Reviews for The Whaler's Inn

Review 1:The room temperature was difficult to control and, therefore, the room was always too hot. We had to open the door a bit in January. Not a big deal, but a waste of resources.

Review 2:Love the location and the staff and the quaintness of the inn.

Review 3:We just got engaged in NYC and stayed at the Whalers Inn on our way home. Absolutely amazing place! Would recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable, clean, warm and welcoming place to stay in the perfect location! The Whalers Inn has it all!!!!

Review 4:Only downside was the Shower was small in the room I stayed in this time.

Review 5:This place is a great place to stay! Staff super friendly and very clean and comfy to stay at!

Review 6:In a busy place, so a little loud. The front desk staff were nice, but not overly helpful on recommendations. Not terrible, but expected more for the price.

Review 7:Right in Mystic. Rooms were nice. Looks like a historic place.

Review 8:Location, location, location. The hotel is situated smack in the middle of downtown Mystic about 10 minute walk to Seaport and even less to most restaurants so it's ideal for the mobile traveler. Rooms were clean, comfortable and cozy. Continental breakfast is included and it is a nice spread with attentive staff.

Review 9:Wonderfully historic feel with modern amenities where it counts. Bed and linens were ultra comfortable, location is in the center of town, and free parking and wifi too.

Review 10:n/a

Review 11:We couldn't have asked for a better location. The staff were very friendly, they even had a plate of delicious chocolate chip cookies setting out for the guest when checking in. Our room was nice, spacious very comfortable and clean. The free breakfast in the morning was perfect with everything from bananas to waffles and yogurt and orange juice.

Review 12:Nothing bad to report here!

Review 13:Loved this historic inn, perfectly placed for visiting the real downtown Mystic and the surrounding areas….the complementary cookies in reception and continental breakfast! Room 38 has nice four-poster bed and sitting area….

Review 14:Our lovely room was in an historic annex to this hotel which is in the very heart of Mystic and only a five minute walk from Mystic Seaport, the largest maritime museum in the world.

Review 15:Great location in Mystic and quiet luxurious spacious room, with the most comfortable bed. Breakfast was adequate, staff welcoming and they handed us on arrival a very helpful plan of local attractions.

Review 16:Breakfast was like a chain with low-end, pre-packaged muffins. Ditto for bathroom amenities.

Review 17:Charming & wonderfully located inn. Loved the individually decorated rooms.

Review 18:. The staff were very friendly the rooms charming clean quiet and comfortable. The old building has its ups and downs with some slanted floors that I understand are due for renovation. But this is an old historic Inn so don't change it too much. A definite good choice for a stay in Mystic

Review 19:Nothing, would definitely stay here again.

Review 20:Great location, nice people, breakfast was typical continental but decent and clean. Very quiet, which was great and off street parking.

Review 21:I would love to see some muffins or pastries at the breakfast...

Review 22:The location to the Village is excellent, we always love to stay within "walking distance" of our visit...the room was wonderful and very convienent ( second floor)...

Review 23:On the 3rd floor, no elevator.my parents had a hard time with the stairs and their luggage.

Review 24:The location and with how clean the rooms were. The decor was nice. Staff was very friendly.

Review 25:The AC was a disappointment. Set on a timer, it came on sporadically during the night for 7-second intervals (we counted) making sleep during the hot July nights a regrettable experience.

Review 26:The queen bed was incredibly comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and offered the widest variety of healthy choices we have ever seen in a hotel. The staff was very helpful setting us in the right direction for a most enjoyable stay.

Review 27:Wonderful, friendly and helpful staff. Inn is in a great location,,, within walking distance to Seaport, downtown and great restaurants. Facility was very clean and well maintained

Review 28:The location is great. We stayed in a standard queen room, which was charming, clean, and felt like home away from home. Already planning our next stay, will probably try a suite with jacuzzi tub. Great for couples. I would also recommend Bravo Bravo restaurant next door.

Review 29:Hotel has no elevator. Difficult for seniors to climb to second or third floor with baggage. Should be disclosed when making reservation.

Review 30:Great location in Mystic,Ct.Comfortable,

Review 31:The staff was nice and helpful. I ordered a queen size bed but was disappointed when the bed was actually a full size. The room was clean enough and in a great location.

Review 32:NO elevator, third floor walk up - Not good with a bad knee. The bed was very hard, with a lot of creeks. Not comfortable and you were woken up by the creeks every time you moved.

Review 33:Location - walking distance to all. Breakfast, yogurts, fruits, bagels, YUM! Spacious room and excellent FREE wifi!

Review 34:Well sited to be able to walk and explore the local area. Arrived early so we left our cases and did just that. On return our cases had been taken up the stairs (no lift) to our room for us which was much appreciated. Breakfast had plenty of choices. Would definitely stay again.

Review 35:Nothing everything was perfect! Parking was easy, planning for dinner simple and excellent food and service!!!

Review 36:Deal so we can afford two night. As a couple with children it's hard to get away. You are close to us and would love a mini vacation with you for two nights. Especially next year when we celebrate our 20th anniversary together.

Review 37:The soft, old bed needed to be replaced. The decor is from the late 1980's. Parking can be a bit of a problem.

Review 38:The reason to stay in this hotel is the location. It's great to walk to shops and restaurants. The staff is very friendly.

Review 39:We should have stayed longer, next time we will. It is in the perfect location to walk to all the sights of Mystic.

Review 40:Location, facilities, price, comfort.

Review 41:There was not much support in the queen-bed Rm. 26 in the Main hotel - very soft and my husband and I found that we rolled into the center of the bed.

Review 42:Great location in Mystic within walking distance of shops and restaurants. The hotel restaurant was not open opened on Monday night in April. The continental breakfast was very good with a variety of choices including delicious bakery made pastries and health bars.

Review 43:The breakfast was just OK...

Review 44:My partner and I came for an overnight stay to celebrate our anniversary. ..I mentioned this to the staff beforehand via email, and when we arrived I found out we had been upgraded from a Standard Queen size room, to a newly renovated King room! This was a pleasant surprise, and it made our mini vacay that much more enjoyable :)

Review 45:The "free" internet is absolutely terrible. When it works, it is very slow. It disconnects every other two minutes. The buffet breakfast is another problem. Its limited and stale because it's recycled. Lastly, you can tell it's an old establishment because it smells. They should definitely decrease the price of the room.

Review 46:Everything else but Location Price was extremely high considering accomidations....Staffs reccomeb nations for restraints was terrible all very High priced for a young family on a budget it was not possible

Review 47:Location

Review 48:Unfortunately our room did not have hot water for showering despite running the water for a few minutes. The heat wasn't adequate as well with an older radiator.

Review 49:We enjoyed the close proximity to Mystic Aquarium and the Seaport.

Review 50:Needs new mattresses in rooms. We were suppose to get a free gift for booking Sunday but never got it? Stayed Sunday the 22nd in rm 28 nice rm.

Review 51:Decor was excellent and convenience to town was great and the staff was excellent

Review 52:no king size bed. Shower was tiny. The heating unit made noise all night.

Review 53:Great location close to the drawbridge. We had dinner at the bravo bravo on new years eve. Was great! Was very nice to just walk next door to retire for the night.

Review 54:Room was a little drafty. Had to ask innkeeper to turn up the heat. Bed was on the soft side. Continental breakfast wasn't anything special.

Review 55:Location Free parking Chocolate cookies in the afternoon Free wifi Coffee and tea Good shower Good value. Nice sized room. Friendly and helpful staff.

Review 56:The mattress was squishy, and the person who weighs less finds herself sliding down a little slope toward her partner...

Review 57:Location, decor, people working there, nice room on first floor

Review 58:We were on the first floor and needed to carry our heavy suitcases up the stairs as there is no lift. Its not a big disadvantage if you are fit - but you need to be aware of it !

Review 59:We loved our room with its period features and it was just a short walk into the centre to find restaurants and the beautiful harbour. Breakfast was really nice.

Review 60:Floors and staircases leaning in all directions. Not a problem to stay but I wouldn't buy the building.

Review 61:Very comfortable and quiet, excellent restaurant adjacent.

Review 62:For our circumstances, would have preferred the facility of a lift as getting our cases up two flights of stairs was a little bit of a problem for us.

Review 63:Quaint inn in a marvellous location in a really lovely village. Good car parking facilities, and the complimentary breakfast was excellent for choice.

Review 64:It was a bit tight in the bathroom, but understandably it is an old hotel.

Review 65:Corner room - great views of the town. I haven't slept that soundly away from home in YEARS! The front desk away awesome, asking about my stay, giving suggestions for dinner, asked how it was, etc

Review 66:We spent one night at the Whaler's Inn. Our room was perfect, loved the charm of the Inn.The staff were friendly and helpful. Hope to go again soon. Loved Mystic

Review 67:Advertised Wi-Fi in every room, but none available in ours, and nothing the management offered to do. Access required standing in the corridor outside the room - not ideal....

Review 68:Spacious and comfortable room. Good view of the bridge, water and boats passing under the lifting bridge. Excellent location for a variety of restaurants

Review 69:Wish there had been a "lift" to the upstairs rooms in the Hoxie House.

Review 70:We came to Mystic for a romantic getaway and were thrilled with our luxurious accommodations at The Whaler's Inn. The room was spacious, with elegant decor (great artwork with nautical themes), a gas fireplace, an awesome over-sized spa tub, and a bed that was so cozy we hated to get up in the morning! The staff were friendly...even provided fresh baked cookies daily in the reception area. Breakfast was plentiful daily. The location can't be beat...it's just across from the historic drawbridge. Watching the boat traffic was fun for us out-of -towners!

Review 71:The staff was extremely accommodating. I mentioned we needed to leave very early and ask if coffee would be available. They not only had fresh coffee ready but breakfast items too. They went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend the Whaler Inn for your next stay in Mystic or Connecticut!

Review 72:Leaving after one night!!!!

Review 73:Lovely hotel. Great location. Room excellent. Complimentary breakfast and afternoon tea and cookies! Parking easy and free, and right outside our room.

Review 74:Secondary double glazing rattled through the night, nothing we could do to stop it. Shame really, everything else ok.

Review 75:Really good location, good reception service, large room in quaint olde worlde house with rickety stairs. Free breakfast, good selection of baked goods and fruits. Free WiFi.

Review 76:Whalers Inn is a fabulous building in a great location in Mystic.. we were very tired and jet lagged when we arrived , but had a great sleep ,pleasant breakfast and enjoyed our stay, it was our first American Inn and knew it was going to be a good holiday.

Review 77:leaving!

Review 78:enjoy the proximity to great restaurants and the free music show at the park by the water and loved! Love brunch and it's easy casual access

Review 79:Our 3rd floor room was a walk up - no elevator.

Review 80:We stayed just 1 night , and loved the unique nature of a vintage hotel. It is located in the heart of the village with easy walking to restaurants and shopping. The room was super clean, well equipped with the usual amenities, and nicely decorated. The front desk staff were friendly and accommodating, and delicious cookies were served in the lobby. I would definitely stay here again.

Review 81:Nothing, All Good.

Review 83:There wasn't anything we did not like.

Review 84:The location was great and convenient to everything we wanted to do. The staff as very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, well maintained, and the bed was very comfortable.

Review 90:The linens were slightly stained, however they felt luxurious. The tv remote did not work. Perhaps all it needed was a new battery, but was annoying after a long day of traveling and sightseeing.

Review 91:The location was perfect for walking into town and also close to other attractions. Our room overlooked the drawbridge which gave a nice atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Review 92:Our room was lovely and comfortable. I booked with no knowledge of the place at all and we were very pleasantly surprised. It was comfortable, quiet, clean and a short walk to great shopping and restaurants. Right on the Mystic River by the drawbridge. We will definitely go back to this Inn!

Review 93:Cannot think of anything negative about our stay!

Review 94:We stayed in newer part of hotel; room seemed brand new. We were only there overnight, but will most definitely consider this property when we return to this area. So glad we didnt go with 'chain' hotel! Parked our car and walked almost everywhere. Lovely hotel with charm and great location!

Review 95:Top floor was a long way with heavy suitcases, and the queen bed was a little too soft but all of this was more than compensated for by the great hospitality.

Review 96:The location was superb, and although we arrived early the staff did all they could to give us an early check in. We liked the hotel so much we booked in again on our return journey to New York.It was good to have breakfast included. Staff were helpful with information and provided discounted tickets to the Sea Port. It was also great to have a seating area in the room to relax in.
