Reviews for Hotel Afrodita Resort & SPA

Review 1:Reception:check in was not informative, the receptionist was dealing with 3 groups in the same time.Information about the depozit charged on the credit card was not given by arial. Room 311: sold as a 4 stars category, mold in the bathroom's shower silicon, amenities used are not for a 4 stars, bathrobe we found in the room closet had a big hole and hotel should be able to provide different sizes. Restaurant:Marius was the most attentive and guest orientated. Waiters are not greeting the guests, not knowing or expmaining the menu, food selection has nothing to do with a wellness hotel:no low fat or diet foods, no fruit salad for bfast,1st day we had a toaster in the restaurant for bfast but 2nd day not.As a vegetarian,I ate my maincourse by mixing side dishes. Waiters were checking their phones in the restaurant in front of the guests.

Review 2:Spa area, massage done by Adrian, waiter Marius was the most professional in the restaurant

Review 3:The location is close to the old historic center, you can do this on foot. The facilities in the hotel are also nice (like the swimming pool). The breakfast is good.

Review 4:We booked the 4* room, 4 nights. The TV had no signal for the whole stay - they blamed the provider. The Internet is not working well, pages are loading very slow. There is no cleaning during the day, they only resupply with TP once but not soap/show gel/shampoo. There is no indoor kids playground (there should be according to signs).

Review 5:The pool and SPA center.

Review 6:Even if the parking was full almost all the time, I realised that everywhere you go in Herculane is the same thing. I think they will have to destroy nature by cutting down the trees to build parking and this will ruin the beauty of the place.

Review 7:The hotel is one of the biggest from Herculane. It has a wonderful view from the balcony especially in the morning when there is some fog above the town. Check-in was pretty quick thanks to the nice lady from the reception who was very polite with us. We found the room from the 6th floor very clean, the style and decor were aesthetically pleasing. A nice big bathroom with bathrobes and slippers for each one of us along with some nice smelling toiletries and a hair dryer. Also a big wardrobe, two nightstands, two armchairs and a desk were available in the room. The housekeeping staff cleaned our room daily and changed the towels left on the floor. The hotel facilities were great. A modern swimming pool with a couple of jacuzzis, sauna and massage rooms were exactly what we needed. The water was clean and warm and you could rest on lounge chairs all around the pool. They have even a gym where you can keep up your shape, but we didn't had the necessary time to work out because of our short stay. Consistent breakfast with a large variety of goodies. You could also have coffee, tea, milk or a fresh fruit juice. Nice young staff members, very helpful giving us directions for the main attractions from Herculane. Definitely we will return.

Review 8:The spa was crowded and not that clean. At breakfast it was hard to get coffee, cups and a place to stay because it was very crowded and the staff was overwhelmed. The elevators took a very long time to arrive.

Review 9:The room was great, very comfy.

Review 10:Restaurant staff was very unprepared. 10th floor hot water was comming brown for 1 hour.

Review 11:Location is beautifull. A lot of things to see. Recently renovated hotel. Clean and comfy news

Review 12:Some of the employees are rude and while we stayed at the hotel, not even once did they clean the room, change the towels or put a new toilet paper. The swimming pool is broken in some parts of the walls and one can easily hurt himself. The parking lot was always full and it was in the street, so there was no safety in letting something into the car for even one moment. The food for breakfast was ok for the 1st day, but on the second we even found old and mouldy bread.

Review 13:Access to the swimming pool, the jacuzzi and the sauna.

Review 14:I was waiting more than 3 hours to make check in. Arrival was at 3PM. In their policy check in can be made after 2PM. Reception desk is the worst i have seen in all my life + impolite. I young family with a small children was asked to wait till the reception will analyze the reservation from booking. To the check out they charge a different amount, in reservation is euros, but you cannot see the rates. Personal is agressive, and the sole answer you get: "we cannot do anything, you have to wait..." Parking does not exists. Their parking is in the back side of the hotel, and if you have a luggage, better is to avoid this hotel. When somebody is coming to the reception, they redirect to the other nearest hotel Dacia. In 3 stars room they dont have air conditioned.

Review 15:I would have liked to have the room cleaned more often, the towels changed and the bed sheets also were never changed in a week.

Review 16:I think this is the best hotel you cand have in Baile Herculane.

Review 17:The hotel overall is a 3-star facility. Nonetheless, they also offer a few 4-star floors. This year I chose to try one of those rooms, mainly for curiousity (and because I found a good offer).Unfortunately it was totally NOT worth it!Furniture is slightly upgraded, for example bigger TV (which I'm not using anyway) and additional A/C (which might add additional value during the summer months, but not in spring). But for me, one of the main differences between 3 stars and 4 stars SHOULD be the SERVICE - and unfortnuately this was a complete FAILURE this year!!!In former years (in the "standard" rooms) I've had very good experiences with the housekeeping, mostly even exceeding my expectations. So I've been shocked to see how this was handled this time, especially considering the 4-star room/"service":Housekeeping continously disturbed me when I've been in the shower for example, even completely ignoring my (improvised, handwritten - see later) "do not disturb"-sign in front of the door - a totally unacceptable NO GO!!! But more than that, instead of coming back later, they simply ignored my room for the rest of the day, leaving it uncleaned for several days in a row. They even "managed" for days to ignore the pile of towels placed on the bathroom floor clearly for changing!Even nice requests (in the beginning) and complaints (later on) about this situation at the reception were almost consequently ignored by housekeeping. I never experienced such an impudence in any other place before - especially not with a so-called 4-star service...So I will definitely NOT return to the "upgraded" rooms, but choose the good old standard rooms again next year, hoping to get the same good old "standard service" I had in other years. (Plus the view is much more grandious from the standard floors, because the 4-star rooms are located on the low levels 1-4.

Review 18:I'm visiting Herculane each year for a long time already, and this was my third consecutive stay at Hotel Afrodita. It's probably still the best place to stay in Herculane, and I will most likely return there next year. Baile Herculane itself is a true jewel for relaxation and enjoying a gorgeous, healthy nature in a picturesque mountain setup, superclean air and water, and also the highly beneficial thermal springs. The hotel was renovated a few years ago with great efforts and success. The rooms are of decent size, the bathrooms are done nicely (except for missing power plugs for shavers), and I totally love the balcony and the view towards the mountains and beautiful forests. In my opinion, one of the most important things in a hotel are good beds for quality sleep, and I'm pretty picky about hotel beds. Hotel Afrodita's beds perfecly suit my personal needs for a great bed and offer me a really relaxing sleep. The spa area is done beautiful as well, offering several pools, whirlpools and a sauna amongst others. This being said, my "negative" observations are mainly coming from comparison with the former years and hopefully will be understood as constructive criticism.

Review 21:Over a 6 days stay, the room was never cleaned, nor the sheets, towels or soap changed. They only picked up garbage and drop toilet paper rolls.

Review 22:Good breakfast, nice pool, jacuzzi and dry sauna. Nice and helpfull receptionists.

Review 23:Hotel is located in Herculane city center, on a small hill - unfortunately not enough parking spaces. If you're coming with a car, better to leave it on the main street. Slow elevators, sometimes full.

Review 24:Old communist hotel (trade unionist) recently renovated. Clean room - each one has a balcony. Beautiful view of the surrounding mountains, if you're lucky enough to get a room on a higher floor. Good breakfast, plenty of choices. We haven't tried the pool as it was very crowded. Overall, good value for money.

Review 25:The cleaning staff did not clean the room too much, except the garbage. The bed-clothes were replaced once in seven days and the towels twice. The safe box did not work in the room, despite the staff efforts to solve this problem, which is unacceptable in a premium room. The furniture from the room was not very functional (e.g. we had to be careful not to injure ourselves because of the furniture corners; not all reading lamps worked). Even if the spa area offered good conditions for treatment and relaxation, it does not have any changing room. Despite the two big restaurants of the hotel, if you have the bad luck to stay in the same period of time with large groups which made reservation, you could not find place where to eat. The young waiters of the restaurant (and other hotel staff) would need more training to learn how to treat the hotel customers. We noticed all negative aspects reported by other reviewers of the same hotel, therefore the hotel staff should improve its management!

Review 26:We stayed for seven days in the Afrodita hotel in a premium double room, for vacation and treatment. Generally the room was clean, with new furniture. We had bathrobes and slippers in the room, a nice balcony with a nice view of Herculane resort. The receptionists were generally kind, trying to solve all requests, even if sometimes unsuccessfully. The restaurant was generally good, with good food and price. The staff and conditions in the spa area of the hotel were generally good, well organized.

Review 27:Seara era super trafic pe net si reuseam foarte greu sa ne conectam.

Review 28:Hotelul e renovat, recomand. Pacat de statiunea B.Herculane care arata de parca ar fi trecut printr-un razboi.

Review 29:The elevators take time and are sometimes full at peak times.

Review 30:Spa area is ample with a large pool, 2 separate hot tubs and an area with sauna and its accompanying cold pool. A pleasant walk beside the river will bring you into the old town, it's majestic buildings, in disrepair, though still impressive. Further still is a large park and outdoor hot springs.

Review 31:Poor lighting in reception and floors - no plugs for sink.

Review 32:Good food and pool area was nice and clean - massages were great and reasonable prices.

Review 33:They don't have a pool outside

Review 34:The terrace

Review 35:There was something bed smelling in the air around the hotel.

Review 36:I liked jakuzzi.

Review 37:Staff Pool lack of regulation (dont applies) Elevators (slow)

Review 38:Spa View Room Wi-fi Food

Review 39:Not sure if there are designated non-smoking rooms. Unfortunately as a foreigner it's not always simple to interact with staff because some of them are not very knowledgeable or confident about speaking English. There's still room for improvement in this segment. At least most members of reception staff are able to communicate fair enough in English that you can get help with all requests. (There are exceptions in both directions, from incompetent to brilliant!)

Review 40:Excellent value for the money! Towels were exchanged daily, bed sheets every couple of days - really great from the service point of view. Mattress and pillows just perfect for my needs, offering me a very relaxing sleep. Breakfast is far above romanian standards, many choices, really great even during longer stays. Pool / Spa area very nice.

Review 41:no direction sign to the hotel (lose some time to rich the hotel) no air conditioned elevator wait very long time to close to the center restaurants where music is to loud in the night (manele!) the stuff from bar not so friendly

Review 42:pool area the view from balcony renovated room

Review 43:You have to wear one of those plastic wristbands (like for an allinclusive club vacation) for having access to the pool and sauna.Personally I hate these bands and cut mine off after 2 days, as longas I did not have too much interest in visiting the spa facilities.Still other solutions would be highly appreciated. Apart from thatthey also renovated the lifts, but unfortunately they did not getequipped with a kind of coordinating logic - just two independentlifts. That causes some unneccesary waiting during peak times (and therenovated rooms are all located on floors 7-10, they're stillworking on the lower floors).

Review 44:At the moment probably the best place to stay in Herculane. A bit moreexpensive than other hotels, but definitely worth the money. Newlyrenovated and they really did a great job. I just loved my room, andespecially the view from the balcony! Also I loved the bed, not toosoft, not too hard, I've had some of the most relaxing nights andbest sleep I've ever had in a hotel.

Review 45:In the end there were a few things that I didn't like. The matress was a bit hard for me and the minibar fridge makes a relatively a lot of sound (perhaps because for the rest there is no sound at all in the night)

Review 46:Friendly staff, we got to choose what type of view we preffered, big and probably recently renovated room with a clean and spacious bathroom. The view from the balcony was amazing. Breakfast and dinner are good and compliments for the amount of staff that is ready to be of assistance.

Review 47:Location, facilities, cleaness

Review 48:little staff good at English

Review 49:food poor menu, staff not very nice

Review 50:Room was nice, clean

Review 51:They helped me with a late check-out, pool and sauna was awesome.

Review 52:Missing air-condition, moderate breakfast, bar was closed early.

Review 53:Loctation, parking.

Review 54:no wifi in rooms and in your description was written that room have wifi

Review 55:Clean,comfort,good place to stay

Review 56:nice pool and sauna

Review 57:this is not a three stars hotel; everything is very cheap inside and the hot water is a problem

Review 58:- Staff was friendly - the room was clean - the facilities (the pool) contributed a lot to our relaxation
