Reviews for Hotel Soltroia - Foz Do Sado
Review 1:"Feels like somebody put a lot of effort on creating and furnishing the hotel, and then left". Quote from the girlfriend that says it all. Service-lady was more interested in her laptop then in the occasional customer that came down for breakfast. Had to ask for cheese and such. Got a wet behind because the pillows on the (roofed) terrace had not been removed from the chair during the rainy night, so they were still wet, even though it had been dry since morning. A little more service would go a long way with this hotel
Review 2:Location is good, right next to the river. Beautiful house, and if you have a room on the back the view from the balcony is very nice as well
Review 3:The shower glass was missing, someone broke it. The cd/dvd player was physically broken. Very nice clean place but needs maintenance, has not been kept up to its original standards, minor detail.
Review 4:Location
Review 5:Indication for Hotel Sol Troia only once on the road, villas opposite side of the road are also called Sol Troia. Beds are rather hard, breakfast served at 8:30: too late
Review 6:The river view
Review 7:The woman greeting us was not at/all welcoming. The hotel has potential but is not being maintained well. They seem to not care if they have guests
Review 8:The view from our room was wonderful.
Review 9:A very good hotel for summertime, but with 5 degrees outside and heating not working, confort was poor. There was also a very unpleasant and annoying smell (from Portucel : a manufacture of paper pulp)!!!
Review 10:Excelent location just in front of the Sado river, and near the beach. Wonderfull: dophins swiming while taking our breakfast
Review 11:View on industrial zone through Sado River. Haze can help but not all the time. Big tanker with working engine parking nearby and low frequency noisy came from the engine whole day long (hope, it was a case only). Sado River nearby the hotel is too ditry to swim and one has to go (better to drive) to the opposite side of the peninsula to the ocean beach with a clear water. To have a dinner, if you like to have a good choice, you should drive 15 km to Comporta but it is not a problem. Who does not like to drive can be served at the hotel. Finally, in the last moring a heavy smell of cellulose plant came to our room from opposite side of the River. No hang at the bathroom.
Review 12:Very small hotel located in a club village. Very friendly stuff. Good small swimming pool. Good breakfast.
Review 13:Very quiet location. Perfect place to explore Troia and Comporta. Good value accomodation.
Review 14:almost no hot water for shower, bad ventilation, poor breakfast
Review 15:From the location (beautiful Troia) until the staff (3 nice and helpfull Girls) everything was 5 Star
Review 16:Heavy wind, even bringing in leaves through the small gap below the room door. Bed is quite hard. Breakfast starts late (9:30)!
Review 17:Homely feel
Review 18:Nothing
Review 19:The hotel and location are great
Review 20:Wi-Fi only in ground floor.
Review 21:Girl in reception was brilliant. View in window to night lights of Setubal.
Review 22:The air conditioned was not working. The jacuzzi was also broken. The hotel needs some real maintenance
Review 23:The hotel wasn't open in the evenings for meals so we had to drive out to find dinner. There were no restaurants within walking distance however the village of Comporta was just 10 minutes in the car and we found some great places there to eat.
Review 24:The hotel was lovely and clean. The location would be hard to beat .... right on the beach with a great view. We found the staff extremely helpful and would definately recommend the hotel to friends.
Review 25:Lack of hot water on first full day, which took us back to guest houses of our youth.
Review 26:The location is great and the views of the river from our room were fabulous. The staff were local and gave us some really good tips on local restaurants which were excellent.
Review 27:The staff. There was only one person available. In the rooms you can t have wi -fi signal. And there was a huge confusion about the price and the payment.
Review 28:The view from the room was very nice. The hotel is very near to the beach.
Review 29:Mosquitoes that drove us off the beach. Overbuilt resort that occupied most of the neighborhood.
Review 30:Carla is an angel. The room was beautiful. Loved the jetted tub and the kitties.
Review 31:The suite we had was poor. Smelt of damp, mould on the walls, dirty windows, pathetic shower. Balcony was walled in so you have no view of the river unless you stood up. Assume double room s on first flor are better and cheaper.
Review 32:Great position, close to beach and lovely pool. Friendly , attentive staff. Good value evening meal , freshly cooked.
Review 33:The room was full of mosquitos and we wake up with all our body full of bites. So if you so there take precautions. i`m alergic and it was a nightmare.
Review 34:Location, the beach, the hotel, be so quiet.
Review 35:Cats in the dining room! Ants in bedroom (as mentioned by other reviewer)! Dinner quality poor and very expensive for Portugal (wine €13!!). Charged €2 for milk with a cup of tea!
Review 36:Fantastic location; lovely property. Young lady who does everything is very peasant and helpful
Review 37:the English of the staff was poor, however we have managed communication successfully
Review 38:very pleasant, silent, ideal for families or friends looking for relaxation
Review 39:The room smelled terribly, and it was said to be a 4 star-hotel, allthough the price wasn't 4 star the hotel wasn't either.
Review 40:The pool is very relaxed and beautiful. Furthermore the appartmentroom was spacious.
Review 41:It would be good to have an itemised, proper invoice, rather than wonder what's on the pieces of paper the staff have used to list what we have bought, when we paid our bill.
Review 42:My wife was unwell for a short while and the owner of the hotel personally made her a herb infusion to drink which was such a nice personal touch and helped my wife. The view from the hotel is beautiful; priceless. The breakfast was wonderful and the happy, helpful staff made our stay relaxed and comfortable.
Review 43:Simply the worst restaurant imaginable, everything was pre-fabricated (even the chips) - and very modest breakfast
Review 44:Great location Nice rooms with view Access to beach
Review 45:Room decor outdated and in need of deep cleaning. One of the staff members was extremely rude on a couple of occasions, unlike the remaining members.
Review 46:Nice pool, not-so-bad location in troia if you are driving.
Review 47:For the price, and for 4 stars, we had a lot of issues we shouldn'thave had. Ants: Our bathroom suddenly had a disturbing ant infestationbehind the toilet and across the entire floor. Granted, we had a smalldog with us and it's possible she left pieces of dog food aroundthat attracted these, but this does not explain the colony behind thetoilet. I went to ask for an insecticide but I could not locate any ofthe hotel staff. I waited 15 minutes in reception, then returned to myroom to call. The room phone did not work! So, I returned downstairs, waited another 15 minutes, knocking on doors where I thought I heardvoices (there was no indication of what to do in this case, no bell toring, etc). After one more round of this I found someone. When I did, toher credit, she was very helpful. Beach: they tell you it's a"private beach" but its on a river and the water does not lookor smell very appetizing. There is a huge concrete pipe right at theentryway to the beach. It is not a beach you want to spend much time on.Mold: the design of the room was fantastic, and must have been new nottoo long ago, but our room had a good deal of mold and peelingwallpaper. It was enough to smell and be unpleasant. Wifi: the hotelclaims in the room manual that you have free wifi everywhere, but weonly had it downstairs in the common areas. Tv/dvd: We had a greatplasma tv but there were only 7 stations. They allow you to rent dvdsfor 1 Euro (the very kind staff did not make us pay), but the dvdmachine did not work, either. Phone: as mentioned, did not work, despiteplugging and unplugging. I saw later that there was a .40 Euro chargeper call, which seems a bit much when you are paying 75 Euros anight...if you can get it to work. When you shut out all the whitenoise of the problems mentioned above, the hotel SEEMED nice. Again, the views were lovely. But it is simply very overpriced for what you end up getting.
Review 48:The staff was great: very friendly and generally attentive when theywere around. Design quite nice and modern, views are fantastic! Quitequiet and relaxing location. Quite good breakfasts! They give you eggsand bacon and fantastic fruits.
Review 49:A well appointed small boutique type hotel, decor was very good abiancerelaxing. Loved walk to beach did not use pool but looked inviting. Veryuncommercial a great spot to relax and unwind. Great location to stay ifyou wish to get off the beaten track but want the facilities of a resort5 kms away. Great spot to stay if you wish to play golf at Troia.
Review 50:Beautiful area ! Superb beaches !
Review 51:very beatiful view, hotel is very small and feels almost like private home
Review 52:room views
Review 53:The bathroom had a few ants walking around.
Review 54:The staff was very nice and accommodative of any request made.
Review 55:The hospitality was by far the best...was staying with senior citizen and a pet...could not have been better...plan to go back again and again.....
Review 56:The hotel was closed when we arrived
Review 57:The staff was very friendly
Review 58:Our room was on the garden side but this means street side. Book a room on the riverside.
Review 59:Friendly staff
Review 60:Very remote. Next supermarket 20 minutes by car.
Review 61:Nice hotel, friendly staff. Very nice hotel.
