Reviews for Hampshire Hotel Fitland - Leiden
Review 1:Not being able to spend more time in the hotel due to work commitments, and not being able to use the spa facilities due to injury.
Review 2:Great location and facilities. Friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful staff. Spacious, comfortable, and clean rooms. Breakfast was very good, as was the Top Floor bar and dining area. Highly recommended.
Review 3:It would be good to have better information at reception/room/webpage about group trainning times, cost if any and availability.
Review 4:Trainning facilities, valued breakfast, room comfort, location.
Review 5:To get to room is a nightmare, no good directions to room, only one elevator goes to 11th floor. disconnected from rest of hotel and some rooms even share the hallway with offices.... strange layout
Review 6:Location is good for central site seeing good facilities
Review 7:rooms are not isolated well towards the inside, thus you can hear everyone doing stuff in the hallway in front of your room
Review 8:Directly next to the train station Leiden Centraal, the rooftop swimming pool, decent breakfast with omlettes
Review 9:For very sensitive people only, the rooms on the side of the rail tracks my be considered noisy.
Review 10:Very attentive, friendly service. Personal handwritten message from manager realising my birthday. Superb location. Nice architecture, nice breakfast room, top level restaurant, beautiful views, excellent and affordable parking.
Review 11:Express checkout option was not really explained and executed well. Invoicing turned out surprisingly complicated, although all infos had been provided in advance
Review 12:central location
Review 13:I couldn't find the hotel! Much better signage is needed. I didn't like the arrangement in the bathroom: The sliding door either shut the shower cubicle or the lavatory. This resulted in no privacy for someone using the toilet. I would never stay in this hotel if travelling as a couple.
Review 14:Convenient location for the railway station. Good transport links. Very quiet area.
Review 15:still a bit slow at reception check in, always seem to be answering phone !!!
Review 16:Repair glass door at entrance from station. also special cleaner required for bathroom sinks marked as they are "black" There was improvement in level 2 restaurant both breakfast and dinner well done.
Review 17:It's a very strange hotel to enter - not terribly well signposted and a tiny reception area considering the size of the hotel. There was a brown shopping bag behind the curtain, suggesting less than meticulous attention to cleaning. There is very little room for hanging clothes or for putting folded clothes anywhere so I certainly wouldn't stay here for more than a couple of nights. Soulless, empty bar and restaurant.
Review 18:The bed was very, very comfortable. Quite a stylish hotel.
Review 19:Left to long checking in and out. bathrooms not cleaned properly. bed looked as if someone had ben lying on top of it. breakfast terrible no scrambled eggs so chef !! made some awful brown and lumpy
Review 20:good location and top floor restaurant
Review 21:Needed more storage in the room. There was only a fairly small hanging space and a couple of shelves. Some drawers would have been good.
Review 22:Location, decor, breakfast, bed comfort.
Review 23:Noise from air conditioning during the night. Breakfast was average with an uncomfortable set up for the different items
Review 24:Modern and stylish room. Comfortable and bed and bedding. Great decoration and style in both restaurants.
Review 25:One lift did not have the second floor on it so we had to use the staff stairs to go from floor 1 to 3 There were no coffee and tea making facilities in the room We couldnt borrow a bathrobe even though I said we had none in the room We could only swim between 7-10a.m when there were no staff there because after 10 am you could only swim naked if you took a shower the person on the toilet would not be able to close the door because the door was one big sliding door the duinner menu was limited, expensive and not child friendly
Review 26:The view , the swimming pool , there was a wide choice in breakfast which was amazing
Review 27:Elevators are candid camera material. Not every elevator takes you to every floor. Sometimes you have to change elevators. Or you have to send one off to some floor in order to get one to come that will take you to yours. Annoying. Even more annoying: no bar after midnight, no minibar and no roomservice. So nood food and beverage at night. That will be the reason I will never visit again.
Review 28:Location is king, and this one is great. In the city center and next to Central Station. Breakfast is great.
Review 29:Room was slightly cold later in the day, and I couldn't seem to change the temperature. But the staff sent up a heater straight away, so it was no problem.
Review 30:This hotel is doing everything right. Modern, spacious, comfortable rooms; friendly, helpful staff; and the wellness centre is beautiful - so relaxing.
Review 31:Very over-rated - on railway line; swimming pool only available 3 hours per day to guests (7am-10am), staff unable to assist with basic information like where to get a map or give a restaurant recommendation. Very pricey for what you get. Is also a rehabilitation centre for elderly people. The hotel had a special on that was substantially cheaper than the booking.com rate!
Review 32:I find only one thing problematic: modern design of the bathroom in the room. They have the same door for shower and toile (and it doesn't close that well) t so if you're traveling with someone who is shy you'll have to leave the room while he uses the toilet
Review 33:Nice staff, excellent location, unbelievable view from the pool :)
Review 34:The hotel has a strange configuration with reception located within a shopping complex. Check out was very slow. Staff worked hard to clear the queue but we still had a twenty minute wait.
Review 35:The hotel's proximity to the centre of Leiden and local facilities was a real bonus. Spacious room and very nice breakfast. Excellent value for money.
Review 36:The quality of the bed was not good and you felt like sleeping on top of a pile of sheets. The swimming pool is only available from 7 to 10 am.....there was dirts in the shower facilities, perhaps the cleanning staff didn't check well enough. And there was no fridge in the room
Review 37:The great location, just next to the Leiden train station. Fantastic view from my room to oversee the city of Leiden with a windmill just in the far front.
Review 38:I like this hotel but people booking need to be aware it is a modern business hotel which may not be to the liking of those looking for a more traditional Dutch hotel.
Review 39:The location is extremely convenient just next to the entrance to Leiden railway station but looking out over the peaceful university site. The rooms are large and very comfortable. Excellent breakfast It is easy to hire bicycles from the cycle shop just next to the station.
Review 40:Room rates varied every time I went into web site. Had trouble makingreservations on their web site. I ended up using booking.com. Also oneday they forgot to leave towels.
Review 41:Great location in Leiden. Room was comfortable. The wellness center wasspecial with views from 11th floor.
Review 42:I think this hotel is designed for the use of the spa facilities which are located in the building. There is nothing I could fault in the hotel although I missed a more charming environment. Very modern and practical. I did not book the hotel to use the spa and not sure I would choose this hotel for a city break.
Review 43:Great location for a short walk into the city of Leiden. Lots of space in bar and breakfast room and good customer service. Nice view of the city from our very large suite.
Review 44:Some mess with the booking. We suddenly got a call that we needed to check out even we had one day left. But we manage to find out and theyfixed it. No minibar
Review 45:Good breakfast Nice swinmingpool
Review 46:Bathroom wasn't very clean and the lobby felt abandoned.bathroom was modern but not practical with sliding door.
Review 47:The Hotel room was moderately clean. Lobby was in poor condition and felt abondened. Very central location, nice view.
Review 48:Stayed in the hotel a year ago, really liked it; so disappointing that the standard dropped. The socket for the fridge and lamp did not work, pulled it out - all covered in dust. Sink in the bathroom had limescale. Staff at the reception never smiled. Lifts too slow. Does not have a feeling of the hotel, smoking students in packs at the entrance as uni is in the same building.
Review 49:The location is perfect, close to the station, airport.
Review 50:THe hotel was right out of the train station. Rolled luggage from train to hotel.. very convenient. Did not hear any noise from train station. Hotel very contemporary . Large high rise hotel with very modern amenities including free wifi in rooms. Hotel breakfast was wonderful...nice American breakfast from fruit, breakfast meats, eggs, waffles and pancakes. Our daughters and my husband and I enjoyed the breakfast very much!
Review 51:Air conditioning constantly on, so it was quite cold, since only 3 degrees up were allowed. Breakfast was not included. Very expensive for the service provided.
Review 52:Just the location, very central and behind the station.
Review 53:Staff at check in about 7 pm was a trainee and on her own....took a bit of time to get checked in. There is hardly any lobby and at first we weren't sure it was an actual hotel. There doesn't seem to be any housekeeping staff in the evenings, we had to call a couple of times when we needed something and then wait til morning.
Review 54:The location of this hotel was right outside the train station and an easy walk to shops and restaurants in Leiden. Very modern..big walk in shower, room was very large and overlooked the station. We did not eat there as breakfast was 15 euro per person. Towels could have been bigger/thicker..were small. It is part of a shared building with a gym/spa/and training center. There is parking below for a fee.
Review 55:building shared with other services. Lifts always too busy and only one lift went to hotel rooms floor.
Review 56:good modern comfortable and spacious room. restaurants and bar areas good.
Review 57:The service at the restaurant on the 12th floor was a total joke: exremely slow and unhelpful servers. I felt totally unwelcome and will never return.
Review 58:The staff at the reception was extremely helpful --- and the rooms are well equipped and fresh.
Review 59:The bar was closing 24:00. When you use the garage you have to inform for any movement, that's not good. Also the tv is almost up to the bed.
Review 60:The view is amazing and the Bett was really unique, big and comfort. Also the bathroom was very ellegant.
Review 61:Very comfortable with attentive staff. Excellent cleanliness. Only 1min to train station that takes you directly to Amsterdam and The Hague. Good swimming pool facilities. 24/7 service.
Review 62:Too modern WC ,no privacy . We had a nice room, view to the city but hotel is in a modern building and floor 10 and 11 belongs to the hotel . There are some room in the middle where you don't have privacy .Have to close all the curtains
Review 63:The hotel is in the centre ,next to railway station and eating shopping district . The beds were great , had a good night sleep.
Review 64:Excellent check in and service of staff. Was able to check in two hours before regular check in time. Location superb if travelling by train, great view over Leiden.
Review 65:Service was pretty poor - we asked for the iron and 1h later we were still waiting for it... we asked again and had to wait another 30min! The room was clean, but the cleaning during our stay just included doing our bed and change the towels (no other cleaning) Horrible overpriced 12th floor restaurant - don't bother Really uncomfortable bed For most of the stay the phones were not working, so if we wanted anything we would have to go to the reception - it's not a tragedy, but it is inconvenient We thought we would get a bite on Sunday - all restaurants in the hotel were closed (all day) as well as computer "room" so make sure you do not need anything on a Sunday - We had the superior room and a view of the inside of the hotel... it's a strange structure and our windows would overlook the inside of the hotel - it felt like a prison than a hotel room
Review 66:It's in a great location - just above the train station A few minutes from the city center Loads of shops and restaurants on your doorstep Good price
Review 67:Small Rooms , No enough Space , No Fridge / refrigerator Drinks in the Room The Elevator are vor Complicated, u cannot reach all The Floor easiely , must a long Time Waiting . It was like a Rehabilitation Center and not a Hotel , swimmingpool just from 7-10 o clock , For every request , or service , was always complicated Conditions .
Review 68:The city Sight
Review 69:Minimalist, very modern, high-rise building, only partly used as a hotel, all rooms on 10th & 11th floors with the feeling of a half-finished structure. Room was an almost open-plan unit: No door separating the bathroom from the sleeping area: a washing area with an impractical shallow wash-basin was behind the headboard of the bed. A large common sliding glass door closed off only one of either the shower area or the toilet next to it. This heavy glass door, as it was fitted, did not close flush to the wall, but in front of it, so there was a 5-centimetre gap preventing privacy and opening the whole room to toilet smells and noises.
Review 70:Comfortable bed, good views across the city, proximity to train station.
Review 71:No milk for coffee. Cups and glasses removed from room after use and not returned. Slow service at reception. Water temparature fluctuated wildly in shower. Building not intended for hotel use. So room layout is not comfortable or ergonomical. Would have been better off with something like a Premier Inn.
Review 72:Close to the people I was meeting.
Review 73:We had a spa entrance included but we had to pay for the bathrobe. We didn´t find any Information on the Website that we should bring our own, otherwise, we would have done this.
Review 74:Good Location, Leiden is a very nice city.
Review 75:The breakfasts were of low quality -over salted meat balls, only fried eggs at at times cooking staff seemed too lazy to have eggs there especially on weekends. Pricing at counter much dearer than on web-seemed tricky and I had to show on my computer my deal to convince.Bacon hard and over salted-poor
Review 76:Location to city & Rail
Review 77:Out of the way room, noise from other rooms, check in and out slow. Not nearly as good as a previous stay we had a year ago. Disappointing as I had in the past recommended it to other people.
Review 78:good location.
Review 79:Staff were friendly, but not capable. Or perhaps they are not trained well. I arrived with a reservation, and added two days. I was called on the original departure date, and asked why I hadn't left. After I explained, the caller said she would take care of it. When I returned, the key didn't work anyway. My business partner was prevented from checking in despite my having given his name, which was in the hotel system. Minor inconveniences, but ones that should really not happen.
Review 80:Excellent location. Couldn't be better. Very nice, comfortable, clean.
Review 81:Difficulty in finding room and unhelpful check in staff. Average breakfast with annoying self service coffee machine.
Review 82:Great room with tea and coffee making facilities. Quiet and next to rail station. Good WiFi and aircon.
Review 83:I would have liked coffee/tea making facility in the room, even a simple one, so one doesn't always have to step out to the restaurant or Leiden central station to get coffee/tea. This would be especially helpful for people such as myself who had to stay indoors to do some work.
Review 84:Great breakfast - a wide selection and very good quality food. Very comfortable bed, and very friendly and helpful staff. Spotless room. Oh, and a super convenient location.
Review 85:The hotel advertises with wellness; it is in fact a wellness hotel. When my wife tried to book a hot-stone massage, this was not possible at all. When she asked about other possibilities, they just told her none was available. The lady said she would call my wife back with other options, but she never did. Poor service of the wellness people and hardly polite!
Review 86:Room and breakfast were ok. Location is very near to the old town and the railway station.
Review 87:I've chosen this hotel because of its beautiful swimming pool but it was open only between 07AM - 10AM. Why didn't it say on their online page?
Review 88:bed was very comfortable
Review 89:1. The hot aspects of the breakfast should be kept hot and not allowed to cool down- cold scrambled eggs is not the best. 2. A little more care should be made regarding washing used cups in the bedroom. 3. Inside of the windows could do with a clean - greasy hand/head prints of others is not welcome.
Review 90:Virtually everything
Review 91:Little issues like hair on the toilet seat on checkin, confusion picking up luggage, issues using the door key
Review 92:Great location! Very convenient for town, central station and LUMC. Most staff are smiling.
Review 93:The anonymized emailaddress of Booking.com which you get with your booking is a kind of silly. ( its only allows you communicate trough booking.com and not directly with the hotel ) It feels like big brother 'booking.com' is watching you.... It really gave me an unpleasent feeling.
Review 94:Its a very clean place , nice beds and a good location Cleaning staff which we met by accident is friendly and very professional.
Review 95:This hotel is located in a large office building that includes other businesses, and an old folks home. The hotel reception (ground floor) is disconnected from the hotel room (10th floor). The sign posting within the building is terrible - we went to find the restaurant and ended up in the old folks restaurant. The toilet is kind of open air - not very private and not terribly practical - not very romantic if there is a terrible smell to be made
Review 96:Bar/restaurant on top floor. Good bed.
Review 97:was hard to find the entrance to the hotel, although the building (which hotel is part of it) itself is in a very easy place to find, right next to the station.
Review 98:was very comfortable and clean and spacious.
Review 99:Breakfast was OK but felt it was quite limited with very small plates. No tea or coffee facilities inside room.
Review 100:Excellent room, good size, comfortable and well decorated.
Review 101:location of the lifts to the floors, had to use 2 lifts to access breakfast room. 2nd floor restaurant, unable to offer food on a Sunday night and only menu was a tapas type before 21:30.
Review 102:The room was decorated with balloons for our stay, to help us celebrate our wedding anniversary.
Review 103:No fridge in room or drinks facilities. Choice of decor shows up various marks on the walls.
Review 104:Very comfy bed and great shower. Nice modern design and very convenient location for both the university and city centre.
Review 105:they mentioned something and charged something else - even the receipts are miscalculated. When we asked how much is the entrance to wellness centre - we were told a price - I asked is it per head - answer - for complete package for both of you - but they charged per head - also for bathrobes - renting bathrobe for 31e is pretty steep! then they offered a small discount but still charged the money!!
Review 106:Location, cleanliness, well mannered staff
Review 107:Strange floor configuration and lift arrangement was a bit confusing - needed to be in the right lift to get to certain floors.
Review 108:Modern and easy to get to from the train station Ease of access to Schiphol Location in Leiden Top floor bar restaurant - Gin and Tonic Menu
Review 109:The room was not clean. The windows were dirty. The price for the breakfast is very high.
Review 110:The hotel is located on the top floors of a building next to the central station in Leiden, which is very convenient. Nice views of the city.
Review 111:Decor takes some getting used to. Bathroom more of a wetroom than an actual bathroom. Not all lifts on the ground floor go to the floor where the bedrooms are.
Review 112:Large room, comfortable bed, good location. Parking in the underground car park not that expensive (for Leiden)
Review 113:the room lacks storage facilities for clothing.it is good for sleeping but otherwise lacks comfort and space. Regular arrivals of coach parties stretch the restaurant facilities on occasions
Review 114:Its position by the station good breakfast comfortable bed and room facilities
Review 115:The hotel is very noisy - there is no sound proofing, we were hearing everyonewalkign around in the entire hotel and the people talking next door. We could not have tea or coffee in our room upon arrival as mugs are available only after 2pm. Every time I tried to call reception no one answered. Room temperature could not be controlled
Review 116:breakfast was excellent
Review 117:- Swimming pool only open from 7am to 10am, wellness & sauna only open from 10am on. Makes it difficult to use it during short stay when check-out is at 11am. - Lifts are not fast & hotel is crowded by crowds of travel groups of old people when we were there - There is 1 sliding door for shower & WC. Only one of both can be closed at a time. The sliding door does not completely close the WC. We did not think that this is important, but can understand that some travellers complain - We had no problems to find the hotel & parking garage with GPS. The way indications to the receptions were clear
Review 118:- Bed, shower, breakfast, restaurant in 11th floor, next to train station, fitness on ground floor, not too far from center - Definetely a great deal (we paid 110 EURO/night without breakfast)
Review 119:I didn't like that the bathroom was open concept. Glass doors do nothing for privacy! I woke up to a power outage. This couldn't be helped by the hotel, but it was a bit worrying to not have lights or hot water for about 15 minutes!
Review 120:Really comfortable bed!
Review 121:No tea making facilities in the room and swimming pool only open to hotel residents from 7.00 to 10.00 a.m.
Review 122:Very comfortable room and very convenient position in the town.
Review 123:Swiiming Pool available 7-10am only, this is made clear but hotel not cheap so this would put me off a return visit. Check in and out very slow as staff preoccupied with phone.
Review 124:Room very clean, excellent wifi. Right above Leiden Central Station
Review 125:Nothing bad to say!
Review 126:This was a last minute booking and very reasonable price. Location great - perfect for meeting at LUMC. Easy transfer from Schiphol. Swimming pool was lovely, wish I'd time to sample the spa it looked amazing.
Review 127:Very odd layout of hotel, no security, poor directions in hotel, hospital on floors below and no security/ poor signs to direct to facilities.
Review 128:Modern and clean
Review 129:Everything almost perfect. If I have to necessarily find something wrong could say that some of the forniture were not in excellent conditions.
Review 130:Amazing the panoramic swimming pool. It is accesible for free just in the morning from 7 to 10 but it absolutely deserve a visit. Very good breakfast, high quality and lot of choise. Convenient position to visit the city center and to take trains/autobus or rent bikes.
Review 131:On booking.com it says spa and swimming pool included to price but it wasnt, it was extra 30€ per person.
Review 132:Thick curtains, easy to sleep, great city view from 10th floor. Comfortable bed, spacey room, spacey shower.
Review 133:The hotel Spa is fabulous, it is huge and you can relax while enjoying the views of the city. The restaurant offers fantastic dishes, all very tasty and served in a very elegant style. The same dishes are available in room service, which for me is highly appretiated.
Review 134:sorry for this but i didn't liked that the toilet was without door. :( no comfort.
Review 135:i liked the whole building. the design and everything. really fantastic
Review 136:It was a little embarrassing to have to explain I do not carry a credit card and did not want to deposit cash for "extras". My employers booked the room, and I wasn't expecting that. The receptionist allowed me to pay cash for my breakfasts which was very helpful.
Review 137:The room was quiet and It was very convenient for my business appointment at LUMC. I slept like a log and was refreshed for my visit. Leiden is a great city.
Review 138:No Kettle or tea making facility in room and when we requested boiled water it arrived in a flask but without any cups at all.Bathroom\toilet only divided from bedroom by a wall that was 3 fett short of ceiling. So if someone was using the bathroom the whole bedroom was lite up by light that needed to be on for using the bathroom space. Also if toilet was used bedroom was filled with smell. Requested a quiet room and room we got faced out over the railway station so if we opened our bedroom window the train announcements and arrival and departure of trains sounded like they were taking place in the bedroom. Access to the sauna, pool, gymm facilities is restricted to morning before 10 am for guests - outside that time you get to pay thus completely null and voiding our reason for staying there. The reception to this hotel is in a small office on the ground floor of a building that is used by college students, staff in other facilities, and you left recetption and then went to seperate lift area to get to your room but the lifts were open to everyone.Entrance to the building itself was a smoking area for any users of the building college students office workers and people hanging round the station.Breakfast and one of restraunts were on 2nd floor but not all lifts went to 2nd floor. Difficult getting a table in the restraunt and the evening we wanted to eat in the 2nd floor restraunt we were told the restraunt itself was full but we can take a tall seat at the high bar and eat there along with one other sole diner. The 2nd floor eating area has a multiple floor space above it where the ceiling would be and meant that the area was actually cold to sit in.Cupboard space in the bedroom was a rail with 6 hangars on it in a space that was about 4 feet high so my outdoor full length coat and my dress had to be hung on the door - also no draws or cupboards to put your unpacked clothes like underwear t shirts etc.
Review 139:It was centrally located but would not stay there again or recommend it to others. Very inpersonal and what someone may think as "modern" like lack of cupboard space and "open" bathroom are actual real inconveniences for guests
Review 140:The late opening wellness centre where you can relax without hassle is worth a visit. To finish the evening, the bar has a great view over the city. To start the day, the infinity pool opens from 7 am allowing a swim before breakfast
Review 141:The air-conditioning temperature can only be adjusted to +/- 3 degrees of some predetermined temperature.
Review 142:I hung the do-not-disturb sign continuously on my door for the 4 days I was there - from the 2nd day the staff hung a bag with clean towels and fresh soap and shampoo on the door.
Review 143:The confusing situation with the lifts still has not been solved - mentioned this before but it was still as confusing as it was before. Also have the feeling a lot of staff (front desk and in the restaurant) are hotel school students
Review 144:location as usual
