Reviews for Dar El Jadida

Review 1:It would have been nice to have soap in the bathroom and a bottle of water would also have been convenient.

Review 2:Location for seeing the Cite Portugaise was great. Room comfortable. Rooftop terrace very nice. Our host was very pleasant.

Review 3:Wifi was real bad, if it was due to the internet connection or router, I do not know. But as I said, I was happy when I was able to access and watch my mail and to send and annal email. I have stayed there two nights but had not cleaned the rooms and embedded my bed so I thought it was a shame. And the lady who took care of both the cleaning and the breakfast could be a little nicer.

Review 4:I liked the location, it was a nice place. The room was nice and comfortable with nice bathroom, newly refurbished apparently. The bed was really comfortable, the room was real clean. The breakfast was good, it was pancakes but I just lacked a bit of bread, but passed me without course. From the terrace, it was a wonderful view of the city and even the sea. Massimo, the owner, was nice and accommodating.

Review 5:Super awesome hosts, both Massimo and his wife. Breakfast was very simple and typical Moroccon with their three different breads and marmalade/jam and coffee/tea. We had a great stay, the roof top terrace is the best part because you can hear the ocean waves, great view of the ocean and old Medina, and the terrace itself has the beautiful tiles and comfy cushions! We even accidently took a nap up there because we were so comfortable. We had a tagine dinner that his wife made for us one night with another travelling group from France. Great fun and we all hope to keep in touch. Neighborhood was perfect as it was on a quiet family/neighborhood part of El Jadida in the Medina. Entire Medina is very safe, quiet, community-oriented. Grazie Massimo!

Review 6:Massimo (the receptionist) was really great! He helped me resetting the course of my travel in Maroccos. The terrace of the house is something really priceless and the ladies in the morning they made me a really good breakfast. At night..... on the terrace.... me and 6 billions stars........

Review 7:The house is in the middle of Cite Portugaise. The italian owner is a very friendly person and will help you with any questions. We had a tasty pasta in the evening on the terrace with a nice view of the Atlantic coast. The breakfast was very good and we could have it for take away because we left early in the morning. We enjoyed our time a lot in this hotel.

Review 8:The lack of comfort, hygiene and attention for the building despite the 45euro a night. If you wantet to use the kitchen you had to pay 10 ekstra euro; in a country where you can eat a descent meal for 6.

Review 9:Communication was a little bit complicated, the hostess could not speak English, but well-worked the body language. Room was spacious, the bed was big and comfortable, but floor was not very clean. Breakfast was bland- dry bread, lukewarm coffee, coffee milk was weird and ran out.

Review 10:Location- not very easy to find, but using the name of Massimo, not the name of the hotel, everybody in the neighborhood will be able to help. Parking is just in front of the hotel. Overnight stay in the distric, which marked in guidebooks as a major attraction of the city.

Review 11:We should let go the bad things, right Massimo? ;)

Review 12:My girlfriend can't eat wheat and Massimo (the owner) worried about her, the breakfast was so good and the personal was kindly. The double room was big and it had a beautiful arabic decoration.

Review 13:The Italian owner is polite but he cannot manage his staff. We supposed to stay two nights but after a rude behavior during breakfast time from the staff we decide to live the place. Rooms very dark and it is far different from the photos exists in booking.com, not good value for money

Review 14:Wish there was an omelet option with the breakfast of several different breads.

Review 15:Enjoyed decent hot shower, use of portable heater in the room, very good bed (not too hard), friendly hosts, and easy and interesting location.

Review 16:standard was quite low. It was clean but interior design and furniture were quite old.

Review 17:a very friendly host , wonderful location. From the terrace one has an amazing view of the medina and the sea.

Review 18:The $)@@)(/#^*{] rooster that kept us awake for half the night. Seemed to be right outside our window. Also didn't seem to know his job description very well; kept on croaking, dawn or no dawn. Also breakfast not great. Lots of sugar and carbs.

Review 19:The owner of the place. Also keeps a fridge full of cold beers on the rooftop terrace. And he let us stay a bit longer when we were tight for time.

Review 20:Cleanliness could be better. Toilette and shower -even if private- are outside bedroom and this was not specified in description.

Review 21:Very comfortable bed. Well located. They prepared us a breakfast to go because we were leaving early in the morning.

Review 22:Massimo is a very sweet and funny man. The riad is CLEAN, TIDY, colorful, classy and perfectly located. Wifi works, shower is large and comfortable, beds are big and soft, towels white fresh and clean perfumed, best breakfast found in morocco. Neighborood quiet, silent and very very very kind and relaxed, you will sleep very well. The welcome is warm and he makes you feel very welcome! Our stay was perfect. Thank you Massimo, well done!!! Gaia Guia Martin and David

Review 23:Quite a lot of noise from neighbours with a baby- very close living with neighbours.

Review 24:Friendly owner and staff made this place feel like you were staying in someone's home. The rooftop area is great and the breakfast good.

Review 25:The B&B is situated in the calm Old Medina, a place to relax. The lady was very nice, though she didn't speak English very well, she tried hard and we could communicate just great. WIFI worked great also in rooms.

Review 26:quarter was run down and not very clean. room facilities weren´t up to standard we had been used to.

Review 27:friendly host. interesting terrace with views locally. short walk outside quarter to get to shops restaurants etc,

Review 28:The bathroom it's outside the room but it's on the same floor and private.

Review 29:Nice location inside the cite' portugaise can even be reached by car. Nice breakfast served on the terrace with view on the ocean. A small kitchen is available on the top floor (with a small surcharge).

Review 30:Everything is perfect. Just stay here :)

Review 31:Great location.

Review 32:Great dar, Massimo really cares about his guests, location in real medina.

Review 33:service done by an aggressive woman who tried to cheat on the exchange rate. The room dark, the wi-fi fealing most of the time

Review 34:Hotel in center old town, colorit, bazar, nice view at ocean an terrace, breakfast.

Review 35:very nice owner great location in the medina

Review 36:There is so much noise at night from the neighbors.

Review 37:The owner was very nice to us!

Review 38:toilet outside the bedroom although it was next to the room

Review 39:loved the open terrace at the top and the breakfast was very nice too

Review 40:Nice place and hotel placment. Good and comfortable rooms. Great roof-view where you can take a rest and enjoy. Very kind Italian owner!

Review 41:Nothing

Review 42:Everything was fine: Nice Personnel, spacious rooms, good breakfast and good location

Review 43:Friendly owner Nice big bed Great location in the Cité Portuguaise Gorgeous rooftop terrace Nice breakfast

Review 44:None of the bathrooms are attached to the rooms. The alley outside the room was noisy until 11am.

Review 45:Location and friendly

Review 46:Really basic for the rooms. Toilets are outside the room

Review 47:We had to enlist a group of neighborhood kids to find it! To spare you the trouble: from the main street in the cité Portuguaise, turn left across from the pharmacy and go straight, through the archway, till you see it on your left. Not difficult, but tricky without a map!

Review 48:It is well located, cheap, and comfortable. A great place to stay while spending time by the beach. Bathroom is outside the room, but clean and private.

Review 49:OK so lets start with the town - Sorry guys there's only one way to say this El Jadida and the old Portuguese Quarter are DUMPS The Quarter is slowly dying from squalor, dirt and lack of interest. If this is a world heritage site then they need to revisit!! The Riad for the price is acceptable. The rooms are very basic, with outside bathrooms. More of a converted house than a true Riad. Terrace has nice views and the breakfast was good. For the area probably best value. Would I go back? Definitely not to El Jadida. .

Review 50:Just be careful to specify that you want to use the extra bed if you need 2 beds for 2 people, which I had stated when booking but found that I would have to pay more for that option upon arrival. However, Maximo finally relented when I showed him my booking.com confirmation paper so all was well in the end. I will return to this riad.

Review 51:Terrace views, hearty breakfast (and yes, it's mostly starch, which is the norm in Morocco, but at least it's hot/cooked starch!), spacious room, location right in the old part near the Spanish church, detached bathroom directly outside room and very clean, ask for "Casa Gato" if you need a local to help you find it the 1st time.

Review 52:See, breakfast above.

Review 53:Needs more fruit at breakfast and yogurt - too many carbs, but Maximo Was a great host, loved the terrace and location, good value

Review 54:nothing!

Review 55:A great place!!! I spend only one night in El Jadida (unfortunately) with a friend. Massimo, the host was kind, helpful and extraordinary. The location is perfect, in the old portuguese town. The room was really comfortable and we had a wonderfull breakfast on the terrace with an amazing view on the sea. If you have a car, you could park close to the house. If you have some problem to find it, you could ask to anyone...all the people in El Jadida knows Massimo!

Review 56:Breakfast could have been more generous, but at the discounted price one really can't complain. Beware – this is a fairly modern building, not an old riad, web photos a tad misleading.

Review 57:Massimo, our French-speaking host, was a font of information and pointed us to an excellent, reasonable, licensed pizzeria, a boon after days of tajines with Fanta. Location in Cité Portugaise perfect, with free parking nearby (i.e. cars can get into the old quarter). Room we had was spacious, bed comfortable. Sea view from roof terrace.

Review 58:The toilet is outside the room, we had to close it always, or else another guest of the hotel could it use too. That was unpleasant. The owner cannot speak really english, only italian. It's a little bit hard to find the hotel in the medina, the door plate is very small.

Review 59:The location of the hotel is good, our room was enough convenient. The breakfast was fine.

Review 60:perfect location, very clean - bed clothes was fresh, no water on the floor in the bathroom after taking a hot (!) shower, warm blankets, beatiful terrace with amazing view, welcoming owner from Venice. Everything was excellent :)

Review 61:This riad is OK but no more than just OK. I am sad to say it is not worth 45 euros a night. Located right in the middle of the old Portuguese Town. Very difficult to find as the sign on the door is tiny. You'll need to make sure you have good directions before you set off. El Jadida is not a place to be wandering the streets at night. You'll spot it down a dark alley. It is the one where all the locals are sat on the front doorstep using the wifi. The riad is reasonably clean and room functional. Very basic but functional. The bathroom is not in the room but is just opposite. The bathroom is tiny. I mean ridiculously tiny. The door has frosted glass window that may as well just be plain glass as it has no curtain. If you are in the bathroom using the sink, shower or toilet any one passing can clearly see what you are doing. No privacy. Dar El Jadida is at the same standard as some hostels I have stayed in and it feels like a hostel or almost like staying in somebody's home. During breakfast or when you visit the terrace you are surrounded by washing hanging out to dry. Also the family and their friends having breakfast in their dressing gowns. Hence why 45 Euro a night is double what this riad is worth.

Review 62:The breakfast was good. There is hi-speed wifi. The roof terrace has a good view. But this is El Jadida so there is not a lot worth looking at.

Review 63:if you stay more than 1 night be ready to live with your garbage - the staff don't know they have to clean the room. another point is that in some rooms the shower is inside the room, but in the others it is out, so you can see the guys without the clothers on the stairs. in some rooms the toilet is also outside.

Review 64:The extra 4% charge for using credit card; having stayed at various Riads in several major cities across Morocco, this was the first time I had to pay the 4% extra above the hotel fee for payment by credit card. This was not indicated during booking online though it was posted as a notice in the hotel.

Review 65:The central location right in the old Cite Portugaise. Nice roof terrace overlooking the city and ocean

Review 66:The old town area itself is rather run down - not the fault of the hotel, which was clean and well maintained.

Review 67:The situation in the middle of the old quarter was very convenient as I had gone to El Jadida to see the historic areas. The owner and his partner were very friendly and helpful. We were served a nice breakfast on the roof terrace. This was included in the price.

Review 68:Noise - during the day from residents behind ( young child crying all day). During the night -cats fighting, dog next door barking. But the riad is in a residential area in the old medina and that's all part of the deal.

Review 69:Spacious room. Friendly staff and owner (ex Venetian gondolier). Great view from the terrace.

Review 70:maybe wifi in the terrace lounge would be nice but not a big deal

Review 71:The Italian owner and his wife were really nice and friendly. The place had the best terrace ever! Location couln' t be better (Portuguese cisterns just behind the corner) ..parking just outside. Top it all up with the available beer and you don' t have to wish for more.

Review 72:The family welcome was great - the proprietor is a real character; a retired gondolier from Venice he told us. We didn't get the benefit of his singing, but we could have strangled the local cockerel in the mornings! Loved the location in the medina, parking was no problem, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. On our late return from an evening meal the staff were happy to provide coffee on the terrace, from which the views are terrific.

Review 73:Although my room had a private bathroom. it was separated from the bedroom by the corridor.

Review 74:Friendly staff, great location, very clean, modern facilities, european style (if that is your thing).

Review 75:Didn't get the instructions about where to park so ended up getting charged for parking

Review 76:Fantastic host, great breakfast

Review 77:The hotel is very clean, a breakfast on the rooftop is also great and the italian owner is friendly. It is a great place to have some rest.

Review 78:There's little to see in El Jadida. It's a nice stop for one night.

Review 79:Friendly host, clean and spacious rooms for this price.

Review 80:The location is excellent. The owner makes you feel at home. The place is very quaint.

Review 81:In the center of ancient portuguese city with a wonderful owner from Venice!

Review 82:very nice view from the roof terrace

Review 83:Very noisy, staff distracted, breakfast poor, allows smoking in breakfast area, bathrooms smell

Review 84:Wifi working in room

Review 85:Dirty room. Dirty bathroom with a disgusting smell.

Review 86:Great location within the portuguese quarter.

Review 87:Very traditional,a real sample of Moroccan life, great experience.

Review 88:This was a very clean, comfortable and friendly place. The owner wasvery helpful and friendly and I would recommend anyone to stay here
