Reviews for Hotel Slovakia
Review 1:Old, very old and with no renovation. The look and the atmosphere is stuck 30 years in the past. This is definitely not the place to come and enjoy your vacation, unless you don't mind everything being designed in the communism era and by the standards of those times. I also had bad experience with some members of the staff, they lacked essential empathy and the skills of communicating negative messages to their customers. A server at the bar looked fed up with me bothering to ask him (after 15 minutes) whether I will need to wait any longer for the drink while he served shots to many other guests. His response was that they have many orders and I need to understand that mixed drinks take time to prepare and they just can't prepare them now and that I need to wait and he does not know for how much longer, all of that in a rude and condescending tone. A receptionist said it really was not her fault that their website did not inform about the pool and the wellness being permanently out of order and instead of an apology she was blaming their manager who allegedly runs the website. All in all, it is not a bad place to stay, it is just shame that they keep it in a state like this. With the prominent location and the price tag, they absolutely need a renovation (and also more polite staff).
Review 2:The location is the main (and sadly the only) selling point. It was also clean and the food was tasty.
Review 3:Quite an old interior which could do with some renovation
Review 4:Very close to town centre and 15 minute walk from station. Additional cost of breakfast is probably worth the money
Review 5:The room was tired and old (parts of the ceiling appeared to be falling down!) Wasn't good value for money, you would expect something a little cleaner/modern for what you pay.
Review 6:Brilliant location to access everything in Žilina!
Review 7:broken shower, broken window, no air conditioning, no hair dryer in the room . hard bed no pillows only big cushions.over charged for the rooms
Review 8:nothing
Review 9:excessively long time to book in at reception; rooms stuffy, cluttered and overheated; restaurant closed at 21.00 (although advertised as closing at 22.00); bathwater an unhealthy colour; purely Soviet in atmosphere
Review 10:No air con and room was very warm and I had a thick duvet as well !
Review 11:Excellent location and great value for money. WIFI was fine and room was comfortable for one person use
Review 12:dark and dingy lights not working in room shower broken , towels smelt of damp as you used it ,
Review 13:close to shops and bars
Review 14:It's a vast, creepy concrete monstrosity very poorly maintained andvery dark everywhere. We were the only people eating dinner and in thebar. Some of the staff helpful and friendly but accommodation is reallypoor quality and the bed in our room was not a proper bed but a put youup and uncomfortable. The room we had is described as a 1 bedroomapartment which will take 4 people but it would be impossible to get 4in as it is full of useless living room furniture and there is nocirculation space. No kettle, tea etc. Even the tv does not workproperly nor does the wi-fi. Everything in this hotel needs refurbishingand updating - our room door was made of plywood which had been kickedin at the bottom!
Review 15:Zilina is a nice town and well situated for visiting the lovelycountryside of Mala Fatras but this hotel is awful
Review 16:Poor hotel information (worn-out and cheap paper, insufficient contents), waiter looking out of the window while customers waiting for the service.
Review 17:Very good location in the city centre. Otherwise more or less fair value for the price although the service should be better.
Review 18:hotel features on the booking.com gives info about pool and sauna, but it was close. I think hotels should advise about these changes, because booking.com is not giving correct info to customers.
