Reviews for Hotel Klettur
Review 1:A couple of things could make this hotel even better such as; Tea/coffee in the rooms Bar open at better times but understand off season Better stock in the bar More hot options for breakfast
Review 2:Everything was new and in good working order. The location was great and the staff really helpful. Beds were amazingly comfortable! Superb views from the hallway.
Review 3:The property has been recently updated and it is clean. Though it has been updated there is still something about it that feels slightly dated. The bedding felt a bit used and the pillows were very worn out. It is a fine place to stay aside from that.
Review 4:The location of the property makes it easy to walk around the city. Staff were nice and helpful.
Review 5:We missed tea and coffee faciluties in the room after a long and very cold night aurora hunting! The double room was just two single beds pushed together but the beds were very comfortable. There is some building work going on next to the hotel (Nov '15) which looks long term but this was purely a visual problem than any noise. There is no bath, but a walk in shower (which was actually much more convenient!).
Review 6:The facilities provided everything necessary for a short stay holiday. The inside was modern, clean and and bright which was a pleasant surprise. The breakfast was also good with plenty of choice. The en suite bathrooms are clean and shampoos etc. Provided in a big walk in shower. The hotel is perfectly located with just a short walk from downtown Reykjavik. Reykjavic excursions did pick ups and drop offs from right outside the door which was useful too (no crossing busy roads or long walks from town as with other hotels in Reykjavic!). From the outside the street does not look the best but the hotel and being just a few minutes away from the main shopping, bars and restaurants by far makes up for this!
Review 7:It´s not that closed to the city center you have to walk 15-20 min, but it´s not a real problem
Review 8:Very clean place, everything is brand new, very comfortable room and nice staff.
Review 9:Bland decor throughout, no lunch or evening meal options, most rooms overlook building site or rundown buildings, including deluxe balcony rooms. requested double beds are twins pushed together. Expensive like everything in Iceland.
Review 10:Helpful staff, good location near main shopping street, clean rooms and common areas, daily maid service, hot/controllable shower, several english tv channels. Good breakfast choice and quality.
Review 11:Pillows were terrible- either flat as pancakes or high and hard.
Review 12:Great location, comfortable , clean room. Fantastic free breakfast added tremendous value to the already great price.
Review 13:The Price. Too much for an average one night stay hotel!
Review 14:Good situated in the middle of reykjavik. Breakfast was ok! roomsize is adquate for two persons. free parking across the street
Review 15:Hotel was lovely and clean - appeared to have been newly decorated. Breakfast was continental with a good selection. Staff were friendly and accommodating.
Review 16:Stayed during menningarnótt so the whole city was very busy - and it was really hard to find parking nearby!
Review 17:Very spacious and very clean room, fast wifi, lots of common areas with couches and games
Review 18:Breakfast was bedlam. The breakfast room staff were unable to keep up with the turnover of tables resulting in dirty tables & chairs, dirty floor and eating your food whilst the previous familys dishes are still on the table. Replenishment of breakfast plates was slow.
Review 19:Very Scandinavian feel about the hotel, location is nice and quiet but a gentle stroll into town.
Review 20:There was a construction site next door, not the hotel's fault.
Review 21:Staff were great. It's a very good and clean hotel. It's a five minute walk from the city centre and isn't close to the noisy clubs. I'd recommend that people go here.
Review 22:The door to the kitchen dishwashing area was propped open during the breakfast buffet, and between the animated conversations of the kitchen staff and the constant banging and clattering of dishes and silverware being collected and washed, it made for an exceedingly loud breakfast in an otherwise quiet hotel.
Review 23:The Hotel Klettur occupies a great location one block off Laugavegur with many restaurants and shops within a few minutes' walk. The parking area for the hotel was close and convenient. The room was comparatively large and well-appointed, and the beds very comfortable.
Review 24:breakfast was very crowded. small section.
Review 25:hotel was about 5 mins walk to main shopping area. free parking. and good internet connection. very clean and new
Review 26:Out of all the places I stayed in Iceland Hotel Klettur had the most embarrassingly bad internet connection. There's a certain level of expectation when paying a lot of money for an okay room, and one of those things is a somewhat reliable Wi-Fi access in the room. However, the connection here was spotty at best and made an emergency work meeting over Skype impossible. I definitely would not stay here again, it under performs expectations.
Review 27:Location.
Review 28:The desk staff were very helpful and spoke perfect English. Although breakfast was crowded they offered a good variety of items. Rooms very clean without the odor one gets in a lot of hotels.Good shower with plenty of hot water. Very convenient location.
Review 29:It lacks a bit of character - it is a bit sterile and clinical. But otherwise everything is good - breakfast, free wifi, tv etc
Review 30:Hotel is brand new and therefore clean and functional.
Review 31:I really cannot think of any aspect that displeased me. The breakfast was a simple cold buffet but very acceptable but you cannot expect the full range at this price range.
Review 32:very close to main shopping streets and sights. Also on the airport shuttle pick-up route. Staff eager to assist with advice and local excursions. A clean, modern hotel and quiet location.
Review 33:Our room faced onto a construction site and the hotel was also under construction. Staff were not very friendly, particularly not in the breakfast room.
Review 34:Easy access to downtown. Skybus dropoff and pickup point. Reception staff were very helpful.
Review 35:Rooms a little small with TV mounted in a way that was not optimum for viewing while in bed.
Review 36:Breakfast and free wifi were a positive. Value for the money high given costs in Iceland.
Review 37:No double beds, they simply push 2 twin beds together.
Review 38:Staff was very friendly, we talked to them almost a dozen times with various questions about the hotel and Reykjavik, they were always cheerful to help out. Overall, the hotel has everything you'd expect out of a hotel!
Review 39:The hotel itself and several surrounding buildings are under construction. Can be noisy, view out our window was construction equipment. Slow drain in the shower.
Review 40:Friendly staff, comfy bed, spacious room.
Review 41:The staff were well informed and helped in every possible way. The hotel was a two minute walk from the main shopping street. Tasty breakfast in a pleasant environment. Well heated spacious room.
Review 42:The breakfast was average at best. My room had a funky odor.
Review 43:The reception staff person was very friendly and helpful. The location was close to main shopping street.
Review 44:I called the hotel asking about the construction & I was told that they could put me in a section far away from it. On my bill it even said to put in the quiet section. We were put in room 503 right beside the construction. On the Sun night we woke up to a banging door with the wind. These things happen. We mentioned it at the desk the next night & we were more or less brushed off &said nothing could be done - so WE propped the door shut. More but not enough room
Review 45:Location was very good to walk to the downtown. After our 3rd complaint the manager changed us to a quiet room.
Review 46:Would have preferred a proper double bed rather than twin beds together but it didn't detract from the stay.
Review 47:Hotel was clean and warm. Breakfast was included. Was a tv and wifi in the room. Was close to main shopping and restaurant area. Staff were approachable and friendly
Review 48:Walls seemed a little thin. Could almost hear what was said in the room next to us.
Review 49:Distance from main shopping street with restaurants was within easy walking distance. Although fairly basic room and adequate breakfast, the hotel was very good value compared to other hotels in the vicinity.
Review 50:Nothing in particular.
Review 51:We liked everything: good location walkable distance to all mayor points; friendly and helpful staff; clean, small and cute hotel.
Review 52:poor wifi connection; very basic breakfast everyday; works and noise at building next door
Review 53:good location for city centre and for going outside Reykjavik; nice bed
Review 54:There was no kettle in the room. Considering the cold weather it would be helpful to have one.
Review 55:The location of the hotel was good. It is a few mins walk away from the shopping street - Laugavegur
Review 56:Nothing to dislike.
Review 57:There's nothing to dislike about this hotel - especially considering the price, location and the facilities you get for your money.
Review 58:The breakfast was poor. Staff eating breakfast in the breakfast loung at 10:05 while guests are still there. The shower area is quite dirty and needing an extra cleaning.
Review 59:The hotel is new, the deluxe rooms are well deccorated and spacious. The price is resonable.
Review 60:There was some construction going outside our window which made some noise in the morning. Also we didn't feel comfortable keeping the curtains open as there was men working right outside our window. Fortunately we didn't spend much time at the room :) Pillows weren't good.
Review 61:Breakfast was very good. We also appreciated we could buy all tours from the reception and the staff was always very helpful. Room was very large and tidy. Walking distance to main street and all the shops and restaurants.
Review 62:Unfortunately, my morning view was a little compromised by the construction worker outside my window.
Review 63:The reception staff at Klettur were really kind and helpful. Their warm welcome really helped me settle into my stay as I can be quite nervous when going to new places. They also helped me book my return transfer and other excursions. I really enjoyed the breakfast and as a fussy eater I found more than enough food that I could eat with more than enough lovely drinks to wash it down with. I was upgraded from a standard single to a deluxe twin due to the high demand (I was staying during Iceland Airwaves festival) and couldn't be happier with my room. A kettle, fridge, tea, WIFI and TV were all provided and the bathroom was divine! I would definitely stay again!
Review 64:The housekeeping staff leaves something to be desired. Also the room was hot and stuffy--the temp control didn't seem to help this and the windows can't be opened.
Review 65:The room was spacious and well-appointed for a hotel in this price range. The selection of (cold only) breakfast items was good. It is conveniently located to the main downtown without being right in the middle of the nightlife.
Review 66:The bathroom shower has glass on only one side and leaving the other side wide open and thus the water flows out,
Review 67:The staff at the front desk was very understanding. I was booked from 4 pm to 11 am. but due to my flight delay they did not over charge me and that was a relief. Enver Khorasanee Brampton Canada
Review 68:A double bed with a double duvet would have been an improvement over two single beds pushed together with single size duvets.
Review 69:Very helpful and efficient staff.
Review 70:more of a cosmetic concern but there were cracks in the walls inside the room and in the hallway (we were on the 6th floor).
Review 71:good location. Pretty good price for Iceland (£100/night). Decent breakfast. Rooms all neat and clean. Comfortable beds. 24/7 reception
Review 72:Comfortable nice and clean. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Wifi is running 100%. Perfect location right at the end of the pedestrian street in Reykjavik.
Review 73:Shower could have been slightly more powerful. Bathroom sink would have been small if sharing, but we had separate rooms so it was ok.
Review 74:We liked the clean room, wooden floors, decent breakfast, and good quiet location close enough to everything.
Review 75:Extremely poor choice for breakfast with rare refills of the most popular products like cheese or bread.
Review 76:Very nice room, comfortable beds, helpful staff at the reception.
Review 77:Only thing I can think of is that it would have been nice to have tea & coffee in the rooms.
Review 78:Very modern hotel. Spotlessly clean, comfortable rooms. Good breakfast. Reception team were very efficient without being over friendly but were helpful if there was a problem. Although there was building taking place next door to the hotel there was no noise disruption. Free public parking next to hotel. 10 minute walk to the centre of town.
Review 79:Paid extra for a room with a balcony and view. Don't bother, all you can see is the building across the street
Review 80:Very comfortable bed, great bathroom, very clean and modern. The curtains were dark too, made for easier sleeping with midnight sun!
Review 81:No coffee or thee facilities in the rooms
Review 82:It is a really basic hotel, good for 1-2 nights.
Review 83:This was my second stay at this hotel. Will stay there again if I return to Iceland. Deluxe rooms are spacious and good value for money.
Review 84:Value for money, basic morgenmad
Review 85:Great food and location
Review 86:staff are super-efficient and friendly. lovely comfortable rooms
Review 87:The internet connection was very poor in the rooms and the breakfast was very sparse.
Review 88:Nothing
Review 89:Everything
Review 90:More comfy seating need in bar area
Review 91:Location, breakfast good,
Review 92:Still working on building (some doorways unfinished, etc.).
Review 93:Short walking distance to everything downtown. Good breakfast and small bar available.
Review 94:Room had heat stuck on. Moved us to another room. Free parking across the street.
Review 95:Crowded breakfast. Not too much to choose between..
Review 96:Clean, and appears relatively new
Review 97:breakfest selection was poor Wifi impossibly slow
Review 98:Good location. Free parking. Excellent WiFi. Breakfast is a good start of the day.
Review 99:Staff at reception were generally disinterested and unprofessional. On one occasion they promised to follow up on a request and never did.
Review 100:The wifi was not alway good
Review 101:Clealiness was very good, with friendly staff and a great location
Review 102:Wifi connection didn't always work
Review 103:Location, facilities and friendly and helpful staff!
Review 104:Breakfast
Review 105:Location was good. Good value for money
Review 106:Clean, spacious room. All round good value and choice for our stay. Eat at Resto just down the road - delicious!
Review 107:Free upgrade,view,breakfast n efficiency of staff.
Review 108:No carpark
Review 109:The location is good
Review 110:Breakfast: same everyday (we stayed 5 nights). No kettle in all rooms, only in Deluxe.
Review 111:Close to main shopping street. Good bed and shower.
Review 112:Wifi poor on ground floor
Review 113:Shower Large room Free parking nearby
Review 114:All good
Review 115:Quite and comfortable. Good breakfast. Helpful staff
Review 116:Very stuffy room. Renovation outside the window. poor breakfast. very expensive.
Review 117:near city center.
Review 118:Room was a bit noisy, we could hear street noise but it wasn't a huge issue.
Review 119:Well located near the city centre, lovely and modern decor, good breakfast buffet, staff was very accomodating and nice!
Review 120:Members of Staff were very unfriently hat registration. That was unbelievable. People should more or less enjoy the job they are doing.
Review 121:The possibitiy to pay for an late-check out for about 25 Euro
Review 122:It was a good place to stay for a short Reykjavik visit. We stayed for one night and it is well located pace, close to center of the city, with clean room and well organized and helpful staff.
Review 123:Major construction of a new addition to the hotel, immediately adjacent to our room.
Review 124:Brightness, new design, spaciousness and comfort of our room, and the substantial breakfast which accompanied our booking.
Review 125:The staff were very helpful as there was an airline pilot strike during our stay. They helped all guests affected with info and arranging extended accomodation. the breakfast buffet was varied and plentiful.
Review 126:A bit off from the centre, but quiet neighbourhood. There was a lot of construction work going on next to the building at my visit. No noise early morning and at night, so it didn't bother me.
Review 127:I got a good price on the deluxe room, which was new, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good, but basic. Staff was excellent and friendly.
Review 128:We were put in standard rooms in spite of booking deluxe. These are smaller, but ok and beds are comfortable. However, they feel in poorer repair (worn fixtures, rusty windows) and the soundproofing is poor - the whole roof shakes when someone closes a door down the hall. One of our party was very ill overnight, but the morning desk staff were unhelpful about arranging a late check out (although the night staff had told us this would be fine). Apparently our room was booked for early check in by arriving guests. There are many many rooms in this hotel, and they can't all have been booked for early check in(!), but no effort was made to move incoming guests around to let us keep the room until 1 so that our recovering companion could stay somewhere quiet until our flight. The only unhelpful Icelander we met our whole trip - such poor timing.
Review 129:On our second stay, the public spaces of the hotel were still bright and clean, and breakfast was good.
Review 130:I was given a key to a room that somebody else had already checked in to and was asleep in! Unknown stranger - I'm very sorry for the unexpected 2am wake up. The girl on desk was very apologetic and charming, but a bit unnerving for all parties. The wifi is terrible - you lose connection every couple of minutes and speed is very slow.
Review 131:The deluxe room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet offered a good range of typical European style options and was well stocked. The public areas were clean and bright. Easy parking nearby.
Review 132:The one small pillow on the bed was not very comfortable. We would have predicated some spare pillows in the room.
Review 133:The location was quiet but within walking distance of the centre of the city. The breakfast choice was more than we expected. Staff were friendly and helpful.
