Reviews for Hotel Slovan

Review 1:Do not book the value room unless you want to spend a night in a room pretty much untouched from the late 80s. This is not a 3-star hotel for sure. The hotel apparently does not even bother to identify and fix minor flaws such as broken tiles, electrical insulation etc. Cleanliness was also not a blast (spider webs here and there etc.) either. The reception lady was a little incompetent when we arrived; the one after shift change the next day was a lot more proactive. Selection of food for breakfast was little limited but there was no warm food available at all. Just later we figured out we should have asked the reception lady (who also acted as a waiter) for e.g. scrambled eggs. No one told us proactively, though. View from the room was not the city view (the one we specifically requested) so we could only observe an ugly rooftop with some construction materials there.

Review 2:Location Price

Review 3:Receptionists were just AMAZING. Mari and Daniel were so accommodating and friendly, and made the stay wonderful! Plus the grand piano in dining halls which isn't often used is just a fantastic touch to the hotel. Breakfast was delicious too!

Review 4:Nothing

Review 5:Absolutely best location in town, best priced hotel too unless you look for 4 star and up. Great staff...I'll be back even I could spend more. Homey atmosphere!

Review 6:The hotel updated the outside and looks nice. Inside, it is dated and the room I stayed in was very dated, probably 1985.

Review 7:Location is convenient, near train station and a short walk to attractions, shopping and dining. It is clean and good for a short stay. Don't expect luxury here, but not bad for the price. The staff is very nice and friendly.

Review 8:The rooms, facilities and atmosphere is rather from 10 years ago. It's rather overpriced compared to this standard.

Review 9:The location is very central, close to the station etc. The rooms are spacious, service friendly.

Review 10:basic room, scary elevator, very basic breakfast and we had to ask for the refill of the empty table and it took 20 min on a busy morning

Review 11:good location, parking, vfm

Review 12:I arrived first of a group of football fans who had got off the same train. The check in process took a few minutes to work through, meaning the last people had a fairly long wait.

Review 13:Very convenient for the train station, football ground and centre of Zilina. Good free WiFi. Good breakfast with cereal, fruits, meats and bread.

Review 14:Everything else. No air-con. Lift broken. Booked 2 double rooms, given 1 triple. Without air-con, had to open windows, so very noisy. Wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Review 15:Location

Review 16:Couldn't get any wifi signal and the rooms could do with a bit of a touch up. We also had to buy our own toilet roll as it wasn't replaced during our stay.

Review 17:The location of the hotel was perfect. A short walk from the station, a short walk from the football stadium, and a short walk from both the square (restaurants and bars) and the Mirage shopping mall. It was cheap, always somebody on the desk to help and the staff made effort even though their English wasn't fluent. Would stay again based purely on value.

Review 18:Room (facing main road) was noisy due to early morning transport.

Review 19:Large room, lift, nice receptionist. Free on-site parking. Free WiFi. Close to city centre & supermarket. Breakfast good. TV (with no English speaking programs)

Review 20:Poor breakfast, nothing warm except for coffee/tea.

Review 21:The hotel is very close to the centre. Free parking.

Review 38:Restaraunt shut both nights I was there , no mention of this in the information on booking. Com

Review 44:Close to the main train station. Balcony in the room.

Review 45:WiFi and television both did not work.

Review 46:Excellent location, right near andrej hlinko square. Easy to find. Fantastic breakfast for such a cheap hotel! Very nice staff.

Review 47:Dingy, drab & dirty. The foot towel left in the bathroom was dirty and wet from previous use. The previous user could have been John Logie Baird, who unfortunately failed to complete his lifetimes work - at least in the room I stayed in. The poorest value for money of 23 consecutive days of travel.

Review 48:There is no wi-fi in my room. I had to sit in the hotel lobby in orderto surf the internet (a nice girl at the receiption did offer to changemy room the last day, but I didn't see the point). The facility inthe room is quite basic. One of the mornings I went downstairs forbreakfast, but there was nothing and nobody. I asked the receptionist, and then waited for at least 15 mins before somebody came out and tookmy order. Then they gave me something that I did not even order, andjust disappeared. The shower is broken, I had to fix the slides everytime I went in. No air-conditioning or fan.

Review 49:I stayed in Hotel Slovan for 2 nights during my visit to Zilina. I was alittle bit concerned because of some negative reviews here, and I washoping that it is not as bad. The location of the hotel is quite good, only a few mins away from the train station, and the old town centre(then again, Zilina is quite small anyway). Some of the hotel staff werequite nice and friendly, but some were unfortunately not. The room Istayed is facing the park, which is quite nice.
