is extremely nice and helps a lot
Review 96:nothing
Review 97:We loved everything about this apartment. The rooms were spacious, staff were friendly, the beds were comfortable and the location was ideal for visiting the city.
Review 98:Small bathroom, but clean and ok
Review 99:Very Helpfull and friedly staff (vulcano flight recommendation was briljant!!) Great room Good location, try to eat at Rub23 around the corner
Review 100:I stayed in a one-bedroom apartment which is equipped with an open kitchen with dining table and a 3-seater sofa. It was great that we prepared meals and had friends gathered to eat and chat. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Do spare some time to stay at the reception area where you can have a cup of coffee and some cookies or chat with the staff and know more about Akureyri.
Review 101:Location was great. Manager was a great person - really supported us with moving and all. Quality of rooms is the best thing we saw in Iceland compared to other places with same value.
Review 102:Very small but very clean room. Faces a square and can be quite noisy at night.
Review 103:Outstanding staff, excellent location. Good value for Iceland. Free laundry.
Review 104:Fully equipped kitchen which allowed us to cook. Beautifully furnished and equipped apartment. Great beds! Wide-screen TV (though few channels that we could find). Great view over central Akureyri.
Review 105:poor sound insulation of the room (you could nearly join conversations with guests next to your room).
Review 106:Great beds, very comfy, helpful staff, central location, modern room design
Review 107:No breakfast Rooms are very small
Review 108:Location is awesome Bakery nearby is really good and affordable for breakfast Very good Italian restaurant in 5 minutes walking distance
Review 109:Strongly don't recommend to book apartment with 2 bedrooms persons if their height more 170 cm in other case you regularly will be beating by head about ceiling. Also it cannot be recommended for person with limited mobility because it is serious task to rise on 4-th floor with luggage without lift. Bedrooms are very small and one of them haven’t window.
Review 110:Ideal location in the center of the city near pedestrian area. Modern kitchen with the best equipment. Good view to the city.
Review 111:tad bit of street noise, breakfast "served at the cafe around the corner" sounds included. It is not. However, that place was good.
Review 112:Wow! Can't say enough good things. They were very helpful, the rooms were like that of a modern hotel, and we slept wonderfully! Definitely recommend!
Review 113:during the week-end the locals are pretty noisy and you will hear them in the square outside. Still great hotel, nevertheless.
Review 114:great apartment facilities, internet, couch, kitchen, tv, downtown location, staff.
Review 115:Clean room with a great view and not even expensive!
Review 116:The home baked cookies!
Review 117:Perfect place to stay in every respect. Ester and Maria were wonderful hosts.
Review 118:Stylish decoration. Staffs were very friendly. Strategic location right at the round about of the center.
Review 119:Room did not have shampoo, etc or hair dryer. Also second floor hard to get suitcase up.
Review 120:Easy to walk to eating and shopping.
Review 121:A little bit over priced. No elevator.
Review 122:A very nice apartment hotel. Good location in the downtown and super breakfast with nice service.
Review 123:Room was in rear of hotel and got the afternoon sun and was very hot when I arrived. Windows that open very small.
Review 124:Nice location. Nice staff.
Review 125:Central location. Friendly owner. Clean and nice hotel, 100 yr old historic old bank building apparently.
Review 126:Extremely small room.
Review 127:Very helpful and friendly staff. Perhaps the best locality in town.
Review 128:Front rooms are quite noisy on Friday and Saturday night.
Review 129:Location, ability to park nearby, staff excellent.
