Reviews for Casa Praia Mar

Review 1:The location is wonderful with a view of the ocean and the small town. Salema is a lovely little town, very picturesque and charming; excellent restaurants and bars, a beautiful beach. We would return to the same hotel if we had the chance. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Review 2:We met many people who told us they didn't go to the Algarve because they heard it was too touristy. Salema is an exception, still quaint and charming with a gorgeous beach and a few excellent restaurants and bars. Casa Praia Mar is a great value in a perfect location.

Review 3:Poor internet service in the room, but worked well by the pool. Next to the main road which leads into town so if you are a light sleeper keep the balcony doors closed.

Review 4:Studio apartment nicely equipped plus full balcony and ocean view. The ocean waves lull you to sleep. Quality construction. Private secure parking. Pool. Friendly accommodating staff.

Review 5:Nothing.

Review 6:We loved the great location of the apartment & pool overlooking the beach at Salema, and choice of local restaurants. Warm friendly welcome & great service by the staff. Glad to report that the WIFI worked throughout our 2 week stay.

Review 7:Nothing

Review 8:Wonderful location and welcoming staff. Clean with great amenities. Peaceful, private and secure with great parking. Would stay there again! Loved it!

Review 9:We were a bit disappointed that our room did not have a view of the beach, given the wording in the listing.

Review 10:Nice location. We thought it would be on the beach, but it was just across the street. The operators were very friendly. On-site parking was great. We enjoyed our stay.

Review 11:The walls are thin and you can hear the people in the adjacent units.

Review 12:Balcony overlooking the beach and ocean. Great beach. Three or more great places to eat within 5 minutes walk. Picture perfect and clean beaches in Salema and all around the area.

Review 13:Wonderful apartment, very polite and accessible staff. very spacious, well equipped and super air conditioning. It all could not have been better. Thoroughly recommended

Review 14:The only thing to comment on would be the pool temperature...a little heat in it would have made it great for a family swim away from the sea... But it was just too cold for the little one...

Review 15:Very welcoming staff, great location...we had a room next to the pool which was ideal with a young (non mobile) baby...

Review 16:Fantastic location with sea view and just a stone's throw to the beach and a selection of great restaurants. The kitchenette was a useful added bonus. Salema is a beautiful and relaxing village.

Review 17:Very minor but the pool is freezing (that didn't stop me using it everyday!) Solar panel connected to the water pump would be great :) but this is no different to any of the pools in Portugal - so not a unique point for this hotel!

Review 18:Location is fantastic. All the charms of being on the beach from the comfort of the pool or from your balcony! The staff are very friendly and the rooms were spotless. They're cleaned everyday. We felt Salema is as authentic as you're going to get in the Algarve, so close to the coast! The daily deliveries of the fish as they drive in to the village beeping their horns adds to the charm!

Review 19:This is a great place ...Since we where at high season there was a few extra visitors. But it had the feel of a quiet village. We where two couples and loved it. Great service and everyone was helpful and friendly.

Review 20:Our very spacy and clean apartment was on the last floor and the view from the balcony was just amazing. We enjoyed having nreakfast there in the morning. The little kitchen is well equiped. The bed is big and very comfortable. Bathroom very nice. The pool is also very nice and conventient to have a short swim in the morning or inbetween. All in all we had a fantastic stay.

Review 21:We hadn't realised that the budget room had no balcony It didn't spoil our holiday as the room was beautiful but on our next visit I would make sure we booked a balcony.

Review 22:The whole building was brand new secure and spotlessly clean.

Review 23:Only a stone's throw from one of the best beaches in Portugal. Nice clean fresh and newly constructed apart-hotel. Functional for quick and easy breakfast and fast pasta dinner. Little pool was perfect for freshening up after hours on the beach. Nearby fish restos were delicious.

Review 24:This hotel was a 10 in all respects even before they generously gave my wife flowers, sparkling wine and marzipan sweets for her birthday. Great room, free parking, excellent view of waves breaking on a beautiful stretch of beach, comfortable bed, modern bathroom, clean and spacious with tea and coffee making facilities (rare in Portugal). Salema is worthy of at least a couple of nights with Sagres/Cape St Vincent and Lagos an easy drive and a quiet and relaxed beach a short walk down the road. A seafood meal at Restaurant o Lourenco is unmissable with the quality making up for its location a little back from the beachfront and for a special treat try Dom Sebastiaos in Lagos. Thank you Casa Praia Mar for making our stay in Salema so memorable.

Review 25:Would have liked continental breakfast or fresh coffee in am

Review 26:Close proximity to many beautiful isolated, beaches; across the street from bus stop; air conditioning; refrigerator; pool; great wifi

Review 27:When we arrived we were disappointed to find that there wasn't a table and chairs inside the room nor a sofa. We questioned this and it was quickly rectified. The sliding doors on the balcony wouldn't lock even after someone came to look at them. We were told it was a safe town but this didn't make us feel any better. Wifi wasn't good.

Review 28:The location of Casa Praia Mar is fantastic! Our room had a lovely balcony looking towards Salema's beautiful beach. The size of our room was great and the kitchen set up was wonderful. It was lovely to have the use of the pool as well as being able to swim at the beach.

Review 29:We absolutely loved Casa Praia Mar and the small town of Salema! The location is perfect and the suite is very modern, comfortable, clean and cared for. Can't wait to go back!

Review 30:Everything was perfect!

Review 31:Everything was great! The beach was within seconds of the condo. The condo was large with a great bathroom and kitchen! Wonderful food... fun bar!

Review 32:- average of 9,4 is a bit overrated in our opinion but we would still definitely choose casa praia mar again if travelling to Salema for second time.

Review 33:+ Pool + Views from the balcony + Small kitchen in the room and good size fridge

Review 34:This property is about as close to the beach as you could get in this town. The receptionist was particularly caring and helpful. Everything is within walking distance. Secure parking is provided across the street.

Review 35:We really enjoyed our stay in Salima. The hotel was in a very convenient location for walking around town. The staff was really nice and friendly, the whole place was super clean and we had a lovely, big balcony with a view to the ocean.

Review 36:Glad we brought our own soap and lotion from other hotels. Internet was in and out, but eventually fixed it. Probably helped us get off of our gadgets!

Review 37:Assaldo, Maria and Kingy were all so nice and helpful. This is a sleepy little beach town, but perfect for winding down a two week trip in Portugal. Day trips from this location were excellent. Atlantico Restaurant nearby was amazing as was the little Indian restaurant Haveli. Room was spacious and clean. Kitchenette perfect for our own breakfasts in the morning.

Review 38:Could do with a few more plug sockets, had to keep unplugging things to use. Mugs needed for coffee and tea, not small cups

Review 39:Position of apartments, pool, cleanliness,

Review 40:There was no Wifi, a problem of which the hotel is aware. I used Wifi in nearby cafés when possible.

Review 41:The hotel has a boutique atmosphere and is excellent value for money. The view was stunning, the staff friendly and helpful. I would love to return and recommend this hotel highly.

Review 42:The bed would be much more comfortable with a topmadras. A real duvet cover instead of just a blanket wrapped around would be preferable.

Review 43:Nice spacious and bright apartment. Beautiful view of the ocean from the big balcony. Helpful staff. You can tell that they respond to advices from previous guests. The room now contains an armchair and has ok wi-fi.

Review 44:Excellent sea views. Good size balcony with table and chairs. Well equipped kitchen. Friendly staff. Location, location, location! I stayed here towards the end of December so many of the restaurants were closed, however, I still managed to get wonderfully fresh local fish cooked to perfection at Bar Central. I also found the prices here to be very reasonable and the staff were very attentive. All in all, excellent accommodation in a beautiful location.

Review 45:Very clean, comfortable, self contained studio looking at the ocean with cafes and restaurants close by. The owner was extremely helpful. 10/10

Review 46:Loved the service at this hotel. They go out of their way to book you in the room you want. Ours had a view of ocean and a great kitchen to cook in. I loved being able to fix my own food! Room was so so clean. Great price also. Nice lazy small town with great atmosphere

Review 47:The best stay of our trip. Opening up the glass wall and sleeping with the ocean waves in the background was wonderful. It was such a nice view, also fairly quiet until the folks with 4 children showed up. Even with that, the pool was beautiful, the room amazing. The staff even brought us a glass of champagne when we were at the pool the first day. We were tired and had been traveling by bus for 6 hours. I don't know if everyone gets one, or he just took pity on us. Either way, it was a very nice treat.

Review 48:The ONLY thing that was not perfect was the very hard mattress. And I mean really hard. But even that would not keep us from staying here again.

Review 49:My adult daughter and I traveled to salema for a few days on a trip to Portugal. We booked a room here on rick Steve's recommendation, and could not have been more pleased. The owner and staff were extremely helpful, even letting us use their bikes to explore the area. Our room was big, and had a kitchenette that we never really needed. For a longer stay, it would have been nice to have. I just can't say enough good things about this lovely hotel! We would love to return one day!

Review 50:Its not the fault of the Casa but Salema can be so quiet at night that any noise really travels and the barking of dogs and the one drunken fool can be surprisingly disturbing. the is no comfortable seating in the rooms, a small hard sofa bed and the rest is hard dining type chairs so nowhere to spend time comfortably and watching TV if that's your thing has to be done from the bed.

Review 51:Really wonderful staff, the owner is a very hands on fellow and his staff were very friendly and helpful. Its the kind of place that quietly creeps up on you as its so gentle to spend time in and around. Probably a real find out of season when the price falls and the busy resort(for a small place) becomes more calm.

Review 52:The location was perfect. Views to die for with very clean and comfortable rooms. A quiet resort with just enough restaurants and bars. Beautiful beach. Can't wait to return. This hotel comes highly recommended.

Review 53:The hotel is right next to the road so you hear some road noise...

Review 54:The hotel is right by the bus stop from lagos which makes it very accessible... The beach is about a 1-2 min walk and you have a nice view of the ocean from the room. The pool area was nice with chairs and umbrellas.

Review 55:Lack of power points in the room had to unplug the bedside lamps to use the kettle and iron , picking the boiling kettle off the floor not recommended! Would have liked a fan in place of the aircon but perhaps I am being picky! Nothing else!

Review 56:Very clean and airy great views over the beach and square. Swimming pool area excellent giving secluded bathing with super pool. Staff were all very polite and the rooms are cleaned every day which is a definite plus! Good quality fittings through out and a 30 sec walk to the beach and restaurants

Review 57:Wi-Fi did not work in room, had to use hotel office. Owner is trying to fix. Tile floor cleans well but conveys sound to neighbors.

Review 58:Very friendly and helpful family run place. Excellent location with ocean view. Beautiful pool.

Review 59:The only thing i didnt like is we got the only room with no balcony...very dissapointed as the rest of the rooms has great views..Watch is very cold at night. To assure a table in any restaurant you have to book in advance.

Review 60:The apartments are full equiped and super clean. The pool is little but cozy with sea views! The beach is wonderfull, the tranquility of the town lovely, people in general friendly.Very recomended town and hotel.

Review 61:Nothing!

Review 62:Clean, new build, modern design, good apartments, lovely pool, great location two mins walk from the beach and restaurants and a really nice guy running it.

Review 63:All the facilities on offer at Casa Praia Mar. The daily support for cleaning and fresh towels etc plus the added touch of complemtary drinks and fruits etc from the owner.

Review 64:The location was perfect. Great view. Very friendly staff. Clean and modern facilities. A great value. We had two teenage boys with us and they had a great time

Review 65:Very helpful hosts - found a quick solution for a third bed (as I forgot to mention we brought our child). Room/studio was large, large bathroom. Perfect location, center of village, close to beach, restaurants and supermarkets. Clean and fresh pool. As I was recovering from sun-stroke, our hosts were flexible and offered us late check-out which was very much appreciated.

Review 66:The best location...The hotel was perfect and had everything we needed and more. The view of the ocean and town was wonderful. Just loved Salema. The hotel staff was very attentive and kind. We can't wait to return. The best stop on our trip. Thank you Casa Praia Mar!

Review 67:From the moment we arrived the staff and owner were more then attentive - it is truly family run , and without being intrusive they make you feel right at home. The rooms are very large with great balcony space fronting the beach and small town . I cannot wait to return , highly recommended , the excellent ratings do not do justice to the overall quality .

Review 106:The friendly welcome The apartmnent which is very comfortable and well equipped The balcony with view on the ocean The lovely beach and village The good restaurants in Salema

Review 107:We have just returned from a 12 day stay at the Casa Praia Mar. It is a fantastic place to stay in Salema. The location couldn't be better - in the heart of Salema with our balcony looking out over the beach. We ate our breakfast out on the balcony every morning. The facilities are fantastic with everything you could want for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The apartments are new and modern, immaculately clean and are in fact cleaned every day. The staff are very accommodating, friendly and helpful. We had come to Salema to celebrate our Golden Wedding and upon arrival there were two floral displays and a bottle of bubbly in our room to help us celebrate. We also received a free upgrade to a sea view apartment. Kinga was especially helpful throughout our stay. We will definitely be staying at Casa Praia Mar in the near future and can't recommend the location, facilities and staff highly enough.
