Reviews for Kronen Gaard Hotel

Review 1:Kronen Gaard is a lovely hotel in a great location. The restaurantis great, the rooms very comfortable. We wanted accomodations near Stavanger but with a more bucolic feel and Kronen Gaard was perfect! Walking trails are accessable by merely walking out the door and up the street, and the drive to Stavanger and the airport are convenient.

Review 2:Found by chance, it was one of the best hotel we found in Norway. The open buffet as dinner, if you are quite hungry, is very good. Good rooms and no noises all around the hotel

Review 3:You cannot get this ambiance in many places anymore. They have done a stellar job of maintaining it's charm and comfort. Very relaxing place, wonderful food, and super clean! Will stay there again next year.

Review 4:The location was bad for the type of activities we wanted to do (hike Kjerag/ Pleikestolen). For hiking, it's best to stay in Stavanger. But it was fairly easy to take buses/taxi to Stavanger.

Review 5:A very charming, historic, beautiful quiet hotel. We really liked this hotel, the staff was so friendly & accommodating. The breakfast was amazing! The room was big w/ a seating area, free wifi & great shower pressure.

Review 6:Small & a bit outdated rooms (I like "romantic" design, however bathroom equipment could be in better condition), poor breakfast (which is however common across the Norway, i.e. I don't mean bad quality but selection)

Review 7:Friendly staff (first time I heard "welcome to our hotel" in Norway), nice charming-style design of the hotel itself, free parking, close to ferry to Preikestolen, bathtub instead of typical shower), own restaurant (didn't have a change to try however)

Review 8:Food was generally limited to a buffet and at breakfast they often have outside conference people coming, which can mean long queues if you time it wrong. Not good if you are staying and need to have a quick breakfast or want to have a relaxing breakfast. Need to sort this one out please!

Review 9:Nice character hotel in quiet area, but close to Sandnes and scenic areas. Rooms are of good quality and hotel is set in own grounds with gardens.

Review 10:Dining quite expensive. Quite cramped for family room (of 4 people) but en-suite appreciated.

Review 11:Food range was good - both breakfast and dinner. Intimate atmosphere was very nice. Liked the semi-rural location, with supermarket quite close. We appreciated the quiet.

Review 12:I think it is a common problem in Norway: we asked for a double bed, but didn't get it

Review 13:1) fancy old-style hotel 2) firendly staff (we felt ourselves like at home)

Review 14:staff was very nice. Breakfast is excellent. Atmosphere of the hotel is nice. Room was fine. Location was good to visit this area of norway but you should know that it is situated in kind of countryside. In general, I was very happy with Hotel.

Review 15:No wardrobe or drawer space in room rubbish bins not emptied daily

Review 16:Location and friendly staff

Review 17:Location

Review 18:Room was smaller as usually

Review 19:I liked historical hotel interior.

Review 20:No elevators. Lugging heavy suitcases by elderly man a nightmare.

Review 21:Great breakfast Privacy

Review 22:Terrible food at an outrageous price. Everything was bland and dry.

Review 23:The facility was very nice and the staff was great.

Review 24:Great spot, staff was kind and nice, and the food is really worth to try. Clean rooms, and a great location near the Lauvikk ferry and Preikestolen Pulpit Rock.

Review 25:Fairly small hotel in countryside close to Stavanger, coast and fjords/mountains. Some excellent countryside a few kilometres east of the hotel, with lakes and hills. Pulpit Rock about an hour away. Good room and breakfast. Weekday summer buffet was good (NOK 295). Free parking. Reasonable price for the room by Norwegian standards!

Review 26:I've never stayed in a room before that didn't provide tea andcoffee making facilities. We were a wedding party occupying many roomsin the hotel yet they wouldn't provide any free refreshments tillthe wedding was underway

Review 27:Modern, clean

Review 28:The price value was poor. The room simple. Hardly any electrical outlets fpr sellphone or laptop in the room. reading light poor. No elevator or service to carry the luggage up the staircases.

Review 29:The location was convienent.

Review 30:The food was limited, good, but basically only choice is between 2 main courses and the staff was friendly but just friendly, the hospitality level can be more welcoming. But thats Norway anyway. It is also a bit away from everything.

Review 31:Its a very nice building, with some history in a countryside setting. Everywhere old picture on the wall etc. But not old, looks great, and modern big kitchen in the reception area. Rooms are nice, beds very good, candles outside on the terrain at night, good atmosphere.

Review 32:The noise level, which resulted in us paying a hefty price for verylittle sleep. The building is made of wood, so any trucks driving bysend vibrations through the whole structure. The refuse collectiontruck, which stopped-started in the neighbourhood again and again at7.00ish A.M. achieved to convince us we would not be staying anothernight at this hotel. The hotel was in the process of replacing their oldtv sets. Rather than doing it during the few hours separating check outand check in time, they went ahead whilst customers were still there. Wehad left a do not disturb sign on our door, yet returned from a quickbreakfast to find our door wide open and workmen telling us they wouldbe done in a short while. We had to wait to access the bathroom (sincethe bathroom door was very difficult to close, there was no option touse that room whilst they were working in the bedroom) Finally, thehotel is not centrally located. All in all, we were very disappointed.

Review 33:Breakfast and restaurant were ok

Review 34:Room was on top floor and very warm, so needed window open at night. However it overlooked the main road, which was very busy and noisey. Also beds were not comfortable, so not a good nights sleep. They had outside groups (of around 30 people) arriving for breakfast both mornings we were there, which meant you had to que for breakfast if you timed it wrong, so not very good.

Review 35:Very friendly, relaxing hotel with character. In a nice location away from main towns, but within easy drive to business areas. Staff were very helpful and pleasant.

Review 36:Our only problem was our room was on the busy road side so we hadtraffic noise. However I would stay again as everything else wasfabulous.

Review 37:We had a lovely stay at the hotel. It is old and very well done with anew addition for the foyer and kitchen. The kitchen is open plan andthey have excellent food . We had our dinners there and found thequality top notch. Not a wide selection but perfectly adequat Fabulousbreakfast offer. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 38:Close to the rather busy road. Traffic noise in almost all rooms.Exellent price/ performance ratio if you manage to get a good deal (590 NOK per double room inkl. breakfast). If you are not on the lucky side you have to pay for the same room 1795 NOK !!

Review 39:Great location if you wanna go to Lysefford/Preikestolen. Good food, nice facilities, especially for good weather outside dining.

Review 40:Internet connection in the room very poor. No lamp for reading near the bed. Had to get up to switch of the central light.

Review 41:Very good breakfast. Helpful staff. Nicely decorated, according to status - historical. Good place to stay!
