Reviews for Hunter Homestead

Review 1:Plenty of space to sleep and accommodate a group of friends. Great location, very quiet. Fully equipped kitchen making cooking easy. Food for breakfast supplied. Good quality and loads of food.

Review 2:The property doesn't meet the description as advertised! Having stayed in several B&Bs during this trip I would say that it was poor over all.

Review 3:Location

Review 4:Close proximity to the house accommodation can be a bit noisy with a lot of people in it, need to also deal with the cockroaches

Review 5:the location is great, plenty of room in the 2 bedroom cottage, clean and comfortable with everything you need. Especially liked the supply of food for breakfast, a great idea as we arrived late.

Review 6:the space of a family home with everything a group of people needs to stay cool and comfortable...we loved the welcoming breakfast ingredients and the complimentary wine and the outdoor area. The house was lovely and clean and the linen and towells were impeccably clean. We will be back!

Review 7:The Hunter Homestead was the perfect place for my friends and I to stay whilst attending the Groovin the Moo festival in Maitland. The staff were friendly, helpful and even provided breakfast and two bottles of extremely good wine as a welcome to the property. The homestead itself was perfect, with a great undercover outdoor BBQ area and the rooms were neat, clean and comfortable. The bathrooms were also impeccably clean and the towels and linen were all of homely standards. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly and would highly recommend the Hunter Homestead to friends. We will definitely be staying there again next year!

Review 8:The Hunter Homestead is a dilapidated filthy house where no one should be expected to stay. The owner should be forced to spend a night there herself then the excuse of " not realising " or "new cleaner " would not roll off her tongue so easily. When we first arrived the smell in the house was overpowering so we opened all the windows which was a bad move as most of the screens were ripped and we soon had a massive insect problem. The windows themselves looked as if they had not been cleaned in 10 years and the screens were encrusted with dirt. Lamps did not work, plastic flowers covered in dust and spider webs hung from every corner of the ceilings. Our arms literally struck to the dining room table and the kitchen cupboards smelt of mildew. We cleaned up as best we could and loaded the dishwasher with enough crockery for breakfast. Then went to check out the beds. The main bedroom, blood stains on the mattress cover, urine stains on the mattress ( does the owner actually think people who travel don't check) bed 2 the window frame was coming away from the wall and there was a steady march of some kind of beetle from the opening of which the bed was close to. Bedroom 3 screen door was coming of its hinges and banged continually, bedroom 4, the window and screen were so filthy the occupant was going to sleep with her head at the foot of the bed. We all decided that we would rather sleep in the cars than spend a night in this so called " holiday rental " we demanded and got our money back. Thank you so much to the Mecure in Maitland for taking us in at 1am and overlooking our late checkout and shame shame shame to the owner of the Hunter Homestead for ruining our stay in the lovely Hunter Vally. I hope our overseas guests will remember the finer side of Aussie hospitality and not this disaster.

Review 9:We loved the Hunter Valley

Review 10:We were in the Hunter Valley for a wedding and we found the place to be very relaxing and not to far from other bigger towns.

Review 14:comfortable

Review 15:Loved that they provided breakfast

Review 16:The solitude, location, and ambiance.

Review 17:Where to begin... it wasn't very clean, it was covered in cobwebs, cups looked as if the handles had been glued on (one even broke when picking it up), hot water turned off at one point and the accommodation felt really dated. It looked a lot better than it actually was in the photos.

Review 18:Nice and queit

Review 19:Better signage, especially at night . Very dark up that roadway to the cabin. only a suggestion, not a dislike

Review 20:It was nice sharing a wine and looking across the small valley. Staff were very friendly

Review 21:Very basic accommodation. Pantry dirty. 5 tea bags for two days. Coffee in dirty container. Very dated and unkempt facilities.

Review 22:Bed was clean. Breakfast provisions provided were basic but okay. Certainly nothing special provided.

Review 23:However the cottage had too many spiders and spider webs, needs a good clean and is very tired.

Review 24:Breakfast food in refrigerator and bottle of wine on arrival were great.
