Reviews for Amrâth Hotel Belvoir
Review 1:The bathroom was very clean even though a bit strangely organized access.
Review 2:I liked the price/service ratio with possibility of usage sauna and gym at the hotel. I appreciate the breakfast included in room price.
Review 3:A bit dated looking. Prefer separate shower rather than shower in bath. The smoke alarm going off in the middle of the night without reason (probably a once off).
Review 4:Comfortable bed, excellent internet and a cosy bar.
Review 5:I love the staff at the Belvoir. That is what raises them a cut above other places. My husband and I came to the Belvoir 20+ years ago and I brought my children there to try to share the Nijmegen memories. With one exception the staff made the stay perfect.
Review 6:Everything is fantastic and I hope the hotel on my next visit to be my room look on the river and charming nature of the city
Review 7:Wonderful, friendly hotel. Staff very nice. Quiet and clean furniture and distinctive rooms and comfortable. As well as close to the city center. And close to the bus stop
Review 8:The bathroom is very simple and not clean enough. The rooms are dark, not enough light sources. The parkins system needs some changes: we waited 3 days to get the parking cards finally.
Review 9:The location is good, easy to access by car. We liked the breakfast very much.
Review 10:Room was very old decor (grandma style), the temperature inside the room was very high, could not be adjusted (heat pipes went through the flooring). Wifi did not work on my normal Android phone. Too expensive!
Review 11:The bed was very decent and the room spacious.
Review 12:Rooms could have been more modernized.
Review 13:Moderately priced hotel, located within walking distance to the city center. Room was good with a comfortable bed. Nice location with a view of the bridge (from higher floors)
Review 14:We thought the price was the absolute maximum we would pay to stay in a room with the same facilities. A little bit pricey.
Review 15:The pool's wonderful little pool (that's hardly ever used by others so it was almost like our private pool). Very large rooms with beautiful decor and furniture, big bathroom and another small toilet. Loved the vintage feeling of the room and the wifi was working well too.
Review 16:the room looked like it was designed in the 70s or 80s. Lots of dark brown. The lights were few and very dim, and with the dark colors, the room had quite a gloomy atmosphere. Judging by the peeling wall paper and worn-out cupboards, probably not much has happened in maintenance since the 80s either. not a very romantic place to stay.
Review 17:the room was very large and clean. Breakfast was good.
Review 18:Everything except the staff
Review 19:Rundown, foul musty smell, old decrepit furniture, everything about it was simply 'awful' with the exception of the staff
Review 20:The fan is a little bit old fashioned. The pool is too shallow.
Review 21:The hotel is next to all the most important places of interest. The room is spacious. The bed is super comfortable. There's a small swimming pool in the basement and it's free for guests.
Review 22:The hotel is advertised as Hotel Amrath Belvoir with its real name being the very last word. I memorised it as Hotel Amrath and was quite surprised to discover that at the location was actually a hotel priding itself with the Belvoir name. The photos matched, so I walked in and it was my hotel indeed, but I would suggest rewording the name at the booking site so that I won't get confused the next time :-).
Review 23:Everything was fine, I have no complaints. The comfort was OK, room was spacious (the primary reason I booked the hotel), my overnight stay was just normal.
Review 24:The hotel really needs some renovation. The wallpaper was in a bad condition and the paint on the walls was cracking, there was some mold on the bathroom tiles. Might have once been a 4-star hotel but nowadays max. 3 star
Review 25:It was a nice hotel close to the city center. The pool and the sauna were nice, although the pool wasn't very deep. The room was clean and the service good
Review 26:We arrived Sunday afternoon. There was nobody behind the desk and nobody in the lobby. With no key required to use the elevator, anybody could enter the lobby from the street, gain access to the guest floors and wait to follow unsuspecting guests to their rooms. This could happen even with a receptionist behind the counter, unless he or she could recognize every guest and prevent an intruder gaining access to the elevator. It took a number of rings on the useless call-bell before a staff member made an appearance, and he seemed to be the only one on duty. There was no assistance available to help with luggage, except a do-it-yourself trolley. The same empty lobby greeted us when we returned later after going out. The dispenser over the washbasin was marked "Shampoo and shower gel", and was empty. The one over the bath was marked "Hand soap". The same person who checked us in brought a replacement container for the washbasin dispenser. We were left to do the replacement ourselves. It did not make a difference how the dispensers were labelled; the contents seemed to be the same. The towels were of poor quality. With no air-conditioning in the room, it was uncomfortable - even with the window open. The room was lacking a clock and a radio, and was equipped with an ancient TV. The wallpaper was loose from the wall in places. The hotel needs brightening up and bringing up-to-date.
Review 27:We liked leaving the following morning.
Review 28:Not really a 4 stars hotel (for some aspects not even a 3 stars) Room not clean at all. Tap of the bathroom with visible limestone. I had one of my shirt mucked up just putting it in the wardrobe. The curtain was pretty old and dirty too
Review 29:Room size
Review 30:Breakfast staff was all business. We came 45 minutes before the buffet closed. The scrambled eggs were inedible and the food had not been replenished. We had a repair issue...A safety issue in our room. The receptionist made a "temporary repair" with duct tape...maintenance did not get down to that work order during our 2-night stay. The bed linens were also of poor quality.
Review 31:The location was great, as we spent a lot of time in historic NIJMEGEN, founded by the Romans in 68 AD. Dinner and various staff were attentive and friendly. The food choices were varied and delicious.
Review 32:parking right across from hotel; nice and safe area. Great place to start walking or biking tours. very friendly staff; situated on walking distance from the (shopping)center and historic sites of Nijmegen city.
Review 33:Starting to look dated and could do with a refurb, kitchen facilities in room consist of just a sink and microwave.
Review 34:The suite was large and spacious with sofas, dining table and seperate bedroom and bathroom.
Review 35:The room is a little moist. I do not know if it is because of the season.
Review 36:The price of the room is cheap compared to other hotels in Nijmegen. People there are very kind to me. The overall environment is pretty good.
Review 37:The hotel was clearly built in the 1970s and the bathrooms look unchanged from that era. There are not really any good views from the windows as there are buildings all around.
Review 38:I booked this for my parents and they were happy with the amount of space that came with the room, although they did get an upgrade to a suite room. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and pleasant so in that respect I would book it again.
Review 39:No air conditioning, toilet no where near sink. Staff didn't know much. Half of lights didn't work. Soap dispenser in shower empty.
Review 40:Big room for the price
Review 41:The decor is a bit dated, the place would benefit from an upgrade. We had to pay 9 euros to park from 4pm to 9.30am.
Review 42:The hotel room was spacious and the breakfast was of a good standard. It was a nice feature that there was a fridge in the room. The staff were friendly and spoke excellent English. The hotel is 10 minute walk from the city centre.
Review 43:the pool is not that deep and too few parking spaces
Review 44:the hotel is cleaned and comfortable. the personnel is nice and helpful. The location of the hotel is good. Nice sauna.
Review 45:Nothing I can think of
Review 46:Nice, clean, tidy room with good bathroom facilities and comfy beds. Sort of 70's looking hotel externally, with internal room décor to match. However this hotel was perfect for what we needed, close to Nijmegen centre but quiet. Continental breakfast excellent. Swimming pool a bonus. Would definitely stay with the whole family and would recommend. Good value for money too.
Review 47:Very old fashion
Review 48:Location
Review 49:Noises room, cold , very rude check in by old lady short hair receptionist
Review 50:Nothing:(
Review 51:The staff is exceptional, very helpful and kind. Highly appreciated.
Review 52:Minor detail was there are is no 1 master switch for all the lights so you have to do them 1 by 1
Review 53:Great room, great staff, great in everything.
Review 54:Old furniture and decoration, breakfast price.
Review 55:Location, breakfast, friendly staff
Review 56:The pillows smelled of sweat. The room was the darkest and gloomiest we had ever seen in a hotel of this category.
Review 57:Good location
Review 58:very dark rooms, bad illumination in the evening, too soft bed
Review 59:good, quiet location. For Nederlands good breakfast.
Review 60:Breakfast waiters were not making contact with the guests.
Review 61:Bed was fine, and the pool too.
Review 62:staff not very helpful after long and tiring flight ..
Review 63:position of hotel
Review 64:No airconditioning, high rate
Review 65:Lichting in suites was very poor and suites were not 4 stras worth it
Review 66:Good personel, especially Judith
Review 67:Bathrooms need better cleaning
Review 68:The price
Review 69:Stayed twice. One rOom was a little warm
Review 70:Great for Nijmegen visit
Review 71:Had to set my own table for breakfast one morning!!
Review 72:Helpful staff
Review 73:Swimming pool
Review 74:Great staff, perfect location. No microwave, but so close to downtown and great trails. We would stay again.
Review 75:expensive breakfast and hotel parking
Review 76:Price Breakfast (not included in price) Free parking in vicinity
Review 77:Bed too soft.
Review 78:Nice location, excellent breakfast, clean rooms.
Review 79:Dusty room Overall below four star level
Review 80:Spacious bedroom
Review 81:niks
Review 82:ligging
Review 83:Good hotel close to city center. Everything was great!
Review 84:Too soft bed. The noise from doors closing, in the lobby.
Review 85:Not far from city center. Clean. Free internet.
Review 86:Getting to and from the pool
Review 87:The pool was great.
Review 88:old interior
Review 89:swimming pool staff
Review 90:parking problems
Review 91:large room with good facilities. Do not use this hotel if you have small children.
Review 92:Cost of parking. Could use a bit more "concierge" service at front desk.
Review 93:Very large rooms, great location for walking the city. Very nice small pool. Breakfast and dinner were both very good, if a bit expensive.
Review 94:The room badly needs a renovation. Judging from the tilework and (brown) color scheme, the bathroom was from the 70s.
Review 95:Right at the edge of the old city centre, on a hill with a great view of the river.
Review 96:the sauna and the pool were great. I liked the room with the bath and thought it was great value for money. I was there for just one night, but it was terrific.
Review 97:nothing
Review 98:absolute nice staff very helpfull and the pool is all you can wish for littel sauna and very clean and towels are avalaible. cant wait to come back
Review 99:We did not like the food in the restaurant for dinner. It was poor, and the staff was not good in the restaurant either. The toilette made a lot of noise and the room was not clean. It was very old.
Review 100:The location. The staff in the lobby was very nice.
Review 101:Limited Hotel parking close to hotel.
Review 102:Hotel is within walking distance of numerous eateries. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Free Wi Fi service was nice. Breakfast bar had a wide selection of pastries, meats and cereals. Indoor swimming pool great for kids.
Review 103:The shower was not able to keep the temperature constant, tv was very old, there was no iron in the room (very handy for business trips) and the electricity was faulty one morning.
Review 104:The breakfast buffet was very good, the staff was excellent.
Review 105:Stained sheets.
Review 106:Very friendly and welcoming staff. The hotel has an 70s early 80s atmosphere: you could say it is a little bit outdated, but it has much authenticity. I particularly liked the architecture of the building, including a hotel and apartments for locals in the same construction. Wonderful location, close to the centre and very close to the Waal river. There is a basic swimming pool. Late check-out. Wifi up and running.
Review 107:Very friendly and very efficient reception. When we arrived we did not have to fill in any documents, they gave us our key when we arrived without any further waste of time. We stayed in the tower, a beautiful room, which was better than the room we reserved. Breakfast was excellent. The staff is very friendly.
Review 108:On arrival we found the the waste bin in the bathroom had not been emptied from the previous occupants. On our second day we found that the waste bin in the bedroom had not been emptied and the tea making facilities had not been replenished and the cups not washed. On our third day no cups had been washed, the bed had not been remade properly and the floor had not been hoovered. Very disappointed with the bedroom cleaners. However the staff on the reception desk were excellent and could not do enough for you.
Review 109:Unprofessional attitude of staff at the reception. Something like to see I'm a woman and give me a guest card with "Mr." written on it. Possible problems with the private parking of the hotel. If someone takes your place, then you should paid again for the public parking nearby.
Review 110:Nice room.
Review 111:the shower in our room didnt work properly wich caused burns.
Review 112:The hotel has a nice pool and sauna area that you can use day and night. There is the possibility to parc bicycles in a locked room. The room was clean and nice.
Review 113:Outdated bathroom decor, room not as clean as we would like. Doors shut very noisy. Not enough breakfast staff, dirty tables.
Review 114:good location, friendly staff. Swimming pool.
Review 115:Although Nijmegen is a small city and everything is at walking distance, this hotel is located in the more "inconvenient" part of the city center.
Review 116:It's an ok hotel. Probably a bit overpriced, but this seems to be the pattern with most hotels in Nijmegen. There's nothing really wrong with it, but also nothing that particularly stands out. The breakfast was nice.
Review 117:People arriving late in front of the building being drunk and shouting under my window
Review 118:Simple rooms, exactly enough not overdone. Somewhat out dated in style
Review 119:Bar closed too early but that may be because there were few customers.Location - a little remote
Review 120:Staff were friendly, no fuss good size rooms, comfortable, free wi-fiand good breakfast. All in all a very comfortable stay.
Review 121:Breakfast was expensive where 5minsdown the road in a cafe can purchased for half the price. some slight modernisation of the hotel is needed too.
Review 122:Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 123:The staff was unprepared to help me use poblic transport (bus) inNimegen. The only answer wherever I wanted to go was - take a taxi.
Review 124:Big room. Good location.
Review 125:The hotel truly needed a renovation. For the money you pay and the factthat it has got four stars, you can expect a little bit more. Especiallywhen you booked a senior suite with the paint on the wall showing marksand many dirty spots. The bathroom was really basic. The same quality wecould have gotten in a decent hostel for 1/4th of the price!
Review 126:This IS NOT a 4 star hotel...there's no way. It is certainly a standard, typical 3+ star....If it was out of date, and clean, i really could not complain. However, it was dirty, and when you add to that the very outdated furnishings - i cannot call it a 4 star. The carpets are horrible...square sticker carpet tiles!!! And, they weren't even vacuumed. The breakfast was not good at all. I would expect and hope to pay under 100euro for a room like this, but ours was 122, with breakfast.
Review 127:Did not like that Internet was down for around one day. And I asked specific for a good internet and they promised it was good, ended up loosing around 4000 euro due to internet and the guy in lobby was not really interesting in borrowing me his internet for 10 minutes. As it happend in the middle of the night it screwed me up very much. Not A hotel to live in if you want good internet line!!!!
Review 128:The woman receptionist
Review 129:For this price I expected to have more.We had to book several rooms (4) for a quite long stay. The hotel staff didn't negotiate the price. Moreover, they didn't reject it directly- they promised to contact us. Never did. At the end we booked at the regular price due to the time issue; and we lost some offers of other hotels in Nijmegen. Second: all the rooms were at different parts of the hotel (even on different floors). Moreover, the rooms for the same price were totally different (especially, one was much smaller and didn't contain some features which were available in other rooms). It was not nice for the group of people where some had better conditions then others for the same price. Third: the hotel staff are not nice. One woman at the check-in seams to be made a huge effort to talk to us and didn't want to explain the situation. It was an issue with the parking of a car as well. The staff was not willing to explain the parking rules properly. Cleaning service didn't want to wait for a half an hour while we will leave the room.
Review 130:Location.
Review 131:The rooms and the bathrooms are very old-fashioned. Should be renovated. Parking is a huge problem. Only 9x places vailalble in front of the hotel. The rest has to be paid by hour.
Review 132:The neds are very good. The location is good, close to the City Centre.
Review 133:The address (apparently new) is not listed in my brand new car gps. Thisshould explicitly be addressed when booking. Pretty annoying whendriving circles in the dark around midnight.
Review 134:Modern and cosy at the same time
Review 135:room and breakfast was a bit at the overpriced side, considering it's not very close situated to the center
Review 136:Booking in early in the morning (9 a.m.) was possible and without circumstances. Biycle garage inside the hotel (but one needs to bring a lock)
Review 137:One door of the wardrobe was stuck, so only half could be used. No soap, shampoo, coffee or tea were provided; there was no mini-bar. I The food provided for breakfast didn't seem very fresh, and I found the fruit salad unpleasant.
Review 138:I liked the view from our window and the old-fashioned quality of the hotel.
The Fine Print
Please note that the cafe-restaurant closes on Sundays at 2pm.
