Reviews for Casa Dos Ruis - Turismo Rural
Review 1:Excelent reception at the living room, with a great local Porto Wine. Making you feel comfortable and at home, whit many touristical books for consulting. Room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was good.
Review 2:Beautiful, recently updated, in the wine-country town of Tabuoco. We had a very helpful introduction (including a glass of Port, of course) upon our arrival. The breakfast was above average, with ham, cheese, yogurt, an assortment of breads.
Review 3:Absolutely nothing to dislike!
Review 4:Extremely welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Spacious room ( 2nd floor suite). Places to eat for evening meal within walking distance. Very good breakfast.
Review 5:We loved everything!
Review 6:This place is fantastic. It has a 5* feeling for a fraction of the price. The hostess Micaela was amazing. She speaks very good English and greeted us with Port wine and gave us some good tips about the things to do in the area. The room and bathroom were spacious and sparkling clean. The bed was huge and very comfortable. Instead of telling us the breakfast time, Micaela asked us what time we wanted to have breakfast. Breakfast was great. Homemade bread and jam, excellent coffee, cheese, etc. The TV doesn't have many channels, but if you go to a place like this to watch TV, then clearly there is something wrong with you :) We were so impressed we told every traveler we met heading for the Douro to stay at Casa dos Ruis.
Review 7:The place looks exactly as decribed. The room and bathroom were spacious, of a very high standard, comfortable and extra clean. The young lady who is looking after the place was very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was good. Would definitely recommend!
Review 8:Everything was great
Review 9:The hostess was extremely helpful in identifying walking tracks and in ensuring our stay was comfortable and memorable. Quiet but clean and well maintained village with the hotel in the middle of town. Best restaurant in town is owned by chef Thomas, close to the swimming pool. Amazing food and huge helpings.
Review 10:Michaela was very helpful and informative. We had been travelling for a while and she was very generous in helping us organise our laundry. The fitout of our room (suite) was very nice, in particular the quality cabinetry.
Review 11:Nada a apontar
Review 13:Nothing
Review 14:We were welcomed by Micaela with a glass of port. She gave us a run down on the places of interest in the area, port tastings and restaurants in the local village. She did a wonderful job while the owners were away. On our second day the owners returned and they were also lovely. The breakfast were very nice. The best orange cake I have ever tasted. In fact I liked so much I asked for the recipe. We had a wonderful stay at this Casa and would highly recommend it to any traveller. The town and the people who live there are very nice.
Review 15:Best part of our visit was Micaela's warm welcome, orientation to the area and readiness to help in any way. She made our stay the best anywhere in our two month trip.
Review 16:A few more TV channels would be great
Review 17:Very friendly and helpful staff! Beautiful, modern room with a comfortable bed. Tasty breakfast!!! Just great value for money!
Review 18:Only had 1 night so not enough time to explore the Douro valley to do it justice . Next time!
Review 19:Modern well equipped rooms, lovely welcome port on arrival. Quiet (in April) town but bigger than we expected.
Review 20:can not fault
Review 21:the welcome, lovely lounge area. very homely and relaxing.super breakfast with homemade cake and very good coffee. very attentive to your need's
Review 22:The house is located in the town center in the hills above the Douro valley. A great place to spend a few days and explore the surroundings or just to relax. A restaurant and a shop are near. Otherwise, the town is quite small and quiet. The hosts are very friendly, the rooms are very comfortable and perfectly clean.
Review 23:The village is up a windy road. Not a lot of people speak English. Breakfast was acceptable
Review 24:we were offered a welcome glass oof port from the family vineyard. The room was exceptionally well furnished and comfortable. For a Turismo Rural it was a very pleasing place to stay
Review 25:Beautiful place with pleasant staff. Room was beautiful, comfortable and quite. Breakfast was also good. Great value for the price. On street parking is really easy.
Review 26:Friendly and helpful staff. The room was nicely furnished and had a big bathroom. The casa is located in a quiet village. The village garden is situated in front of the casa, which provides a nice place to spend some time watching people.
Review 27:None on hotel - from this location you would need to drive to get to Douro activities
Review 28:Staff were so friendly. Room was well appointed, clean, spacious. Tiny quiet town close to Port Quintas of Alto Douro. Everything walking distance.Best place we stayed at in Portugal!
Review 29:The village location was a bit boring, not that much do, only 2 restaurants, food choice was adequate/boring, but quite expensive - 70€ - for the two of us eating chop and chips with a bottle of local wine
Review 30:Very welcoming, drink of port as we arrived from Mikhaila, who was very helpful and kind. Lovely room, clean and well decorated, comfortable.
Review 31:This was a wonderful place to visit in Portugal, and a great base for trips to Douro Valley vineyards. We were there for the festival of St Joao and the procession at night was amazing. Michaella was very helpful when we arrived and giving us information on where to go. 10 out of 10
Review 32:Nothing. Everything was more than ok!
Review 33:The house looks quite simple from the outside, but it has been completely renovated at the inside and it look really great. Very nice, clean rooms, spacy bathroom and very good beds. The staff welcomed us with a glass of very nice porto and gave us a very detailed explanation of all the things you can do and things you can visit in the neighbourhood. The breakfast is in buffet style and qtuite complete and very fresh products. The village is not very big, but you can find everything you need, bakery, 2 restaurants and it is in a quite and relaxing environment. We would certainly recommend this adress to other guests !
Review 34:nothing

Review 68:Friendly staff, nicely decorated room
Review 69:Tastefully decorated and cozy rooms, very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 70:The welcome and overall service of Manuella was superb. Excellent facility worth every penny we spent there.
Review 71:We were very happy with our room, and the breakfast. We were welcomed with a glass of Port. This location is excellent as a base for exploring the douro valley.
Review 72:Very nice room! Very clean and spacious. Bed was really comfortable and large. Bathroom was also very spacious. Staff was really friendly and greeted us with a glass of house-made port-wine. She was also very helpful in suggesting things to do and places to go.
Review 73:The lovely girl who welkomed us. She gives good advice for trips and visits for the port vineyards and visitorcenters. She offered us a good glas of port on our arrival. Good, clean rooms. Good breakfast. The loation was in the middle of the Dourovalley so a good base to see a lot.
Review 74:Nothing about the hotel although would have liked fresh orange juice at breakfast. Tabuaço town is in the midst of a construction project with some streets torn up so that made parking and getting in and out of the town a bit difficult.
Review 75:Modern small hotel with many amenities including hot pot in the room, AC/heat, nice shower. WiFi works well. Nicely decorated. Pretty view of the garden plus could see a little of the hills in the background. Our young hostess was very friendly, offered us a welcome glass of Port and told us many places to visit. Breakfast was OK but not special - the highlight was a big bowl of cherries (in season) on our table. Would stay here again.
Review 76:There is absolutely nothing to dislike except for the fact that my wife and I should have planned on a week there rather than three nights. Oh, the fact that Portugal lost to Spain on our last night there was a sad moment.
Review 77:On our recent trip to Spain and Portugal we stayed at five different establishments. Casa Dos Ruis was the best. A score of eleven out of ten! The young lady managing Casa Dos Ruis is very sweet, extremely helpful, and knowledgeable of the area. We also received the welcome glass of port (excellent port). The town itself is a gem of the valley. My wife and I definitely plan on staying there again and visiting the restaurant on the other side of the square!
Review 78:The village is rather spread out and unexceptional, with no real centre.
Review 79:Friendly and comfortable. Excellent breakfast. Good location for an exceptionally beautiful stretch of the Douro if you have a car
Review 80:Everything was fine, but be advised that you need a car to stay here, unless you have plenty of time to wait for local transport.
Review 81:lovely room, very friendly reception , with a glass of port on arrival. It was Sunday night and not many restaurants open, so we were allowed to bring our food and sit in the dining room for our dinner.
Review 82:Finding our way around in these towns was a challenge, even with a gps,as street signs are rare. The very steep narrow street can make drivinga standard difficult.
Review 83:The location was great if one wants to be in the middle of wine country. The community is quiet and we enjoyed a walk through the rural roadsviewing vineyards. Staff was very friendly. Very modern, comfortablerooms. Very good breakfast.
Review 84:Excellent host- friendly and knowledgeable. The welcome port on arrival was lovely and the facilities were spotless. The breakfast was the best we've had in Portugal!
Review 85:Mattress was a little firm.
Review 86:Michaela was a delightful and professional host. Even though we arrived late she was waiting with a welcome drink of port. The casa and room were beautifully decorated with wood and stone and felt very warm and comfortable. it was constructed from two old houses only three years ago. Breakfast was good too with plenty to choose from. Parking was on street aand very easy. Highly recommended.
Review 87:This one was my fault, coming from Porto my GPS led me up a very narrow road to the hotel. The correct road was a bit further down.
Review 88:The reception by Carlos was warm and totally reassuring for a first time visitor. The hotel itself was absolutely spotless and modern with all the comforts. The décor was warm, a blend of modern incorporating the original stone walls, all done with good taste workmanship. We so regretted not having planned an extra day, all this comfort for that price. The pictures displayed on Bookings.com are very nice but they still do not convey the warmth and style of this hotel, outstanding. Once again David and Michael, simply outstanding.
Review 89:Nothing. Small village with a small choice of restaurants :)
Review 90:Very nice staff. He offered us a glass of his home made port wine. Rooms are super clean and comfortable. Nice breakfast. Very cheap for this value.
Review 91:It's a shame that we arrived late and only could stay there one night.
Review 92:The hosts of the family run bed&breakfast were extremely kind and friendly! The breakfast was modest but good. No complaints. The village of tabuasco also makes a nice stop or base from where to explore the wonderful Douro-region.
Review 93:From the very begining of our stay, everything was perfect. The owners welcomed us with a glass of porto, introduced us to the region, told us where to go, what to see, etc. The room was big, with big bathroom. Everything was veryn clean.
Review 94:Hardly anything... It was just a bit hard to find the place in the firsttime, especially because of the complicated one way circulation schemeof Tabuaço... I'd suggest to place some signs on the streets as ofthe entrance of the village, or to send directions to the guests byemail in advance!
Review 95:The warm welcom of David, who offered us a glass of Porto and spent atleast half an hour with us explaining all we needed to know about theregion, what to do, where to dine out, giving us information material...We felt immediately at home! The room was perfect and the breakfastdelicious, especially the pasteis de nata, which were almost asdelicious as in Belem!
Review 96:There were no cable channels in the room, only in the livingroom/breakfast area downstairs. Our toilet bowl was not cleanedadequately as there were stains and other unmentionables in some spots. As we had checked in late, there was no housekeeping so I decided toclean the toilet bowl myself.
Review 97:Great hospitality, spacious room, very comfortable and clean (except forour toilet bowl). Although situated in the center of Tabuaço, it is veryquiet at night so a good night's sleep is almost guaranteed.Breakfast consisted of ham, cheese, cake, rolls, homemade bread, homemade jam (there were 4 types), butter, coffee, tea, milk, hot cocoa, bottled orange juice, yoghurt and fresh fruit. Very good price-qualityratio. Highly recommended!
Review 98:Room was not very good isolated for sound, but might have to do with the other guests.
Review 99:Very nice, modern and clean building and room. Welcome by owner was marvelleous. Very nice place to stay. Owner gave good recommondations for restaurants and winery visits
Review 100:-Very clean and modern facility in a recently remodled 100 year old building -Great central location for exploring the Douro valley - Very nice breakfast and dining area - Friendly and solicitous owner
Review 101:Small scale, friendly and knowledgeable host, comfortable, well designed, clean rooms. The location in a small town in the Douro was perfect for us-- some excellent restaurants and access to services in the picturesque village, and a short drive to the wineries in the area. Highly recommended.
Review 102:- nothing

Review 104:nice rooms, friendly staff, good breakfast
Review 105:Nothing.
Review 106:Nice location, with plenty of good restaurants around. Excellent breakfast and very nice welcome drink.
