Reviews for The Annex at The Chelsea

Review 1:I think the bathroom should be updated, it seems to simple, just find a good medium between modern and the vibe of the hotel. its a it outdated, and the toilet does not flush well!

Review 2:I love the look of the hotel, and the vibe!

Review 3:There is no fridge. There is a cooler for wine. There should be a microwave at least in the ice machine room.

Review 4:We were upgraded to a better room for free. The hotel recently renovated and it's really nice. The showerheads save water

Review 5:When I was booking the hotel I thought I was staying in the tower. I found out real quick I wasn't. the elevator was broken. there no lightbulbs in my room I called the front desk they said that they would send someone no one ever and then they said that They would move me to another room which they did when I settled into The room I decided I was going to take a shower . The shower was broken this place was a nightmare never never ever again

Review 6:The staff was great the parking garage was great the. Front desk was nice and clean

Review 7:Bait and switch nothing like photos, Asbestos hanging from walls bugs fiflthy bathrooms towels so thin you could see through them. 4 grown men were absolutely disgusted and on a Sat night had no other pace to go!

Review 8:Nothing!

Review 9:The elevator was in bad shape, you had to use a bit force to make sure your door was closed, our blankets had holes in them, towels looked a bit dirty,on arrival the hallway had glitter and other stuff though out it for almost the whole day it was there.you had to pay to use the Jacuzzi.

Review 10:The lobby looked very nice and the valet parking was good, and the front desk was very helpful. ..

Review 11:They kept charging and crediting my card without my consent. And i had to ask for my charges via email since i didnt receive them upon checking out.

Review 12:Everything I was very impressed.

Review 13:I left my glasses in my room and each time I called was promised a return call and didnt receive. Also I wish there were more food options. However I have stayed here twice and would stay again.

Review 14:The bed is very comfortable and the rooms decor has the boutique style I like.. The staff was accommodating. I originally booked a room for the Annex but was upgraded to a King room at the Chelsea when I checked in.

Review 15:I was not aware that the Chelsea had another hotel or should I say motel connected. It looked like something out of a horror movie. There were no safes in the rooms. The connection door felt so flimsy I thought I could kick it in. I did not feel safe myself nor leaving my belongings in the room. The elevators are creepy and creak and super small.

Review 16:DO NOT EVER book the Annex!!! It's run down and unkept. It seriously resembles the Bates motel... My lady refused to even sit down in the room. We changed to a room in the main hotel.

Review 17:The Chelsea hotel is nice... The Chelsea Annex is another story.

Review 18:The rooms were smelly and dirty. The bathroom was even worse, there was something on the floor that looked like urine on the bathroom floor. The outlet for one of the lights was directly behind the head of the bed which was touching the mattress, which is a fire hazard. The bathtub was dirty and the faucets weren't working correctly. I will never let anyone I know stay at this place again.

Review 19:The only good thing at this hotel was the staff.

Review 20:The room was dirty and my husband and I were afraid we were going to catch something. We will never stay at the Chelsea ever again, and I will tell my family and friends never to stay at the Chelsea.

Review 21:Nothing it was very dirty

Review 22:Got charged twice by hotel!!! Room was out of date and dusty. Not like in pictures. Had to pay for hot tub. Gym was tiny and closed in. Shower head barely worked. Parking down the block felt unsafe. Heard elevator got stuck in the middle of the night.

Review 23:Location was decent. Good price for the weekend.

Review 24:The bathroom wasn't very clean, the coat rack fell when we hung our coats up, slow internet, pool only open from 8-8, diner closes early as well

Review 25:Location, balcony, the attached diner (Teplitzky's), check out was easy, wifi for free, cozy set up in the room

Review 26:I checked in on my phone 30 min prior to arriving at the hotel, they said it would be ready. I waited 20 additional minutes.

Review 27:I wasn't in the room much, but when i was, it was quiet.

Review 28:It's located right next door to the Tropicana. Easily accessible to the best casino/nightlife on the boardwalk! The quality of the rooms and the atmosphere at The Chelsea CANNOT be beat!!

Review 29:the pics tey show in teh website are not real...they sent us to an old, ugly, dirty building...the room was disgusting...it looked and smelled like the cheapest motel ever...very disappointed for costing $150 dollars.

Review 30:the location

Review 31:The rooms were old and very shabby. Bad water pressure, zero amenities (no microwave, fridge, coffee, etc). Room was only good for plopping down to sleep for a few hours then leaving

Review 32:Location was perfect for gambling and boardwalk access. and it was priced cheaper than the casino rooms.

Review 33:The rooms, generally, are subpar and in need of renovating. The bathrooms are dated, the carpets are dank and there were a number of imperfections in my room, including a hole in the ceiling and dirty walls.

Review 34:The staff was friendly. The room rates were fair.

Review 35:The room didn't look like it did in the picture and it wasn't as clean as I hoped.

Review 36:Location was great, staff was super friendly and helpful from the second we checked in to the second we left.

Review 37:Room was dirty, smelled and can not control a/c. Wouldn't put my stuff down. Went right back to check in and we upgraded to the main area.

Review 38:The listing showed beautiful rooms that were updated to look retro well that wasn't the case. Only good that came was staff upgraded room.

Review 39:Our original reservation was in the Annex which was very old and dirty however the front desk was able to move us to the room my husband originally had on hold for us but when we reserved we saw that they offered a smoking room so we thought we would give that a shot. Never again that part of the building should be torn down or remodeled..

Review 40:The bed and comforter were awesome and the view was amazing.

Review 41:We didn't like the Chelsea Annex at all it was dated and even the elevator tells us that our stay wasn't going to be what we wanted. We work to hard to be in a hotel that not nice.

Review 42:I like it's close to the Chelsea, and when we upgraded it wasn't a problem, the staff was very very helpful, and nice.

Review 43:The hallways and rooms are creepy almost like a horror film. The staff was rude. The manager incompetent and impolite. After changing my room twice and bringing down a spider found in the room still refused to help or give a refund

Review 44:Nothing

Review 45:Everything was awesome!

Review 46:The staff was amazing. Michael the concierge sent a bottle of champagne and two glasses to our room when he was informed that it was our wedding amazing. The spa was amazing. The diner was out of this world good. The food left my husband and I speechless. Overall i greatly enjoyed my first trip to Atlantiv City. I will be staying T the Chelsea again.

Review 47:Some of these reviews I'm not sure if they are valid. I was a little skeptical of booking at this hotel, but my sister said it wasn't bad at all. I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and I must say I was very satisfied and didn't have any issues. The hot water didn't work in the shower, but when I notified the front desk, they immediately took care of it without me having to move to another room. The staff were very polite and helpful. I will consider booking at this hotel again.

Review 48:1, indifferent staff; we had two rooms booked, upon check-in the receptionist said that she can only see one, I showed her the email from booking.com but she didn't even care to look at it, she told me that the only way to fix this is that I would have to call their reservation department and initiate a new booking! I asked her who's fault was it that I have a confirmation for two rooms she said that it's Booking.com's fault, I stepped aside and called the reservation and surprisingly they were able to see my booking, the lady on the phone tried to apologize but the receptionist didn't even try to...2, the most important thing to be aware of is to not be fooled by pictures, understand that there are two adjacent properties both managed by Chelsea and both share the same lobby & reception, The good property is called "The Chelsea" the awful one is "The Annex Chelsea" the pictures posted here is for "the Chelsea" (THIS SHOULD BE FIXED BY BOOKING.COM), the awful Annex is actually very very dated, I can go on and on about every aspect of the room, but I will only mention the basics, hot water and heating, you will have to wait forever for the water to warm up, the heating wasn't working well at both rooms that we reserved the ACs looked like they were installed during the early 80s very noisy and didn't heat the room well, beds are not comfy the room really looked depressing and falling apart, and by the way I paid a total of $227 for two rooms for one night and it was during early November (low season)3,if you are claustrophobic don't even think about getting in that elevator because it's very slow, it pauses frequently and looks like it's gonna break anytime soon.

Review 49:Everything

Review 50:I didn't like anything it didn't look like anything thatwas advertised on the website. Housekeeping never came back toclean or bring more towels. Room smells, the hallways smell. Justnot what I expected

Review 51:The annex looks like it doesn't belong in the hotel.. looks very rundown no vending machines. Hard to find the one ice machine that's in the annex.

Review 52:The place was dirty (not that I mind for the price) and not well maintained. The lockset broke and I got locked in the bathroom. Luckily I was able to dismantle the lockset and free myself. The staff was friendly but also incompetent. It is also virtually impossible to contact the hotel.

Review 53:The staff was friendly and the location is good.

Review 54:I was told on bookings.com that the room would have a balcony. It did not. I felt a bit manipulated.

Review 55:Hotel was very clean and hip. The breakfast at the resturant downstairs was very good.

Review 56:Front desk employees were apparently in heated discussion when I walked up to check out. Very unprofessional. Room style nice but starting to show signs of wearing carpet, wallpaper and paint.

Review 57:Room style. Location. Price. Given oceanfront view.

Review 58:See above. Our window came off while we were trying to open it. Bed had almost no cushion you could actually feel the spring. Bathroom had no ventilation and it's a small room.

Review 59:The actual Chelsea hotel is great. We stayed at the annex and I think it's better to stay 30-50$ Motel then this Bcoz facilities are exactly like that

Review 60:I had booked the annex by accident, The room and the building was very dated and even the Elevator was dated. We called the front desk and moved to the Tower and were very satisfied. My survey was for the Tower not the Annex.

Review 61:We liked the staff very much, Everyone made us feel welcome, the guys who park your car & help with your bags are great.

Review 62:The room was not as advertised this place needs renovation. I was so embarrassed because it was my first trip as a couple and I was telling my boyfriend about it all the time and showing him the pictures but when we pulled up it was a different place compared to the pictures. They also over charged me and have not returned the money yet!!!!!!

Review 63:I was able to see my car from the parking lot

Review 64:What I didn't like is the bed had stains. There were roaches in myroom. One staff took out the credit then, I was told by another staffthe money didn't go through only $91.06. Then, my last day Ireceived my money. So there was a confusion. Not every staff was ont hesame page. I believe they need to provide bigger soaps. Also, thecloset to received ice is very scary. The floors is a nice writingwhere as every floor is "relax, chill out & etc. However, itlooks like a "one-night stand hotel or a hotel where you get tocheat on your husband

Review 65:I like it because it was on the broadwalk and close to Tropicana Hotel

Review 66:We moved rooms three times plumming you could hear down the hall had to move baby screamed everytime water turned on the whole experience there was the worst

Review 67:The annex is set back behind the kitchen and reminds you of a seedy hotel. The elevators hardly work so be sure to take the stairs as to save you from a panic attack. The air conditioning in the room didn't work, only the heat which was on blast.

Review 68:The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating.

Review 69:Three bed pillows had other peoples hair in them :0 horrible! Theelevator was a freight elevator. The hall's were dark and dingy notwelcoming or inviting to customers.

Review 70:The location is near the boardwalk and that's the only convenience! The advertisement on booking.com is misleading in terms of the Chelsea`srepresentation of its annex!

Review 71:Booked one room on the Booking.com website, when we arrived and tried to check in, they told us the room type we had booked was unavailable but if we accepted a lower tier room, they would upgrade our view and give us a later checkout time. Our "upgraded" view was a view of the dirty pool (it was also October when we stayed there so a view of the pool wasn't anything special). We only took the room because it was 9pm at night and we were tired after a long day of travel. When I tried to contact customer service at Booking.com, I sat on hold for half hour and no one picked up the phone. I was so frustrated, I hung up and emailed customer service who, according to the website, is available 24 hours a day, but took almost 2 days to respond to my email. With duct tape holding the carpet together in places, someone else's hair in the bedding, and the unhelpful staff, do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. Thanks for almost ruining our anniversary getaway.

Review 72:Hotel was located within walking distance to the boardwalk and the Tropicana Casino

Review 73:Bed bugs..toilet and bed is low like you were a child learning how yo walk

Review 74:Nothing the room smelled really bad. The morning I was to check out woke up with bed bug bites on neck, back and hand

Review 75:My fiance and myself thought for as nice as the hotel was, the bedrooms and bathrooms where not very up to date and clean.

Review 76:The hotel itself was a very nice hotel and all staff where dressed very nice.

Review 77:We had a weekend stay. During the course of the wkend we exchanges rms four times. The first tm smelled of mildew, the second rm was smokey and the third rm didn't have heat. The annex should be closed, very old bldg completely isolated from the main bldg. Elevators ate scary and feels like they are breaking down. The last rm was on the main side of the hotel, this was worth the money, I would stay at the Chelsea only in the main tower not the annex. The annex needs to be closed. Pls don't book this part of the hotel.

Review 78:Friendliness of staff and willingness to help.

Review 79:Ill never stay there again. Toilet seat broken. Room was freezing and werent allowed to use the heat. Elevator stalled twice. Our dresser was messing a hinge and bathroom door looked like it was kicked in. Ive stayed at the chelsea and loved it, the annex highly upset. For the price i paid i expected more. On top of 260$ i paid for the room they put an additional 125$ hold on my account i still havent got back. For overnight stay it was unpleasurable to say the leaat. Im not a complainer but this wasnr ok.

Review 80:The only thing i liked was convienance of location.

Review 81:The hotel probably shouldn't exist anymore. It is attached to the actual hotel which is beautiful but it is sad, horrible, filthy and I will never stay there again.

Review 82:I had a place to stay

Review 83:This place is dump I would never go back definetly not what I expected after reviewing their website. The room was run down and dirty the outside door didn't even close properly, no batteries in the remote, the air was broken, the sink only ran hot water, the windows were high up so you couldn't look out. Just a total disaster never again.

Review 84:This hotel is in a perfect location.

Review 85:Disappointed in room. They are misleading on web site. The Annex isn't completely renovated as of Oct 2 2015.

Review 86:Nice place friendly staff very clean no bed bugs.1/2 block from boardwalk. Great pub behind hotel Chelsea Inn and Pub

Review 87:The annex portion was rundown..nothing like the pictures. The bathroom is so outdated and there are no amenities.

Review 88:Best thing about the hotel is the location. I didn't experience the Chelsea towers but the annex reminded me of a hostel.

Review 89:furniture needs to be replaced, bathrooms need to be remodeled, better pillows needed, more lamps in the room, AC blasted cold air and would not respond to a higher temp

Review 90:The Annex @ Chelsea is HORRIBLE. DO NOT STAY THERE!!!! We had to be upgraded from there to the main hotel. The Annex seemed more like a sleazy motel than anything else. Elevator to our room seemed to be the freight elevator & room was cold, sheets dirty, all was old.

Review 91:I loved the real Chelsea's rooms, the spa and lobby. The employees were all great...accommodating & pleasant. We had to be upgraded from a horrible room in the Annex to the main hotel and it was smooth.

Review 92:This place was so disgustingly poor, it looked like a ghetto apartment. i asked to be relocated (as did a number of people in the line) and was charged $50 extra a nigh for a barely acceptable room. No coffee in room. Had to go to their diner and pay for it. Will never return.

Review 93:I would much rather stay at a motel than the annex. I've been to motels cleaner than that place

Review 94:We were originally supposed to room in the annex section until a we got a huge cockroach visitor in the bathroom. We went to the front desk the staff was very friendly, apologized and moved us to the regular Chelsea building whic was 10x better.

Review 95:the bathtub was wet when my friend and i initially walked in, the toilet was very lose and moved around a lot. the wifi was fairly poor as well.

Review 96:the beds were very comfortable

Review 97:The room was poorly renovated. Horrible paint job on the walls. Needed a second coat of paint. All electric outlets and switches were painted over. Looked sloppy. Bathroom shower wall was caving inward. No refrigerator. Dusty. Mattress was terrible and we couldn't get comfortable. Room furniture was very old and falling apart. Elevator felt and sounded unsafe.

Review 98:Location and staff were awesome.

Review 99:We had to be moved twice the first room was kind of old looking.the second had a big mold stain on the floor n smelled really bad. Nothing like the picture.

Review 100:The location

Review 101:Dirty hallways. Front desk staff isn't very helpful. Bathrooms need renovation bad - everything looks old.

Review 102:Balcony and view from the room was nice. Bed was comfy

Review 103:Carpets and room door need to be replaced. Front desk customer service (with the exception of the gentleman who checked me in on 9/25 around 8:00PMish) need additional training.

Review 104:1. Location! On the boardwalk. 2. Pools (seasalt heated pool was nice) 3. Rate was good 4. Restaurant on the lobby floor was good 5. Valet Parking Service and bellman service was excellent 6. I quickly upgraded to the Tower which was granted

Review 105:When we arrived in the room there were no towels. The carpet was stained and dirty. The bathrooms looked grimy and unsanitary. The headboard was scuffed. The over all vibe of the room was that of a motel used for sex. The tv remote didn't work without lots of effort.

Review 106:The room was horrible, dirty and nasty, , place is falling apart. I hope the Owners the hotel sees this review.

Review 107:There was nothing I like about this place

Review 108:you have to take a creepy elevator away from the nicer part of the hotel for The Annex rooms. I guess the greater rooms were more money :( but if you are just coming down for the beach and nightlife, an expensive room is not necessary.

Review 109:Location was great! just a 2min walk to the Beach and boardwalk.

Review 110:The bed sank in the middle, the ceiling had a massive crack in the ceiling and the ceiling looked like it was falling in, the bathroom floor was horribly urine stained, the dresser drawers were contorted and didn't slide into the dresser properly, the mini-fridge was missing, the carpet felt damp.

Review 111:Everything. I had to be moved 4 times into different rooms. The firstroom smelled horrible and didnt have a balcony like I asked. The secondone the headboard was on the bed and wires all over the bed and tables. The third rrom had a whole in the wall, stains all over the beds and thehandle to the balcony was on the floor. Such a horrible hotel and neverwill return not worth the money at all. Only the manager was kinda ofhelpful. The clerks at the desk have attitude werent helpful at all theywere to busy talking about their new iphone update.

Review 112:The Annex rooms are old, moldy, broken bathroom and in overall v poor condition.

Review 113:The Manager is amazing- very professional and very polite. Upgraded our poor room to the big tower.

Review 114:Everything!!! The bathroom was terrible. The bathroom looked like adirty apartment building bathroom. The Mattress was the appropriatesize for the bed support. The blankets were dirty. The picture on thewebsite didn't match the picture at all. It had a balcony with atrashy view.

Review 115:Nothing at all. The only thing I liked about the Annex was that I wasable to upgrade to The Chelsea hotel.

Review 116:Even though the room was clean , it really needs to be updated !! Dresser drawer broke ... Wood trim hanging off ... Hallways dingy & dirty

Review 117:didnt like the room they tried to give me at 1st it was nasty and the bed was wet also the blanket looked like bugs was in it . The room was in the Other building connected to it .

Review 118:Love the room they upgraded me to .

Review 119:The room was outdated and full of fruit flies. The hallway was loud at night as if people were party g in the halls. It was a last minute get away for my husband and I but I would not go back. The room felt like it was previously occupied by a bunch of bachelor that wasn't cleaned or aired out well. For three hundred bucks I would expect better

Review 120:My daughter said there was no mirror only one mirror and in the bathroom, very uncomfortable for a room for four people

Review 121:I asked for my daughter's room to be decorated with some balloons sincd i couldnt do it myself at the time and my daughter saif there was nothing and the price for the room was not worth it

Review 122:The annex is like the cheap back wood motel. I was very disappointed because the pictures don't show the annex at all they show the Chelsea which is a beautiful hotel. Also the elevator scared me so bad I had to take the stairs the rest of the time and I was there and I was on the 4th floor. The elevator moved slow and the doors had a 45 second delay that put me in a panic attack.

Review 123:The rooms we got when we first got there was gross, if I couldn't had up grade I would had left. The Annex was not a nice place to stay. The put us in another building of the Chelsea which was very great!!

Review 124:We had to upgrade to another rooms and they where very helpful.

Review 125:When you enter the lobby it appears fine but if you are on the floors 2 to 4, you will be tremendously disappointed and disgusted. The elevators are super slow, dirty, scraped and extremely worn out. I felt like running out of there but I had driven too far and I was with family. The rooms have a smell. The bathrooms leave a lot to be desired. You do not even want to touch anything. It is unfortunate because I think that maybe the higher floors are a bit better but who knows. I would not go back to this place. I found it interesting that when I checked out they did not even asked me about my experience. I guess they already know that the customer will be disgusted and complain. I could have stayed at the Tropicana for what I paid.

Review 126:Location is fine because it is close to the boardwalk, very conveniently located.

Review 127:The location of our room was horrible. The check in process was fast. But the walk to our room was long and scary considering we checked in late and had to walk thru a dark hallway and a closed restaurant just to get to the elevator.

Review 128:The lobby was nice and appealing.

Review 129:When I book the room I I was told that I would be staying at the Chelseawhen I got to the Chelsea the woman behind the desk told me the roomnumber when I got on the elevator I did not see number one for the firstfloor so I came back down to the first floor I saw the security guard Iasked him we were the first floor he pointed me into the direction whereI walked past the pool and the restaurant then I c the steps which ledto my room, mind you the side where my room was on look real dirty butthe other side of the hotel look fancy now let me remind you I was toldthat I was going to stay at the Chelsea then when I get there they tellme the Annex is where I will be staying for the price I paid my roomshould have looked better and smelled and cleaner, will never go thereagain and I will recommend that no one stays there the room didn'teven have a refrigerator now for $500 for two nights that should havebeen a refrigerator in the room.

Review 130:The pool

Review 131:Service ... portraying it as 3 star when it was told to me by staff that it is a 2 star that is why I had no fridge in my room

Review 132:Location that s it

Review 133:I changed my room because the room at Annex which is old hotel. I paid more mony to change my room and move to the modern hotel. The website did not indicate the hotel has 2 Building old, and modern.

Review 134:I like the modren hotel Chelsea. It was good,Excellent location, close to the beach.

Review 135:The "upgrade" wasn't all that great. We were expecting the room to look more modern and be more spacious. Then the breakfast at the restaurant was horrible. We kept going to the country club restaurant pretty much next door during the whole trip.

Review 136:It was good too know that we could "upgrade" our room for a low price.
