Reviews for Sovereign Hill Country Lodge Rothbury
Review 1:I didn't realise that the breakfast included was just bread and eggs in your fridge but that may have just been my misunderstanding.
Review 2:I loved the view and the room was very simple and sweet. It was about 20 mins from any activity. Got greeted by a dog upon entry which I loved. People mentioned lack of water pressure and not once did I have that issue.
Review 3:Very friendly hosts, this is an ideal place for groups as it offers a fully equipped kitchen and BBQ, Pool and Tennis Court. The view is spectacular - great value for groups of "adults"
Review 4:Didn't like that one of the toilets broke and we had to use a bucket. Also the water pressure for showers was horrible on our first day. Walls were very thin and could hear snorers next door.
Review 5:Loved the view and easy to find once we realised how to get off the freeway
Review 6:Drive to shops, restaurants and bars but that can be expected in the countryside. Beware of wild life such as snakes and take a torch.
Review 7:The beautiful views from the lodge and the tranquillity, very relaxing few days. Could sit all evening with a good glass of wine, good food and company overlooking the views.
Review 8:Water pressure almost non-existent. Lost all lights in the middle of the night. Room clean but in need of cosmetic upgrading.
Review 9:Quiet location. Nice view. Friendly staff. Easily arranged shuttle to and from Hope Estate (Concert).
Review 10:Refurbishment is a little overdue. Christmas decs were still up (mid Jan) and cupboards were full of rubbish.
Review 11:Beds and views and good price for the area.
Review 12:We were not able to turn the air con on/off without climbing on the chair. There was no remote control. Egg cooker provided did not have all the parts. Fly nets on windows need replacing as a lot of insects were flying in through the holes in the netting.
Review 13:Beautiful surrounding.Very tranquil.
Review 14:There weren't any comfortable chairs to sit on. The place looks very tired and in need of some work, particularly the driveway (potholes).
Review 15:The view is amazing and location to everything very good.
Review 16:Some have commented on the dated decor which did not bother us as it was all in good condition, however the air con unit was very noisy.
Review 17:This was a peaceful and quiet location with fabulous views of the valley. Due to the time of year and that we stayed mid week it was very quiet with only one other couple staying a few doors down. It was convenient to be able to prepare breakfast in our room when we wanted each morning. Great location to if you are interested in wildlife spotting as so many birds pass throught the area in the mornings and we even spotted some kangaroos down the road as well which was a first for us.
Review 18:walls a bit thin, could hear people next unit. would have liked a electric blanket to warm bed.
Review 19:loved the open fire, loved the view. good facilities close to wineries. lovely owners made us welcome.
Review 20:The room was very ordinary and plain, it needs a major upgrade if they are going to charge that sort of premium room rates, all in all it was comfortable. we hada very squeaky bed.
Review 21:We liked the view from the room and the proximity to the restaurants and the winery.
Review 22:Very welcoming with all the comforts that we needed.. The owners were very helpful... Loved the pool we were very happy

Review 51:Air conditioner noisy.
Review 52:Everything was thought of that made our stay comfortable. Friendly & helpful hosts. Warm & comfortable. Big cups to drink from!
Review 53:Squeaky bed. Mattress needs replacement. Squeaky Ensuite door. Walls are thin, could hear people next door gigling for hours, during the evening. Should space couples out if there are empty rooms available.
Review 54:View. Bottled water in room. DVD player in room. Lounge area.
Review 55:Need more organisation of the welcoming guest and providing adequate information to make people stay welcoming and comfortable. Rooms are noisy and needs some improvements with regard to privacy and keep tidy the whole area.
Review 56:Well situated and good views across the valley and a relaxing place.
Review 57:Loved the location in the vineyards, still isolated from the touristyarea of the Hunter valley, plenty of wineries and great places to eatnearby. We loved the room and the breakfast & little tea breaksnacks in the fridge Great value for money in an area whereaccommodation remains almost unaffordable
Review 58:Lovely, place. we loved to stay in there and make our own breakfast in the morning. overlooking the mountains just beautifull. close to restaurants and winehouses.
Review 59:Location is quite remote. Difficult to find dinner.
Review 60:Fantastic view just out of the room as the lodge is on a hill. Surrounded by nature and vineyards. Thoughtful self-made and complete breakfast.
Review 61:Thin walls so can hear other guests from own room. We wanted to use the pool but it was not well maintain so we couldn't swim in it.

Review 63:Lovely quiet location with picturesque views over the vineyards. Handyto all major vineyards in the region and local restaurants. Hosts veryaccommodating.
Review 64:Quiet location with beautiful views of the vineyards and sourrounding area. The included breakfast was generous and the room set up with a toaster, kettle, egg cooker and bar fridge allowing us to make breakfast in our room. The location also included some great common areas: - a fully equipped kitchen (oven, microwave, stovetop, dishwasher, pots, pans, plates, utensils etc). - large living/dining area with dining table, couches and a fireplace. - tennis court - swimming pool - barbecue area with huge outdoor table. Made for a very relaxing stay and was great value for money.
Review 65:Room was rather cramped and tired. Accomodation not up to the standard expected at this price.
Review 66:Location on the east of Hunter Valley with knockout views. Really good Italian Restaurant just 5 minutes up the road with 'roos in the vineyard!! Sunrise over the misty valley was memorable.

Review 73:This was heaven. The view over the vineyards is amazing. You look out over the vines and olive trees. The mountains are in the distance. It is quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of our busy lives. I believe there are only 8 rooms so you are very secluded. It was amazing and include breakfast!

Review 77:Rooms were quite large, with new tvs, comfy chairs and table for meals.Shower had excellent water pressure. Breakfast makings were provided andincluded eggs, bread, butter, jam, cereal, milk, yoghurt, orange juice, tea and coffee. There was a common room in the centre of the six unitswith several dining tables/chairs and lounges. It also had small butwell appointed kitchen, with stove, family size fridge, dishwasher, plates, pots and pans so you could do your own cooking if you wished. Each room had a covered patio overlooking the vineyards. There was alsoquite a large bbq area. There was a full size tennis court with racquetsand balls for those who wanted a bit of exercise. Also, the property hada swimming pool. The owners were very welcoming and friendly. The lodgeis situated on a quiet road so it was very peaceful.
Review 78:It wasn't cheap.
Review 79:The lodge was designed to take best advantage of the view of the countryside. We also liked the added touch of a bottle of wine and plate of cheese to consume while watching the sun set.
Review 80:Beautiful location with amazing views over the Hunter Valley from your room as well as rolling farmland and vineyards. The breakfast was fantastic and was nice that you could make it yourself in your room. It was a great location for getting around to the other wineries and foodie spots. The couple that run this place were really friendly and gave some great tips on places to visit and try. Definitely be back again. We went on a Monday after the long weekend so the rate was cheap and really good value. The weekend is expensive but it is still a fantastic venue and probably worth it.
Review 81:Couldn't use the advertised open fireplace in the common-room as nokindling provided, which was annoying as it was winter, and the room wascold. The common-room needs a tv, only a stereo was provided. The roundtable in the room was too small, and the area used for preparingbreakfast was pokey, just a hutch dresser. The room tv needs to be wall-mounted as the table it was on was too low.
Review 82:Beautiful view overlooking kilometres of countryside. Has a common-roomwhich is very comfortable, and has cooking facilities, etc. The room wasvery clean, good bathroom, good shower. The supplied diy breakfast wasgood; cornflakes, yoghurt, jam/honey/vegemite/butter, eggs, 4-slices ofbread, orange juice, tea/coffee, egg-cooker & toaster.
