Reviews for Vila Alice
Review 1:No eating/food allowed in room. Poor wifi in rooms 7 & 8 (both in separate building from main vila), had to use public area in main vila to make FaceTime calls. Poorly designed shower door in room 7, allows way too much water to leak onto bathroom floor, soaking the bathmat, slipping hazard. TV channel list had many more channels listed than actually available. Breakfast selections were spotty and staff did not refill items like cheeses, meats or boiled eggs once first breakfast guests used what was there (almost as though they were rationing), so show up early for breakfast. Strange price lists posted at vila and in rooms, but not on booking.com, with fees for use of hot tub, and some breakfast/bar items...confusing, wondered if I'd get charged when asking for an egg at breakfast. 4% upcharge if using a credit card, also not revealed on booking.com, so be prepared to pay in cash to save a little money. In-room safe very small and in very difficult location to reach, also need a flashlight to see and use it.
Review 2:Good location, with short walk to lake and main attractions. Clean, well-maintained rooms. Cute electric fireplace in room to help take the chill off. Robes and slippers provided. Free parking. Nice yard/deck.
Review 3:The last minute booking and check-in proved to be a little bit of a challenge, but everything turned out fine in the end.
Review 4:Very calm area. Spacious room and bathroom. Beautiful house and garden. Within walking distance of the city and lake.
Review 5:There is a little bit misquidance in booking.com: It says that Kitchen is in common use and we chose Vila Alice because we wanted access to the kitchen. BUT at arrival it was said that kitchen area is forbidden for us. Please correct the info. And that bringing food in to the room was also strictly forbidden (15 € sanction). There was only one blanket in the room and as we were not a couple it was uncomfortable to sleep. And there was no extra blanket in the whole house... Because of these it was a little bit difficult to enjoy beautiful room and house. Thank you Sasha - you were helpful :)
Review 6:The house is great and the room was beautiful and very neat.
Review 7:Very warm welcome with whiskey and wine as well as pastry. Held our bags until check in since we were too early and rooms weren't ready. Location was two blocks to bus station and two blocks to the lake. Comfortable, quiet room with lots of windows.
Review 8:I did not feel this accommodation was value for money, and everything had an additional cost. jacuzzi was an additional 30 euros and the deluxe rooms were separate from the villa so I felt that we only had our room to relax in.
Review 9:Very clean and nicely fitted.
Review 10:Greeting was friendly, but superficial, as the main concern was how to pay. 4% charge for use of credit or debit card, meaning cash only please. The message to guests in the rooms was curt and Draconian
Review 11:Rooms were clean and comfortable and had style.
Review 12:Nothing. It was perfect for us
Review 13:Room #3 has a living room + bedroom. View of street from living room, pretty garden from the bedroom. Quiet. Easy on site parking. Comfortable public lounge and reading area too.
Review 14:I would have liked a kettle in the room for making tea.
Review 15:Entire property is decorated very nicely, rooms are comfortable and clean and it's a 5 minute walk down to the lake. Free parking on site. Good breakfast buffet.
Review 16:You have to pay extra for eggs, coffee, etc.
Review 17:Very nice room (superior room for 2 pers with mountain view), good location close to Lake of Bled, very kind staff, good breakfast (apart from having to pay extra for eggs, etc.)
Review 18:There was no ability to have a cup of tea or coffee unless it was over breakfast or early afternoon. The shower leaked a lot of water onto the bathroom floor every use.
Review 19:Beautiful rooms with ensuite bathrooms.
Review 20:we stayed at a garden suite which we loved because it felt very cosy and private. Room itself was great, clean, tastefully decorated, romantic, very spacious and it immediately felt like home away from home. The main house is also very tastefully designed, many comfy corners all around the house and garden. I loved the mix of old and new. Breakfast was good, several options to choose from; bagels, croissants, cereals, jams, eggs, salami and cheese..and the breakfast room is so cosy you want to talk to other people while enjoying your morning coffee. I could definitely see myself going back.
Review 21:I love Villa Alice! It's my second time staying here and can't recommend it enough. Beautiful decor, lovely staff and delicious breakfast. Location is perfect, close walking distance to the lake.
Review 22:I had such an enjoyable stay at Villa Alice, one night was simply not long enough. I was instantly greeted by Sasher with a warm welcome. He showed me around the property and served me a welcome drink. Villa Alice is a short walk from Lake Bled and the town restaurants. I loved the styling of the property and especially the room where breakfast is served. My room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The lounge areas and backyard is stunning. I highly recommend staying at Villa Alice.
Review 23:No AirCon only small plugin fan.was too hot to sleep in our room which was on the 3rd floor.Staff not very welcoming on check in or out. Girl managing breakfast was very present and helpful.
Review 24:High quality guest house.Good location.Lots of attention to detail and very nice places to sit out and relax.
Review 25:There was no map of Bled as information, but there were other brochures from the near by areas. There is no reception all the time, so you need to ensure that you are on time for leaving the room and make the check out on time, if you are planning to make a morning visit to some close location There are some house rules that do not appear in booking.com, like if you pay with credit card they charge 4% extra or that you are not allowed to bring food to the room, as otherwise you will suffer penalties
Review 26:The room was cozy, perfectly cleaned and big, as well as a nice bed with a nice matress. The breakfast contained different items, like muslies, seeds, different jogurts, different cookies, pieces of cakes, ham, cheese, sausages, breads, fruits, other different stuff in each day. The girl dealing with breakfast was very friendly, nice and delivered the best customer service experience
Review 27:The consistent Ryanair style additional costs for nicer luxuries felt a little stingy after paying €250 per night. An egg cost €4.20 to have with your breakfast in the morning and use of the Jacuzzi in the beautiful garden also come at an additional cost. There were some strange rules with associated penalties were noted in the room like "no eating in the room" or you will be fined €40 etc.
Review 28:Beautiful guest house and interiors. It rained quite a bit while we were there and it was lovely to have somewhere so nice to hang out. The staff were very friendly and polite. They accommodated my husband by providing gluten free bread at breakfast because of his allergies, although they only remembered it two out of the four days. They highlighted we would be charged extra for this but they didn't actually charge us in the end which was a nice touch.
Review 29:Despite the fact that the hotel was advertised on your site as having air-conditioned rooms, we received a room without air condition, in one of the hottest days of the year. The room was spacious, comfortable and nice, but the lack of air condition was a real problem (although we received a ventilator). Also, there is coffee and an alcoholic drink as a welcome, but we wanted simple tea instead of coffee and were told that we cannot do that, although there was a kettle in the kitchen. There is also some danger in the yard, some logs protruding in the deck that can really cause injury at night, when one cannot see them. Breakfast was very average.
Review 30:The room was spacious, clean, quiet and comfortable (if not for the air condition problem). Staff is nice and helpful. We forgot my husband's jacket with a purse inside, and they called us to notify us.
Review 31:The hostess/owner was nice but distant. The sauna and hot tub had strict usage terms which prevented us from using them, and there were extra prices on these, as well as on various breakfast foods.
Review 32:The B&B was classy and well equipped with features.
Review 33:I would prefer if the daily rate was all inclusive. The actual charge for 6 night stay was an additional EUR55 due to various taxes and charges not being included in the quoted nightly rate.
Review 34:Vila Alice is one of the best B&Bs I have stayed in this part of Europe.
Review 35:The air condition did not work at the first room, but the boss immediately changed another room for me, which is bigger, and with one spacious balcony.
Review 36:Use of a washing machine and iron would have topped up the rating
Review 37:Complimentary coffee and schnaps on arrival lovely floors if you have been wearing walking boots all week you can walk bare foot everywhere in this house and garden.
Review 38:Found out upon our arrival that the Hot Tub was out of service. Wish we had known that before booking. Everything else about this place was extra special.
Review 39:Would have liked to have had access to tea and coffee as advertised by booking.com.
Review 40:Beautifully decorated, comfortable villa, staff helpful and friendly- even provided us with a bottle of wine to celebrate our anniversary! Ten minutes to the Lake, good breakfast
Review 41:little bit pricey
Review 42:Very nice villa with large and well designed rooms. Not in the very center of Bled but convenient location. Very nice sauna (for a fee).
Review 43:Vila Alice is in a great location, has extremely friendly and helpful staff, and is pleasant and comfortable to stay in. Even though on business, being there was very relaxing.
Review 44:The bed in our room was a little bit too hard.
Review 45:Discovering an exceptional place like this makes you really happy. It is so beautiful! An old turn-of-the-century villa transformed into a modern B&B where every detail reflects style and class. A fascinating mix of contrasts. We just loved it. Moreover, it has a perfect location; just a few minutes walk from the town center of Bled. We were there to play golf. The golf course is less than ten minutes away by car.
Review 46:This is a wonderful bed and breakfast that is in the perfect location for visiting Bled. The staff is warm, welcoming and very helpful. If you want a comfortable get away for a first visit to Slovenia or repeat visitor, this is a great option.
Review 47:Lunch & dinner not available.
Review 48:We spent a long weekend of 3 excellent nights in Vila Alice. Rooms are clean, quiet and equipped with modern minimalist furnitures. Free WIFI, breakfast and optional golf cart hire complete the package. Lake is less than 3 mins walk. I would definitelly recommend Vila Alice as opposed to the old-school large hotels right beside the lake.
Review 49:Staff could have been friendlier, the owner was not warm and welcoming. I had to introduce myself and ask if she was the innkeeper. Staff had few opinions about what was best to do and recommendations for activities. A bit stiff for what I consider a b&b. Early checkout and closed-down atmosphere at night made it feel more like a youth hostel.
Review 50:Nice quiet location, lovely garden, sitting room, sun room. Nice healthy breakfast.
Review 51:The rather expensive room with balcony we were in faces the street and was noisy at night.I would not recommend the room. we asked to change to a quiter room but they refused since we had ordered this room. To use the jaccusi you have to pay extra money.
Review 52:public rooms are beautifully decorated. Nice garden. very nice breakfast.
Review 53:We were asked for leaving our room although we had booked it for one day more. We were told that one guest is unexpectedly arriving earlier. The owner apologized to us for that with a bottle of wine, the praise was reduced but...
Review 54:The villa itself and our room were nice. Modern with a touch of Alice from Wonderland mixed with colors of the Blade like.
Review 55:Request a room at the back of the house if you can, as our room was in the front facing the street and it was quite noisy at night when we were trying to sleep.
Review 56:Pretty, modern interior, nice clean room. Friendly staff. Within walking distance to the major sites.
Review 57:I did not like leaving!
Review 58:I liked everything about Villa Alice. The owner and the staff were extremely professional and very personable. The facilities and my room were picture book perfect. I ended up staying an extra night at the behest of the lovely owner, Neja, and her generosity was the icing on the cake! I will definitely be back!
Review 59:We felt it was very expensive for what we got. The staff did not provide much in the way of service. Breakfast was below average with old fruit and bread being served.
Review 60:We had a pleasant stay. The bedroom was comfortable and the garden setting was lovely.
Review 61:The staff was great! They made our time there seem special and did their everything to make us feel comfortable. We had complimentary bottles of sparkling wine and sweets and the jacuzzi for ourselves. Of course the place isn't cheap but neither was the experience. We totally recommend! Our compliments for the whole crew, your hotel was the most beautiful we've ever been to!
Review 62:We had a lovely quiet room in the garden. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating and the location was just a five minute walk from Lake Bled.
Review 63:At Vila Alice you don't feel like you are at home despite the lovely accommodations. The common spaces sre locked at 7:30 pm so you can't sit in the eating area or porch in the evening and don't open until 8:00 am. There are video cameras and a lot of signage telling guests what is not allowed. The breakfast was fair- but there were extra charges for simple things like eggs and lattes. There was also an extra charge for using the jacuzzi and having food in your room. We felt like children!
Review 64:The hotel is beautiful- the accommodations are very nice. Each room is unique and decorated beautifully. Our room was very cute, clean, and spacious.
Review 65:Value for money - a bit too expensive to what it offered, although I guess you just pay for the "Bled" location. Breakfast - would be nicer with warm component (e.g. eggs).
Review 66:Nicely decorated room, in general all looked new and tastefully decorated.
Review 67:Checkout time is quite early (10:30am), especially since reception is not available 24 hours, and can make guests feel hurried if they want to enjoy breakfast. Most lodgings allow checkout until at least 11am without incurring any penalties.
Review 68:This bed and breakfast is clean and includes a continental buffet breakfast with fresh food and a fair amount of choices. Overall ambiance is relaxing and the grounds are clearly well-tended. Parking on-site is available, but not guaranteed.
Review 69:The house is just beautiful and staff very friendly. Felt very welcome right from the start. Vila Alice, the town Bled and its surroundings were all worth a visit.
Review 70:Some of the staff very friendly some not very, more bicycles can be made available for guests..
Review 71:Comfort,design,big rooms, independent rooms, design and volume of rooms, jacuzzi..
Review 72:Staff a little focused on how busy they were getting ready for new arrivals rather than allowing the existing people to finish their holiday feeling important/valued.
Review 73:The ambience was lovely, breakfast was lovely, a great location very close to the lake and pleasant restaurants and the sights without being on the main strip. Romantic and lovely attention to detail. Good, free wifi connection. Thank you.
Review 74:We were totally pleased. We wouldn't change a thing. My wife and I are so happy that we selected Vila Alice. In addition to being a wonderful accommodation, Lake Bled was a great town to visit. Highly recommended!
Review 75:Nothing
Review 76:Beautiful rooms and breakfast area
Review 77:style of accomodation, man on reception, welcome drink...
Review 78:Everything
Review 79:Bad attitude to children.
Review 80:Beautiful house, lovely furnishings, excellent customer service from staff always able to give a bit more
Review 81:Great little place
Review 82:very meager breakfast many house rules that are extremely alienating upon arrival
Review 83:the vila is really beautiful and quiet
Review 84:Wonderful hillview from our room, and from breakfast room. One of the most friendly and charming place We've ever been.
Review 85:The interior was well designed and cosy. We were extremly satisfied with the service.
Review 86:Luxury room
Review 87:decoration was very tasty
Review 88:Good location, old fashion house, big room, nice staff
Review 89:- thin walls
Review 90:- renovated rooms - free wifi - own parking lot - the staff spoke very good English and they were very helpful
Review 91:Limited availability of Reception
Review 92:Friendly and helpful staff Lovely and well-designed rooms Walking distance from the Lake
Review 93:Very nicely furnished hotel, almost like boutique hotel. Helpful staff. Close to all interesting spots on the lake.
Review 94:Lovely property and amazing rooms so close to town. The staff were really amazing also, would definitely come back to stay again!
Review 95:staff locatin room
Review 96:- limited time for the check in - very early check out - Reception not for 24 HR .
Review 97:Staff was wonderful
Review 98:The host was wonderfully kind and helpful! Enjoyed breakfast and the quiet property. Centrally located for a nice walk to everything. Complimentary umbrellas were nice since it rained.
Review 99:everything is perfect; room, kitchen, villa, garden and especially staff. It could be also a honeymoon hotel. Go there and do not think anything else, just relax.
Review 100:The atmosphere is cold and the owner is unwelcoming. It's a pity as this place has tremendous potential
Review 101:Gorgeous place, wonderful rooms and very nice staff
Review 102:It is necessary to pay for wi-fi. That is difficult to accept in todays modern world at such a high standard establishment. Seems abit mean.
Review 103:Allen !!!! He is so inviting, helpful and friendly.
Review 104:We liked the cleanliness of the room and the beauty of the whole facility. It was well kept and furnished with a taste. The garden view from our room was a wonderful treat. The location was perfectly matching our primal purpose of the stay, walking and having easy access to the old center, while enjoying the quiet surroundings.
Review 105:Our stay was affected by the fact that we were the only people staying in the hotel for our first couple of nights - so while the staff did their best, our breakfast was not as requested because a message did not get passed on, and the whole building was a bit cold at first. Coffee could have been better. I doubt if these issues would have arisen in more normal circumstances.
Review 106:Quiet and very comfortable in a stunningly beautiful area, with many excellent features in the hotel.
Review 107:The shower didn't drain fast enough and leaked all over the floor. The buffet breakfast was not very appetizing. There was no fruit or yogurt, not much in the way of cereals. They charged for the wi-fi.
Review 108:Vila Alice had a very nice design in the rooms and was quite clean and spacious. It was a perfect location and our room had a view of the mountains.
Review 109:The best place to stay in bled, nice location and the staff was so friendly. i booked in a 4 star hotel because the only 5 star hotel was closed and i regretted. the next day i checked in vila alice, In my opinion vila alice is the best.
Review 110:I liked how this small bed and breakfast didn't look like the larger hotels. Let me clarify. The larger hotels look like they were stuck with 80's/90's decor, looked very cheap. Alice looks up to date and the staff is very cordial. We were welcomed with a welcome drink, some brandy. I wanted another, so they gave me more. But overall, this place has great value, cleanliness, great staff, and nice decor.
Review 111:WiFi. Need to pay 5 euro extra per 24 hours for this. Considering the price they charge for the room, I think it would have been nice for them to include that as part of the room charge.
Review 112:Excellent stay. Staffs were extremely attentive and welcoming since you stepped into the door and until you leave. They are all happy to answer any questions you have and provide extra information about the area and Slovenia in general. Room is spacious and the house has a nice garden where you can relax. Really close to shops, bus stops and of course lake bled itself. Highly recommend staying here.
Review 113:Loved it all.
Review 114:Our room #3 was a larger room and fantastic. We were with a few friends as well. There are plenty of areas to sit around downstairs if you don't want to venture out or if you want to have a rest and read. The staff and owner were very friendly and cooked a cake of some sort every day for morning or afternoon tea.
Review 115:Only small things - like putting a trash can in the room instead of only in the bathroom and possibly including soap in the bathroom instead of only shower gel. Alice was one of the best places I've stayed so there's not much negative to say about it!
Review 116:The staff was extremely nice and helpful. The breakfast selections were very good although there's no "hot" breakfast options such as eggs. They made delicious homemade desserts in the mornings. I stayed in the Fire Room that has a big outdoor balcony that is like having another room in addition to your hotel room. The room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was well appointed with toiletries and the entire hotel was very clean. There was a beautiful view of the mountains from the balcony on the other side of the room. It was only a 7 - 10 minute walk down to Lake Bled and many restaurants. You can also rent a bike or for 25 euro a day rent a golf cart that will easily get you around. The location is close to the cathedral. There are also about 6 parking spaces - I never had troubles getting a space even if I arrived late in the evening. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at Vila Alice - it was very relaxing and comfortable.
