Reviews for Royal Hotel Queanbeyan

Review 1:the outside rear access was very dodgy but maybe renovations are still underway. Overall very pleased with the Royal Hotel we'll be back.

Review 2:Room was great , location ,food excellent.

Review 3:Building reno in progress so a dingy mess. No towels or soap provided. A bit tatty and could use the attentions of a plumber.

Review 4:Hotel close to where I needed to be. Room quiet, unusual in a pub, and generous in size.

Review 5:Surrounded by a lot of building work and very poor internal directional signs meant I felt less than safe. Really don't know how I would have entered or exited the building outside the pub's hours if I had needed to!

Review 6:10 mins away for my meeting, cafe at the bottom of the stairs, free parking.

Review 7:No lift No towel rail No toilet roll holder Architraves missing in shower room Water from shower waste flooded bathroom No bedside lights Room2 window covered in paint Room 3 window covered in paint and wouldn't open Massive vibration from building airconditioning system Decore depressing Leaving access in morning was very difficult 1 cup in Room 2 is cracked We could say more but not now.

Review 8:Food was fine Beds were comfortable

Review 9:Loud music coming from downstairs. Had to park car well away from hotel. Door between room and hotel was supposed to be open 7am. still closed at 9.30 am, had to ring reception.

Review 10:Handy to centre town.

Review 11:Towel rails would help, also usable things like a shelf above the wash basin to put items on. A small lamp would help so you don't need to have main light on all time. More hangers in wardrobe. Limited space in wash/shower area. No hot water [no flow] for hand basin.

Review 12:Close to the town, shops etc. We had access to the rooms at all times even when the hotel was closed. The manager was always friendly & helpful. The price was good. Good to have a fridge. Shower was great.

Review 13:Everyone says the same thing - "hard to find your way out after hours". However its not a show stopper.

Review 14:Great 'all in one location".

Review 15:We stayed there one night during spring time, heater wasn't really working. I can't believe no hair dry provide, have to go Kmart to buy one. Full of tea bags , instant coffee and milk in the room, but we couldn't find any cups and spoons, have to go to the bistro to get it. The pub close at 10pm I think, because a staff said If you come back to the hotel after 10pm, the main door will lock, have get in from the back door, the back door is so dark and dirty, and also have to walk through the scary corridor back to the room after you get in to the building.

Review 16:Good location, around 30 minutes to canberra cbd. few minutes walk to Woolworth and Kmart.

Review 17:The room was not good. It was in fact over priced. It needed to be correctly decorated. i.e. replaced bathroom tiles. Pillows not of a good standard. The area from the bar/restaurant to the rooms were abysmal, widgeon droppings and general detritus. Best practice? They must have been joking. I do not think the fire evacuation process was anyway near conforms to national standard. Be aware anyone thinking of staying at the Royal. More of a royal shame!

Review 18:The location of this venue was a useful distance from places we wanted to visit while in the area.

Review 19:The room and facilities were not clean when we arrived, (even though they were presented as if they were) as if someone was rushing. Lighting was extremely dim. Remote for heating had flat batteries. Bedding was cold, extra blankets provided when we asked.

Review 20:The staff were great. We had issues with our room and their response was excellent. They couldn't be more helpful. Hotel downstairs was great and so was location.

Review 21:The room is very dark and cannot even do a bit of reading. No towel rail to hang bath towel. Door Lock is extremely hard to use (worried we cannot open the door on time if we need to flee)

Review 22:good location and good access for dinner, friendly staff

Review 23:Dark corridors poor access needed to use fire escape in morning as main stair case door was locked

Review 24:Friendly staff and location. Good meal in evening and entertainment

Review 25:Can be noisy depending on where the room is but hey, it is a pub and a pair of ear plugs fix that!

Review 26:Central and safe parking. Easy to get to anywhere. Great food at good prices.

Review 27:access to the car park at the rear was not good at all.

Review 28:Overall a very good location for a visitor to the area with obvious new facilities inside the hotel.

Review 29:Room heater was very slow to warm the room. Window glass broken around edges and let in wind. Shared bathroom had a shower which would not drain.

Review 30:Location

Review 31:The room was not yet cleaned in day 1 of my stay. I needed to call for the hotel staff to fix the mess of the previous guest.

Review 32:Proximity to CBD - there are lots of shops nearby the hotel. The hotel staff was also kind and helpful during my stay.

Review 33:Dark room, poor sound proofing, no reading lamps, no hair dryer, cold bathroom, no hand towels or face washers, no housekeeping service, cold and difficult access to room.

Review 34:Beds and pillows

Review 35:Woken many times through the night & early hrs of morning with slamming the door - our room very close to fire exit. Sofa bed very hard & uncomfortable, main bed was ok though.

Review 36:Great location, easy to find. Meals down stairs enjoyable & well priced

Review 37:The weather was cold and the heater did not work. The staff switched us which was nice but the heater was an air heater so we all had dry eye as a result of staying in the room. The bathroom facilities was very very basic.

Review 38:The room was cheap and the staff very accommodating. The grill restaurant downstairs was great as was the breakfast place next door.

Review 39:I really can't think of anything I disliked.

Review 40:The first thing that struck me was the friendly attidude of the staff and the way they went out of thier way to help. The food was awesome and the rooms were very comfortable. I also was impressed with the lay out of the hotel.

Review 41:No bedding provided for the fold out bed, lucky we had sleeping bags with us. There is no separate restaurant - this venue is a pub that servers counter meals, not ideal for feeding tired children in the midst of Friday night revellers.

Review 42:The room was reasonable value for money.

Review 43:1. Dim lighting in the room - could not read a newspaper. 2. Room painted in institution dark greygreen - dull and depressing. 3. Room located above or next to services. compressors cutting in and out 24/7. 4. No breakfast available in-house during the week.

Review 44:1. Close enough to where I had to go work each day. 2. Air conditioning - worked properly, kept me comfortable & could be turned off. 3. Room was clean.

Review 45:Had trouble finding my way out early in the morning before doors back through Hotel opened.

Review 46:Excellent venue for family get together. Accommodation meals and drinks catered for by great staff.

Review 47:parking was a pain and a bit of a worry to get to my room after hours, have a bath but no plug. almost slipped get to my room from rear entry

Review 48:location

Review 49:Broken chair in the room and my request to have a replacement wasn't actioned. Room was quite dim even with the light on. Kettle and tea/coffee facilities were adequate however there was a toaster but no plates or knives to be able to make toast. Room was cold even with the revese air on. Lounge was dirty and had stains on it. Will not stay here ever again.

Review 50:One towel and one small piece of complimentary piece of soap for 3 nights, the room was not serviced at all for all 3 nights.. the cheap toilet seat was cracked? Come on they are $10 to buy and held on by 2 plastic wing nuts. There was others belongings in one of the cupboard too...

Review 51:The off street parking was really great for a tradesmans vehicle

Review 52:The few suggestions we had regarding extra chair in room and hooks in bathroom for towels were courteously taken on board by management who were glad of feedback.

Review 53:Recently updated linen and curtains, bed comfortable. Food at hotel excellent and staff very pleasant. Stayed midweek so quiet and had secure parking,

Review 54:Stairs and dingy afterhours back entrance and no natural lighting in the room. Accommodation is unsuitable for anyone who has difficulty with stairs.

Review 55:Value for money regarding meals

Review 56:Bed was a little bit firm but otherwise OK

Review 57:value for money refurbished hotel room with good bathroom in room. close to centre of town, bar, shops and cafes

Review 58:The room and facilities were very poor. No servicing of the room, no hot water, poor cleanliness.

Review 59:The friendly staff. The pub downstairs was excellent.

Review 60:Too many stairs from bar area to the rooms, Back entrance shabby and steep stairs. Hard to balance keys, luggage and big door to enter the room space.

Review 61:Value for money, clean, pleasant staff and food on the premises.

Review 62:I COULD HEAR MUSIC FROM DOWNSTAIRS TILL WELL AFTER MIDNIGHT. NO MILK IN FRIDGE TO MAKE COFFEE IN THE MORNING. OFF STREET PARKING DIFFICULT TO GET TO FROM THE ROOM.

Review 63:PRICE OF ROOM. LOCATION CLOSE TO FACILITIES.

Review 64:Very minor detail but the table chairs in the room were a bit uncomfortable and wonky.

Review 65:Super convenient location with everything within walking distance. The family room was nice and cozy with enough room to move around comfortably! Would definitely come back again in the future.

Review 66:The out of hours entrance was through a back passage way/ service entrance that was uncovered, difficult to get in and out of and unclean (bird droppings). There was a live band on the night I stayed and you could hear the music in the rooms.

Review 67:Excellent location and the food on offer was really good. The room was neat and tidy, with good water pressure and a bar size fridge. The front entrance was secure and very professional. The staff were wonderful and very helpful about making suggestions on what to see and do in the area.

Review 68:Anna super fancy but if you are after a budget accomodation place with good location then this is the go. Pub down stairs wasn't rowdy. Secure parking outback was good. Big comfy be too

Review 69:Access could have been clearer marked. Bit of a labyrinth. Courtyard grungy appearance.

Review 70:Excellent value. The rooms and corridors had good character, including a mantle and feature wall. Received friendly and attentive introduction on arrival.

Review 71:Only one chair at the dining table in the room. Almost constant low drumming like sound. Perhaps from outside the hotel. Only a nuisance when trying to get to sleep.

Review 72:Staff very friendly and helpfull

Review 73:Strange entrance path to the rooms. Room with queen bad was quite small.

Review 74:Great value for money. 5-10 minutes drive from Canberra. Avail ale rooms when everything else were booked out.

Review 75:The shared bathroom had one sink almost blocked by what looked like a small cake of soap and the other one leaked water onto the floor. The shared showers need to have the water run a long time to get hot water through.

Review 76:Rooms were clean and quiet and the beds comfortable.

Review 77:The main doors to the accommodation closed with a very loud bang every time someone came or went.

Review 78:It was very basic, simple accommodation but good for the price. The room was clean and well-presented.

Review 79:Didnt like the fact that they had booked me into the wrong room to start off with and then moved me to another room The next morning I'm told to move to another room but before that happened they informed me no sorry you can't have that room either so we have to put you in this room instead (without) bathroom facilities .... Oh but you can use this toilet if you want (actually the men's toilet) next to my room Otherwise walk thru 2 doors to get back to the main corridor and use the shower and toilet there I was given one nights refund so I accepted that Being a hotel of course it had its restrictions on coming and going times into the establishment thru the front door. I felt like I was in a backpackers room the furthest away from the front door. Didnt really feel safe that night ..... Slept with the light on

Review 80:The only good thing about my stay was the fact that it was near the buses to get to Civic and I received one nights refund for all the messing around for the rooms

Review 81:Very poor kitchen facilities, no crockery, cutlery or waste bin. Only food available was from the pub kitchen, which wasn't always open or affordable. Very limited parking. There was a fair bit of noise from the pub, which didn't bother me so much, but some people would be sensitive to it. The access to the room was not very inviting, nor were the external access ways very clean or safe. (Pigeon poop...) I did not enjoy carrying my suitcase up or down the stairs.

Review 82:Proximity to Queanbeyan shops. Room was furnished well enough, and was inviting. The lamp, TV, fridge and kettle were well maintained. Bathroom was very clean and bright.

Review 83:Lighting in room could be brighter.

Review 84:Great location in town., close to shops, food outlets. Bistro on hotel has lovely pizza

Review 85:It was very dirty.

Review 86:Staff were friendly and they accepted to refund our money.

Review 87:No iron in room No biscuits in room

Review 88:The bar

Review 89:Reception is a bar. Next room has sofa for sleeping. You cant close window in bathroom and it getting cold in winter.

Review 101:staff very accommodating, the quirky stair cases

Review 102:A little too dusty. Poor ventilation.

Review 103:Location. Value for money.

Review 104:The shower curtain was stained not suited to take a baby as no lifts only stair access. The room was quite dusty.

Review 105:Not to far from city

Review 106:Twin beds pushed together with single bed linen 1 mug provided no spoon spare pillow no cover very dusty

Review 107:Not easy to get out of the building in the morning, not sign posted well enough due to having to leave via the fire escapes.
