Reviews for Hotel Imparatul Romanilor

Review 1:The rooms are very small and uncomfortable, you could barely open the window and there was not even enough soap and toilet paper. Breakfast was very poor. I think that the price does not reflect the quality of the service.

Review 2:The hotel staff is very friendly and kind.

Review 3:Breakfast is very poor in terms of quality and the staff is not very friendly. But like almost everywhere in Romania working people haven't a very nice attitude towards their clients: too often you feel disturbing them just when you enter their restaurants or when you ask them for something...

Review 4:Hotel Imparatur is an excellent place. The location couldn't be better. So central, but quiet, clean, comfortable and at least at the moment of our stay, prices were low.

Review 5:The hotel urgently needs a general renovation- thou is still glittering,it looks like it will fall apart very soon.

Review 6:Fast check-in/out.Nice Spa.Very close to the city center.Free parking.

Review 7:Old fashion but highest class ambience. Pool and sauna like in the 007 movies. Right in the center of the old city, near a fantastic Episcopal church: St Mary with a visiting tower with breathtaking views all over the city. Ms. Andrea a wonderfully professional, informative and friendly front desk host. Two bathrooms in the room. Great breakfast food and restaurant ambiance.

Review 8:Bathroom shower was broken, there was no mount for the spray handle. Could have been cleaner (I found a half-eaten bag of chips in the dresser!)

Review 9:Great staff and great location; also, very nice breakfast!

Review 10:Poor furniture and appliance maintenance. At the spa there where a lot of broken lighting bulbs and there was just one out of 3 showers working.

Review 11:The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is excellent.

Review 12:The process of using the pool wasn't clear. I was informed towels would be provided at the pool but when we got there, neither changing facilities nor towel the procedure were obvious.

Review 13:The location is ideal, the staff were friendly and the vintage style room was clean and well maintained.

Review 14:The checking in did take forever coz the receptionist was gone to start the water heating system

Review 15:Location is wonderful but d cleaning lady left the windows open and it did cold over the night

Review 16:The opening hours of the pool should be 7 am to 7 pm.

Review 17:A very elegant hotel, situated in the most central point with free parking facility. Very helpful and friendly staff. Nice breakfast and good restaurant.

Review 18:This was a well located hotel in the heart of Sibiu. The hotel is located in a fine old building and although it is a little old fashioned in places it has a charm and grandeur that is very appealing.

Review 19:Bathroom could have been a bit more modern, e g with a wall mounted shower head.

Review 20:Great Location! If you like retro look and feel it is the ideal place to enjoy central Sibiu.

Review 21:The wi-fi was only in the lobby areas and was very slow, but since we were on vacation that wasn't really an issue for us. Our room was warm when we first arrived but the windows opened and a breeze cooled it right off.

Review 22:The location was great. Within walking distance of food and sights. We were lucky to accidentally find the public parking lot behind the hotel where we were to park, and we got the last parking spot.

Review 23:difficult access with car. the eggs on the breakfast buffet were cold. The water bottles in the mini bar were no more sealed. The sparkling water was replaced by water from the tap. Definitively the management left the place

Review 24:nice hotel, well located

Review 25:This is my favorite hotel in Sibiu. As far as I know, it's the oldest one in Romania. Even though the furniture may not be in tip-top shape and there are minor glitches to be fixed (that's to be expected from a 16th century building), the personnel and facilities make up for it. Make sure to try the stunning & stylish indoor pool.

Review 26:On most recent visit, unable to access internet. Was there over two nights. Told there was a problem but no-one made any effort to sort it. Was not happy as internet important for me.

Review 27:staff always friendly. room comfortable and excellent breakfast. Perfect location.

Review 28:No proper air conditioning in the room (just a cheap ventilator system) Parking was difficult to find

Review 29:Central location in Sibiu, nice swimming pool, breakfast was good, large room with an interesting decoration, polite staff

Review 30:none

Review 31:Great location, good and enough food, parking facilities nearby, nice staff. The hotel is not new, but this gives the athmosphere. Go there and check!

Review 32:The hotel has an old look-if restored/renovated to it's former glory days ,it would be one of the finest hotels in Europe.

Review 33:As always, nice front desk personel-fast check-in/out .Free parking in the middle of the city is always a good thing :). Even thou the hotel looks old,the rooms are ok.The SpA center is very nice.

Review 34:The staff os a little bored to answer, they don't have air conditioning, the bed is uncomfortable and old, the bathrooms are old but clean. All hotel needs a little reconditioning

Review 35:The location is very good

Review 36:decent hotel located in the heart of the city. Good pool and sauna. Liked breakfast. Cleaning and changing towels every day, which is not often see in a three star hotels.

Review 37:The rooms are very small and antique, I don't mean the design alone, the furniture is genuinely old and falling apart! I have requested a baby bed (crib) for my 2 year old, and guess what, the bed was much older and seemed to have been ran over by a truck (literally).

Review 38:The best thing in this hotel is it's location and available parking for the cars. It sits right in the middle of the old city close to all important sights. The breakfast is very good with a nice selection.

Review 39:Friendly and most helpful staff, the elegant decor, location on a pedestrian street, maybe a block from the main square. Those who require AC will be less happy.

Review 40:The cooling unit was leaking water on the rug. The rug was wet all the time and I had to step on that every single time I go to bad. It was located next to the bed. The big hot air ventilation pipe is fixed to the window. That's a problem because I can't open the window for fresh air and the cooling unit was very very loud. The bathroom was missing a shower curtain. Everytime I shower the floor is flooded and it stays wet as I had one floor rug. The room was not cleaned two out of the four nights I spent there. I had to call front desk to have it cleaned. It was done quickly and haphazardly. Not happy with that.

Review 41:The location is excellent. The staff was very good especially the restaurant staff.

Review 42:Very hot inside the room, escalated to management who lied about solving the issue that day - however no action done (the option was to bring mobile air conditioning unit which was available for some other rooms). They lacked of feedback, management didn't answer the phone anymore.

Review 43:Personalul extrem de amabil şi corect. Prietenul cu care am călătorit a uitat un plic cu mulţi bani în cameră. Doamna care făcea curăţenie i-a găsit şi am fost sunaţi imediat.

Review 44:Shower lacked curtain, and therefore it was quite tricky to keep to get the floor from getting wet. And it took a while to get warm water.

Review 45:It is a palace - there were even tourists taking pictures of the lobby. Location is as central as it gets - still a walking distance from bus & train stations. Very helpful staff who speak good English.

Review 46:The maintenance of this place is missing almost completely. It's sad that such a great place is not being maintained. A lot of details need to be repaired.

Review 47:The location is great. The staff was very nice an helpful. The design and architecture is superb.

Review 48:The wi fi in the back rooms didn't work. The pool was small and extremely hot. The whole hotel needs a lot of TLC as it is starting to look old and shabby. The man who checked us in was really lovely and helpful but the woman who checked us out was really rude and didn't want to listen to our issues. The bath leaked a lot.

Review 49:The location is great and the rooms at the back of the hotel were really quiet. The bath tub was a good size and nice and clean. Breakfast was OK just not as good as I imagined it would be.

Review 50:Great location. Brilliant hotel and very friendly staff!Excellent breakfast! Enjoyed the swimming pool.Everything was perfect. We will definitely come again and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Review 51:Shower was attached to bath type, had poor holder, water took too long to get hot. No air conditioning. No wifi in rooms. Overall seemed a bit dated.

Review 52:Antique interior has plenty of charm, breakfast good, clean enough, great location right in the old town of Sibiu.

Review 53:wifi work well in lobby, not good in your room. I have basic twin room for single use still find room a bit small. Bathroom have no shower curtains, hate step on wet floor after shower. The closet smell VERY much an old piece of wood furniture, but clear thru.

Review 54:very good location for vacation, especially if this is your first visit of Sibiu, right by the main square, center of all sightseeing spots. Good breakfast.

Review 55:You promised wifi, but it didn't reach our room. You promised a take away breakfast but it wasn't available when we left and the man on the reception just said. It's not here. There's nothing I can do. The beds were uncomfortable and creaked all night keeping us awake. The hotel was much too hot.

Review 56:The room need some upgrades- curtain partially off the rail, shower head holder broken, no shower curtain, leaking toilet, phone not working. Wifi was hard to get in our rooms and would just drop off. I sat in the lobby to get proper service.

Review 57:The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a wide variety of foods and drinks in a grand old dining room. The location is superb being just 2 minutes walk from Piata Mare- lots of cafes, shops, restaurants, and beautiful architecture.

Review 58:The bathroom looks quite old, the bathtub drain made a lake in the bath when water was running. There were no bath wraps in the room for pool usage, we asked for them but did not received any, even though they said we'll get them. The furniture would need some restoration, especially in the lobby.

Review 59:Location - in the very centre of the town; existence of pool, very nice restaurant, luxurious furniture.

Review 60:Parking difficult and if you have luggage, it is trouble. Breakfast was just OK.

Review 61:Very central, old and majestic. Not expensive. Has an old charm. Outside freezing cold and inside nice and warm, even hot.

Review 62:There is no guarantee of internet in your room. The kisting says internet in foyer but dosent say it mightnt work in your room. And it didnt a lot of the time for me. Theres also no temperature control in the room. The heating was on full belt and rather than having a thermostat I had to leave the window open at night and got a terrible cold from the cold coming through the widow and the incredible heat from the radiator. Nutz or what, and what a terrible waste of energy. The tv was also very very old. Overall an impressive exterior belies a very dated 1990's attempt at glitzy interior. Badly needs to tone down the gold and glitz and update the things a traveller needs.

Review 63:Location. Exterior.

Review 64:A beautiful old building in the heart of the city center, good-sized rooms, nice breakfast in a beautiful breakfast room, for less that 50 EUR/night

Review 65:Nothing of note.

Review 66:The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the station along a direct route. It is close to the heart of the old town within easy reach of restaurants, cafes and the main historical attractions of the town. The breakfast is very good. The hotel staff were very helpful.

Review 67:Slightly worn around the edges Of brought up to spec costs would increase. You can't have it all ways

Review 68:Great location in the old town. Good value.

Review 69:Not so good service in the breakfast room. The stuff is not there if you need something.

Review 70:Clean comfort, big room. Good breakfast.in wonderful elegant restaurant off the hotel

Review 71:While the decor is quite regal, it is quite old and some of the chairs, doors, tables etc could be repainted. Lights in hallways turn on with motion - so if your room is far from the lift and you come out of your room the hallway will be dark for a few seconds. Shower curtain was a bit mildew-y at the bottom. The bottom staircase in the room - some of the wood had come off. Needed to be fixed. Overall beautiful decor and rooms and hotel - just needs to be fixed and painted a bit!

Review 72:Excellent location, right off the main square of Sibiu. Stately looking hotel from the outside. Decor inside is quite regal. Beautiful room - small sitting area on one floor, and a staircase in your room to the next floor where the bed was. Big tall windows that open and let you look out onto the street below. Friendly staff, good breakfast.

Review 73:The hotel is obviously old and has been there for a looong time. Most of the upgrades appear recent, but not of good quality. The bathroom and the room were generally clean, but there was some areas with paint scuffs and pealing paint. The room had no AC, just a fan. The bed was situated in the loft of the room, and thus pretty difficult to cool down at night.

Review 74:Location, location, location! Steps away from the square, shops, attractions. The staff was nice. The continental breakfast was great - with good options.

Review 75:The hotel is tired and needs some proper tidying up in some ways this adds to the charm but in others it says lack of care/attention/money. The most disappointing aspect was the health spa, there are no instructions re it's use, or how to turn things on, the sauna didn't work at all, the pool was dirty and only 2 of the 4 spa pool functions worked once we had enquired how to locate the controls, one of the functions that was working I wouldn't go under as it was filthy. It felt like the land that time forgot and was a real shame. The hotel provides no information at all regarding hotel services I.e number to ring reception, room service, there is no guide in the room regarding meal times, and doors are not labelled so you can't find where things are, there are toilets down stairs but you would never know it, and no menu to check out unless you actually go into the dining room which we felt awkward about incase we decided not to eat there. Breakfast was ok a choice of hot or continental but only one toaster for everyone and never enough fruit for anyone going down after 8 am. Staff on reception were mainly helpful efficient and courteous. If you like somewhere a bit quirky and not too perfect this is a good choice, but I do hope they sort the pool area out and put some info files into the rooms.

Review 76:The sense of space style and charm. We were in a suite (309). The location was fantastic central but quiet and no noise disturbance, the walls were thick so no noise from neighbouring rooms. Hotel is popular as a wedding function venue for the locals, we saw 2 weddings in the week we were there. The dining room/function room is large and has an amazing sliding roof. Rooms and towels were cleaned and changed daily. It was a very popular and busy hotel but never felt crowded.

Review 77:we stayed two days and the room was not cleaned, only the towels were changed. The mobile air conditionner did not work. The bed and mattress were out of order and very noisy. The indoor swimming pool looked filthy. The wifi did not work properly

Review 78:very good location to walk the local streets

Review 79:Out of date furnishing and appliances, improvised mobile system of air conditioning, poor quality of breakfast.

Review 80:Impressive entrace spaces, competent staff. With just a little effort and attention for details it could be a superb place.

Review 81:The hotel is very pretty; the rooms are big and nicely decorated. The breakfast is really good a nice variety of products-small minus no fresh pressed juice but compensates with many fresh fruits. Good quality for the price.

Review 82:I always stay in this hotel when I am visiting Sibiu. The building is always impressing my companions with its faded elegance. The rooms (even if in need of some TLC) are clean and well equipped. The breakfast is varied and well prepared. The staff is efficient and very welcoming.

Review 83:Not receiving directions and information about parking arrangements before arrival when I asked for them. Not having any information in the room; especially about the spa tub which we couldn't get to work...not even to have a normal shower

Review 84:The location. The lovely soft sheets. the good breakfast.

Review 85:Receptionist was rather disinterested and not keen to help. All rather run down and past it.

Review 86:Great location right by one of the main squares Discovered a swimming pool in the basement which was lit, if a little eerie! Also has a sauna. We found we were alone! Breakfast in the ballroom with a sliding roof, open to the sky.Good breakfast. Plenty of character

Review 87:the breakfast was not good, coffee was ok.The bad was up stairs and we had to go up and down every time we went to the bathroom... They didnt have towels at the pool or bathrobes...and we discovered mold near the bad.I think this hotel is very expensive for what it offers!

Review 88:the location

Review 89:See comment above.

Review 90:We travelled as mother and daughter. I didn't like it, thought it was dated, dirty top sheet on bed and a swimming pool that smelled of stagnant water (needless to say, i didn't spend long in it) However, mom thought it was very nice. Liked the fixtures and fittings and the overall style of the hotel. Breakfast was excellent and the location near the square ideal. I would recommend the Continental Forum if like me you prefer, modern interior without the smell of cigarettes.

Review 91:Mattress lacked firmness - seemed old or worn.

Review 92:Beautifully appointed public spaces. Good breakfast. Location on pedestrian street near the large square. The single suite assigned me pm my second visit.

Review 93:The service is not especially friendly, the breakfast is ok but nothing great.

Review 94:The situation in the very center of the city. The building in itself is very nice, nicely refreshed. Nice atmosphere.

Review 95:Breakfast needs to be improved, from the food itself to table cleanliness

Review 96:The atmosphere and the location are great, the pool&spa are nice, the staff are the best

Review 97:Difficult to access with a car (public parking in the street at the back of the hotel). Hotel is aged. Most of the facilities in the very nice spa are out of order.

Review 98:Wonderful location, good pool and spa, fitness room, good breakfast, large rooms, staff is very helpful

Review 99:No air conditioning No Wi-Fi in room Bottom of shower curtain in single room #236 bathroom had mildew around the bottom. Unsanitary and unacceptable for a hotel rated highly by booking.com! Light bulb in lamp next to bed in room 224 was missing. I was not advised that a wedding reception had been scheduled directly under my first, single, room #236! The "music" was already underway in late afternoon, when I returned to the hotel. I asked the concierge if the music would be over in the evening; he assured me that the "night would be quiet." I returned to my room around 8 p.m.; the music continued......directly under my open window. By 11 p.m., the racket continued. I could not sleep. I called the concierge; he immediately moved me to double room #224. It would have been fine, except there was NO shower curtain in that room! Dining room at evening meal was virtually empty! The food was adequate; the ambiance, poor.

Review 100:The location. Decor was lovely. Staff was helpful and friendly. Single room was fairly appointed. Breakfast fare was varied and fresh. The room was clean; bed fairly comfortable. Bed linens were clean. Dinner fare was acceptable.

Review 101:Faded perhaps, but really rather nice. Yes it could do with a makeover but it has a genuine charm that is hard to replicate. The location is amazing, and do not let the lack of parking put you off: there is plenty of public parking just a few minutes away,

Review 102:parking could be problem during busy days but there is a paid parking lot nearby.

Review 103:really nice rooms and right in the middle of sibiu.

Review 104:Towels were not clean

Review 105:Location and breakfast

Review 106:Everything is old. In a bad way.

Review 107:Location, pool

Review 108:Internal design outdated

Review 109:Location

Review 110:Old furniture, not very well refurbished

Review 111:Poor wifi connection.

Review 112:The staff, location and the breakfast are excellent.

Review 113:Nice, classic hotel, in the middle of the city center. Polite, helpful and nice staff

Review 114:bathroom

Review 115:location

Review 116:Wifi only at the reception and very very slow

Review 117:Lovely ambiance Charming little pool

Review 118:Great quality for such a low price. Excellent pool and facilities!!!

Review 119:Great place right in the middle of attractions

Review 120:Great location, good confort, nice facilities and delicious breakfast.

Review 121:The carpet in front of the bathroom was wet thus the room had a funny smell.

Review 122:Hotel's location was excellent.

Review 123:great location staff friendliness

Review 124:Fitness equipment not in good condition, bicycle and elliptical trainer.

Review 125:Great breakfast, especially coffee.

Review 126:It is a rundown old hotel that needs a complete renovation

Review 127:Location location location

Review 128:Very "old charm", slightly going downhill with age, but still charming and good.

Review 129:No AC, no flat TV

Review 130:the location. the city center, near all the museums and atractions.
