Reviews for Ria Park Hotel & Spa
Review 1:We enjoyed the food, the accommodation and the excellent service from all the staff. Eash one was most helpful, courtesy and welcoming from the front hall porter, cleaning staff, bar staff, restaurant staff and reception staff. We will recomend the hotel to our frieds looking for some where quite and peaceful, and will be back soon.
Review 2:Bed. Asked for double but got two singles pushed together and bedding as two singles. Not very comfortable mattresses.
Review 3:Location , nice and quiet with very friendly attentive staff. After enquiring about Portuguese masters golf tournament it was a lovely surprise to find 2 complimentary tickets placed in our room.
Review 4:We found the old man at reception to be very unhelpful and ocassionally rude.
Review 5:All the staff were very helpful and attentive with exception to the older man at reception, and the man in the lounge bat.
Review 6:the spa is not staffed by the hotel and this results in a poor service with outside operatives being brought in to service clients the results are that appointments are missed or run late
Review 7:the staff and senior management were very friendly and helpful, the hotel is located at the edge of the Ria Formosa which is a protected area of land adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean there are also lots of great restaurants nearby
Review 8:Lack of signage for riding a Bicycle, the hotel should get some routes mapped out as it could be a really beneficial to guests
Review 9:the staff were really super, especially the front desk. Always ask them what to do. We went out of season , September and it was really great, the restaurants on the beach are just a short walk away. Stunning and relaxing!
Review 10:The hotel is lovely. Our room was exceptionally comfortable and spotlessly clean. Facilities are excellent and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Food was excellent. We'll definitely go back.
Review 11:The road signage in Portugal is very poor. It was an enormous challenge to find the property as our GPS in rental car was not functioning. Had it not been for several English speaking couples we might never have located the Ria Park
Review 12:The property was lovely. The breakfast more than ample.
Review 13:The beds and pillows are not comfortable - the bed is way too firm so it might be perfect if you have a back problem but for two reasonably fit people in their forties, it was like sleeping on a board. The staff at breakfast could smile a little more!!
Review 14:the Location close to beaches and restaurants Was very good and that's why we chose Ria Park. The rooms were of a good standard although the bed was not comfortable. The concierge was very helpful.
Review 15:The food in the hotel was excellent, half board, definitely worth taking this option. The staff went out of their way to ensure everything was as comfortable as possible. Would return again.
Review 16:1. With exception to free wifi, everything else the hotel charge extra and expensive prices - for the daily price charge it should include all amnities. 2. Hotel far from everything and no shuttle service available. Every trip to somewhere around is done by taxi and is expensive. 3. Tennis court charged by the hour and is in terrible conditions. Hotel don't supply decent rackets or balls.
Review 17:1. Close to a fantastic beach 2. The staff was very friendly 3. Comfortable and clean room. 4. Quiet and nice for resting.
Review 18:Being mislead by Booking.com regarding the hotels location, its Star Rating and overall quality. This was definitely not a 5* Hotel. Basic Facilities should be provided free gratis - eg ironing facilities for the foreign traveller.
Review 19:The staff were very helpful within the constraints of the hotels limitations.
Review 20:Rooms need updating with tea & coffee. Also to shut the door you have to slam it hard, so all guest can't be quiet coming in late at night.
Review 21:Friendly staff, great location with short walk to Julia's Beach..
Review 22:Everything! a very comfortable hotel, the reception staff were wonderful at organising our restaurants for evening meals and obtaining us taxi rides to an fro.
Review 23:Room beds weren't as booked. Didn't get it sorted out till the 3rd day after complaining two days before. Water in the room offered only first day without being replenished. No tissue box or water heater till requested. Should be provided by default in a 5 stars
Review 24:Great location Offer babysitting for kids
Review 25:Only slight downside is that the wifi is very hit and miss.
Review 26:Location is excellent with many fine restaurants either in walking distance or a short drive away. The beach is fabulous and the pool area is very good. The staff are very attentive and go out of their way to ensure you have a great stay.
Review 27:The wifi didn't work in the bedrooms - it only seemed to work in the lobby and I was with teenagers so it caused a problem for us.
Review 28:Lovely hotel in a great location with friendly helpful staff.
Review 29:I didn't like to pay for the hotel beach beds. Expensive drinks and not close to walk to supermarket for water etc. Hotel getting dated. Very basic gym. Slightly stuffy.
Review 30:Quiet rooms (I was on the top floor), friendly and helpful staff, near to beach and beach bars/restaurants, nice pool. Very clean.
Review 31:did not have a spa as described and advertised only a jacuzzi and Turkish bath which were both out of order on the 24 August 2015 during my stay.
Review 32:staff was very friendly
Review 33:The hotel was very small. I expected it to be much bigger. I also found the pool-side service to be quite lacking. Dirty towels were left on loungers long after guests left. Also we ordered coffees at the poolside and our cups were never cleared or collected. I also didn't like that there was no ironing service or kettle service in the bedrooms.
Review 34:The area was nice. The service was great. The wifi was excellent.
Review 35:I had visited Ria park 16 year ago and to my surprise nothing has changed. I think they've added 1 star, so right now it is 5 star. It feels dated, very tired. Plastics on the balcony-please! The pool area is awful. Except for the breakfast all of the other types of food they serve throughout the hotel are awful, too. I would not stay here again. There is no sidewalk or clear path to the beach and it takes 12-15 min.
Review 36:Breakfast is good, some staff very helpful and some less :)
Review 37:The location is excellent, the staff was very professional in helping keep your stay enjoyable. The breakfast was outstanding the variety of food was unimaginable. Would go there again!!!!
Review 38:Pool, in the morning and throughout the day, always with the busy or reserved seats. I never could have access to a chair. Toddler bed, uncomfortable.
Review 39:clean and good breakfeast
Review 40:There is free wifi but you are lucky if you are able to connect more than 2 minutes or make google maps work. Place is fantastic and you have a free shuttle to the beach, but apart from that you need to use the car for everything. You are not allowed to use the bus of the valley to go to any of the alternative places for lunch or drinks.
Review 41:Hotel is in a great area and facilities are quite good. Pool is very good. Fantastic for family holidays.
Review 42:bed not comfortable and service around pool was slow.
Review 43:Good for beach but not much else in area. Restaurants in near vicinity pricy and service slow at peak times.
Review 44:The outdoor pool was very cold and there was only one, the indoor one was even colder, there were not enough sun beds for the hotel capacity which meant you usually struggled to find an area to sit together as in our case there were 6 of us, we didn't do early towels on beds, but you could go to the beach where you had to pay 15 euros to have 2 beds and a parasol on the hotel beach area, the charge was not mentioned on the website. The turkish bath wasn't a turkish bath it was a steam room, i was looking forward to a proper Hamman which my family and i were exoecting. The hotel call blacked out window cabs for you which are twice the price of (for instance) Algarve cars, i was led to believe that the hotel get a retrospective payment for this but that's only what i was told ? The pool drinks and food service was slow when ordering from the sun beds (if you got them) and the pool bar were under pressure when they were busy at lunchtimes which meant people moaned about waiting. The lack of fresh cooking was a shame, it is good to have things cooked to order whilst you wait for instance omelettes. On the whole the location would be a plus but there was nothing "spectacular" or "special" about the hotel to make me want to stay there again and certainly nothing telling me that I MUST stay there again.
Review 45:The location is good, the shuttle bus is good, the reception, pool bar, bus driver and concierge staff were very good, Manuel Baltazar the General Manager was very friendly and excellent for customer relations. Good pool towel service. Good breakfasts, although the lack of fresh cooking was a shame, it is good to have things cooked to order whilst you wait for instance omelettes.
Review 46:The staff did NOT provide 5star service. The taxis at the hotel reception are exec cars and very expensive comparatively. The breakfast wasn't 5star.
Review 47:The hotel was clean and comfortable. The room had everything you needed, although I wouldn't say it was 5star.
Review 48:Hotel is a outdated. The rooms are not 5 star Standard. The shuttle to the beach sometimes took long time to arrive (more than 45min)
Review 49:The pool is very good,
Review 50:No tea. Or coffee facilities in room. Decor in room abut dated & tired. Pool beds dated & uncomfortable. Old fashion hair dryer in room. Room service for tea took nearly 1 hour in morning.
Review 51:The staff were excellent and the breakfast was excellent.
Review 52:Both wi-fi and business centre offer poor quality internet and applications. Both video and audio calls are not strong enough. Telephone line is not able to support calls in parallel and staff at the reception did not pick up an international call of business character (even after being alerted).
Review 53:Bedroom, swimming pool area, breakfast are of good quality.
Review 54:Rooms very dated, more 4* than 5*. Toilets at pool bar seemed grubby! The staff at pool bar were not very friendly.
Review 55:Friendy reception staff, near beach, lovely pool area with plenty of seating.
Review 56:The only thing that I found a little annoying was the connectivity of the free WIFI. I found that my iphone was regularly cut off from the WIFI and took ages to reconnect.
Review 57:I loved the hotel. The staff were really friendly and helpful, the facilities were brilliant and the rooms fantastic and comfortable. I would definitely recommend staying here
Review 58:Too far away from beach, hotel staff seems like they are fed up with doing their job. Another important point is that if you want them ypu should say you want meter-taxi, if not they call a private taxi which charges you more than twice as much as the regular tariff.
Review 59:Pool area was very enjoyable, breakfast buffet has many varities, rooms are confortable
Review 60:Dinner was over priced. Meat was tough, vegetables niggardly and would not dine there again. Staff were very pleasant.
Review 61:We have stayed a number of times. Hotel and Staff are excellent.
Review 62:Not a five star hotel. Outdated noisy rooms. Uncomfortable beds. Having to pay for the chairs at the beach. Spa area huge deception
Review 63:Pool area was nice. Friendly staff
Review 64:You will need a car a little remote, be careful to ask if they have any corporate events and weddings on as that's what they cater for those delegates tend to take over the facilities including the pool
Review 65:Our 12th visit back again next year super service
Review 66:A bit disappointed with the Restaurants menu, need to offer a variable menu instead of the same every night of the week, also a bit pricey for what you get.
Review 67:The hotel,staff and facilities.
Review 68:Wifi was poor in rooms and some entertainer In the evenings would of been nice as the hotel lacked atmosphere in the evenings Coffee making facilities and an iron in the room Would be good
Review 69:Location to the beach is 5 minutes walk no need to wait on shuttle buses, every restaurant we are at on the beach was fantastic, highly recommend Julia's and Izzys that are in walking distance.fantastic English breakfast at the hotel and very friendly helpful staff but you do need a car for this location to get anywhere
Review 70:i honestly can't think of anything we didn't like.
Review 71:Location is superb. Beach shuttle bus was available whenever we needed it. Staff are extremely helpful, friendly and courteous. Buffet breakfast was first class.
Review 72:They have a large list of facilities listed on the site but almost all of them are not easily accessible so we couldn't play tennis or go horse riding(these are paid facilities which are not in the property). Only the pool, spa and table tennis tables were in the property. Not recommended if traveling without vehicle.
Review 73:The hotel staff are extremely nice, friendly and accommodating. Ideal place for relaxing! very clean and comfortable room :) And had a free shuttle to the beach is very convenient.
Review 74:Nothing.
Review 75:The Hotel facilities are excellent, various places to relax, my favourite was the balcony at the lobby bar (club sandwich and sangria was perfect after arriving around midnight on Friday), I used the spa and gym as well - all excellent. The proximity to the beach and the beach is fantastic. I can't fault the staff they were always willing to help, nothing was to much trouble.
Review 76:Accommation not in main hotel where dining and pool facilies situated. The hotel lacked atomosphere, and was only busy when conferences taking place. The cooked breakfast was always cold, and looked unappetizing. The gym and health facilies always closed. Location of the hotel which was few miles from main road and nearest town meant a car was needed.
Review 77:Pool area lovely with plenty of seating. Staff lovely, facilies and grounds kept beautifully. Continential breakfast was good. There was a hotel shuttle bus to take you to beach aprox 10mins drive away.
Review 78:The pool facilities, the Internet was non existent, the breakfast left a lot to be desired, the parking facilities
Review 79:The rooms were ok but nothing to boast about
Review 80:We booked a room in the hotel. Unfortunately were were transported to a satelite building Block D. This was a 4-5 minute walk to the hotel for breakfast and to use the facilities. Block D has its own pool and poolside bar. Unfortunately these were niether open nor cleaned. On the first friday of our stay all the people staying in the main hotel building were transfered to another hotel until the monday. This was to allow a large company to take over the hotel completely for the weekend on some sort of team building event. We became second class clients over that weekend. 400 people from this company just took the place over. Breakfast was more like a works canteen with dirty plates and table clothes left everywhere and know where for us paying clients to sit.To the rear of block D there are tennis courts and a playing field. These wre taken over by this company where large climbing towers were erected for team building activities. There was death slides, Bungee running inflatable in one tennis court, Inflatable football pitch in another tenniss court and several other activity sections. The noise and screaming was excessive as were the air horns used to start and stop each activity. This was supposed to be our chill aniversary holiday. When they left on the monday it did get a little better but obviously a bad taste was left.
Review 81:The hotel was clean, Most of the staff were polite and helpful . The breakfast was very good as were the poolside bar meals.
Review 82:I can not say that we had any bad experience at all what pleased me was the pillows were a bit small for me and my wife as I am 6ft 4inches and we had to put the Spare blanket under the pillows to raise them when I returned to to room later in the day the cleaner had seen what we had done and went and got us another pillow each without us having to ask so well done to them
Review 83:I imagine Although you possibly prefer it packed at the time we stayed from 23rd may for a week we were fortunate with the weather and the fact that Ria Park hotel was not Rammed full we had great service Room round the pool I got up in the morning to go for a Run down to the Beach at 6am always a sincere Good morning sir from the Reception Desk
Review 84:There was no wifi reception at the swimming pools. The indoor pool is not accessible with a pram (many stairs) and the water is quite cold. The children's pool was not so clean. And most importantly: there are not enough AC outlets in the room. The bathroom did not have an outlet at all, and in the room itself there was only one outlet (in use by a lamp), so I had to shave while sitting on the floor and we could not decently charge our phones and iPads.
Review 85:It is a quiet hotel with a big swimming pool, surrounded by beautiful gardens. Wifi is quite fast. Breakfast is great and the staff are very friendly and attentive.
Review 86:The staff just couldn't do enough for you, they were all so helpful and friendly! The location is fantastic, the food was delicious and pool area was wonderfully clean.
Review 87:Staff in pool area need to sharpen up their act. Slovenley attitude at pool bar from young staff. Crockery and glasses left at poolside. Shame, they let down the rest of the Hotel staff who had the opposite attitude. Trip coincided with the European Pool championship tournament. Hotel was full of the players and entourage. They did take over. Not the fault of the Hotel: obviously.
Review 88:Clean, great staff close to beaches, restaurants. Good pool area.
Review 89:Indoor pool very minimal with no proper changing facilities and have to go outside to get to it. Spa was being repaired and not welcoming. Internet acces very poor and not useable much of the time.
Review 90:Good position with nice room. Good breakfast. Excellent staff and cleanliness.
Review 91:The hotel is in a quiet residential area and there is no public transport available. There is a courtesy bus to the beach but otherwise taxi's have to be used which can become expensive.
Review 92:The food/beverages and service. Very clean and comfortable. An impressive entrance and reception area.
Review 93:Nothing
Review 94:Everything was great from the location, to the staff, to the facilities and good value for money too. Particularly liked the breakfasts and the pool area which was so peaceful and relaxing. Have stayed here four times now and will return next year for sure1
Review 95:equipment in the fitness area need attention and updating
Review 96:staff were very attentive and helpful quality of the breakfast and pool side bar food was excellent great sport channels on tv will certainly return again
Review 97:The evening fare in the restaurant wasn't as enticing as it might have been.
Review 98:Fantastic location away from the crowds but within 15 - 20 minutes stroll of a few beach restaurants. The staff were extremely helpful and courteous.
Review 99:rugs in room were extremely smelly and rather old, some shelves were very dusty, noise from the neighbours, restaurant evening food only ok
Review 100:quiet location, big pool, breakfast
Review 101:The sheets were not as smooth as I would expect in a five star. The beach area was a little far to walk and the attendant didn't know where I could find a shower nearby- so we had to use our drinking water to rinse off. Taxi transfers were expensive about 35 euros each way.
Review 102:The facilities were very good and the pool was fun to use. The food was of a good standard too. There were other restaurants in walking distance by the beach and they were adequate. The best restaurant was the Thai Garden ( a little further to walk) but worth it!
Review 103:if you go to the beach, loungers and shade are charged. Considering cost of hotel per night this seemed rather mean.
Review 104:walking distance to beach and the nice casual bars/restaurants of Garrao Beach Pool at hotel is also lovely -quiet, cool in places if desired. Plenty of towels provided anmd drinks not too expensive.
Review 105:The area of private beach that is part of the hotel charges 15 euros for 2 sunbeds+sunshade for a day (9 euros 4-7pm) whereas it used to be free for guests.
Review 106:The staff were all very welcoming and accommodating e.g. no qualms over letting us have our room until the evening after check out so we could be at the beach/pool before our late flight. They have a frequent shuttle bus to the beach (an easy 10min walk - but uphill slightly- or 2min bus ride). The beach is lovely, very clean with views over the ria formosa. There are a number of great restaurants on stilts along the beach. The best is Dos Passos for lunch (book ahead!!!). The facilities are lovely with a big pool an plenty of towels. No one reserves beds at 5am either! The breakfast is one of the best hotel breakfasts I have had - plenty to choose from and all fresh and homemade. We settled in extremely quickly and found it very relaxing. The dinner at the hotel is very nice and they also give plenty of recommendations for restaurants not just on the beach front but lovely ones inland.
Review 107:Was expecting a kids center, but they told us it is not active before July. That wasn't what we expected from a 5 star hotel, and with 4 small kids combined for 3 families, the kids center was a decision making point for us. They should have found a solution, but instead just told us it opens in July (we were there mid June) Also, the elevator didn't open automatically when we tried holding it. Once our stroller got stuck between the door and the frame and two of us were in the elevator while two were out behind the stuck stroller. Our 5 year old son was terribly scared, cried a lot. He is unfortunately scared of getting on elevators after this vacation.
Review 108:Location and the facility overall was good. It is built in a very upscale town, with lots of architectural
Review 109:Influx of 'Easy Jet' passengers due to cancelled flight!
Review 110:Location, facilities, staff. All meals in restaurant - wide variety all excellently prepared and presented.
Review 111:This was a lovely hotel for fly and flop- the staff were so lovely and could not enough for the guests- I loved the food and the location- just what you need to relax- will be going back !
Review 112:loud French people in adjoining room
Review 113:Everything
Review 114:A little over priced
Review 115:Cleanliness and comfort
Review 116:we were put in a diffrent hotel great room great hotel
Review 117:I found this hotel v comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Review 118:Excellent breakfast.
Review 119:Hotel staff and service were excellent. Would definitely reccomend getting up for breakfast.
Review 120:the spa was not open
Review 121:staff at the reception were excellent
Review 122:Been before excel ant as always
Review 123:Just the location , was a bit far out
Review 124:The staff were excellent and that makes all the difference
Review 125:Good restaurant Polite English speaking staff
Review 126:nothing really
Review 127:Breakfasts, pool, bed, staff
Review 128:Not as central to the Praia and could do with a shuttle bus to Praia and local golf courses.
Review 129:Great staff, facilities and food
Review 130:The staff were very helpful and pleasant.
Review 131:spa facilties disappointing
Review 132:very friendly and efficient staff
Review 133:some of the staff(male older) were a bit grumpy
Review 134:nice modern hotel but lacked a bit of the personal touch
Review 135:Decoration in the bedroom. Please paint the walls white at least?
Review 136:Pool, Gardens, Location, Easiness, Breakfast, Staff.
