Reviews for Taber Inn

Review 1:It's very nice area and beautiful . rooms very clean beds comfortable breakfast good offer a variety for a continental breakfast coffee excellent also DD right down street all in all I would highly recommend it

Review 2:Miss Maggie, the owner is a kind gracious lady of 88. Since I was traveling alone, she truly made my stay as a single woman safe and secure as if I was staying with my great aunt. A family run inn with feelings of a time past. A pleasure to my family so they would not worry about me.

Review 3:The décor needs to be updated, but I don't care much about that. The continental breakfast had some dirty dishes and old cream cheese - that could be improved on. But we loved the rental we had and the location was great.

Review 4:We had a luxury suite that was a 2-story duplex with a full kitchen, fireplace, 2-bedrooms, decks, etc. It was spacious, clean, enjoyed the fire & spa tub. It was great for us with 3 teenagers - plenty of space and privacy for everyone.

Review 5:We didn't like that we had to leave...

Review 6:The comfort and ease - love the family aspect of it all. Location, the beauty of the grounds and its surroundings... Not to mention the heated pool, which our 2 boys just love.

Review 7:Waiting for coffee and tea until 8 in the morning is not truly reasonable. It would be great to have an in room coffee/tea maker.

Review 8:The staff was very welcoming.

Review 9:It is a little out of the centre of town but there are eating places within walking distance

Review 10:This family run Inn had everything that we needed Our requests were handled professionally and promptly.

Review 11:Can you please raise the temperature in the pool?

Review 12:The room was very clean, convenient and simple. The pool was also very clean and simple for entertaining two young silly boys. Our favorite part was the old school hospitality upon our arrival. We were personally escorted to our room by the lovely innkeeper. You do not get that old fashioned service anymore and it was quite nice. We loved that we could park directly in front of our room. It was very accessible and easy with our two and three year-old boys. I love the Irish influence on this place too. We will definitely stay here again when visiting Mystic and Noank.

Review 13:I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Taber Inn but was very disappointed with breakfast. They really could offer a good selection especially at the high price that I paid.

Review 14:The location is just fine, walking at night was just great. I felt safe. The room was very comfortable and the staff were very friendly.

Review 15:The outrageous price, no assistance with luggage up steep staircases, no amenities in the property, and an extremely minimal cheap breakfast. Over the last 15 years we have stayed at every lodging in Mystic and this was the worst.

Review 16:The fact that we only stayed one night

Review 17:The staff was very friendly. They asked us several times while on the property if we needed anything. The room was clean and had extra bedding and pillows.

Review 18:Shower should have shower heads....that spray is less than soothing. Mattress was lumpy. Took 2 days to figure out how the remote control works.

Review 19:The grounds were serene and pretty.

Review 20:Paid 20 dollars extra for breakfast each day and the owner stated it came with the room but never refended my money it was just a very limited continental breakfast I even showed him the web site showing the 2 different prices

Review 21:Our room was very dated and did not seem very clean (cobwebs in corners, stains and marks on the bed sheets). The AC unit was ancient, loud and barely cooled the room. The back door had only cheap white venetian blinds and lace curtain, so tons of light flooded the room until about 3 am when the outdoor lights were turned off. The continental breakfast was very, very basic (instant coffee only, limited offerings, plastic bowls and cutlery).

Review 22:The location, the friendly staff, the free wifi, easy parking.

Review 23:Beds were uncomfortable in our room- drawer in Chest kept falling out- furniture need upgrading badly and large table was in front of A/C so hew had to move the large to adjust it

Review 24:Location and the girl who recommended that we go to the Harbour House for diner- good walking distance to many attractions

Review 25:Some broken stuff in the room Noisy and old ac The room has seen better days... There wasn't a bed for our kid although the order was for a couple with kids.... No ac in the pool area (which is very humid)

Review 26:Outdoor area is nice and the room had a door straight to the back terrace which was good for the kids Breakfast is simple but good

Review 27:Somewhat dated furniture and decoration. Only one side of bed had a night table. The nice balcony featured a view of the parking lot.

Review 28:Very friendly and helpful staff. Not too far a walk to downtown. Good food and restaurants in the neighborhood. A good bathroom. (There seem to be a number of types of rooms since there are a number of buildings).

Review 29:the decor is extremely dated- some effort should be put into updating the bed linens and draperies at the very least

Review 30:staff was very friendly and helpful

Review 31:The experience was great overall. The grounds are beautiful and the staff is very hospitable. The room was great size...but needs s bit of updating. The breakfast was a bit underpar. The pool water was cold. If they would work on these type of things ...the export cd would be four star.

Review 32:Location ...size of room...reasonably priced...,the owner, son and staff were very friendly.

Review 33:The bed was small, there were ants in the bathroom and crawling on the bed posts. Also the first night we found a bug that looked like a cockroach on the bathroom floor. The room was stuffy and humid, even with the air conditioner in the wall.

Review 34:Staff was friendly

Review 35:- breakfast was meh, nothing hot except toast - wifi coverage was spotty in our room

Review 36:- short walk from downtown mystic - nice, comfy bed - clean and spacious room - very friendly staff

Review 37:Nothing comes to mind.

Review 38:Upon check in the gentleman at the desk actually escorted us to our room. He made sure we were satisfied and all set. Everyone at the Taber was extremely pleasant and accommodating.

Review 39:Bed was super firm. Continental breakfast was repackaged cereal and breads with a few yogurts and bananas and pastry on a plate. If two slices of bread are in a ziplock bag, that means it was handle by someone. It had no dates on the bags, so you have no idea how fresh or stale it was. I would have loved bis quick shake and pour, a waffle iron and some butter.

Review 40:Love the location and friendly staff. Rooms are on the smaller size, but is keeps it cozy. Friendly staff and easy parking. Very clean!

Review 41:Everything was great but I'd something could improve it would be the breakfast, which is a very basic continental.

Review 42:Friendly and helpful staff that went above and beyond to help us plan our visit.

Review 43:The breakfast did not match the hominess and enviance of the inn.

Review 44:The staff was great. Older gal and younger gentleman who seemed to be holding it down were both great. They were very interested in making our stay enjoyable with helpful local suggestions for both dining and entertainment.

Review 45:The Wi-Fi was terrible. Poor signal, slow. Turned it off. The breakfast was terrible. Was expecting a B&B type breakfast and got a mediocre Holiday Inn type continental snack. Coffee was terrible and not available until late (8am).

Review 46:The staff was great. Facilities were very nice.

Review 47:The stove has been removed from the otherwise complete kitchen and there were no washing facilities in the house or complex. They could not even direct us to a laundromat. Minimal tv and no audio visual equipment.

Review 48:The bed was comfortable and the place has pleasant gardens

Review 49:Friendly staff, very clean, great location. We stayed in #14 "standard double room" but it had a back door leading right out to a lovely deck with chairs. I didn't miss the balcony other rooms have, like I thought I would. And the two accesses to outside made it feel so much nicer than a hotel room. I was able to park right outside our front door. No street noise from Williams Ave., very quiet Nicely decorated and VERY clean. Great location and comfortable room. Continental breakfast was ok (saved us some money!)

Review 50:It was only a continental breakfast --was expecting more for what we paid.

Review 51:Loved sitting out on the porch in the morning. It had a feel of a small home.

Review 52:Nothing.

Review 53:We liked everything. The staff was very nice and friendly. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Great shower! And we could go downtown on foot, just 10 minutes walking.

Review 54:Breakfast - only the bare essentials, no warm items, no fresh fruit excaept bananas, all made available in a Spartan breakfast room

Review 55:Could park car in front of room Indoor pool

Review 56:Security, door and access of a Motel style room. Walls are paper thin for noise transmission between rooms, could hear every word of the conversation in the next room. Leftover pieces of soap bar in shower from previous tenant

Review 57:It was quaint, maybe vintage late 60s-70s. Upkeep was very good

Review 58:Breakfast was just oatmeal was expecting waffles or something

Review 59:Sayed in room with fireplace and jacuzzi loved it no complaints about the room itself. Staff was very helpful.

Review 60:Stayed at the Tabor Inn for our anniversary weekend in Mystic. The location in perfect. Staff were so friendly. Rooms are quaint and bed is oh so comfortable- better than staying in the typical hotel. Would recommend it and would stay here again.

Review 61:Bathroom was very small.

Review 62:The staff was very friendly & accommodating. The Indoor pool was nice....the temperature was perfect and I enjoyed the music!

Review 63:The man in the room next door laughed all night - which should have been fine except I could hear him like he was in our room. I feel bad because I liked the people in charge, but that can really sour a stay.

Review 64:It's a sweet place, with a nice welcoming attitude. No frills, but that's okay. I liked the people who were all friendly, the room seemed clean if basic, and parking was easy and convenient, as was having food nearby.

Review 65:The TV's could use an up grade they were small box TVs. They could use a little larger and flat screens. The bedspreads were very outdated. This really did not concern me but a little up date could make the room look much nicer.

Review 66:The staff was super friendly. We traveled with another couple and when we checked in they noticed we were not staying near each other so they put us in rooms right next to each other. The rooms were very clean and our room was very large with a fire place, king size bed, table with 2 chairs wine glasses and a porch. The Bathroom was very large with a whirlpool tub and it was also very clean.

Review 67:Decor is a little dated. Needs more counter space in the bathroom (just the sink). TV's in the rooms were very small and placed very high on the wall. Had plenty of space for flat screen to be placed lower on the wall. Lots of room for a small couch at the end of the bed. The TV was so small it was hard to watch from the bed.

Review 68:Large rooms and bathrooms, comfortable, good balcony space, nice fireplace in room, friendly staff, easy to find, ample parking, indoor pool.

Review 69:I liked everything.

Review 70:The location is great! Near the best of Mystic, but in a very calm and nice place. The house is beautiful. Everything is clean, charming, comfortable. The personnel is extremely kind and helpful.

Review 71:Breakfast was a bit disappointing, only in comparison to the rest of the experience, basic cold cereal/bagels, etc. quite adequate, but we kind of expected home-made or lovely locally baked goods.

Review 72:Quiet, comfortable, clean, convenient location, lovely friendly helpful staff, feels like family,

Review 73:Throw away polystrene plates etc at breakfast

Review 74:Staff were very friendly and helpful Rooms were big and clean Breakfast till 11am was great after a lie in

Review 75:The wi-fi disconnected from my tablet whenever I sat on the bed with my back to the wall. It reconnected if I turned sideways. I would have liked better shades on the back door - lots of light from the porch was shining in all night.

Review 76:The inn was charming, and it was like staying in a friend's guest room. It was a much nicer ambiance than a standard hotel room. The owners were friendly and helpful. I'd recommend the Taber Inn to anyone who wants something more homey than a chain hotel.

Review 77:Could have used screens on the doors because we had two, and opened them for cross-ventilation.

Review 78:Only stayed overnight but didn't have to drive anywhere. Easy walk to the beach, and into town for the afternoon/evening. Comfortable beds and nice cross-ventilation because our room had two doors. Good continental breakfast and very nice owners.

Review 79:Breakfast was all packaged. Expected at least some boiled eggs and fresh fruit or cooked oatmeal.

Review 80:The inn is excellently maintained and very comfortable. Loved the pool and workout equipment.

Review 81:No coffee maker, small frig., view from balcony terrible. Asked front desk for recommendations for dinner and sent us to a horrible tourist trap with overpriced, undercooked food.

Review 82:Rooms were immaculate and very comfortable. Bathroom was large and well stocked. Staff was very friendly and professional.

Review 83:Upon arrival, we were greeted by Maggie who owns the Inn along with her 2 sons. She immediately made us feel welcome, as if we were old friends. All of the staff we happened upon were friendly and greeted us with smiles. This is the place to come to relax and enjoy the atmosphere that Mystic has to offer.

Review 84:The indoor pool was disappointing. Though it is a big area, it is too closed in, and muggy. The chlorine smell was too heavy. There was a "gym" room with 3 machines. Two bikes and one stepper. I could not adjacent the seat on 1 because the pin was stuck in position. I did not ask for help. I couldn't turn on the other bike. The pluses outweigh the minuses.

Review 85:Location was great. Easy access to everything. Staff fantastic. Pretty room. Felt very private, and calm. Nice continental breakfast. Matt and Michelle on staff very informative and helpful.Grounds well kept. There is a beach near by.

Review 86:The breakfast was fine, but if I have any complaint, maybe there could have been a bit more variety day to day. But, it was fine, overall

Review 87:The room was great. We had a jacuzzi tub, a deck, and a lot of space in the room itself. The inn is not right downtown, but a nice 15 to 20 minute walk away. My husband and I are big walkers, so we did not mind the distance at all. The staff were super friendly and helpful.

Review 88:Plenty of towels and pillows! VERY helpful staff, close to seaport and aquarium, lots of trains right behind the building which my kids thought were awesome!

Review 89:Length of stay...it was way too short!! :)

Review 90:Quaint property located in a quiet section of town; walking distance to downtown Mystic; Staff very friendly & welcoming; extremely helpful with any information you may need; Room was VERY clean, comfortable and relaxing. WiFi worked seemlessly; would definitely stay here again!

Review 91:Room needed an easy chair to relax in (plenty of room for it!), Pool bottom needed a cleaning.

Review 92:Big, clean rooms. Friendly, helpful front desk person. The place had a good feeling to it.

Review 93:The fact that it rained my entire stay so I did not get to really sit outside and enjoy the balcony. In that scenario, the only other thing I might have suggested is a bigger TV screen since I had to stay inside for a while. However that would not keep me from returning here to stay next time.

Review 94:I loved the set up of the Inn from the room to the dining room. Everything was clean and smelled clean from the moment I walked into the room. The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful with suggestions of where to go and where to eat, etc. The location was excellent and close to attractions.

Review 95:Don't be fooled by photo, no canopy bed. Bed was awfully small to be the advertised (and paid for) "King", and not very comfortable. Air conditioner was necessary because no cross ventilation.

Review 96:Jacuzzi bathtub, w/separate shower. Room and bathroom were clean. Air conditioner worked well.

Review 97:Maggie and her staff was wonderful, very professional and made us feel most welcome. They could recommended the right museums, bars and restaurants and anticipated our needs.

Review 98:The balcony could have been made more private with dividers. The first morning the coffee was average, the second morning it was terrible...something an Inn should do well is the morning coffee! The rest of the breakfast was good.

Review 99:The room with the fireplace was lovely and i enjoyed the tub. We slept well in the bed and appreciated the easy access to our room from the parking lot. The staff was pleasant.

Review 100:A well-kept, cute, family-run Inn in beautiful Mystic. Both a nice little beach and the village center are close by -- we ended up taking the car into the village but could easily have walked. The place has a certain old-fashioned charm but since everything is clean and in good order, that's actually a compliment -- it's nice to see there still are American Inns like I remember them from my childhood.

Review 101:Beds were not very comfortable

Review 102:Great location, friendly staff nice indoor pool. Nice breakfast. Able to park car right outside of room so very convenient with small children. Room was very clean

Review 103:The staff at Taber Inn were VERY accommodating. The grounds are lovely and room clean and comfortable. We loved their quiet location. It's one of the few remaining gens.

Review 107:Very quaint, clean and friendly place. Good central location.

Review 108:No cooking facilities only microwave.

Review 109:Love this place. We've been coming here for years.

Review 110:Great place for family. Nice pool.

Review 111:Although cottage was sturdy, handrail on one side was loose

Review 112:Staff was extremely friendly!
