Reviews for HS Milfontes Beach by Duna Parque Group
Review 1:Given the room photos in booking we were expecting a much more modern room! The room was quite old and small!
Review 2:Hotel staff is very pleasant and nice! Great price
Review 3:Breakfast is simple American style with eggs , coffee , juice , bread etc. It has a variety of food , but very basic so do not expect special experience. I would not pay extra next time and would go to the nearby bakery instead. The cost is reasonable if you dont have time to go to bakery and the Views from the breakfast room are over the ocean and beautiful.
Review 4:Great hotel in beautiful location. Lots of marked hiking trails in this area. Service was excellent and room was clean and modern. Quality Coffee machine in the room. I would come back , but would not opt in for the breakfast.
Review 5:Christmas eve times for dinner was very confusing. Was told we couldn't have Pizza/Pasta as they were not doing them and at 7,15 they were preparing and cooking them. Were told we had to be out the dining room by 7.30 so we went down for dinner at 6.00 and only had a choice of Codfish or chicken. With Chips and salad.
Review 6:Lovely Hotel Staff excellent nothing was too much trouble for them. Room very clean and lovely decor. Food plentiful and good choice Excellent location Would have a sea view room next time as we had a room with no balcony.
Review 7:The view, as always, is just stunning. With the season at an end & many other places closing up, there is still life at the hotel, restaurant & bar.
Review 8:Only negative is that the wifi signal in some of the rooms is a bit weak
Review 9:Great location, superb seaviews, wonderful staff. In my opinion, it makes a huge difference when a hotel puts a real manager on reception - the check-in process is faster, more powerful. A manager like Patricia Santos has the experience, authority and sense of customer service to make executive decisions on the spot - in my case, making a change to my reservation and also giving me an upgrade!
Review 10:The place was to noisy. The room was near stairs and could listen everyone coming in or out. The hotel have loud live music until later evening on saturday nights... Incredible!!! And for the guest who want to sleep?
Review 11:Good location, near river side, beach and center.
Review 12:slow internet connection; really few tv channels, all in portuguese; window at the level of the swimming pool, so that it wasnot possible to pen the window if people was at the pool
Review 13:excellent position
Review 14:I was very dissappointed with the facilities as I was lead to believe they were on site but the heated indoor pool was at another hotel with the spa sauna etc - ver misleading
Review 15:This has the best location in town. Get one the sea-view rooms & just look at the view, from dawn to dusk. It's pretty simple but clean (sort of 'hostel' like in many ways) but with a pool, gym, etc. It's also normally pretty good value (except high season especially weekends). The breakfast is simple but okay (fresh orange juice and Alentejo bread) and the bar/restaurant is also okay (buffets/pizza) and the view makes it taste a thousand times better. It's a very sporty hotel with lots of walkers, canoeists staying. However, the WiFi is terrible & you have to pay extra to use the safe! The place I always stay in town, looking forward to my next visit
Review 16:Half board was very confusing, staff weren't familar with options available. Bathroom had a very bad odour, stayed in a disabled room which not being disabled I could only presume it would be a nightmare. The is no shelving in the shower water covers the floor very dangerous. Reception opens at 8.30am so checking out is an issue if you need to sell to your account early. Breakfast starts late at 8am again a little if you want to get away early.
Review 17:Loved the views, amazing. Great proximity to beach River and town.
Review 18:In the bath room, the caver and sit of toilet bump on the tank and does not stay open. The shower does not have a proper holder
Review 19:Staff kindness and communicability
Review 20:Our shower had some problems as water was flowing down the drain very slowly, and so we ended up with a large pond in our bathroom.
Review 21:Great location and view. The hotel has many services like a gym and a swimming pool.
Review 22:The walls are very thin and the room is tiny. It was a little noisy in the room from the people in the hall and restaurant.
Review 23:This hotel is located across from the beach. The adjoining restaurant is lovely with the best view in the town. The staff was friendly and helpful!
Review 24:Service at meals is a mess, although the food is good. The site said that there was a bar at the pool, but there wasn't. They didn't want to put any extras in room bill !!! A bit pricey for what you get.
Review 25:Great view, nice and close by beaches.
Review 26:Location of hotel, fabulous views over the river and ocean. From comfortable rooms, but also the terrace where you can enjoy your meals or cocktails. Surprisingly big pool area. Nice owner/staff and
Review 27:This was our second stop on our four day hike on the Rota Vicentina Fisherman Trail. After finishing the very hard first section from Porto Covo, we arrived here for a 'Romantic Package'. For us this meant 'Half Board', for them it also meant: decorating the room with rose petals and candles. Very beautiful if not a little too much :) Room was big, comfortable, modern clean bathroom, good bed with thick mattress, river mouth view terrace. Three course dinner was good and copious, exactly what we needed after a long day hike. Continental breakfast, served buffet-style, offered limited choices but was well catered. Given the extremely low price (69 € for half board for two), this hotel earns a 9/10.
Review 28:It's sort of like a cross between a hostel & hotel but with swimming pool, gym, etc. Simple but clean. With views of the river & sea, proximity to the town, restaurants & beaches. It's an ideal location for a stop on the fisherman's trail, some canoeing, mountain biking or just relaxing. The food is pretty basic but good value
Review 29:Liked everything !
Review 30:Beautiful location very friendly staff spacious room with terrace. The food was EXCELLENT and very reasonably priced. The welcome was perfect. Very very very nice environment and service. The room was super with water view and lovely terrace. Very laid back ambiance but perfect service
Review 31:A bit of noise early in the morning.
Review 32:The location and the view from the room are excellent. Staff was pretty helpful, the room was comfortable and spacious, there was even a nice pool and gym available. Will definitely go back.
Review 33:I arrived quite late 9pm but not so easy to find a receptionist as I had to wander through to the restaurant and try and find the right person to speak to. However once I did, they were friendly and helpful.
Review 34:The staff were friendly and helpful. It was clean, spacious and has fun decoration and paintings and a swirly staircase. Also, a convenient location.
Review 35:The WIFI signal could have been a little better as we had to sit in the hall opposite to gain a signal but when it did work it was fine and free too which is a nice touch as many Hotels charge extra for this service.
Review 36:We enjoyed everything about Milfontes Beach. Our room, despite being a little small, was clean and tidy with a balcony overlooking the gorgeous bay opposite. The view of warm orange sunsets were amazing. There were plenty of sports facilities and a well used gym and pool on site. Food in the restaurant was great and the price very reasonable which compared well to local establishments. Staff were attentive and very pleasant.
Review 37:Food at the hotel was disappointing. Breakfast is distinctly average. Out of 4 evening meals 1 was ok, 1 disappointing and 2 were inedible - really, really dreadful!!!
Review 38:Fantastic views across the ocean. Room was very large. Air con worked perfectly. Staff were helpful and pleasant. The town itself is very pretty and very reasonably priced. We enjoyed it that much that we have booked again next year.
Review 39:Some noise at night but only to be expected.
Review 40:New little about the town of VN Milfontes but really enjoyed the slightly bohemian atmosphere, superb views & great beaches. I think the Portuguese save this place for themselves. The hotel overlooks the river and I recommend a sea view room. The buffet breakfast was ideal and good value. Thoroughly recommended, I think this hotel is lot better than the reviews I read before booking
Review 41:The room was at least 2-3 times over its value considering its condition and size. A previous hotel in Spain was an excellent 4 star at 70 Euros including extensive breakfast . This hotel is about 1.5 stars charging close to 120 Euros for a 35-40 Euro room. My mistake for booking.
Review 42:Friendly staff
Review 43:We booked a seaside room with a balcony. The balcony is built into the roof structure of the ground floor and the only time one can see the sea is when one is standing. All room finishes are hard surfaces and noise from other rooms and general areas is easily transmitted to the guest rooms. Wi-fi is only available in public areas and the TV has only 5 channels of which only the BBC NEWS is the only English speaking channel.
Review 44:The location is absolutely excellent. This is a 2-3 star hotel at best but considering Vila Nova de Milfontes is a small seaside town this is probably the best accommodation available in the town and we would recommend the hotel on this basis considering our comments in the dislike section.
Review 45:Sweet and lovely welcome from Patricia!!! nice begin and nice stay...see you soon...
Review 46:Fantastic location and view from the sea view room. We had half-board, the food variety was ok. Great selection of Portuguese gins at the bar.
Review 47:Breakfast
Review 48:Location
Review 49:Fantastic location; great view of river mouth; excellent breakfast buffet; very clean and bright
Review 50:the lighting in the room was not adequate
Review 51:Patricia on reception was very kind and helpful.
Review 52:The room was a bit noisy.
Review 53:Nice hotel with some nice dining options with a view.
Review 54:The room was comfortable and view from the Window beautiful.
Review 55:Take a swimming cap if you want to use the pools!
Review 56:Well equipped room, with comfy beds and a lovely location overlooking the river.
Review 57:Good for families, swimming pool near hotel bit noisy
Review 58:Nice restaurant overlooking the bay. Good food.
Review 59:The hotel is just in front of the beach and the staff is really nice.
Review 60:Basic facilities
Review 61:Good location Nice staff
Review 62:Poor quality bed linen. Hard beds. Convoluted payment system for drinks at bar. Small rooms.
Review 63:Helpful staff
Review 64:Location , service , staff all excellent
Review 65:Wonderful hotel and wonderful town
Review 66:Amazing view with a hammock at the balcony! Okay pool & gym!
Review 67:Unable to use pool as no hotel towels available
Review 68:Fantastic view from balcony
Review 69:Beautifull location
Review 70:Position Great "half-board" deal
Review 71:Everything
Review 72:Great location with a beautiful view of the beach.
Review 73:Breakfast was served in the adjacent restaurant (not included in room price) but we preferred a local pasteleria
Review 74:Ten minute walk from the beach
Review 75:Stayed one night, nothing negative to mention
Review 76:Young, modern, fresh hotel with view od the river an ocean. Excellent location with a nice pool area.
Review 77:The location for the beach, near many little restaurants.
Review 78:View, staff, location
Review 79:Have a drink in the hotel and enjoy a great view over the river and beach.
Review 80:Wouldn't replace coffee when used
Review 81:The location
Review 82:Pequeno almoço algo dispendioso.
Review 83:Limpeza dos quartos. Simpatia do pessoal
Review 84:Free wifi not available most of the time.
Review 85:Friendly staff, relaxing view from the terrace & our private balcony.
Review 86:TV IN Portuguese ONLY
Review 87:Nothing
Review 88:Sea view food and service
Review 89:I love this region !! The food, the nature, ...
Review 90:the renovation of the old building is somehow ordinary and careless.
Review 91:breakfast' balcony is superb
Review 92:There was Nothen that we didn't like.
Review 93:We thought the hotel, staff & location of hotel was excellent.
Review 94:Mattress/bed was old and very noisy. And I'm talking about just turning my body to the other side. :)
Review 95:Good restaurant
Review 96:Hotel close to the beach
Review 97:The rooms are in dire need of modernising or simply paint the wood white the difference would be transforming.
Review 98:Food was fantastic - staff good. The location is stunning.
Review 99:The shower was very poor, just a trickle which was insufficient to wash off after a day at the beach. For the price, breakfast was very average. The coffee maker would have been a good point but as we don't drink coffee a kettle would have been more useful. In comparison to other accommodation stayed at in the area it was overpriced.
Review 100:The view of the sea ( although this could only be seen when standing up on the balcony).
Review 101:Food - see above
Review 102:Location is second to none and the hotel has a personality with its artistic touches and art hung throughout. The rooms are clean and comfortable and have a touch of style about them. The coffee machine and the good television were both appreciated. The views of the river are stunning and the drinks from the bar perfect well priced companions to the evening or morning view. Parking is easy and convenient. All of the staff are smiley and helpful no matter what language you approach them with. The ONLY minus is the fact that the resturant food is boring and bland. It's a shame as there are a couple of very nice resturants near by which are settin an excellent example. Pizza and pasta are not what I feel most are after in this gorgeous location.
Review 103:Some of the other hotel guests were really loud in the night!
Review 104:The whole interior of the hotel. Beautiful balcony with incredible view over the river and the sea. Delicious food in the restaurant!
Review 105:Pool was not well maintained with a very low level of water. There's not much soundproofing either. At least some pool view rooms are directly at the pool level so, if there are people on the pool area, they will see inside your room unless you pull the curtains.
Review 106:Location is very good, right on the beach. As the village is small, you're 1 or 2 minutes walking distance to the centre.
Review 107:The breakfast staff were disorganized. Saturday was busy and when the spoon basket was empty they ran in and out of the kitchen for individual spoons as requested - instead of just filling the basket.
Review 108:This hotel completed a big renovation in February 2014 only eight weeks before our visit and is now an excellent choice. The pool and the gym are great, too. The bedroon had a fridge and a Tassimo coffee maker. Booking half board was a great idea because for three nights it was only £28 dearer in total than the B&B price. Six dinners for £28 was a snip! Highly recommended.
Review 109:Was promised a "sea view" room with balcony but could only see the sea if standing up and peering over the very high edge of the balcony.
Review 110:Nice view from the common area, good location, very quiet.
Review 111:Not very sound proof rooms.
Review 112:Location was great. Restaurant was decent. Milfontes is a beautiful little town with some gorgeous beaches. Staff were relaxed and super chilled when we over slept out check out time by 2 and a half hours, no rush, no stress. Great value for money.
Review 113:Some noise from groups of guests inside the hotel at times because sound carried and echoed along the tiled stone corridors. Only a minor gripe!
Review 114:We were upgraded to a room with a balcony and a wonderful sea view. Complimentary use of the pool and jacuzzi of the sister hotel close by. Scenic terrace bar with views over the water. Helpful staff
Review 115:Nothing.
Review 116:Spiral Ramp instead of stairs, Nice view (Great fun watching the Canoe Club in action), good simple food at reasonable prices. Good cooling off pool.
Review 117:Booked a room with view and balcony but had to have poor room for two days. Bar/restaurant service could be better - tables not cleared quickly after clients left. Food not very enticing. Rooms in need of refurbishment and lights were poor.
Review 118:Location and views. Nice pool.
Review 119:Good location, clean room and bathroom. All things for bathroom were there shampoo, soap. I didn´t expect that. 5 minutes walking to the nearest restaurants and there was a real choice of them-not 1 or 2.
Review 120:The swimming pool walking area is not comfortable whatsoever for our feet. Sharp little rocks hurt a lot (also very hot!) every time we leave the water for the sitting area. We must have flip flops right there when not swimming.
Review 121:The river/sea view from the room balcony is fantastic. Also enjoying meals at the restaurant overlooking the river is so relaxing. Very pleasant.
Review 122:Location was fabulous! Facing the beach and 300 metres from some excellent restaurants. The wifi was free for Booking.com guests, which was a nice surprise! We only had 2 nights this time but we will definitely be returning in the future.
The Fine Print
Please note that half-board and full board rates do not include drinks.
