Reviews for Paul Do Mar Aparthotel
Review 1:nothing to mention, however more picky guest might find things to mention. in this case book newer accomodation, this is a bit older property but still in decent working order.
Review 2:the hotel is great value . we enjoyed locatiuon at the end of the town, very quite, hotel has heated swim pool which was great. food was decent and dont miss to have dinner there once. the room had kitchennet and big balcony withthe Ocean view. nice!!! recomended.
Review 3:we booked 5 nights half board. never again Not consumed food was reheated the next day Refreshment drink ,like wine and water had to be paid extra. Yes, they charged 2.20 euros for a bottle of water
Review 4:room was god and staff helpful
Review 5:A bit further from the airport than I would have preferred but it did not spoil our very enjoyable holiday
Review 6:Quiet location with beautiful views. Staff were extremely nice and helpful. Breakfast choice was superb.
Review 7:The kitchenette facilities were lacking and we didn't have a kettle, it was basic but we got by ok. Bathroom was ok not the cleanest feeling but not dirty, needs a freshen up.
Review 8:The hotel staff were very welcoming and friendly yet professional, the food was lovely for breakfast and we had the a la carte diner twice on our stay and was excellent, and very good value for money. Views were fantastic and facilities on site were great i.e pool, jaquizzi
Review 9:Not so much complaints as things to consider - It was a bit far from the hiking we wanted to do, we had to drive a lot. Parking spaces are limited, but we usually found a spot. Hot tub was cold, but after telling the staff, it was much warmer the next day. No dish soap or sponge, and they will not do dishes.
Review 10:It was a nice place with a great view of the ocean. We liked the hotel, the staff was friendly and helpful. The room is nice with a small kitchen with basic pots, pans and silverware. Breakfast was nice with some eggs, meat and bread.
Review 11:The beach is stony, although it is typical for Madeira. Perhaps, in high season it may be noisy in rooms located just above the restaurant, but in October the restaurant behaved quietly.
Review 12:Typical beach hotel with restaurant, swimming pool, etc. For those who prefer to swim in the ocean there is a breakwater with stairs and rope handrails, it is convinient even if waves are big enough.
Review 13:Limited utensils in kitchenette, ie no kettle or teaspoons, dish washing gear. Aircon not working well.
Review 14:Good size room with balcony and great view. Inclusive breakfast was very good as were the optional evening buffet meals. Pool lovely. Helpful staff.
Review 15:Wi-fi only at reception area (!) and damaged toilet.
Review 16:Excelent location: great sea view, sound and breeze! Some aspects are poor and could be improoved with little cost for the hotel: wc and wi-fi
Review 17:Confusion with the prices, rooms and extra beds availability.
Review 18:Great location. Nice swimming pool.
Review 19:Staff noticed my birthday was the day before we arrived They were wonderful flowers in the room rose petals etc it was lovely
Review 20:The food was very limited & the hotel ran out of beer. It was extra busy because of the weather
Review 21:The staff, very helpful& friendly
Review 22:Hotel really needs some refreshment of its interier. Parking places are not enough if full.
Review 23:Calm and nice place. Ocean view is fantastic.
Review 24:car parking is small
Review 25:Very kindly staff, this place is comfortable for swimming
Review 26:poor breakfast. The orange juice was powder with water. In an island full of fruits, it's a pity !!! Wifi only in lobby
Review 27:Sea View Wifi access possibility to order picnic for the next day
Review 28:WiFi available only at reception, small old TV in room, swimming pool depth 1.2m only. Can be problems with parking in weekend if you will arrive late.
Review 29:excelent location in front of ocean, all rooms with ocean view. Helpful staff. Good area around the pool for taking the sun and relax, good breakfast but coffee not good - americano instant.
Review 30:The staff at the front desk could use a bit of instruction on how to properly greet guests upon arrival. I always base my stay at a hotel on first impressions. No one likes to check into a hotel and immediately be met with negativity. Upon checking into this hotel, the woman at the front desk was the most confrontational person I have ever experienced at a hotel here on Madeira. I always believed the people of Paul Do Mar were the nicest most hospitable people of Madeira. This person must have been from somewhere else......
Review 31:The hotel is ideally located and boasts many amenities. It is not the newst of hotels so expect dated ness. The bathroom in our room was in dire need of repair and or renovation. The breakfast was fine and the restaurant staff was very accommodating.
Review 32:Nothing
Review 33:Quiet hotel; all staff were extremely friendly, helpful and always found time to talk to you. Our room and whole hotel was very clean. Kitchenette in room was equipped for cooking small meals. The indoor swimming pool was a good size and nice and warm. Breakfast was buffet type with good quality food and plenty of choice. Evening buffet dinner was good value for money and quality. Hotel is situated at the far end of Paul do Mar, which is a quiet village. Would definitely stay there again.
Review 34:We were very greatfull for The flexibility of The staff ta reception , for we arrived late at The hotel for The check in , but there was no problem what so ever and The lady at reception was extremely kind and understanding .
Review 35:Breakfast should have more variability.
Review 36:Very kind and helpfull staff. Good pool and jacuzzi. Hotel is located in a quiet place (car is helpful), there are two very nice tracks (to Faja da Ovelha and to Prazeres). Nice sea view.
Review 37:mattresses, linens, pillows, blankets desperately need replacement. tv extra extra small, and the remote didn't work.
Review 38:location!! the best! we bought a package with dinner included, and the food was great!
Review 39:The staff were very helpful when I needed to borrow some pepper & salt … it was great to cook while watching the sun setting over the ocean. The breakfast buffet was the overall best out of the 4 places I stayed on Madeira. It wasn't the grandest place to eat or the best service, but along with the usual meats, cheese, breads, teas and cornflakes there were eggs and for the only time: bacon. Even the fruit and the salad was decent. I enjoyed the indoor pool and the Jacuzzi all to myself as well :)
Review 40:Tiny TV with no remote control; No soap or sponge to wash the dishes; One can´t cook with two pans at the same time on the stove.
Review 41:Friendly staff; Excellent location!
Review 42:The worst was the breakfast! I stayed in hostels where was better breakfast and bigger choice of things and this is 4* hotel! The vegetables where obvilously stored from previous day, not fresh at all! Juice disgusting etc! I wouldnt recomend this hotel!
Review 43:For that money we stayed in much better accomodation in madeira. This hotel shouldnt have 4 stars considering that there where no amenities in the room, nothing to wash the plates with, lots of cocroches in the bathroom.
Review 44:furniture in room a little bit old. not enough parking places.
Review 45:The location excelent . At botomn of the mountaions and on the sea shore. large studio rooms with excelent sea viewing . sunsets seen from the balcony fantastic.breakfast very rich.
Review 46:The front desk staff was extremly rude and condensending. Ran out of toilet paper about 10pm and was told that housekeeping was gone for the day. Then finally they found it for us. Whatever!! Other instanses too. No airconditioning when you say you have it.
Review 47:For the most part the staff was very nice. The pool and pool cafe were the best things about your hotel.
Review 48:Room and dining room decor was a bit anonymous and 'corporate'. Location was a bit far from the interesting end of the village. .
Review 49:Liked the jacuzzi and swimming pool. Buffet breakfast (included with room rate) was fine, with cooked bacon and eggs available to order. Lovely and quiet location, with view of ocean.
Review 50:Very friendly personnel Beautiful views (room facing the sea) Rooms are very spacious with kitchenette with all amenities Perfect location to enjoy the sea and the mountains (right behind hotel) Food at the restaurant was very good Both internal and external swimming pools were very nice
Review 51:- Bathroom could use a renewal - Depending on what you like, the location can be a downside, Paul Do Mar is a small and quiet village with not so many tourists.
Review 52:- Very spacious room and balcony, with fully equipped kitchen
Review 53:We love the location as a complete contrast to the hustle and bustle ofFunchal. Great value for money. Staff are always friendly & helpful. Theatmosphere in the evening on the sea front is buzzing with life, join inand enjoy.
Review 54:I liked everything in the hotel although it preferred that the room had a double bed.
Review 55:It's good to rest and have a beach vacation. The restaurant is very nice with good food, excellent presentation and the waiters are very attentive and friendly.
Review 56:Hotel is located on the coast and on the end of village. Trendy surfers bar is located near the hotel but do not disturb the hotel. Other restaurants (except hotel rest.) or bars are located relatively far. I think that car is necessary to stay in the hotel.
Review 59:Someone asked why we were going to Paul do Mar as there was nothingthere. They were right - nothing but the roar of the sea under ourspacious balcony. Sheer heaven after the roar of the traffic under ourbalcony in Funchal. The village doesn't have too much in the way ofshops but the food at the apartment restaurant was excellent and it wassuch a relief after the hassle from restaurant owners in Funchal tryingto drag you into their places every time you stopped to read a menu.
Review 60:I booked my stay in Paul Do Mar hotel at the last minute due to itssunny and remote location. I was a bit nervous about some of thenegative reviews on this website, but I was pleasantly surprised. Theroom was large and comfortable - in fact it was very smartly decoratedand had a balcony overlooking the sea. The staff were very friendlyindeed. Of the 6 hotels I stayed in during my 2 weeks in Madeira thishotel had the best outdoor pool (very large and 1.20 m deep throughoutso good for swimming yet not too deep) and indoor spa faciltiies. Thehotel is remote and almost has a cut off feel after dark. I liked itvery much for the night I stayed and I hope to return in the future eventhough I wouldn't necessarily look to stay for a long time here due tolack of facilities nearby.
Review 61:We loved the hotel, but you really need a car. It's in the middle ofnowhere and the restaurant is not great. The room is big and I reallyliked the style, nice furniture and a great colour scheme. The balconywas gorgeous, with an absolutely breathtaking view. The kitchenette wasgood, but make sure you do some shopping straight away. We arrived onNew Year's Eve and of course everything was closed on New Years Day.Really liked the pool and the Turkish bath.
Review 62:Lack of car proper car parking facilities.
Review 63:Location
Review 64:Total chill out for a long weekend
Review 65:The reception Staff were very friendly
Review 66:the seaview
Review 67:sea view from room and the facility of a kitchen in the room.Plenty of free parking.
Review 68:In my staying the best thing was the confort and the must important, i be abel to see the ocean in the morning and at night
Review 69:Really friendly staff. Big room with awesome sea view andmagnificent sunsets
Review 70:Big, beautiful room with a own kitchen. Also a large balcony withbeautiful views of the sea. The hotel staff and service was excellent!
