Reviews for B&B De Prince
Review 1:Firstly, thine place was disgusting. The bedding was filthy and even had blood stains on it. The wifi wasn’t working at all. I was placed right next to the bathroom and I heard everything that was going on there, even the one couple having intercourse. The walls are so thin and the people are so loud I couldn’t even sleep. The bathroom was just as dirty with dirt marks all over the walls and floors. It felt like I was staying in a student hostel. This was the worst experience Ive ever had in a hotel or BnB
Review 2:Nothing
Review 3:During my stay, some of the staff insisted that they had to clean the windows from the inside even though I was in the room; The bathroom and toilet were cold, because there was no heater inside.
Review 4:Great room - cheapest in this price range; spacious; there was a kettle and plenty of tea and coffee Great WIFI in the room - no signal cutoffs Great breakfast at the Beans&Bagels cafe
Review 5:Poky, charmless room with chipped low quality furnishings, no storage, kettle did not work, very steep entry staircase.
Review 6:Central location, quiet, good breakfast, breakfast cafe staff, overall cleanliness, price, skylight view of rooftops.
Review 7:The cafe at breakfast time was so busy I did not get served at all with a hot drink and had to leave to catch a train. It was chaos. the staff were completely overworked and could not cope with so many people.
Review 8:Clean and quiet
Review 9:- A lot of stairs and very small. For me not a problem, but for older people maybe it could be!
Review 10:- Very good location: close to the train station & city centre. - The breakfast is good also (is served inside a Bagels & Beans). - The staff was very nice in every moment.
Review 11:Pillows are bulky and uncomfortable. Wifi pretty poor in our room.
Review 12:Breakfast is amazing, downstairs at Bagels and Beans - free bagels/toast (incl gluten free), hot drinks, juice, fruit salad, cereals. In a good location a short walk from train station and right in best part of town. Nice decor inside.
Review 13:The noice from other guests and the smell that came from the radiator in the room.
Review 14:Really liked the modern interiour, the easy to use jacuzzi and the nice looking bathroom. Also liked the location, near everything, cheap parking place nearby. Breakfast in Bagels & Beans, different than usual.
Review 15:Bit noisy but that's more to the guests as they also could notice that wooden floors etc do crack but do not pay attention to it, later they complain it was noisy!!!!!!!
Review 16:Be aware that rooms are spread over separate buildings and can NOT be accessed by car. There is NO parking and the website is misleading. Parking is not near and not easy to find - and expensive! De Prince is totally unsuitable for older people travelling by car - lugging suitcases up typically Dutch narrow and steep stairs is a real problem. Our room was neat and clean but smallish, cold and not that well thought out. If you don't mind walking to (a decent) breakfast and are fit enough to carry your luggage to 'reception', thence struggle to take it to your room, then the central location will be to your liking.
Review 17:Historic Dutch house with tons of character,- a rare find these days, the location in the city center very convenient, and the breakfast excellent. Will gladly return if the opportunity presents itself.
Review 18:Couldn't stay longer..
Review 19:This is the sort of place to stay, plenty of character, it's right in the heart of the real city, cobbled streets, no cars, cyclist busying them shelves, fantastic restaurants with in yards, smell of fresh bread wafting in the windows in the mornings, the streets have quiet sleepy mornings, breakfast was a treat every morning, staff very friendly, i stayed for a week, when away and came back for one more night, (was supposed to stay in a plush hotel out of town). i stay 200 plus nights in hotels and will be back to stay here next time i'm with in an hours drive.
Review 20:- very noisy, between 12pm and 5am there was a constant barrage of people coming back from going out, screaming in the street, and since the room doesn't have double glazing you can hear everything. When we told this to the staff they replied that this was normal for the weekends. You can also clearly hear other people arriving and or leaving the hotel. - wifi didn't really work well. - uncomfortable pillows.
Review 21:Room was big enough. Location is right in the centre of Nijmegen. Breakfast was great, and is served until 12.
Review 22:WIFI didn't work in the room. Was made aware when I arrived that you can request early breakfast to be delivered to your room - I asked one of the staff for this but it was never delivered, so no breakfast on day 1. Although the rooms are lovely and very comfy, did not sleep well due to people coming into the building and shouting in the corridors at 1.00 - 3.00 in the morning 2 out of the 3 nights I was there. Not De Prince's fault exactly but wasn't a great experience.
Review 23:Very nice room, decorated really nicely and very very comfortable! Breakfast at Bagels and Beans is nice, staff are friendly and approachable. De Prince has several buildings scattered on a street close to the centre of town which is very useful.
Review 24:- Quite bad sound isolation, both with respect to the neighboring street as well as concerning other rooms. - Fairly minimalist equipment of the bathroom.
Review 25:- Good location with a few nice restaurants and/or bars nearby. - Nice breakfast in the associated Bagels & Beans coffee bar.
Review 26:Room was very small which led to some layout oddities, but not really a problem.
Review 27:Great location, nice room, and a good breakfast. If I ever go back to Nijmegen, I would definitely stay again!
Review 28:Mattresses quality is poor, which is a pity and should not be in this otherwise very nice B&B property !!
Review 29:Very nice location, heart of the city, nice and spacious room, very light. Breakfast at Bagels and Beans very good and well served. Some minor issues with the room were immediately attended to.
Review 30:I left before 8 on the final morning, but the promised packed breakfast did not materialise.
Review 31:Radio channels available on the television. Good breakfast in Bagels and Beans. Friendly and efficient staff.
Review 32:the fan was very wobbly, the heat did not work, the pillows were very lumpy and uncomfortable
Review 33:the room was large for Europe, the floor was not carpeted, shower was good size
Review 34:The stairs are extremely steep and the room was smaller than expected
Review 35:the availability of the staff, the quality of the breakfast, the style and cleanness of the room
Review 36:The lights in rooms 2-3 did not work and when we went down to see the receptionist there was no one about to help us. And maybe a bigger sign of the hotel would be better to be easier to find
Review 37:Hotel was great shower was fantastic breakfast was just excellent and the town and surrounding areas were beautiful
Review 38:Unfortunately in my room there was a constant noise likely caused by an air conditioning system that bothered me during the sleep. However other people may be less sensible that me about it, and I don't know if other rooms are different.
Review 39:I arrived late at night, but the staff was available to give me the room key. The room was very nice and clean, the street is one of the most charming in old Nijmegen and the breakfast was amazing!
Review 40:Noise inside the hotel and on the streets was very loud because of the old walls/windows Old,ugly and very very small room NUMBER 1 Breakfast would have been so much nicer if also by menu as the regeular customers. Almost no bagels available..!
Review 41:Some of their rooms are with shared bath facilities; if you do not want this you will need to book a slightly higher priced room.
Review 42:The coffee at breakfast is a damn good one...
Review 43:The stair access is dangerous and should be mentioned prior to someonebeing allocated a room being accessed from it. Stored material adjacentto the room entrance door should be removed. We felt that the room wasnot clean, there is a cob web dangling from the ceiling, and the top ofthe tv was covered in dust.4) Due to the construction of the ceiling/floor foot traffic and normal level talking from the above room was a constant source of annoyance particularly when trying to get some rest or sleep. The picturesque view from the window consisted of a plastic cup with cigarette ends in it, and the hardly picturesque garden. The fire exit at first floor level is obstructed with stored material. The toilet roll holder obstructs access to the WC and should be relocated. The external light switch did not work and wires are exposed, dangerous in the dark, or at anytime for that matter. When I complained next morning the owner was not keen to speak to me on the phone and the staff didn't really care about how I had been treated. Since coming back to Scotland I have tried e-mailing but have had only one reply which said he (ROY) needed sometime to examine my complaint. That was two weeks ago!!!!!!!
Review 44:Location, nothing else!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review 45:the front room we stayed in was very noisy, being right by the street but our friends at the back had no noise.
Review 46:The breakfast was excellent and the accommodation very nicely done
Review 47:The stairs to room 13 were very steep. I was OK, but for unfit people it might have been a problem particularly with suitcases. A small fan in the room would have been nice. The room was very hot and only had small windows so a fan would have helped to get air moving.
Review 48:Lovely location, right in the middle of Nijmegen. Easy to walk everywhere. Room very good and comfortable.
Review 49:Don't have the basement room, which has a spa bath etc. It is very damp, in a cellar with no windows. My friend had an upstairs room which is much better, and cheaper.
Review 50:Very central location
Review 51:No communal lounge space besides the cafe. It felt a little expensive for what it was.
Review 52:Location, friendliness of star. Clean. View from the top of the building along the high street.
Review 53:It's in town centre which means there is no free parking space. I paid 5.10€ for two hours (19-21). Still had to schlepp for 10 Minutes to the B&B. There is no real reception, a guy opened a door and gave me a key and sent me to a different building. Then had to climb 2 really steep and high stairs (think ladders, really). Thank god I didn't have a suitcase. I don't know what they're thinking turning old houses like that into a place for guests to stay. Stayed in a tiny room below the roof. Felt alienated.
Review 54:It's located close to the river. It was not too expensive.
Review 55:If you have a lot of luggage, beware: the street is closed to traffic, and so a taxi can't get that close (1 1/2 blocks?), and you must carry your luggage up narrow Dutch staircases to get to your room. The place is walking distance from the train station.
Review 56:The room was clean and comfortable, spacious enough and bright. The bathroom and shower were fine. It's located in a very nice part of town with great street strolling and a nice park nearby. Breakfast is at a nearby cafe, and it is "mid-range" for hotels in the Netherlands in terms of variety. The cafe does have good organic options, though and was a nice place for lunch and coffee.
Review 57:Well, I ordered room with own bathroom. As i arrived, owner told me that bathroom was other side of corridor. Allright...Place was also really noisy, because the restaurants on the street and partying neighbours, who didn't stop singin' and screaming until morning. Cannot recommend this one.
Review 58:Breakfast was good.
Review 59:The hotel is on shopping street very good location but too noisy from drunk people at late night. Also in the morning when they clean street and loading stuffs, products for shops and restaurants!! Except this situations all perfect!!!
Review 60:Location is perfect!! Nice room. Clean!! Very nice breakfast!!
Review 61:You do not play the music of Amira the winner of Holland's got talent as she comes from Nijmegen I would have hoped this would be played in the bean and bagel. Will be back soon.
Review 62:The staff the food and the place.
Review 63:Room was above street and noisy through every night. Stairs narrow steep and two flights
Review 64:Room was comfy and spacious. Location was good and bad. On the main street leading to Grote Markt. Fun shopping and good food available. Close to railway station. Excellent breakfast at Bagels and Beans included in price.
Review 65:First morning began with fire alarm. Reported that staff was smoking. They did not know how the call the FD. Had to ask for towels, toilet paper. Room was not cleaned. Restaurant staff was helpful, but no one else.
Review 66:This is a wonderful location on Nijmegen's oldest shopping street.
Review 67:Fantastic value for money. Room 3 was a good size, peaceful and bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was simple, shower nice and powerful. Good breakfast. Will definitely book again
Review 68:VERY steep stairs (don't try them with a large suitcase) and one afternoon some techno music throbbing through the building from somewhere
Review 69:Beautiful large immaculate room with large windows all along one side looking out over the pedestrian street below. Great healthy simple breakfast. Right in the centre of where you want to be - the old town, no cars allowed, many many friendly cafés and terrasses
Review 70:The pillow was too high and hard- Parking is too expensive (maybe B&B should have an agreement with local authority for a lower price)
Review 71:Room was very spacious: beds were comfortable and there was a big shower. Staff was really nice and cleaning was perfect! Breakfast was at the cafè downstair and I loved it!
Review 72:Wifi did not work when we arrived. We complained about this, but when we left 4 days later, it still did not work. The stairway to our room was extremely steep. Not so nice to climb with a suitcase.. And I guess almost impossible to climb for elderly people, or people traveling with infants.
Review 73:The breakfast was really nice (bagels, fruit, eggs, ..)
Review 74:No heating in the bathroom so very very cold to take a bath or a shower. No replacement of the towels and not enough toilet paper. Light very poor in the bathroom.
Review 75:The location, the breakfast, the bed, the cleanliness, the price.
Review 76:Maybe, a little bit expensive but it uses to happen in all Netherlands, I guess.
Review 77:They waited us at night even the check in finishes at 22.00, we came by bus from Dusseldorf Weeze The room was really good and comfortable, clean and very good located The breakfast included, in the cofee next to the hotel is amazing =)
Review 78:Only public parking available (about 5-10 minutes walk) My room was so cold even that the heaters were running.
Review 79:Super WIFI Nice staff Loved the breakfast
Review 80:Some breaks in WiFi connections. Perhaps the router needs improvement.
Review 81:Everything great and easy. Very helpful staff. Great location. Coffe&tea available in the room. Nothing to complain. Highly recommendable.
Review 82:Noise (stairs, doors, street) Parkingprices were confusing: regular price was 2,5€/hour. There was an option for a visitorspermit (what?) which made it 7 times cheaper than the normal price.
Review 83:Perfect location, friendly and helpfull staff, clean and decent room
Review 84:1. Bed is a bit small, but compared with the price paid and rm size, it's acceptable. 2. In day time, may be because of water supply or what, the rm is shaking sometimes.
Review 85:This price in NL, considering the facility in a signle rm, cleaness, quiet, nice staff and what is very important, a very good but free breakfast which could cost 10Euros, I just recommend.
Review 86:The location is good for me because it is close to a great record store: Vinyl Archief. I love to shop for music, especially LPs. There is also another record store nearby called Waaghals. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 87:The bed was a bit soft. The room was a bit cold, heating wasn't good enough.
Review 88:Excellent breakfast at Bagels & Beans included. Excellent location.
Review 89:The sink is too small and the toilet is too close to the wall. Others have mentioned the stairs are steep and I agree.
Review 90:Complimentary breakfast was wonderful especially with fresh squeezed juice. The cleanliness, location and wi-fi is terrific. I would stay there again if I ever go back as a solo traveler.
Review 91:Room wasn't cleaned even once during my stay. Towels or teacups were not changed. Wifi cut out a lot especially when trying to work at night
Review 92:good breakfast, friendly staff, central location. peaceful and quiet room
Review 93:Excellent location, very short walk from Nijmegen station, easy to find and very close to local amenities, pubs, shops etc all on the same street. Despite travelling in Autumn was more than comfortably warm in the room, shared shower and bathroom but these were excellent facilities, kept spotlessly clean.
Review 94:A staff member received us holding a post-it with 3 names on it, asking who of them we were (we booked 2 rooms for 2), he "ticked" our names and that was all the check-in. We asked in the booking process to be in close rooms, not only we weren't but we were in different buildings. Our room had shared toilet, the toilet paper was replaced only once a day, so we run off it quite fast and after the breakfast service closes, you didn't know where to find any stuff member to ask for it. The room was a bit dirty, there was a spider web covered in dust hanging from the roof lamp. The mattress was too soft and uncomfortable. The doors and walls allowed all the sounds to be listened, so it was quite difficult to sleep. Furthermore, if you were in a different building from the one where the breakfast is served, you are not able to use the Wi-Fi since you don't have the pass (every building has a different connection and the codes are in the room, but only the ones belonging to your building). The day we left, the stuff forgot to ask for the room key, so when we realized, we had to go back. In my opinion, the price was too much for the room and services offered, I would never repeat the experience.
Review 95:It was well located, quite close to the Grotekerk, and just 10 minutes away walking from the station and the city centre (restaurants, shops...). The breakfast was complete, a bit of everything.
Review 96:Was cool and couldn't seem to be able to turn on the heat. Very steep stairs.
Review 97:The room was spacious and comfortable. the staff were very helpful including helping with the luggage. central location for visit to "bridge too far" sites
Review 98:Room #11 is in the roof... and the stairs to get up there are quite stiff. I would not recommend this very room to seniors. The WiFi password displayed in the room was outdated.
Review 99:The breakfast with natural, fresh orange juice, fresh fruit salad and a large choice. Room #11 is in the roof: this has charm.
Review 100:There is no lift and I had minor problems getting my suitcase up two flights of steep Dutch stairs. That was the only thing I didn't like though - and it was managable.
Review 101:What a lovely little B&B. I stayed in a small, but well equipped room, with kettle, comfortable bed, sink and shared bathroom, all clean and in great condition. The B&B is right in the middle of a small shopping road without cars, so it's quiet yet you're in the center. It's only a 10 minute walk from the station too.
Review 102:There was a used condom in the bedside table drawer and the sheets had rusty coloured stains on, like blood.
Review 103:The breakfasts were lovely, very friendly staff
Review 104:Close under the roof I got lots of noise during a rainy stormy night from the window in the roof. But I guess this is exceptional.
Review 105:Location is great, groovy old city center, close to the river The housing is very nice, apartments in old buildings, well maintained, modern fit. Breakfast is great - lovely to sit on the terrace early morning - excellent coffee, nice breads & cheese
Review 106:We stayed in the wellness suite, which was basically the basement room/cave. The room had a sauna, spa bath and shower cabin to use, but it was a cold dark and damp room directly underneath the cafe. It was noisy and not comfortable.also there was a leak each time we used the shower. Unable to change rooms as they were fully booked.
Review 107:Lovely breakfast, available from 8-12 noon.
Review 108:* The main negative point was the noise. The location is great, but it is on a street containing many bars/pubs/restaurants. Because of this, doubled with the fact that the windows were only single-glazed and quite thin, the noise is loud in the room until midnight most nights. I use earplugs, but I could barely hear the TV some evenings. * Another linked problem is the lack of air conditioning. It was 27 or 28C when I visited, and so I HAD to have the windows open. Because of this, the noise was even louder. * Check in a little confusing. There are several buildings with the B+B sign hanging above them on the same street. You actually have to go into the Bagels and Beans cafe to check in, and one of the waitresses will help you out! The reception desk was empty during the whole stay, and the lovely young ladies helped whenever I needed anything. * The WiFi cut out every hour or so for 30 seconds before reconnecting. A minor thing, but annoying nonetheless. * The bathroom was a little smelly, and when I flushed the toilet, water came out of a vent in the floor! Not too hygienic!
Review 109:* The location was fantastic, on one of the main central shopping streets in Nijmegen. * The railway station is only a comfortable 10 minute stroll through a lovely park. * 2 minute walk from the banks of the Waal river. Great for boat spotting! * Amazingly friendly young ladies in the adjoining cafe. * Good WiFi, but with a downside. * Breakfast simple but tasty.
Review 110:...but the staircase is a killer for elderly or infirm guests
Review 111:Several, very different apartments -- this one at the housetop is fun with its visible beams and slanting walls.
Review 112:Room wasn't serviced during our 3 night stay - by the end of our stay we were very low on loo roll!
Review 113:Location Décor Friendly staff at Bagels and Beans
Review 114:difficult to contact reception out of shop hours. Narrow corridoors and stairs to some rooms
Review 115:the location was in a pedestrian precinct in a pleasant location. There is secure garage parking for cycles and motorcycles without charge. breakfast good in neighbouring coffee bar
Review 116:We had a room upstairs and carried some heavy suite cases with us. So by stairs for us it was ok, but keep in mind for older people and heavy luggage ask the personnel of the B&B or carry only light suitcase
Review 117:Nice Room Clean Good bathroom Nice in the centre of the city Perfect breakfast! +++
Review 118:Hard to reach by car, no parking, small room, the sink is in the room and if you want to shave or put on make up you don't get enough light so you must improvize(I used the lamp). The stairs are extremely steep so if you have a heavy luggage i wouldn't recommend it. Breakfast is served only from 8:00.
Review 119:The b&b is located in the center of the city, clean room, good breakfast.
Review 120:Parking is paid - no surprise in a city center location of course...
Review 121:Great city center location in the oldest shopping street of the Netherlands. Very comfortable rooms, modern, recently renovated with comfortable beds. Breakfast until noon at Café Bagel & Beans is great for a relaxed start of the day. Friendly staff.
Review 122:One day WiFi was out - but back up the next day.
Review 123:Location was great - very close to lots of shops and good places to eat (walk or bike). The room is small, but has all you need - cozy is a good description. Sharing a bathroom was no problem. Bagels & Beans was a solid place for breakfast and great coffee - the staff are terrific. I especially liked the fresh squeezed OJ WiFi was good and the evenings were relatively quiet for getting a good nights sleep - the weekends (Fri & Sat) tended to a little louder
Review 124:This is not really a B&B as such; it's a set up where there arerooms in separate buildings up & down the street. The street is ashopping street so there is associated noise.Check in is at a cafe, which closes very early, so if you have any problems outside normal hours, you are on your own...except for an automated telephone service which ultimately gives you options to make a booking, or report a fire but not to speak to anyone. BREAKFAST: is at a 'bagel' cafe on the same street where the rooms are. Breakfast was very disappointing; one bagel (dry, tasteless, budget quality), a glass of orange juice, and a cup of coffee is not my idea of breakfast. NO LATE CHECK IN: I arrived late & couldn't find anyone on the premises & no one answered the phone. So i had to find another hotel. I wasn't too happy about that, but to their credit they didn't charge me for that night. ROOM: no bedside reading lamps. Bathroom: no ventilation, no floor towel. Fragile toilet seat.
Review 125:Garage parking for my motorcycle. Late check out 12pm.
Review 126:Pillows
Review 127:Nice quiet airy room in the attic (room 7 main building). Breakfast with good coffee, bagels, freshly squeezed juice. Nice location in pedestrian area
Review 128:The bar on the other side of the street was noisy with customers yelling and laughing loud until after 02:00 am. This is not the hotel's fault of course, but it did ruin my sleep. Otherwise, nothing to complain about.
Review 129:Perfectly renovated old dutch building (we stayed in the attic on the opposite site of the street, room 21 on No 55). The room had everything a modern hotel room must contain, in a house that must have been over 200 years old. Wi-Fi was incredibly fast and reliable. The breakfast (in the beautiful caffe) was just right and the staff was friendly and always with a smile (you rarely see a genuine smile nowadays).
Review 130:Weird stairs, bed for two was two singles together
Review 131:Awesome breakfast and cool position. Late check in with no problems (1.30 AM). Tea and coffee in the room. Rooms on first floor are not that cool as on the second one, go there if you can choose.
Review 132:WiFi was a bit hit and miss (but free) Breakfast didn't start until 8AM
Review 133:Certainly liked the location of the room overlooking the pedestrianised zone and close to various shops and restaurants. It was a hot day and with the windows fully opened it was great - very Dutch.
Review 134:Nothing to declare!
Review 135:Quiet and clean room with comfortable bed an a writing desk!
Review 136:Breakfast was very poor.. Room was small and cramped. Could barley get in the door to crawl up the stairs to the room.
Review 137:Location
Review 138:Bathroom sink is a little small.
Review 139:Friendly reception, helpful staff, spotless room, tasty breakfast.
Review 140:Night lamp was poor and broken but there was another I could use so no problem.
Review 141:Location in the city. Nice old house.
Review 142:Waals in room need paint, staires making noise. But not disturbing too much.
Review 143:Friendly stuff, clean rooms, breakfast, location, etc.
