Reviews for Devereaux Shields House
Review 1:What a delightful place to stay! My family of 3 stayed in Aunt Clara's Cottage and it was a beautifully appointed room with heaps of space to spread out. The veranda was a lovely spot to sit with a drink after our day of driving. The full service breakfast was the icing on the cake of our enjoyable overnight stay, the French toast was divine. Heading to Natchez then this should be your accommodation destination!
Review 2:The hospitality from Ron, Eleanor & staff is first class. Great location, beautiful rooms with great amenities and very reasonable prices. 2 minute drive from the heart of Natchez. Would most definitely stay here again.
Review 3:Did not provide cheese with wine as advertised. Had to ask for advertised drinks. Central air conditioning very cold and unable to control for individual room.

Review 8:Cleanliness could have been better (we found lots of hairs in the bathroom) Breakfast: very tasty, but I still felt a bit hungry after + at 8.30 AM which was a bit late for us Location: not really a quiet street (for Natchez anyway)
Review 9:Charming B&B with lovely rooms (we had a room in the Aunt Clara's Cottage, which is just a little less charming than the main house) Feeling of the old South when you're rocking your chair on the porch Free soda and water, tea and coffee (though the cokes were quicky gone and not restocked) Very friendly and helpful owners, they make you feel right at home
Review 10:Quiet location Beautiful house Front porch rocking chairs Friendly owners and staff Southern style breakfast Excellent restaurants in Natchez Complimentary soft drinks and nibbles
Review 11:Nothing. Everything was great.
Review 12:Everything. The hospitality of Ron and Eleanore, the charming southern house, the porch, the breakfast, the beautiful interior. Everything is perfect in the smallest detail. What also stands out is that despite this being an old house, it is in perfect shape, modernized where appropriate, and really clean. We highly recommend this B&B to anyone staying in Natchez and hope to be back some day.

Review 40:I have always wanted to visit Natchez and I finally got the chance. I've always had such an impression that visiting Natchez would include: Southern hospitality, graciousness and warm conversation. Our trip, which was primarily centered around Devereaux-Shields, went beyond "delivering" on my expectation. We arrived at night to the invitingly warm and candlelit (I don't mean candles inside...I mean outside) comfortable and beautiful, old-fashioned 'grandmas house'. For me, grandma's house is one of the best attributes I can give, because for me it bespeaks deep-down feelings of comfort. There were thoughtful touches everywhere: in our bedrooms, bathroom, public rooms where furniture is situated to afford lovely conversations, and even at the breakfast table where we dined on a delicious meal complete with homemade biscuits and freshly-squeezed orange juice. Finally, the owner/ hostess Eleanor, spoke with us and made sure that we could get the most out of our visit to Natchez. If I'd even written a prescription for what I hoped for from my trip to Natchez, I couldn't even have known all of these Devereaux-Shields' details ahead of time which made our stay perfect.
