Reviews for Kasbah Tebi
Review 1:Amazing location, fantastic property, a really unusual and unique experience, one we'll never forget. Especially lying on the roof and looking at the stars! No electricity was so magical.
Review 2:The Kasbah is authentic and renovated by the family who run it. It's location right within Ait Ben Haddou is fabulous. Food was very tasty. Don't go there if you want all mod cons - candle-lit and a wonderful experience.
Review 3:when we arrived there was no electricity, but for some reason nobody tell us about this in advance. the room was stuffy and dusty, bathroom without door and terrible, shower need to be replaced.
Review 4:the atmosphere of those times, the staff are very nice, the food is delicious
Review 5:Fantastic location within Ait Ben Haddou kasbah! No electricity adds to the authenticity and the candlelit rooms are magical at night. Wander the old streets at sunset and you will have the place to yourself! A wonderful tagine supper under the stars completed my one night stay.
Review 6:Staying in the kasbah adds an incredible richness to a visit of Ait Ben Haddou. I actually can't believe that this particular place isn't fully booked a year in advance...! It goes without saying that the location is stupendous. Add a rooftop terrace to survey the surrounding area, an incredibly comfortable room in such an ancient environment, and a host team from the immediate area - it doesn't get much better!
Review 7:You might be annoyed by a housefly or two during mealtimes on the terrace, so consider wearing repellent if you are extra-sensitive. Otherwise, it is no problem.
Review 8:Undeniably authentic architecture and decor combine with relaxed and generous hospitality. It is a great place to travel back in time, catch up on reading, polish the art of conversation, and learn the secrets of Moroccan mint tea. We were well cared-for by our multilingual host Hassan and the other staff. In early June, the rooms cooled off nicely in the evening breezes, even the room on the top floor.
Review 9:Breakfast was blend but this is normal in Moroccan hotels
Review 10:Living in history. No electricity in The old village, All candlelight. Very unique experience. The whole house is decorated with old Berber artifacts and carpets and its run by the original family of the house (kasbah).
Review 11:Amazing location and hotel. Like waking up in a different century. The manager clearly loves to host people and makes an excellent breakfast. So happy with our choice.
Review 12:As it was centuries ago, it's a bit dark and there's no power. (If you need to charge your phone, Mohammed will helpfully bring it to the new village overnight)
Review 13:The location is inside the UNESCO and the Kasbah is well preserved and a truly authentic experience.
Review 14:Only thing was the price... I know it's a Unesco World Heritage site, but still... The prices are HIGH, compared to anywhere else in Marocco!
Review 15:Wow. This is authenticity if I ever saw authenticity!!! Amazing place! If you ever go to Aig Ben Haddou... Do not stay anywhere else but at Kasbah Tebi!! You will not regret it!
Review 16:There is nothing that I didn't like! But others who are maybe less adventurous or who have physical impairments should note that the steps up to your room are steep, and you reach the kasbah by crossing a small river via stepping stones.
Review 17:Mohammed and the other staff were INCREDIBLY welcoming and helpful. The atmosphere was enchanting. A unique and very special place to stay! Words don't do this place justice. If there's any way you can work Kasbah Tebi into your trip, you won't regret it :)
Review 18:The owner is a great host and made us feel at home. He prepared dinner for us even though we arrived late and was going to take us into the old village in the morning but we didn't have time. There's no electricity in the kasbah but it is well lit with candles and heated during the colder nights. The stars are very bright and beautiful from the roof top terrace. Amazing place to stay with great food.
Review 19:Not a thing!
Review 20:Mohammed was a wonderful host and very helpful/friendly. We LOVED our day trek with Samir, it turned out to be the highlight of our trip. If we had more time, we would have asked to do a desert trip/overnight with him. Very fair prices, great English, and friendly! The whole place was clean, our room was wonderful, at the very top floor. Good breakfast with bread, jam, cake and orange juice. Highly recommend!
Review 21:The room close to the dining room (first floor) could be noisy. I'd recommend to ask for a second floor room if available.
Review 22:The opportunity to stay in a real and historical Kasbah. The atmosphere (silence, no electricity) and the experience (you have to cross the river to get there...). The guide proposed for the visit to the village (definitely recommended).
Review 23:To get to hotel is very hard. No access by car. Have to cross river but there is a bridge and sand bag walk ways.
Review 24:I like everything in Kasbah Tebi. The internet could only be used in front of the hotel and no electricity but the food is good the room is comfy. I did everything in candel lights and it was awesome.
Review 25:How to get your luggages into the hotel can be dodgy, because it situated in the entry of the UNESCO World Heritage Site so make sure you communicate with the hotel before you arrive.
Review 26:This is one of the best hotel I've ever stayed in my entire life. The owner and staffs treat you like one of their family. The food is also home made and in great quality. Keep in mind it's in the old town so there is no electricity in the hotel, but that's the good espect I think, being away from the technology once in a little while can be great.
Review 27:Nothing
Review 28:Staying in a historic kasba. No electricity. Light of candles and beautiful lamps. Excellent kitchen. Very pleasant staff. Absolutely relaxing. Beautiful rooms.
Review 29:Genuine and charming old Kasbah in fantastic location. built from 11th century the world famous UNESCO heritage site is a unique experience. Mohammed the owner is a really interesting and friendly host and food great
Review 30:I wish we'd booked more nights! This was the most interesting and unusual place I've ever stayed in. What a wonderful way to experience the history and culture of a Kasbah. It was like a living museum. Food was excellent and freshly cooked just for us. I loved being right inside Ait Ben Haddou.
Review 31:Kasbah Tebi is an awesome experience for some who wants to stay at Ait Benhaddou itself inside a genuine kasbah that has not been turned into a resort. As long as you know what it is (no or little electricity, simple, etc.) you will love it and the experience. Food is excellent, too.
Review 32:Water wasn't consistent, but we were in a desert and the staff did all they could to get water to the guests. Wi-fi worked only in the terrace. But all the minuses fade in the face of the sheer awesomeness and uniqueness of this hotel.
Review 33:I had a magical time in there. The atmosphere is so unique and incredible..staying in a mud kasbah in candlelight is such a unique and magical experience. The decor is good and the staff is super super nice, I aalso had the best food and tagine in all of Morocco. A stay in this hotel is the highlight of my Morocco trip, I will recommend it to everyone who visits Morocco.
Review 34:We liked really everything!
Review 35:We really appreciated the kindness and gentleness of Mohamed. The place has a breathtaking view. The room was big and illuminated just by candles which creates a great traditional atmosphere! The food was delicious and abundant! Thanks a lot to Mohamed for his precious advices about the trip in the desert! We'll certainly be back again!
Review 36:Kasbah Tebi is one of the most magical places I have ever been in my life. Mohamed is incredibly attentive and caring and you will feel at home in his hotel. The kasbah retains all of its original features thanks to a painstaking renovation lasted 4 years using only traditional building techniques (pise'). There is no electricity but the candlelight only adds to the atmosphere. Each room has an en-suite. Dinner was delicious. A truly unique place.
Review 37:Unique experience to sleep in the old kasbah with candellights. Beautiful in its simplicity. Sense of history to the place. You have to stay here!
Review 38:Don't let a dude hanging out at the parking lot across the river charge you to watch your car.
Review 39:Location, candles, a one of a kind stay!
Review 40:No electricity,so very hot. Many flies but at least they sleep at night.
Review 41:This is an authentic riad, beautiful views and peaceful.
Review 42:Rehabbed facilities that reminded you what life was like in the 14th century but with updated facilities.
Review 43:Excellent location fantastic food helpful and friendly staff
Review 44:Kasbah Tebi is one of a kind. Sitting on the terraces with the views of Ait Ben Heddou was amazingly tranquil and magical experience.
Review 45:very hot in summer
Review 46:Location, atmosphere
Review 47:We had problems with water supply but that was to be expected in the desert. We did not mind waiting but just be aware of the issue and have at least a bottle of water by the side in case mid way through washing your hair you find a water shortage:)
Review 48:We arrived at Ait Benhaddou and were met by Mohamed and his donkey Baraka who carried our suitcases back to the accommodation, it was so sweet to watch Baraka trotting along. Kasbah Tebi is located inside the kasbah, not in the nearby town which makes it the most incredible experience. You get to be around when the tourists groups leave then wander the quiet kasbah and watch the sun set around the mud walls and wake up again to it, it is so memorable. The room itself is beautiful, decorated in berber style, the smell of roses is delightful and as there is no electricity the place is entirely lit by candlelight. The entire stay was charming. Dinner was served in the dining room and we had breakfast on a little terrace overlooking the garden and the then dried up river. Also the site is alive with birds- one even flew into the bedroom. Highly recommended for people looking for something completely out of the ordinary. I will always remember it.
Review 49:to recharge our mobiles we had to give them away for the night...
Review 50:back to the roots ;O) the hole village is very cosy it is a very quiet place- no cars very romantic atmosphere with candles to light the room the food was delicious the stuff is very friendly and helpfull
Review 51:just be prepared, there's no electricity yet in the Kasbah - romantic candle light:) Wifi available in the dining room.
Review 52:Amazing experience!! beautifully renovated Kasbah in the old part of Ait Ben Haddou on the riverside. Excellent maroccan cuisine. Very friendly and helpful staff, relaxing atmosphere. Individual and organized tours to surrounding sights available.
Review 53:at the moment it lacks electricity....but coming soon....bring a torch.
Review 54:the brothers could not have been more help. beautiful place and location. evening meals and breakfast, simple but very enjoyable excellent food.
Review 55:We loved our stay at Kasbah Tebi in Aït BenHaddou. The two nights here were the highlight of our 10-day stay in Morocco! From the mood setting arrival at candlelight, the fabulous breakfasts on the terrace, the ambience, the owner and his staff, to the surroundings, everything was wonderfully perfect.
Review 56:We had a wonderful authentic experience at Kasbah Tebi. The great thing was that there was plenty of time to talk to the owner and find out lots about the place - great ! Had two delicious Berber meals in their first floor dining room by candle light and breakfast outside in the sunshine - served by the host ! Lovely and unique all round.
Review 57:For those who wants an authentic "ancient times" atmosphere. Staff friendly and helpful. The kasbah is an extraordinary experience of berbere life. Simple but cozy rooms.
Review 58:There was no electricity, heat or wifi when we stayed there. As it was December it was a bit chilly. Difficult to find if arriving after dark.
Review 59:Interesting to stay in a 1000 year old building. Food was quite tasty.
Review 60:no warm water - in winter you have to be brave to jump into cold water for a shower - one night stay is ok
Review 61:nice staff great hospitality possibility of great dinner (tagine) no electricity - candle light is also romantic
Review 62:I thought the surrounding views were spectacular and warranted the area's status of World Heritage Site. I've promised myself to return, if only to view the beautiful night sky.
Review 63:Nothing!
Review 64:What a special place to stay a night. This is really the place to stay in Ait Ben Haddou! Electricity was not working what made the experience even better. You park the car outside the Kasbah at the owners house and a donkey will take your luggage to the riad. Very nice dinner was served in the evening.
Review 65:This is an extraordinary and charming place with cordial people who makethe stay unforgettable. It is an old renovated Kasbah where excellentdinner is served by candle light. Li Migura
Review 66:There is no electricity which is part of the charm but can make sleeping in the summer uncomfortable. Opening the windows helps with the breeze but also lets in the bugs. The place will get mosquito nets later this summer and electricity next year or the following.
Review 67:Charming host Mohammed opens up his renovated family home to guests in this 11th century Ksar. Set apart from the new town, the Kasbah Tebi is the only guest house in the medieval part of the city. The food is excellent, the welcome warm and the atmosphere spectacular.
Review 68:The poor description how to get to the kasbah Tebi.
Review 69:We liked the location, the quiet, the exceptional atmosphere and the friendliness of the owners of the Kasbah. For each of the kasbah searches this is the only one with a storchennest on the tower world heritage site Ait Ben Haddou.
Review 70:Kasbah Tebi...the real thing!!! One of the two restored kasbahs in the UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987, Ait Benhaddou village. Several films have been shot here...and thats the feeling you get...that you "star" in a movie. The kasbah has no electricity and the feeling of having dinner with only candle light is unique. Our room led to a beautiful terrace, from where you can admire the whole valley, where a pelecan and a family of hawks had also built their "homes". In the morning you wake up from the sound of the birds!!1 Mohammed the owner was very helpful. He strolled around the village with us telling us stories about his ancestors and even gave us tips for the rest of our journey. If you want to have such a unique experience we strongly recommend this place.
Review 71:Leaving! (And the option of a mosquito net would be nice)...
Review 72:You can not do better than a stay at Kasbah Tebi! If it's anauthentic, traditonal experience you're after, this is the place. The staff were open, engaging and a great source of information, hospitality and conversation. We really felt instantly at home. Thelocation is amazing. There is little that can beat watching the sun setfrom the top of the Ksar, dinner by candlelight and falling asleep inyour very own kasbar. We loved it so much we stayed twice! It may becometheir mantra; 'Don't stay anywhere else!' In Ait Benhaddouif it's a truly Moroccan experience you're after.
Review 73:No electricity which I could understand the concept to use candles rather than the electric lights. But apart from lights I needed to charge my camera battery and iPhone for GPS. So, I would prefer to have electricities. Window screen could avoid mosquitos and flies.
Review 74:Placed in the Ait-Ben-Haddou and well&newly renovated Kasbah. It was like very quiet secret house. Very friendly staffs.
Review 75:Not only the dinner in the light of candles, authentic berber music, but also the owner of kasbah was very impressing. We strongly recommend this Kasbah, you can taste Africa like nowhere. We would like to come again. It is worth seeing.
Review 76:The very hard mattress. There is no electricity, thus no warm water (but this could be arrange apparently since the installation is existing). For one night it's not a problem.
Review 77:The welcoming was perfect + the tour of the kasbah and the history was a plus! The food was absolutely excellent. The atmosphere is unique and you can imagine how life used to be in the old Ait Benhaddou. This is going back in time and definitely worth it.
Review 78:Everything! Kasbah Tebi is actually in the UNESCO world heritage site of Ait Benhaddou, which currently houses only a few families. The location is unparalleled. Hassan and his brother Muhammed have painstakingly refurbished their old home into a wonderful escape. The home has no electricity and is lit by candlelight, which only adds to its charm and authenticity. The rooms are simple but well thought out. The service is impeccable, personal and genuine and you can see that everyone working here genuinely cares about the guest and the Kasbah. Despite not having some modern day comforts that can be found nearby, it's charm, location and the passion from the owners make it an unforgettable experience.
Review 79:We had an unforgettable day at Kasbah Tebi. Staying inside of the World Heritage site was just an undescribable experience. We woke up at 5:00am to enjoy a beautiful dawn to sunrise from the roof and walking around the kasbah. There was no electricity but so what? Staff in this Kasbah were very friendy and excellent. We will never forget this trip.
Review 80:The bathroom facilities are rudimentary, but the nicely decoratedspacious rooms fully compensate for this.
Review 81:Its location is priceless, you get to experience the old moroccanlifestyle, with its ancient built and candlelight evenings. Rooms arespacious and the traditional decor is quite impressive. Food is abundantand there is a homely feeling to it. There are plenty of nice spaces andterraces to relax after exploring the rest of Ait Ben Haddou.
Review 82:The place is nothing short of magical.
Review 83:If you want to sleep in a real Kasbah you have to try this hotel. It is really an experience worth to try.
Review 84:Awesome place and wonderful riad, many thanks.
Review 85:Great place that I'd recommend. Absolutely unique. Fantastic views, mysterious interiors, friendly owner.
Review 86:A really unique experience. Great hospitality.
