Reviews for Baikal View Hotel

Review 1:Wifi did not function. Quite far away from the main sightseeings and the village so we had to take taxi. Was hot in the room because only the little window opens which was not enough. No curtain on the little window.

Review 2:The standard of the hotel is at a very good level. The personnel very helpful. Very comfortable beds! Clean rooms, new furniture. Good restaurant, good service. We would recommend this hotel without any hesitation.

Review 3:Bit far from the lake. No double bed room

Review 4:Certainly it's the best hotel in Olikhon island with warm welcome, English speaking staffs, delicious food.

Review 5:Swimming pool is great, but since it's not heated, it'sbasically only for the Russians! Zero landscaping on the premises, instead of grass, etc - a sea of weeds frequented by a stray dog (normalsight in Khuzhir). Too far to walk to the village, so the isolation isquite annoying as daily trips to the village by taxi can get expensive.

Review 6:Comforts of a modern hotel in very rustic surroundings (Khuzhirvillage). Great breakfast buffet! Very comfortable cabins. Nice view ofthe lake. Fantastic, very friendly, English speaking stuff (especiallyNatalia form the gift shop!).

Review 7:The location of the hotel is a bit remote. One needs to walk 2+ km to go to the Khuzhir village (or by taxi for ~350 rubles). A lot of insects in the grass, if you are not careful enough, they will get into your room...

Review 8:Best hotel one could find on Olkhon island. A stunning view of Baikal lake. The hotel provides guests with free swimming pool and sauna. Watching sunsets while sitting the hotel restaurant enjoying tasty meals is a must-try experience. Reception speaks good English and is helpful.

Review 9:The location is too far from the town. There's no resturant or grocery around.

Review 10:English speaking staff are very helpful. They could help you for calling taxi, arranging excursion, etc. The rooms and facilities are new and pleasant.

Review 11:it is remoted from town but no shuttle bus. the restaurant is very expensive and taste is not good. no shops around hotel.

Review 12:the hotel has clean and comfortable rooms in olkhon islands. wash room is not perfect but is especially clean in olkhon island. the staff is kind. the swimming pool and sauar is not bed.

Review 13:1.not a big choice of food at breakfast 2. more then 2km from the city 3. no tea facility in a room

Review 14:1.View 2.Clean and beautiful swimming pool 3.free, comfortable sauna

Review 15:Internet not working properly and charged separately Not so helpful staff, some are doing well others very unfriendly Poor breakfast buffet

Review 16:Clean rooms Nice view

Review 17:It was a 40 minute walk to Khazir which is the only town where you can buy things without having to pay the hotels prices.

Review 18:The facilities were excellent and the views of the lake from the bedrooms were amazing. The food was good and the staff were friendly.

Review 19:We wanted to eat omul fish in the restaurant, and a waiter told us they were lack of it because of too many guests that arrived the same day. That's why we ran all over Irkutsk hunting for this fish, and when we finally found it (it's a problem there), it cost 650 Rub.

Review 20:The hotel is new with all the rooms overlooking Baikal lake. It even smells like fresh wood in a room. Linen is super clean, beds are very convinient for a deep sleep. Staff was friendly, always ready to help. Khuzir village is not far away, so you can just walk on foot there (about 2 km). Advice: buy ribbons in advance to put them around saint columns. The weather is amazing, not hot, sunny, perfect for a good brown tan and jogging. It was very calm, good place for meditation and escaping big city life. Breakfast was good, tables overlook Burhan cape. Prices for linch/dinner are fine.

Review 21:The food was just okay.

Review 22:Many staffs speak English. Even those, who do not, were a joy to work with.

Review 23:Far from the main village.

Review 24:The only hotel the crews are possible to speak proper English.

Review 25:A little bit far from the village.

Review 26:good view, pool and sauna

Review 27:Location, very friendly and professional staff

Review 28:Nothing, good experience all around.

Review 29:Check in desk staff were excellent, pleasant, smiling, eager to assist. Spoke perfect English. Restaurant waiting staff not English speaking, but very pleasant and patient. Good food. Great views of the lake.

Review 30:The menue is a bit monotonous when one is staying there for more than 3 eves. But still better that the other way it offten is the case in Russia: Extensive choice on the menue, but only 30% of it beeing available. The quality of the dishes were absolutely ok, especially the few local choices. To meet the hotel's ambitions, they should try to improve the dishes to a next level though. Still: nothing to complain about. And if you feel a change from the food routine in the hotel is needed, Khuzir is very close, with a number of food options. If you are arriving driving a car (your own / rental), be sure to have enough ground space, since the road to the hotel is very bumpy. But then again: Who arrives on Ol'chon with a Porsche 911 did not read the guidbook's warnings :)

Review 31:We planed to stay at the Baikal View for two nights. Upon arrival, we liked the place within minutes, and since the weather at our next destination was bad, we prolonged our stay for another two nights. Very kind and helpful staff. Some of them very young and attending a trainee programm, notably in the restaurant area. So at times, some indulgence is needed. But the atmosphere is very positive and it did cause no distress at all. Very basic but nice wooden cabins. There might be a bit of an issue with the heating on colder days. But for us it was just fine. Nice (free) Sauna and respecable swimming pool. We were very fond of the airy lobby where many guests meet in the eve to have some drinks, a chat, to get aquainted or to enjoy a board game. Prices for the drinks in the lobby are above local bar levels. But hey - this is not a youth hostel. There are plenty of them in Khushir if you are in for the budget trail. All in all: In 2013, this was a young, recently opened hotel, with very motivated staff and with a very good and positive atmosphere.

Review 32:The hotel situated a bit away from the main village (at least 40 min walk) and the hotel charged 300 rub for a taxi drive to the village (which is a bit too expensive in my opinion). The soundproofing of the rooms is not so good (if a child was running by the room the floor was shaking, we could hear our neighbours talk, slam the doors etc.). In general the hotel is a bit expensive for what it is (I guess they use the lack of competition on the island).

Review 33:Breakfast was nice, the rooms looked good, the view from the hotel was nice, the room was cleaned every day, in general we enjoyed our stay there but it is sure not a budget-friendly option.

Review 34:Very nice hotel with friendly and helpful staff(They speak good English too). The guest rooms are new, clean and well-designed, and you can get great lake/mountain views from every window of the hotel.

The Fine Print
