Reviews for Troia Design Hotel

Review 1:We were in a room next to a very noisy family group - the hotel has little sound proofing... Despite the best efforts of the staff to appease the situation, we had to move rooms at 1.30am and shortened our stay, checking out the following morning.

Review 2:The friendly staff

Review 3:Maybe could do with a few more local restaurants

Review 4:My favourite hotel for a relaxing break. Clean, friendly staff and nice gym, swimming pool and spa facilities. Ax great place to recharge the batteries. Probably best for older couples over 35

Review 5:The area was practically closed for the season with only one restaurant open. Design of hotel was dark and a bit soulless.

Review 6:The room and bathroom were excellent. Modern and luxurious. Views were fabulous.

Review 7:Nothing. As perfect a stay as one could hope for.

Review 8:I travel all across the world. This is the best hotel I've stayed in, hands down. Fantastic staff, excellent location and incredible rooms for the relatively low price. Coming back for my honeymoon.

Review 9:The hotel struggles from poor construction and poor management. It's very new (built in 2009) but already full of scratches, cracks, stains and cries for full renovation. Doors barely work, dirty windows, stained floors and cracked walles dont give a good value for money.

Review 10:Great location, outstanding mouthwatering views of the lagoon! Take the room high and enjoy it. Big spacious and comfortable rooms! Good breakfast as well and nice SPA and massages, fast internet. Free parking, easy access via Ferry boat!!!

Review 11:Very noisy during the big events like a conference or concerts. Freezing water in the swimming pool.

Review 12:Perfect localisation with the beautiful ocean view. Very comfortable and big room. Nice restaurant.

Review 13:Early checkout, old room furniture, the noise while filling the hot water room cylinder, window blinds let in plenty of light, lack of balcony maintenance (the hotel could and should look brand new with little exterior intervention), prices.

Review 14:Large bed, modern and well equipped toilet, panoramic elevators, free parking, dining room, late breakfast.

Review 15:Hotel needs to be improved in a few areas. Showers tend to flood - silly design - and service quality needs to improve. Much more 4* than 5*.

Review 16:Location, hotel design, wifi and staff.

Review 17:The staff in charge of the bar and the restaurant was not competent at all. It is unbelievable that a 5-star hotel hires people who cannot say a word in English

Review 18:The location is amazing owing to the views

Review 19:Nothing relevant to report.

Review 20:The room was spacious and well decorated; location is good but still a 10' walk to the beach; nice breakfast. Overall recommendable.

Review 21:We got the 14th floor suite with the jacuzzi on the balcony! The view from the room was breathtaking and all the hotel services matched the 5 star rating! Amazing experience!

Review 22:I think the value of the food is abit too much .. Very good quality however not much choice in the b&g restaurant menu

Review 23:The view of the room was amazing and the location is very good next to the beaches

Review 24:The kitchen should have a set of small plates and cutlery as a minimum, besides the existing glasses. Also, at a hotel of this level, a toothbrush set must be included in the amenities.

Review 25:Great location and delicious breakfast.

Review 26:Everything is wonderful. We dinner at the hotel and meal and service was perfect. Breakfast is complete, good fruit, presentation, quality...no complaints at all. Troia is an amazing destination to relax and enjoy wilderness beaches. A must see are the Roman historic site.

Review 27:If you like children jumping on the sofas at 11 p.m. or later at the bar, if you like an overbooked breakfast room where you have to wait for your turn, if you like the room made at 5 p.m., if you like toilet doors that do not close and such things, this 5 (five) star Hotel is the ideal Hotel for you.

Review 28:The decor of the public areas is too dark. Hard bed. The cleanliness should have been better. Most of the spa equipments were in maintenance.

Review 29:For the kids the heated pool is great. The location is marvelous where you don't need the car. Rooms are big with a great view.

Review 30:if i was being pedantic: 1)Hotel should provide an option of "shared" transportation to Lisbon International - say on the hour / free of charge or for a nominal fee ? €125 taxi each way is similar to 2 night stay ! ... 2) Drain smell from bathroom each morning (gone after approx 2 hours) 3)exercise room well under expectation, needs a proper gym.

Review 31:hotel: room, location, view, food, staff, pool, bar, service, location location, location. value for money. accommodation of both business and leisure traveller. pool side bar / restaurant / bbq was exceptional. Spa hi quality and good value.

Review 32:The bathrooms could have a bit more shelf space for personal items, as well as a better shower protection so that the water does not overflow into the rest of the floor.

Review 33:The location is great, the view was fantastic and the staff extremely nice and helpful.

Review 34:The only problems I encountered were that I traveled solo but the price is for 2 people (so basically I paid too much for only 1 person but it's a good price if you go with another person), and also something very common in hotels the mini bar doesn't have that much variety and it is crazily overpriced.

Review 35:Location, staff, room, amazing breakfast.

Review 36:Food in pool too poor for a 5* hotel

Review 37:The room was beautiful y decorares, with good linen and comfortable bathroom They prepared the small bed with no problem Best views in Troia!!!

Review 39:A simpatia do antendimento.

Review 40:i go the impression that it seems to be an issue on taking breakfast to the room, i had to bring a super hot kettle of tea to the room by hand through the hotel. It was said on arrival that it was ok to bring the breakfast to the room in a tray, but when i asked a server he said "i dont think you can". Didnt like this.

Review 41:Confort, a very good place for resting.

Review 42:I just don´t understand that an hotel do not include nespresso capsules on the offering room price, even if increase 5 euros.

Review 43:The hotel facilities in special the koala club for the kids, very good.

Review 44:i) a bit overpriced

Review 45:i) the staff was very attentive and helpful - we were allowed to make early check in as requested in our booking, as well as a late check out; ii) the location of the hotel is excellent, close to the beach and Tróia' facilities; iii) rooms and food were great

Review 46:The AC made a high-pitched noise every hour or so, for a couple of seconds; The bathroom door wouldn't close and there was noise from other bathrooms at night; The staff in the restaurant wasn't very professional sometimes (they would reprimand each other for not doing things properly), and it took more than 30 minutes for our dessert to come; Our room also had quite a lot of hairs when we arrived.

Review 47:Design, Location, Breakfast! The quality of the food in the Restaurant.

Review 48:The rooms are a bit older than expected. The hotel is very dark and there is a lack of fluent English speaking staff. The hotel should have arrangements with the company that manages the beaches.

Review 49:We liked that the hotel had a rooftop with an outdoor pool. The bedrooms had quiet air conditioning, which is a must. The breakfast, that was included in the rate, was abundant and freshly cooked.

Review 50:Some slightly tatty bits - cracked windows and tired exterior but still a very nice hotel. Quiet, purpose built, location, but short drive from Comporta which is lovely.

Review 51:Huge rooms, lots of space. Lovely pool. Very close to beaches and a few cafes

Review 52:Spa and pool close early in evening, not possible to go after dinner, so difficult to use if staying only 1 night

Review 53:Lovely view from window, nice pool lounge, easy walk to beach, friendly staff

Review 54:- Outdoors pool not heated; too cold to be used even in June - Small indoor pool

Review 55:- Very helpful staff - Nice and modern design - Unique location - Nice breakfast - Convenient free parking in the garage - Very nice restaurants on the marina next to the hotel

Review 56:Hotel was wonderful, the hotel staff were really great to us at all times. Our room was huge very spacious. Fantastic views from our balcony. Breakfast was brilliant so much choice. Location wonderful. A really relaxing holiday!

Review 57:Not enough food options for meals walking distance, but there are great ones 15min by car. The curtains didn't fully close, but that was it.

Review 58:Nice building, facilities, staff. Nice casino, Beautiful beaches walking distance and even better 15min by car.

Review 61:The support staff is friendly but still in training so on a Monday-Wednesday in off season restaurant service was rather slow.

Review 62:The location and value of the hotel is great

Review 63:The service in the pool area on the 3rd floor was slow and sometimesnon-existent. At one point I had to help myself to towels and loungercushions as there simply was not a single member of staff aroundanywhere. On another occasion we had to order a drink three timesbefore it arrived. The price of the Nespresso capsules in the room (3€each) is ten times the normal price. I realize they need to charge amargin, but that is utterly outrageous. 3€ for a coffee I have to makemyself? No thanks. Even the coffee in the hotel bar is cheaper. Bewarned that unless you visit Troia in full summer season (July andAugust) everything you eat and drink will have to be at the hotel orbought from the local supermarket. There is not a single other bar, cafe or restaurant that is open. Yes, it's a 5 star hotel, but theroom prices are too high for what you get, especially out of season (wewent in May).

Review 64:The hotel is very nicely designed, especially the open top to bottomatrium with the corridors around it. The rooms also have a very modernand well designed decor. The "buffet" dinner and breakfast areexcellent.

Review 65:The kitchen was without any items to cook with. which made it impossible to even boil some water for a tea. Also, charging 3€ for an nespresso was a bit too much.

Review 66:The apartment was bigger than any flat I have ever lived in!! The staff was incredibly nice and friendly. The views from the apartment were amazing. Full kitchen

Review 67:Just wondering why there was a kitchen but no utensils or plates provided, not even an electric kettle

Review 68:I like that there is so much space. The hotel used good materials. However they should maintain the property even if there isn't a lot of people

Review 69:There was nothing that I didn't like about the hotel

Review 70:loved everything about the hotel. The room was beautiful, the view was outstanding, the pool and facilities were incredible and the breakfast was spot on! The staff were all very friendly and polite. Can't fault the hotel in any way

Review 71:Customer service not great. Wifi poor. Running out of food and drink at bar and restaurant. Some customer facing staff had little or no English.

Review 72:Location Design of hotel

Review 73:There is not much to do on Troia. if you want solitude - a 3-hour beach walk where you see no-one - you have come to the right place. The lively bar is in the casino next door, if there is anyone there. Most people take the catamaran ferry to Setubal for an evening.

Review 74:The hotel is fine for the price. Breakfast is fantastic. We had a 3-course breakfast every day and didn't need to eat much else! The staff are friendly and willing and the maid service is great. Cleanliness is good. We also had a fantastic view. We hired a car from the airport. drove to the setubal catamaran ferry, parked for free for the week and then just drove back at the end.

Review 75:No real problems, would have liked more information about the hotel in the room in English, such as what is available at breakfast as we were only given a menu on one morning, and we assumed what was brought to the table was your choice, also the restaurant was open on Friday and Saturday evening we were not informed about this.

Review 76:We enjoyed the spa as this was the low season we had the spa to ourselves and were so relaxed we both fell asleep by the pool.

Review 77:In the hotel there is nothing that i didnt like. Even about the closing hour of the pool and gym they open an exception and give us a extra hour.

Review 78:The big rooms with a lot of space and sofas and really nice architecture concept. The casino, acessed by the hotel is a plus for a late night entertainment. Breakfast was amazing, with a bug variety and tasty. The reception made us a free upgrade of the room, because we appear with one more person, we just pay for the extra bed, what was very kind of them indeed. A place to return.

Review 79:It´s a very nice hotel…the rooms are large and clean, with cool modern deco. The common areas have great design and nice atmosphere. The Wi-Fi is free and works fine. The buffet breakfast was very pleasant surprise. The parking is free for guests. The lobby has a direct passage to the Casino. If you are planning to stay in Tróia, this is not the only option, but it’s probably the best. Now about Tróia itself. It’s a beautiful peninsula, but keep in mind that it is only busy during the summer season (15th June - 31st August), most of the business are closed for the rest of the year. The golf course is open all year. The beach is sandy and beautiful, and it stretches for more than 60 km south, when the rocky beaches start (try the beaches in Porto Covo, a 1h drive south). But if beaches are your thing…try the ones in Serra da Arrabida (the hills in the north bank of the Sado river), Portinho da Arrabida, Coelhos and my favorite Galapinhos…it’s a must. Also in the north bank is Setúbal, a small city with a couple of nice restaurants (try the fish dishes and the fried Cuttlefish). Lisbon is just 40 km away. The best way to move around is by car. To get to the norte bank(Setúbal, Serra da Arrabida and Lisbon) there is a ferry 5 min south of the hotel if you are driving, or right in front of the hotel if you are on foot.

Review 80:More design than comfort. Rooms and facilities are starting to show their age, require cosmetic repairs. Gym is tiny.

Review 81:Good breakfast. Good quality for off-season prices.

Review 82:Rooms not clean (a lot of dust) Waited 15 min for a waiter to cook an omelette at bkf Clearly too much for a 5 star (150€ promotion price)

Review 83:Space, location

Review 84:I think some remodelations are very much needed in the rooms, as well as more maintenance of the swimming pool ( every time i stay there the glass of the infinity pool is really dirty - not acceptable for 5 ***** Hotel).

Review 85:I really liked the Art works displayed around the Hotel common areas, the beautiful furniture and design of the room, stunning infinity pool and excellent breakfast.

Review 86:All the stars for this hotel go into the room- it was huge! Very luxurious. We stayed in a few places around Lisbon but this was simply the best! The beach is stunning too.

Review 87:Food choice limited and not very traditionnal. Complete lack of kitchen utensils. Interior swimmingpool more like a kid pool.

Review 88:Very nice and friendly staff. Large terrace. Spa easy to book, nice spa staff. Quiet and comfortable rooms.

Review 89:I had 5 star expectation for this hotel...in the end of the day it does not deliver a service of this level, the only 5 star thing about this hotel is the money you will pay for your stay...bad and unprofessional service, lack of activities...my advice: don´t stay there / Tenía ilusión de un 5 estrellas pero lo unico que tiene este hotel de este nível es la tarifa que vas a pagar por tu estadia...servicio y personal sin preparación ni organización te va a dar un mal servicio, no tiene animación ni actividades... no volveré ni de coña / Je attendait un hotel cinq etoile et voilà j´ai decouvert que le seule chose à cinq etoile ici c´est la tarif...mauvais service et aussi mauvaise organisation, pas des activitées...je reviens pas ici, c´est sure et certain...

Review 90:breakfast. that´s it / solamente desayuno / uniquement le petit-dejeuner

Review 91:Food is very bad and expensive. The restaurants are very lousy managed, and the maitre downstairs is crazy arrogant. Don't eat there. Personnel is very slow for everything you may ask.

Review 92:The hotel is very nice, modern, rooms and views are beautiful

Review 93:Not much to say here... Maybe the pool bar could be open a bit longer. In the SPA the usage of a swimming cap is mandatory, however they do not include any in your rooms, which means you have to buy one in the spa if you want to get in. This comes across like a forced way of making some extra money. Would be a nice touch to include swim caps in the room.

Review 94:Tróia design hotel it is a paradise secluded in a beautiful (almost wild) peninsula. From the hotel you have easy access both river and ocean beaches. If any of them is suitable for you, there is always the amazing pool deck, with views over the bay or the relxing spa. The rooms are designed in a smart, elegant and relaxing way. The same applies to the common areas filled with contemporary art works. The breakfast is incredibly rich and every day that had a couple of different cakes and pastries. The staff is really helpful, warm and friendly. The service is truly 5 stars however, the environment is quite relaxed has it should be in a beach resort.

Review 95:TV - remote did not work at a time. Pool water was cold. (Good to cool down in a hot summer day though)

Review 96:The stuff took good care of us under the entire stay, always asking how we were and if we needed anything. Our son got sick with fever and they provided us with all help we asked for and more. The room had a marvelous design and was comfortable; the view towards the river is great and relaxing. Near to the beach and if you are lucky you can see the dolphins that are living in the river. Breakfast is amazing, a lot of variety of bread, ham, cheese, fruits, cakes and other things you can imagine in a breakfast. The serve coffee of your choice and make omelets with ingredients that you choose. Nice place for kids though they have a children corner with a lot of toys and a hostess that takes care of them. They gave a balloon to my kid during the breakfast with of course brought a smile to the whole family.

Review 97:For a 5 star hotel, the cleanliness could be improved; as well as other details, those details are the ones that will and should make the difference between a 4 and 5 star hotel. Eventhough , I mentioned them to the reception, nothing was done.

Review 98:The location is great, the great breakfast buffet is a surprised and the view from our room was wonderful.

Review 99:For a 5 star hotel, details seems to not be a priority. Clear signs of damaged furniture (wardrobe), the bath tube showed some signs of use. The balcony seemed not to be cleaned.

Review 100:Very friendly staff and helpful. Stylish hotel. Amazing view over Sesimbra. Clean rooms.

Review 101:some places of the hotel, specially the Spa are needing some maintenance

Review 102:The location it's on a wonderful place, the staff is very nice and the rooms are big and excellent.

Review 103:Very friendly staff, great breakfast and dinner. Super water views and amazing beaches.

Review 104:Location,rooms design, view, staff, superb breakfast ... We'd like to come back!

Review 119:Missing some summer animation.

Review 120:Great space, very high attention to detail, good location.

Review 121:No late check-out

Review 122:Great hotel

Review 123:Not cheap

Review 124:Location Bed Room Design Beach

Review 125:Too many of the staff did not have the right attitude when it comes to service nor have sufficient experience, especially when it comes to food.

Review 126:Vaihteleva palvelun taso saattoi selittyä kielitaidottomuudella.

Review 127:Hieno hotelli, upeat puitteet, palvelu välillä erinomaista, välillä onnetonta.

Review 128:The 5 star hotel could have been cleaner, the breakfast better and the stuff more professional.

Review 129:The room itself was very good.

Review 130:A superb hotel

Review 131:The pool!

Review 132:Wifi was not always strong enough to stream tv/movies in our room.

Review 133:Awesome breakfast and convenient location. Staff was helpful.
