Reviews for Hotel Rural Quinta Do Pego
Review 1:Unfortunately we had no hot water in the morning.
Review 2:Excellent location with outstanding views, comfortable rooms and adequate dining facilities. Enjoyed the informed wine tasting! Also enjoyed a relaxed evening walk through the vineyards.
Review 3:We loved everything about this hotel.
Review 4:Terrific hotel with clean and comfortable rooms, friendly and helpful staff, spectacular views, delicious food and exceptional wines.
Review 5:On our arrival, we were told the restaurant was booked out for dinner (for a hotel of only 10 rooms) so we were forced to travel for a meal. On the last night of our stay and morning of check out, there was no hot water, and aside from an apology, no compensation offered which was dosappointing. The water from the bath/shower was a greenish hue and did not smell very pleasant.
Review 6:The location is hard to beat, set mid way up the mountain, facing the beautiful Duoro River. Extremely friendly staff.
Review 7:Need More menu choice
Review 8:Everything! Views were stunning no environmental pollution or noise ! As part of the Douro / Porto tour this was a wonderful find for 2 nights. Very close to major named vineyards for port and wine tours.
Review 9:AC does not work that well, Long drive from Lisbon but worth it. Driveway is a bit scary first time up, I was worried I would meet a car on narrow drive ( didn't realize there was a red light stopping down traffic )
Review 10:Everything, View, Food
Review 11:No screen door for rooms sometimes leading to bugs inside rooms. But that's only because we wanted to be outside to enjoy the view.
Review 12:Loved the location and the helpfulness, kindness of the staff. Would love to return!
Review 13:The one evening meal we had in the restaurant was very good but the lack of choice was disappointing. However their is an excellent restaurant about 6km away with and extensive menu and superb location.
Review 14:Everything apart from the very limited evening meal menu. The swimming pool was excellent with unbelievable views. We will be back next year to further explore the Douro valley which we found enchanting.
Review 15:The view as well as the placement of every part of this Quinta was thought through. Modern Danish design is so well done. A little bit of Heaven here.
Review 16:Quality of Portuguese linens not as exceptional as other comparable hotels, fake/silk flowers, as we were sole guests due to off season, not full attention, rushed dinner
Review 17:Architecture, comfort, landscaping
Review 18:A modern, clean and beautifully organized Quinta in a fabulous location with breathtaking views over Douro and surrounding vinyards. Food, wines and port wines are of highest quality and nicely presented. We look forward to visiting again!
Review 19:Everything was perfect! Very nice staff, nice room and garden, pool; tasty food and wines! Best view to the vineyards and to the Douro River. Sure we will come back and stay more than 4 nights!
Review 20:The narrow 1 car driveway leading up to hotel was a bit scary but worth it.
Review 21:We loved hiking and exploring the vineyards and being able to test the grapes on the way up. The views from the hotel and vineyards are amazing. We never left as it was so relaxing. Pool area awesome as well with a beautiful view of surrounding Douro river and mountains.
Review 22:- the fantastic view - very professional and kind staff - the evening dinner which is refined, and with a good association between Porto wines and food - the swimming pool with the view on Douro river
Review 23:The room we stayed in had a persistant noise throughout the night coming from a refridgeration unit. It was not loud, but once I noticed it I found it bpvery irritation. As a light sleeper..... But really this is a "first world problem". The hotel is great.
Review 24:The location and the setting are beautiful. Execllent factilities in and around the hotel with pool side area, reading rooms, outdoor sitting area. Good rooms with very well appointed bathrooms. Small number of rooms makes the whole experieince very intimate.
Review 25:I would have liked to have a safe box in the room to store money, iPad etc. Also it would have been nice to be able to sit outside and have breakfast (no problem to go inside and get the food). These are very minor issues.
Review 26:We stayed for 4 nights and enjoyed every minute of it. Relaxation and wonderful views. The staff is so helpful and the food was very good. We are already thinking of coming back next year!
Review 27:Magnificent hotel and property, tastefully decorated with gorgeous views of the Douro. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were immaculate, well air-conditioned and very comfortable with a beautiful bathroom and a lovely area to sit outside and enjoy the view. The evening meals were delicious and included an aperitif, port and coffee. Would highly recommend. Wine was very reasonably priced. We stayed at 6 hotels during our 2-week trip to Portugal and Quinta Do Pego was definitely our favorite. We hope to return!
Review 28:No choice of menu in the evening meal, could you not do two or three starter, and the same with the deserts,.
Review 29:Lovers the hotel, will be recommending it to lot,s of our friends
Review 30:The staff go out of their way to make guests feel welcome and valued. The location of the hotel could not be bettered.
Review 31:Rural, right in wine country. Very picturesque.
Review 32:Rooms were small.
Review 33:ambience and pool was great.
Review 34:None
Review 35:Beautiful view, calm and quiet surroundings, and a wonderful breakfast.
Review 36:Limited menu each night, but staff willing to accommodate variations in tastes
Review 37:Stunning views from hotel
Review 38:I would recommend to everybody!
Review 39:- nothing!
Review 40:- everything! Particularly staff friendliness, comfort, location
Review 41:We made last minute plans to eat dinner at the hotel. Excellent food!
Review 42:Location Views
Review 43:Location. Food. Design and comfort. Beautiful view and pool.
Review 44:the swimming pool water could be hotter
Review 45:Perfect location into the landscape, amazing breakfast, helpful and courteous staff
Review 46:Reception forgot to convey message to restaurant
Review 47:Location is perfect
Review 48:Loud children disrupted the small common spaces of the hotel
Review 49:Wonderful, attentive staff Beautiful view
Review 50:The room we had was very functional but with the fabulous views on offer its a shame the only way to get fresh air in or look at the scenery was to draw back the heavy drapes and open the door to the common yard which was not too secure especially if you're not in the room. Sheer curtains would also be nice rather than being exposed to whoever walked past.
Review 51:The views from the hotel are amazing and the pool area stunning. The proximity to other vineyards and attractions is very convenient.
Review 52:We had to leave the property at the end of our stay
Review 53:Fabulous property, view amazing, great staff, wonderful food and lodging-could not have been better
Review 54:We had dinner one night and the setting and service was great but thefood so-so. The dining room needs to have the lights lowered at nightalong with some candles or flowers. It was way to bright and sparse fordining at night.
Review 55:A gorgeous newly remodeled old quinta, wine making facility. Danishowner has forgotten nothing in his modern additions. Great breakfast, incredible views of the Duoro River. Very helpful staff.
Review 56:The hotel was excellent. We would recommend choosing the half-board option as the food was delicious and there are limited dining options in the area. They have a set menu each night incorporating many local specialties which were all delicious, especially the veal which was the most tender we had ever tasted. The manager was excellent, providing us with many insights about the area as well as a history of the hotel.
Review 57:Slightly disappointed with the quality of the main course at dinner time.
Review 58:Staff were very friendly. Rooms were excellent and the beds were very comfortable. Location of Quinta was perfect - set right in the vineyards. Breakfast was excellent. Wine from the Quinta is world class. Very peaceful
Review 59:Nothing.
Review 60:Friendliness of ALL the staff. They make you feel at home straightaway. Amazing view on Douro river. Very well kept gardens. Wonderful pool. Room had a terrace with a set of chairs and table. Quinta has various chill zones where you can relax sipping on your glass of port wine and enjoy the silence and view. Dinner outside on terrace was nice, good value for money.
Review 61:Wifi out of order during our stay - staff kept working at it though so not their fault.
Review 62:Everything was lovely. The rooms are very nice with modern bathrooms and each with their own exit into the surrounding gardens. The pool area is astonishing with an infinity pool overlooking the Douro-river and the mountains. We also had dinner at the restaurant and the food was lovely without too much fuss. The manager Felipe also had us try different wines and spirits according to the local customs and really went the extra mile to answer our questions and queries. All in all a lovely stay at a brilliant hotel.
Review 63:Almost 50 degrees celsius in the afternoon in july, but we could drive from vineyard to vineyard with air condition in our car... :)
Review 64:Amazing place with great food and wine. Beautiful landscape in the best spot in Douro! Highly recommended!!
Review 65:nothing
Review 66:this hotel was probably the best i ever stayed in ; the total conception of this place can't be better descriped as : there is nothing to improve the location, the staff ( i mean everybody), the food
Review 67:It took 5 minutes to get the hot water running in the bath.
Review 68:I was traveling with a friend of mine and we stayed in the Douro for 2nights. We received a warm welcome upon arrival at reception, includingbeing personally shown to our room. We had dinner in the hotel bothnights of our stay and the three course menu changes daily and bothdinners were delicious paired nicely with Quinta do Pego's wines. There was also a good variety at breakfast. We were not too familiarwith the region so asked for advice on things to do in the area andreception was very helpful in giving us choices and then taking care ofour bookings. The setting was spectacular and convenient for gettingaround the Douro.
Review 69:There was nothing not to like.
Review 70:EVERYTHING...a magnificent property in a spectacular setting. One of the great spots in the world
Review 71:The wine at dinner was mediocre.
Review 72:A fine place in the Douro
Review 73:Fantastic location high above the Douro. Easy to spend a relaxing afternoon with Douro - wine and river!
