Reviews for Hotel Courage Waalkade

Review 1:The room was very dark. Poor lighting. The duvets were like summer duvets. Two narrow, separate duvets on a double bed. Not nice. The pillows were really bad and lacked support. The room was freezing cold and no instructions were given on how to operate the C/H. There was a big gap under the door so the light shone in all night long from the corridor. The man on reception was cordial but not that helpful.

Review 2:Near town.

Review 3:Having to enter the lobby through outside sometimes.

Review 4:Very nice view and good location, quiet area too. I liked the environmentally aware policy, it's a relatively 'green' hotel.

Review 5:The room was very cold on the first night, the heating didn't work and was permanently stuck on cool at around 12C. The following morning we complained and they put two electric radiators in the room right away. The stairs are steep with a heavy case - OK if you are young but challenging for an arthritic pensioner.

Review 6:Breakfast was good and staff are friendly. Good views of the bridge. C Good clean hotel.

Review 7:Good for young couples who can climb stairs, but no elevators. May not be the best choice if you're older with luggage or otherwise have trouble with difficult stairs.

Review 8:Nice and unique experience. Good breakfast set up. Good location along the Waalkade for restaurants and bars and shopping. Very close to the conference center. Very nice spacious rooms for a hotel of this age. Unique architecture and Roman themed rooms. This was a good experience for us.

Review 9:Wifi did not work in room Air conditioning made a loud noise every few minutes

Review 10:Excellent location with view Delicious breakfast, including cook your own eggs

Review 11:I did not like: --> the airco engines on the rooftop, just before my window; --> bad indication how to enter your room. It was difficult to find out how to come to the third floor. A lot of doors with less indication --> no WIFI on the third floor. This needs an extender.

Review 12:wonderful airco system, very good.

Review 13:- the wifi was configured to disconnect you every 15-20 minutes and you should then reconnect again

Review 14:- I liked the dutch cozy style all over the place (reception, room,...) - the location and river view was great - breakfast was big enough with possibility to prepare by your own eg with bacon how you like is

Review 15:We had a room looking over the river, which was interesting to watch the boats. It's a short walk to town.Lots of shopping and places to eat.The breakfast was really good.

Review 16:All good but the cook yourself breakfast did take just a short while to get used to.

Review 17:A fine hotel, clean, comfortable, unpretentious and welcoming. A great view from the Waal side bedrooms. Can never stop being fascinated watching the river barge traffic toil up and down the river.

Review 18:Would be nice to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room.

Review 19:Excellent location, friendly staff. Rooms were quiet and comfortable. Good breakfast - apart from running out of eggs by 09.30.

Review 20:Wifi, we had to go downstairs, here it was okay, but not in the rooms. Maybe some more fruit for breakfast which was okay for the rest.

Review 21:The location, and it was like being at home. The rooms were not too small, you could move, the bathroom was apart, so you had privacy. The breakfast room was cozy, like being home. We cold just walk to the center, still being quiet in the hotel We would like to stay there again, Hilda

Review 22:Staff could have been more friendly. Rooms are tiny. Parking is 1 of 5 stars.

Review 23:The hotel is located quite well with a nice view.

Review 24:nothing

Review 25:good location. nice breakfast. I enjoyed my stay in this hotel.

Review 26:Right on the river with easy access, clean and very friendly.worth the money

Review 27:Couldn't fault anything same as our last stay

Review 28:I love the position of this hotel and the room we had was decorated beautifully it was superb

Review 29:The room was lovely great view of the river, quite location we where out a lot so not much time spent in the hotel,we will stay there again

Review 30:bed sheets were never changed (in 5 days!)

Review 31:location

Review 32:Staff were very friendly the location was fantastic and the breakfast very nice Not far from Nymegen city

Review 33:Somewhat dated appearance and style, slightly grumpy (not mean) receptionist, the mattresses need to be replaced, wi-fi signal quite weak (but free).

Review 34:The hotel is located on the Waalkade, and just below the park with the Museum het Valkhof, 5 minute walk from the historic city center. Everything was smooth, and the breakfast was good and plentiful.

Review 35:We went to stay because we had a friend's wedding that night. We had a few too many and overslept by two hours for check out. They never said a word at check out. Pure class out here. I would go back anytime.

Review 36:No facecloths in bathroom, which seems to be typical in European hotels.

Review 37:Comfortable room and beds. Clothesline in bathroom. Delicious breadswith breakfast.

Review 38:I selected this hotel based on previous reviews and was not disappointed. Great location. Very clean. Friendly and accommodating staff. I would stay there again.

Review 39:Our room was rather small and also the TV. Hardly could read teletekst.

Review 40:The area was great. Right on the boulevard with many restaurants and terraces. Hotel was cozy and a good breakfast.

Review 41:Nice location on river and near the old part of Nijmegen. A pleasant and helpful staff. There is a great three story bicycle museum in the building to which hotel guests have free access. The breakfast was quite adequate, although nothing hot is offered.

Review 42:The wifi was not available on the Friday that we stayed which was disappointing as we could not use it to book ahead.

Review 43:The location was great and everything was in walking distance.

Review 44:The location was fantastic-always something to watch on the river and a park, the market and shops very close by. Rooms were very comfortable, nice breakfast and staff was very kind when my son became ill. Will definitely stay there again.

Review 45:Front lobby is deceiving, very nice, well-decorated. However, when you open the doors to the rooms, it is an entirely different story. Old carpets, old mattresses, dated decor. Mattress was extremely low to the ground. Bedding was sloppy made up and comforter was paper-thin.

Review 46:Close proximity to center of town. Breakfast was decent.

Review 47:Only the finicky controls for heating the room - one of those annoying Toshiba remote controls for a ceiling mounted heat-pump.

Review 48:The friendly family-run staff and the great location on the Promenade along the River Waal in historic (oldest city in Holland) Nijmegen. The beautifully redecorated Roman-style rooms (Nijmegen is the Dutch adaptation of Noviomagus, founded by the Tenth Legion in 12BC). The superb deep and modern bath-tub, ideal for relaxing after a hard day's cycling in the Dutch countryside.

Review 49:The windows cannot be opened. Besides, the air conditioning system works in a strange way: we have not been able to turn it off (it would restart after a while).

Review 50:Friendly staff.

Review 51:Very little, for guests with limited mobility, there is a climb up the city centre but transport can be arranged.

Review 52:The hotel is very close to the Waal (Rhine in Holland),all the services are good, especially the breakfast.Of special interest to cyclists, the hotel is part of a larger building, the other half houses the Netherlands national cycling museum,an amazing collection of bicycles, dating from the earliest designs up to the latest carbon fibre models.Access can be made from inside the hotel, and is free of charge to guests.Well worth a visit.

Review 53:Great location close to downtown and the cycling street of the river Waal. In the same building there is a wonderful museum of the bicycle, and is free for hotel guests

Review 54:The staff is very friendly and helpful and the location is fantastic right bij the river with restaurants and sidewalk cafes. Also our little dog was very welcome.

Review 55:Although I knew they had no parking facilities,it is a disadvantage as Idid have a car. Not the hotels fault but it is located on a road with nothru traffic and with lots of space outsite the front door it is illegalto park there.

Review 56:Nice, small and very friendly

Review 57:Nothing

Review 58:One could not ask for a better hotel and quality/price relationship. Super well located, friendly and helpful reception, room was small but not too small...just ok...good services and great location on the river and within easy walking distance of old town and shopping areas. Just great.

Review 59:The room we had, # 25 could have been a tiny bit bigger. Our two suitcases wouldn't fit under the bed so until we had the idea of storing them under the desk/table it was a little tight if we both tried to move about the room at the same time. After that, manoeuvring became a lot easier and we stayed for a week.

Review 60:Cozy and friendly hotel. Lots of hot water and, unlike many European hotels, had a shower with doors so the bathroom didn't flood when taking a shower. Free internet worked well. AC kept room cool in, what was for Holland, fairly warm weather. For WWll history buffs, there is a great view of the bridge across the river Waal from the windows of rooms on the street side. Hard fought over during Sept 1944 in a bold attempt to end the war in Europe by Christmas of that year, it was the last bridge captured by allied forces before the one "too far" at Arnhem, a few Km to the north. Looks great with sunlight reflecting off it at dusk. Watching heavy barge traffic on the river is quite a spectacle.

Review 61:Would suggest having a refrigerator in some rooms for longer stayclients. Would have appreciated bus/train schedules from hotel, aswell tissues.

Review 62:Great location. Quaint older building but with modern renovations.Super staff.

Review 63:Poor internet connection with 30 minute limits was really the only disappointment, albeit a big one as a business traveller.

Review 64:Conveniently located to the riverfront and downtown action in a surprisingly sprightly town of Nijmegen. Friendly hotel staff caters to the needs to late night folks (front door locked at 11!) with free parking and breakfast. Small bar good for early evening libations. And free admission to a spellbinding collection of bikes over the last two hundred years at the connected Bicycle Museum. Rooms facing the river have great view; small but cozy.

Review 65:Waal-side view is lovely, watching ships move up and down river in a setting of greenery with the bridge in the background. Cafe's both along the river, and up-slope abound. This was our second visit, and we're planning on returning. The attached bicycle museum is a plus. The small number of hotel staff tend to be busy, but they are generally both helpful and friendly, as well as efficient.

Review 66:Near park where noisy event and loud music continued until midnight.Management may be too tolerant: One (American) family had set up abicycle repair operation in the lobby, noisy and messy. Truly bizarre.

Review 67:Comfortable. Nice staff. Next to Europe's largest bicycle museum.

Review 68:Perfect location - directly at the river and just 5 mins away fromdowntown. Parking lots 2 minutes away from hotel: for free from 6 P.M.to 9 A.M., otherwise about 1,50€ an hour. Friendly personnel.

Review 69:The free wi-fi only lasts for 30 minutes before you have to sign up again. Coffee, tea and sugar were not replenished; in fact my used cups from the previous night were not taken away the next day. Some sort of motor above the ceiling rattled the light fixture constantly.

Review 70:Nice view of bridge and boats from my 6th floor room. The decor is standard mid-class European, clean and functional. The breakfast was also standard, meat and cheese, breads, cereal, fruit, nothing fancy. Room had a kettle, tea and instant coffee.

Review 71:Lovely, friendly, well run hotel. Everything worked well. I was a pleasure to stay and I will be back. Loved the lobby at the entrance to the museum. It had a great feel.

Review 72:Hotel a little bit dated

Review 73:Excellent Location

Review 74:Small and clean confortable hotel. Very well located. I recomand the rooms located on the Waal front.

Review 75:Excellent Location, very central.

Review 76:wi-fi a bit hit and miss... but this is only a very minor dislike!

Review 77:Excellent location and excellent self-service continental breakfast

Review 78:Doesn't matter

Review 79:It's a really nice place, close to city center and major historic sights

Review 80:Narrow hallways and stairs

Review 81:Location near the city centre but still relatively quiet. Friendly staff.

Review 82:Quiet, individual style, close to town centre and our son's apartment

Review 83:We liked everything about this wonderful hotel and hope to visit the town of Nijmegen in the future

Review 84:Everything was as I expected. Room was nice. We had early morning meeting and we asked to get breakfast little earlier and we get it.

Review 85:There was nothing I did not like.

Review 86:The view from the room over the Waal River watching all the barges transporting cargo.

Review 87:Wifi not reliable

Review 88:Great location. Clean & friendly. Great views over the river and bridge. Good breakfast

Review 89:Location with view of the bridge over the Waal River

Review 90:It was an overall pleasant experience. All staff people we encountered were very friendly and helpful.

Review 91:A bit dated, small room, couldn't shut window!

Review 92:Great views from front rooms. relaxed staff.

Review 93:Very basic hotel compared to others in Nijmegen costing just a little more.

Review 94:Friendly check-in / night staff. Quiet location

Review 95:Very average for the cost.

Review 96:Evrything

Review 97:Lack of parking. Beds not very comfortable Be sure to ask for a room with a river view.

Review 98:Friendly staff Great coffee

Review 99:Lovely hotel, rooms nice and very comfortable beds, breakfast very good;was pleasantly surprised that they lend bikes at the hotel itself!

Review 100:They care about you. I was late arriving and they called me, and then came out to meet me when I couldn't find the building.

Review 101:Unfortunately I had a room with a back view, whereas front view would have been phenomenal.

Review 102:Room decoration

Review 103:Parking places limited.

Review 104:Nice hotel. Rooms with view on the River or to the back.

Review 105:Couldn't open the window

Review 106:Renting the bikes

Review 107:Everything. We would stay there again next time.

Review 108:No minibar

Review 109:The breakfast
