Reviews for Casa Do Brasao

Review 1:Some of the furniture in the room was a bit rundown, but overall the house is in excellent condition.

Review 2:Amazing old house with lots of common areas. Billiard room, dining room, living room. We stayed in a suite that was very comfortable. Felt like living in a different era.

Review 3:The house is old rural mansion with a swimming pool, owned by a family that is also producing very good wine. Very friendly the family was happy to show us their wine producing facility and explain everything about wine production. We were very satisfied with their service, their hospitality, the price and of course the wine. We would gladly recommend Casa do Brasao to everyone!

Review 4:No one at reception for check-in, just an empty hotel and a mobile number scrawled on a piece of paper. It took us 40mins to get some one to come to the hotel to check us in, which was a bit annoying. Breakfast wasn't great. Beware driving into the parking as we damaged our rental car on the big hole in the drive - needs repairing asap...

Review 5:Beautiful historic manor house, very spacious bedroom and bathroom. We enjoyed the pool and the games room, and the hotel is located right in centre of the village so good for restaurants and an evening stroll. Ideal if you enjoy slightly kooky, old places to stay - lots of dusty atmosphere. OK value for money but we've had much better in Portugal.

Review 6:Toilet lid was old and broken, hair on the bathtub and litter was not empty.

Review 7:Breakfast with local products (marmelade, honey, bread...), noble old house very well adapted to a hotel, with extra facilities (billard room, kitchen, commom fridge), very helfpul staff, location in the center of the village with free parking.

Review 8:Hotel clean with exception of bedroom floor which looked like it had not been cleaned for some time. Also toilet seat needed to be replaced.

Review 9:Characterful hotel with lovely out door pool. Use of fridge/freezer. Good breakfast selection.

Review 10:nothing

Review 11:most wonderful breakfast, fresh and wide range of foods, fruit juice ect. nice staff. t's such lovely place inside it makes it hard to go outside. .

Review 12:Trying to find the location and lack of signage that is sizeable. No information available of local vineyard or even their own connection.

Review 13:The premises were well equipped with comfort and a castle home. An excellent breakfast banquet by our host. Complimentary port on arrival.

Review 14:For some reason their wifi wasn't working. it didnt come up as an option to connect to. I dont know if this was an isolated event.

Review 15:The big stair case, the pool table and room with free glass of port. Breakfast was good. Tour of their vine making process.

Review 16:The drive to Tabuaco should only be undertaken by drivers experienced with mountain roads who have reliable navigation systems.

Review 17:This property is a heritage villa in the heart of the Douro wine region. We were treated like family guests - welcomed with a glass of port, given full use of the common rooms, wifi and washing machine, and fed a nice breakfast.

Review 18:wi-fi worked very bad, some details (no bigger bin in our room, towels could be softer :)..

Review 19:Beautiful historical house with antiquarian furniture (you can use all shared rooms), kind personal, clean swimming pool, the best view for vineyard, great trip to wine cellar with owner of hotel

Review 31:really great old mansion with fantastic interior amd leisure zone (three rooms with big TV, american billiard and music centre). Visit very nice restaurante 7 minutes walk Tabua d'aco with austrian chief and pleasent view on the valley.

Review 32:We were the only guests but were well looked after and made to feel welcome. The place is beautiful and breakfast offered a good selection. I would definitely recommend it. Excellent value for money.

Review 33:The personnel was very helpful and talkative. It was interesting to learn the history of the beautiful house - it goes back to 18th century, if I remember well. Breakfast with local products was abundant and super delicious.

Review 34:Beautiful 17th century house. The inside is very grand with a very nice dining and living room. The swimming pool of the hotel is heated. There is also a pool table. The breakfast was very good with lots of choice (cheese, hams, fruit, cereal, yoghurts...). The lady at the reception is extremely helpful and friendly. The house also sells its own wine. Great value for money.

Review 35:Warm welcome from the personal. The air conditioned was not working in our room so we were "upgraded" to a larger room. Several rooms are accessible to all customers in the hotel : in particular a billiard room where you can taste the local port wine produced by the owners. Excellent breakfast with local products.

Review 36:If you are looking to be in the middle of vines, this is not the place for you. But if you have a car good place (10-15 drive) to drive down to all the wineries.

Review 37:Amazing friendly staff in a larger village in the mountains. House was restored very nicely and the rooms were tastefully done. Breakfast was very good and had lots of options.

Review 38:Wonderful old house in the village of Tabuaco. The hotell offers game room and self-produced porto tasting to the guests. Very nice and big brakfast. Nice and warm swimming pool

Review 39:Nothing at all. Our stay was great.

Review 40:We don't have enough good things to say about Casa do Brasao. It was absolutely the PERFECT place to stay to visit the Duoro Valley. Casa do Brasao was beautifully put together and the accommodation was great. The rooms were large and comfortable, the breakfast was delicious and Monica and Ana (who worked at Casa do Brasao) did everything they could to make our stay a pleasant one. We have been traveling through Europe for a year and we have rarely met two people who were kinder or who tried harder to make their guests feel welcome and at home. The pool was very relaxing and the Casa was in a perfect location to explore the entire Duoro Valley. We will definitely be back to stay again.

Review 41:The town's church bells, which starts to bell and 4:00 in themorning and bells 3 times per hour...

Review 42:Just imagine: after long beutifull serpantine driving through the winetrees you arrive in small cozy town. The friedly and smiling Englishspeaking receptionist meets you in front door. You enter the house andstop with just one word "WOW..!". It looks like you enter thecastle. It is 17th century building with tiles, old furniture andatmoshere of old Porugal. Receptionist gives "excursion": hereis a biliard room where you can play, here is a tv and relaxing roomwhere you can rest, here is a kitchen, here is a bar where you couldtaste our produced Porto wine for free..! . You swim in the the warmpool and refresh. The receptioninst leaves to home and you stay on yourown the all house. Thanks to owners for the trust! You play biliard, enjoy Porto wine and views from the window and feel as the owner of allhouse and live still 17th century....Do you want to feel it yourself?:) GO AND STAY! :) Woderfull! the receptionist is very friendly and helpfull. She did for us a tour to winery next morning.

Review 43:Our suites on the ground floor were a little bit dark.

Review 44:We lived here while visiting the Duoro valley. Very nice portugiese-style casa from the 17 century, perfectly kept and renovated. Beautiful azulejos in the lobby. you can use the whole house during your staying there, beautiful big halls with old style furniture.Various, tasty, affluent breakfast was served. Big and clean swimming pool, with leisure chairs. Especially many thanks to Monica, the receptionist, who made us feeling home, helped us in every possible whishes. She took us also to the wine yard for wine tasting. We tasted their 50 year old wine as well. We made a boot toure on the Duoro, and enjoyed the amazing hillsides view laying on big bean-bag-sofas! The tour smoothes your mind and nerves absolutelly. I recommend the Tabua d'aco restaurant, where Thomas, the austrian chef treated us like kings, and cooked amazingly. Highly recommend Casa do Brasao !!!!

Review 45:Lots of space, like a palace. Nice warm wellcome, good location. Lovely and wellcoming, wellpriced restaurant: Tábuad'aço, austrian chef Thomas spoils you !!

Review 46:The room was on the ground floor: a bit cold and dark. Sometimes the tank of the toilet didn't work and we had to adjust ouselves.

Review 47:A lovely old building. The rooms are very small (including the bed), but we could change the room - for the same price.

Review 48:There could be better sign, so hotel could be found more easily.

Review 49:Very nice Portuguese village up in the mountains. Staff spoke perfect English and the vines of house are very good. Nice hotel in general. Free wifi worked well in living room. We were able to use kitchen without restrictions.

Review 50:Our two rooms on the ground floor were "suites" and the bedrooms had no natural light, making them very dark. There was no hot water in the morning to bath, shower,or even wash.We spoke to some other guests who were there on business and had obviously stayed before and they told us it was because the hot water system was too small to cope. If you are thinking of staying there get up early!

Review 51:A lovely old building. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful, recommending a restaurant for our evening meal which was amazing value for money.

Review 52:Beautiful BnB good rooms friendly staff Breakfast Pool close to Vineyards
