Reviews for GamlaVaerket Hotel
Review 1:Bathroom was a bit small
Review 2:Very friendly and helpful staff as always. Great atmosphere and food. It is in a good location, near the station and city center.
Review 3:There wasn't a thing we didn't like about our stay.
Review 4:GamlaVaerket is a lovely little boutique hotel in the centre of the city. It's in an excellent location to visit nearby beaches, or pulpit rock. The rooms are large, airy and bright, and the bathrooms charming and functional (large shower, a bit more room than most). By far the best aspect to this characterful place is the service. We had an issue with our rental car and the staff were unbelievably helpful. It's the best hotel service we've ever experienced (and we're very well-traveled). We enjoyed dinner in the restaurant at night and chowed down on the fabulous breakfast in the morning. The food was lovely too - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others!
Review 5:We experienced a lot of noise on the Saturday night and didn't sleep well - street noise and music until early hours. We ordered 3 portions of chips, only received 2 but paid for 3. I chased but they still didn't arrive. Staff weren't particularly on the ball for food during the day but breakfast was lovely.
Review 6:The position of the hotel and interesting interior. The bed was huge and comfortable.
Review 7:The hotel rooms are not really in the same style as the bulding and the restaurant. For the rest the rooms are OK
Review 8:Very friendly and helpful people; very nice restaurant & bar in a very nice old building
Review 9:Little bit '1990's' impression of the room
Review 10:Our room was on the same level with the train station. No free parking
Review 11:The breakfast
Review 12:Really enjoyed the staff as I had nice chats with them. Breakfast was great and location was great for BLINK fest.
Review 13:Great breakfast, kind staff, really nice rooms. Great location in the center of Sandnes. I can highly recommend this hotel to other travelers :)
Review 14:Very friendly and helpful staff
Review 15:bed was too short for me:) 190 cm?
Review 16:old house
Review 17:Too much noice from the street in the night
Review 18:I liked everything. Fantastic restaurant... Fantastic breakfast.. Bread so tasty that I had to buy and bring home :) :)
Review 19:None
Review 20:Very good breakfast.Helpful stuff,good wifi,great location.
Review 21:Wildly overpriced rooms - if this was not an oil activity area the week day room rate would be half what they charge for fairly basic rooms. Considering that Norway has some excellent craft breweries now, why do they sell such awful mass produced beer in an otherwise good resturant?
Review 22:Staff are good, nice surroundings in restaurant.
Review 23:I found nothing to criticise
Review 24:I found a good deal for this hotel which was some 700NKR cheaper than other hotels. Check in was a little slow at first as I didn't see the button to summon the staff - the restaurant was very busy being the week before Christmas. After that, it was slick and I was quickly in my room. The corridors are spartan and the room is best described as rustic, tying in with the hotel name which means 'Old Workshop' I was told. The room was spacious, warm and comfortable. Take a book as there wasn't much for non-English speakers on the telly. WiFi is freely available throughout the hotel. I went back down to reception to see if I could eat in the busy restaurant. I was courteously told that there would be a short wait whilst a table was readied. I was shown a to a sofa and offered a glass of wine. The menu is in Norwegian, understandably, but my waitress was very helpful explaining it and the choice of the Christmas buffet. I opted for the lutefisk, a Norwegian specialty, and not something I had tried before. As it was served I was told that the chef would do me something else if I didn't like it, which was really generous. I did it and it wasn't so bad. I had a good night's sleep and the buffet breakfast was excellent with many choices. The hotel is just a couple of minutes from the railway station and the bus interchange but is also by the shops which have great displays and not one Primark to be seen! Overall, a good stay with friendly and helpful staff and an excellent restaurant.Remember, this is Norway so will be more expensive than the UK. but to my mind was relatively good value
Review 25:The behind the desk staff always went out of their way to help us w/directions to each place we wanted to go, and w/phonecalls we needed to make.
Review 26:The design of this hotel was very nice and the ambience was veryrelaxing. Our room was very spacious. The dining area for breakfast wasvery unique, a sort of Norwegian country style. The breakfast buffet wasexcellent. The front desk was very helpful.
Review 27:Our room, facing the train and bus stations, was extremely noisy at night. Arriving trains screeched into the station. One night there was a party below our window which did not end all night. We asked to move but were told that the hotel was booked and moving us would not be possible.
Review 28:The staff was very helpful and professional. Everyone was very friendly and we, for the most part, enjoyed the hotel. It is unique as it is a small converted factory. Our room was in the "new" building facing the mall and the train station. The room was spacious but noisy.
Review 29:All ok
Review 30:The reception. This was the first time in this trip (3 weeks) that I was assisted with my luggage. Great building, period features Nice restaurant with interesting guests Good room with WiFi and TV Good breakfast
Review 31:We booked two single rooms but had to stay in an apartment and share bathroom. My friend got a room that was more like a closet. The staff did not clean our area on Saturday and anybody at the hotel could have access to the apartment. It was almost impossible to sleep during the night as the noise was terrible. On Sunday we missed bread for breakfast and above all we had to pay full price. The staff also behaved as they were very inexperienced and in number they were too few
