Review 1：The resort is very tired looking.rooms are basic but they advertise them as deluxe. Breakfast is very mediocre and hot buffet food was never ever hot in the 8 days I stayed there. I got a lot of insect bites 3 days in a row had to buy my own bug spray

Review 3：Without question the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in, and I've tried a few. It was so bad that it actually hurt getting on it. I guess you get what you pay for. Also if you are in one of the rooms overlooking the Infinity pool be prepared to be woken up at 3 or 4 a.m when revellers are returning and think it would be a great idea to have a swim, play ball and other more nocturnal practices. There also seemed to be a lack of privacy and some guests just left stuff spread out on the walkway for days. The hotel should take more responsibility in this area.

Review 4：Location is everything for Al's Resort. Walk out of the front of the hotel and you are on Chaweng's main street with am abundance of shops, restaurants and bars. Walk out of the back and quite literally you are on the beach

Review 11：Wifi signal was good but you must have new wifi password from reception every day and per unit. That was complicated for us with children and minimum 4 units. Often you had to logg in many times every Day. The house cleaning was not good. Often the toilet could not flush. But we learn how to fix it ourselves.

Review 14：Great location right on the beach. Easy stroll down the beach to the Ark Bar parties. Very close to all the action on the main walking street. Room was clean, beds were conformable and staff were very helpful.

Review 15：Excellent location, the beach is right out of our Room. The reception staff is very kind and cooperative. The breakfast is average. Overall we had a great time.

Review 18：Wifi is pretty much non existent unless you are by the pool. Standard rooms are very small and very dated, I imagine you could find much nicer in the area for the same price. Walls very thin, it felt like the people on each side of our room were actually sharing a room with us! Our room was full of mosquitoes upon arrival and it pretty much stayed that way! Staff not very friendly or helpful. We inquired about the possibility of extending our check out by 2hours, we were informed that these 2hours would be charged as a full nights stay, we declined this and said we would check out at the standard time, we were then called several times in our room to be told if we did not leave at exactly 12pm we would incur charges.

Review 20：Overall, we were disappointed with our time here. It was a number of small things rather than one big thing. Our room wasn't serviced (we had to ring for towels every day). The bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. Breakfast was underwhelming. We went for a swim in the pool, after we got out we asked for pool towels (around 1pm) and was told they are all dirty ...wait an hour! We couldn't check into our room so we couldn't even use room towels (but see above comment anyways) Weirdest thing.....the shower is over the toilet.....literally!! You can do both at the same time....not great keeping the toilet roll dry..... Drinks are watered down (but this is the case with most cocktails in Samui).... Some of the staff were very helpful ( 2 men at reception on our arrival) others were downright rude...(bar man).

Review 22：Zero service available at the pool bar. Why have a pool bar if youdon't have anyone tending it? With that we also noticed there wereseveral members of staff sitting around when one of them could haveeasily been keeping the guests happy by the pool. Sheets were dirty inour first room also and this hotel is directly over the flight path(this could have been overlooked had the place been better managed).With my wife being thai she also overheard the staff taking s$#t aboutsome of the guests which is extremely unprofessional.

It is in such a great location right on chaweng beach with stunning views and right near the main restaurants and shops and bars. The pool is very clean and beautiful overlooking the sea. We loved our stay here so much it turned from a one night stay to a 4 night stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommend. Will be returning!

Review 26：-A small misuderstanding. When i checked in,the person at the reception quoted an older rate on which i had booked the hotel at booking.com and cancelled.He kept insisting that I pay the old rate on the cancelled booking and was not aware of the newer booking.Eventually he did find out about the new booking and did not charge us extra.

Review 30：Staff were the worst I have ever encountered - not even greeted with a hello/welcome when we arrived, waited 4 hours for luggage to be dropped for our room (after numerous calls to reception), every single staff member when came across had an unfriendly & lazy attitude and we felt like we were being a burden staying there. Safe in room didn't work so had to move room after unpacking everything. Shower was the also the worst shower I have ever had in a hotel - mixer in shower wasn't working so water went from scalding to freezing repeatedly meaning we could not use the shower really and the power was very bad. I got an electric shock from a light-plug I switched off one night. Minibar was not refilled each day and had to repeatedly ring to get it stocked. We were given no towels one day, rang reception to get more towels - housekeeping called to room and searched the room for towels because they " definitely gave us towels"; we eventually got towels after much investigation. Wifi was also extremely slow and unreliable.

Review 31：Best thing about this hotel by far is the location and pool (although pool towels are scarce and in worse than shabby condition). excellent location with Koh Samui nightlife and mainstrip on the doorstep. Room size was also good (courtyard studio).

Review 32：Bit noisy at night time as people where walking back from the nightclubs by the beach but this can't be avoided. The view and location makes up for the little bit of noise.

Review 34：When we checked-in the hotel (1 July 2015), we informed the staff that the transport will pick us at 6.30 am on the day of check-out (4 July 2015). The staff at reception offered to give us morning at 6am and have our breakfast packed in meal box, we saw her written down on a note too. During check-out, no morning call and the breakfast was not packed. The staff (other staff) told that we never requested for morning call and packed breakfast, she also couldn't find the note. She even commended that we should remind them one day before. When she noticed we were not happy, then she said we can go to the cafe to take some food now, but no container will be provided to keep those food. We end-out leaving the place without breakfast as need to reach the pier on time for the ferry. We were not satisfied with the way the staff replied us, it seemed like was our fault but not their fault. They actually can call the cafe to send some food to us immediately instead of asking us to run to the cafe to take food but with nothing to keep the food.

Lovely infinity pool overlooking the sea. Great breakfast- lots of variety- Thai and Western. Good choice for lunch too. Free bottled water in room each day. Pool towels available if you ask! Our room was just 17 steps off the beach- efficient air con so slept well at night despite the heat. Most staff really friendly.

Review 44：The manager insists they dont care about bad reviews and couldnt care less about business! I dont know why would they even employ somebody like that! Bathrooms are the worst I have ever seen as the pot would not flush and simply flow over !! This was after they supposedly already fixed it! After confirming they would give us an early check in and sending a vehicle to pick us up (at a premium surcharge) the manager says that we were told we could come early and wait but that did not mean they would give us an early check in!!! When I insisted that they were the ones who had confirmed the early check in I was told that we could check in early if we dont mind dirty rooms as the hotel rooms take time to clean! Can you imagine that kind of an attitude in the hospitality industry??? They have a rate card for anything broken or misplaced from the room and its by far the dumbest thingI have ever seen! Nobody with the slightest idea about hospitality can stoop that low! The place is just plain pathetic!! AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! Just avoid Koh Samui if no other hotel is available but avoid Als!

Review 109：I was a bit worried when I read the latest reviews, but the hotel proved to be absolutely fine. It's quiet (this is great value considering the nearby beach clubs), the two pools are great, rooms are well equipmed and very clean and the view from the breakfast restaurant is astonishing.

Review 110：Please be aware that Al's has 2 wings. The new wing is where all the good reviews are coming from. The old wing is where all the bad reviews are coming from. The older rooms, which is where I ended up, are clean. But they are in dire need of upkeep and are not worth the price. To me it was only slightly better than a cheap backpacker's hotel. There was a distinct 'green' smell coming from in between the sheets and the sink area in the bathroom has you standing on wooden pallets where you can see through to the uncleaned concrete floor. My friends stayed at a place down the road with the same facilities but cheaper. Either make sure you get a room in the new wing, or find somewhere else. The old wing is not worth the price.

Review 123：I have been at als resort a few times, each time it goes down hill a bit more. This time was the worst and last time i stay there. The general upkeep is terribble. All the ponds around the property are green and moldy, the beach and pool furniture is beat up and old, the beds in the stabdard room we worse than sleeping on the 20 hour plane ride there. The breakfast was almost unedible, and on our second last night giant cockroaches kept coming out of the shower drain and into the room so the upgraded us to a slightly better room with an outdoor shower that was infested with tiny spiders The price is decent but in my opinion soend more and go somewhere better. What i did like is the location is great and everytime i go back i sit and chat with the beach bartender Un, hes the single best thing about this resort.

I had read about this in previous reviews so it's an issue the management and staff are aware of and have not dealt with. I did tell them but nothing was done and no change of room was offered.
