Reviews for Pensjonat Jarlen

Review 1:We are a family of 6 so finding accommodation is quite tricky! Our room was adequate but 3 nights was more that enough. 1 room with 3 sets of bunk beds, 2 armchairs and small coffee table. Dining table with 4 chairs and basic good self catering facilites. It was all just a bit tired but usuable. The room did not look like any of the pictures! Although the kids loved the disproportionately large tv!

Review 2:Great location! Staff on front desk very helpful and friendly.

Review 3:No A/C. But its rare, that there is too hot generally in Norway, so is ok. Cant get everything with low fees. :)

Review 4:Location is great. Few hundret metres from the center market. And not long distance from train station either. Cheap! And decent rooms, clean, shower-room equal to new. Beds a bit too soft for my taste. Otherwise very good considering the price and if your not too fancy! Excellent for backpack travellers!

Review 5:No elevator, so heavy suitcases not much fun, but the friendly member of staff at check-in did help me lug my bags up the stairs. Wouldn't be a problem if you were travelling light.

Review 6:Stayed here temporarily (10 days) while trying to find a permanent place to live in Trondheim. Certainly not luxury accommodation but comfortable enough and reasonably priced (by Norwegian standards). Self-catering (basic kitchen -- stove w/two rings, fridge, basic pots/pans/crockery) useful if you don't want to expensively eat out in Trondheim. Recommended if you don't need frills and are happy making your own breakfast.

Review 7:Room looked like a dorm room. Bathroom shower was not enclosed, so water went everywhere. No closets or cupboards. Location was close to downtown, but far from train station. Refrigerator did not get cold.

Review 8:Price was good.

Review 9:Wifi was unfortunately broken when I was there (Trondheim was experiencing a bad snowstorm and winds up to 40mph, so I don't hold this against them entirely, I'm sure they usually have it). It was about 10 minutes from the train station, which felt INCREDIBLY long in a snowstorm, and there are many hotels closer to the station for not a terrible amount more. The beds aren't the most comfortable, but if you're travel-worn you will fall asleep just fine.

Review 10:Really enjoyed staying here. I wound up having to grab a hotel quickly in Trondheim and they were very accommodating. More than enough bedroom space, nice TVs, cool bathrooms (I like the integration of shower and bathroom as one thing), and fairly friendly staff. Coffee available 24/7 as well. Very economic choice.

Review 11:No shower curtain, the bathroom is all wet after the shower. But this is very typical in Norway.

Review 12:Good location, 5 mins walk from the main square and the bus stop of the airport shuttle. The room is nice, with a well-equipped kitchen. Comfy beds and chair.

Review 13:No breakfast. If you are not going to cook yourself the breakfast in cafe will probably eliminate the price difference with more expensive hotels. In general, not suitable for business trips: wifi is very poor, no table for working in the room neither in lobby.

Review 14:Location is perfect. Cheap enough but still clean. Rooms with kitchen. Should be good for travellers who want to cook themselves and stay at hotel only for nights.

Review 15:The curtain was a little too dark. But I could not keep the curtain opened, because people on the opposite side of the building may be able to see my room.

Review 16:The location was very good for my purpose of stay in Trondheim, and the price was quite good. Personnel at the reception was very friendly and informative. Bathroom was clean and the heating floor was very nice to have.

Review 17:Bathroom got flooded due to no shower curtains, then the floor was too wet to use sink or mirror or the toilet.

Review 18:Very close to the Trondheim center (Torget). There was a fridge and cooking plates so it was possible to fix small breakfast in the room. Staff was very friendly.

Review 19:The very steep staircase with narrow steps.

Review 20:Clean and comfortable budget accommodation within easy reach of all the tourist attractions. The staff were very accommodating with taking my suitcase up and down to my room, thanks guys.

Review 21:The beds were thin. Even with windows closed you could hear noise in the courtyard and between the rooms/hallways.

Review 22:Bathroom was large with great water pressure. Bedroom was small but had the needed supplies for bedroom and kitchenette. Location was good and staff was friendly.

Review 23:Colour of the walls in the halls, a brighter colour would make it feel more pleasant. See-through curtains.

Review 24:For the price... excellent. Very clean and comfortable with all you need. Did look a bit dodgy from the outside but was perfect on the inside.

Review 25:Internet connection was a voucher, you get it every 24 solar hours (if you arrive at 18, it will last only til midnight, for other 12 hours). But it is for free and once you know this, you can always go to ask for an other access password. (Probably the password is always different because in this way the people around won't "steal" the connection, this would make the hostel have a less powerful connection).

Review 26:The room we rent was on the last (fourth floor), its colour was green (so the rooms were green too, at least ours was so). In it there was nothing you could ask for more at that price: Two comfortable and clean beds (but be careful if you put them together, someone might wake up in the middle on the floor! :D) Lights everywhere that you could switch on, big tv with flat screen, a fan/ventilator (good during such a warm summer!) In a corner there was a sink to do the dishes and two small cookers, above a place with dishes, pans/pots and everything else you need for cooking. Under, a place for the garbage, then cutlery and a small fridge. In an other corner a table and two comfortable chairs (a place where to eat) and then a very good armchair with a footrest. There was even soap for dishes and soap in the bathroom by the sink. The bathroom was essential: shower, wc and sink. If you stay in Trondheim for some days and don't want to spend too much, you can go to the very close Bun Pris or other supermarkets in the center and cook in your room. It is the perfect budget place from where you can visit the very beautiful and young city. It was the best deal in 14 days of holiday, a huge difference between what you pay and what you get! :D I told them personally and shaked their hands, because that is right what we needed as a couple of young travellers.

Review 49:Extremely nice, friendly, and kind staff. I was there for a night and I had to go to attend symposium and I could not return before 12.00 noon to check out. The guy was so kind that he allowed me to check out two hours later. Thank you so much!

Review 50:You will hear every noise form other guests - conversations from next doors, doors shut/open, people walking and talking in a corridor (because the building itself is old, carpets on corridors were worn out, didn't really absorb noises). So if you expect something important next day and need a good tight sleep, you might want to consider again.
