Reviews for City Hotel Tilburg

Review 1:At the hotel location extremely noisy environment till 3-5 AM every day!!! No soundproof. Hotel only for those who is going be out till 3-5 AM every night!!! Staff is polite but not helpful.

Review 2:Our room was located next to a church which tolled a bell on the hour even in the small hours - and the location also meant we could hear a lot of music from a nearby rock gig! Next time will bring earplugs!

Review 3:Location was great - ten to fifteen mins walk from the station but central. Breakfast selection was good, room was clean and comfortable and staff were polite and friendly.

Review 4:Very noisy position, not only for the church, but also for people talking loud until late in the night. Restroom with bad isolaton on the windows, quite aged building

Review 5:Friendly staff and good breakfast. In the city center, close to restaurants and pubs.

Review 6:Extremely loud outside on sat and sun night, which is understandable due to its central location, but the windows could be a bit more sound proof. This is only if you're staying with young children.

Review 7:Fantastic location and laid back feel to the place.

Review 8:The management and staff were friendly, helpful all around you could not find a friendly pleasant manager he was outstanding. Breakfast was more than enough, restaurants and shopping at your front door.

Review 9:This centrally located hotel was very clean, staff was nice and I was specially happy about the fact that I asked a quiet and upper level room - and got it with a very nice view.

Review 10:For breakfast there was very small selection of food, no vegetables/fruits, not really worth it. The location is very central but it gets quite loud in the evening.

Review 11:the location is great. Clean newly furnished rooms, nice bathroom, nice view on the city.

Review 12:The hotel seemed under-staffed. It was a bit noisy: church bells chiming away right next to the hotel, there was noise from the bars close by, and inside we could hear other customers talking at night and a staff member whistling early in the morning.

Review 13:The location is very central, and only 15 minutes from the station. The room was an adequate size. The breakfast was varied enough (but no fresh fruit or veg).

Review 14:Nothing to say

Review 15:Small clean hotel in the city. Quick walk to the parking house. Breakfast is already included. Receptionist (might be the hotelmanager as well) was super friendly and helpful. Even as someone who's working in hospitality industry as well I rarely get experiences like that in other hotels. So for a night out you just leave the hotel and you can already start to drink beer. Noise level was not disturbing. We were on the 3rd level to the frontside. If you think it's too loud just close the windows :) if it's too hot just use the fan. From the church on the backside I just heard once the bells. All in all we really liked it there and we spended a great night in Tilburg :) Just a hint: I couldn't find a ash tray in front of the hotel so maybe it's better to place one there.

Review 16:There was almost never someone at the reception desk during the day. It was quite easy to grab somebody's room key unnoticed. Or any other goods. Prices for such a basic room are much, much too high, especially when owners knows there is festival in the 013. Prices jumped 150% up.

Review 17:Location and breakfast. Size of rooms are good. Rooms are very simple, don't expect anything besides bed and TV.

Review 18:orange juice at breakfast we water mixed with orange mix, that was poor...

Review 19:the ambiance and energy of the room was great, there was issues like carpet and some tired parts. But sitting in the window frame watching people on the plaza when working on my computer was great.

Review 20:The hotel is next door to the Catholic church which chimes every half hour through the night. Not much they can do to change that - there was double glazing. One bed was considerably more comfortable than the other.

Review 21:Short walk from the railway station. No fuss check-in. They ask you to pay at check-in. No problem with that. Plenty of good restaurants and cafes near hotel. My room at back was quiet and well isolated (there is a lot of noise from the surrounding cafes)

Review 22:reception without personnel, breakfast without personnel, common areas old and uncomfortable, many stairs, no A/C, next to big bells of church

Review 23:The bed and bath room (even if already broken objects)

Review 24:Excellent location for the 013/Poppodium venue which we were visiting, and a short walk from the train station. We really liked the free, self-serve breakfast and coffee facilities, too!

Review 25:Good location for young couples looking for nightlife and entertainment. Little less for older couples who want to sleep.

Review 26:Surrounded by restaurants, stores, near the train station, good breakfast, friendly staff

Review 27:The scambled egg for breakfast was not fresh but was dry and old. Fresh salt and pepper would be an advantage instead of take out salt and pepper. Comfortable bed but a bit short for tall people.

Review 28:free newspaper at breakfast, large room, locatie of hotel

Review 29:Room was old (carpet, walls), student nights next door -- techno music until 4am on Tuesday and Thursday : to avoid if you have light sleep!

Review 30:Friendly staff, good breakfast, fast internet

Review 31:The front desk service is ok. Not great customer service. Just ok.

Review 32:Rooms nice with a nice view of city. Stayed on a BUSY friday night in Centre but room was quiet unlike the reviews of other hotels

Review 33:Can be a bit noisy through the night due to all the restaurants. My room overlooked the square, was woken at 4 am each morning - people coming home very late or going to work very early?

Review 34:Lots of restaurants in the area, very central, breakfast had the basics - bacon, eggs, yogurt, cereal

Review 35:Might be a bit noisy in the mid-night given the bar street just few meters away.

Review 36:Convenient location, free coffee bar, friendly and helpful staffs, cleaning and comfortable room.

Review 37:despite the location is you want total quietness to sleep its not the place as the church bells ring on the hour!!! and the live music venues are rather lively , but over all its a good place

Review 38:location for resturants , bars and shops easy check in wifi great and free

Review 39:When leaving the hotel we left the keys at the reception, i had to rush back to get my wallet from the room at some point and there was no one there to hand me back the key so i had to wait a long time (even though i kept ringing the bell)

Review 40:Compared to other hotels it was cheap, yet the facillities were all good, breakfast was really nice, room had nice view, helpful receptionist.

Review 41:Unfortunatly as like previous reviews the church bells are so loud, but not a great issue whilst on short break

Review 42:Ideal location for city and university. Extremely friendly staff [Raul] Had access to kitchen at all times.

Review 43:Bells from local church start quite early!!!!!

Review 44:Location, manager was friendly and helpful, breakfast buffet and access to tea and coffee nearly all day was great. Rooms are very simple but clean and comfortable. Wifi is free and in all rooms.

Review 45:You are right on the square which is busy unit 4am with pubs and partygoers, too much noise if you would like a peaceful nights sleep. We stayed on a saturday night, so not sure if this applies to every night of the week.

Review 46:Friendly staff. Nice clean room. Excellent breakfast was included.

Review 47:There was nothing I didn't like. Breakfast was a bit limited but OK. And if you're planning a stay in mid September but are not at the Incubate festival then check the dates, the street was lively and full of people and music so it would have probably been pretty annoying staying there if you were in town for some other reason.

Review 48:We were visiting for the annual "Incubate" music festival which takes place for a week in September across numerous venues, many of them on this street and this year one was actually in the hotel basement. As such the hotel was ideal as a base and I can recommend it specifically to festival attendees for this. More generally, we liked the staff and the room, and nice to have a bath as well as shower.

Review 49:Not really

Review 50:- Breakfast included in price - Nightlife just around the corner, however, no hindrance or noise whatsoever.

Review 51:Nice room and nice bathroom The breakfast like

Review 52:it was little expensive and we think that it would be better to become a renovation of the common areas.

Review 53:Great location. Very good breakfast.

Review 54:Great location, view of the square from the room and good choice at breakfast

Review 55:location and value for money

Review 56:bed is too soft and breakfast ends too early

Review 57:staff, location

Review 58:Location right next to church. The bell,s seem to go off every half an hour.

Review 59:Location very good in the center of tilburg

Review 60:Friendly helpful staff

Review 61:The friendliness of the staff and the Central location, nothing was a problem to them, Customer Service was excellent.

Review 62:Heavy noise until 0:00 o'clock. Small beds...

Review 63:Nice room, clean bath, good breakfast and very friendly personal.

Review 64:Noisy and with carpet in the floor not very clean.

Review 65:in the center of Tilburg

Review 66:A bit noisy outside but with closed windows you can comfortably sleep.

Review 67:Nice hotel in a heart of city. Many bars, restaurants and discos around.

Review 68:Too noisy

Review 69:perfect location, reception at midnight.

Review 70:None

Review 71:Good loation

Review 72:It was absolutely impossible to sleep at night due to the noise from the clubs nearby (a disco literally next doors...)

Review 73:Helpful and friendly staff

Review 74:The location in Tilburg is good as it is very close to the bars and restaurants and not too far from the station.

Review 75:the friendly staff, location & breakfast were all excellent

Review 76:Very central and convenient location for transport and entertainment. Comfortable facilities and good breakfast. Good value for money.

Review 77:Location is ideal..

Review 78:There is a club right below it, so it can be quite noisy until late at night.

Review 79:The stuff is very nice, friendly and flexible.

Review 80:Noisy

Review 81:Parking is next to Hotel Mercure. After check-in you can get ticket for 9,50 Euro for 24 hrs from the reception.

Review 82:Dated with lack of basic room facilities. Very noisy at night.

Review 83:Location. Good breakfast.

Review 84:A bit noisy in the night, but it was student week when we were there

Review 85:Great location so close to everything

Review 86:Very noisy and hot in the rooms. Very bad sleep at night. No air condition in the room

Review 87:Location, hospitality, tea coffee available all day long

Review 88:Bedbugs

Review 89:It is in the Center of the City

Review 90:Nothing worth mentioning

Review 91:Location All creature comforts Good breakfast Free newspaper Clean and modern

Review 92:Room was warm (June, facing West) and there was a lot of noise from theterraces in the street in the evening/night.

Review 93:In the very center. Parking was easy at 50 m nearby garage (10 Euro perday). Nice breakfast. Excellent staff support.

Review 94:Couldn't get the wifi working but not interested enough to ask staff to assist or may have been a quick fix.

Review 95:Staff was most hospitable and gave a lot of insight into the area. Also very helpful with several special requests.

Review 96:The wifi was quite slow, otherwise everything was great.

Review 97:The location of the hotel is great. Perfect for visitors of the Roadburn festival. The breakfast was very nice as well.

Review 98:Ventilation/air circulation was a bit low, but not too much of a problem for an April-visit. It probably gets hoter in the room during summer.

Review 99:Very good for visitors to Roadburn festival!

Review 100:Can't think of anything.

Review 101:Liked it all. The staff was always friendly and helpful. The room was great and had a window seat that overlooked the square. The day we left, we were up and gone by 4:45 am. They made us breakfast to go! We will definately stay there again.

Review 102:Really slow WiFi internet.

Review 103:My departure was very early, and I asked receptionist for breakfast to take with me. He prepared it, and thought even about such small thing as spoon for yoghurt! Very good!

Review 104:This hotel may be a good choice if you want to out untill 4 in themorning. It is not a good choice if you are in need of a good sleep. Thehotel is near a bar with incredibly loud music. Also you can hear otherhotelguests clearly. Especially when they come in at 4 in the morning.

Review 105:The breakfast was good; nice pancakes. And very friendly staff.

Review 106:We booked a night in order to attend a concert at the 013 and we appreciated that it was right next door to it, but also close to the parking and on the street with pubs and places to eat. Another plus was that it is close to the central station. Finally, nice selection of breakfast.

Review 107:Super professional and friendly service. I arrived very early, wanting to leave my luggage and maybe use the internet. I was offered free use of the breakfast coffee facilities and was able to check into my room before lunch, no extra charge. Free wifi is fast and stable. Rooms are very comfortable, good lighting for working, temperature easily controlled. As a business traveller early in the week I had no problems with noise from the pubs around the hotel. I imagine later in the week it is better suited to people who expect to be out late. I was very satisfied with my stay in City Hotel Tilburg

Review 108:Very small room, no seating area as pictured in photos of the room. Poorlighting. The presence of religious material in the room is an outdatedand unnecessary touch.

Review 109:Breakfast and location. Church bells were not as loud as expected fromreading other reviews, they didn't wake us once.

Review 110:Can be noisy, from several bars and cafes nearby. Windows had to be kept open because of the hot weather.

Review 111:Central location which met all my needs for the stay.

Review 112:The hotel is located on the main bar street of the city, so it's really busy outside. Personally we didn't mind at all, but if you're staying during the weekend and you don't like noise, ask for a room at the back (I presume there is a back!)

Review 113:Couldn't be more central, the staff are really nice and it almost feels like a cosy B&B.

Review 114:We spent 2 nights in Tilburg.. The weather was extreemly hot... And there was no aircondition in the room!!.. Just a small fan... And my friends' room has no fan... We spent that night as if we were in hell... But what I found out that there is no airconditions in Tilburg in the overall... Even in other hotels or apartments.. As it is cold most of the year.. And this weather was extreem..

Review 115:Location is great great great... Near shopping street... Near cafés and restaurants.. Breakfast is very good.. Staff are very friendly and very helpful...

Review 116:Windows in my room opened onto a shared balcony where other guests wouldsneak a smoke. Directly opposite the grand church bell, that helpfullychimed every half hour. Closed the window & slept well, but I thinkit was not a room for a warm, Sunday morning.

Review 117:Spotlessly clean, well maintained and very friendly & helpful.Comfortable, good breakfast. Would stay here again.

Review 118:There is no air conditioning, and if you leave the windows open for air, there is a very loud chiming Town clock next door which chimes every 15 minutes.

Review 119:The location is very central, and in the midst of some good restaurants

Review 120:The church bells may wake you early, not good if you have been out lateenjoying the delights of the local bars, but at least you wont missbreakfast.

Review 121:This was my 4th Stay at The City Hotel. Says it all really. Room great, breakfast good. Location perfect, 10 minute walk from the station andlocated on bar street. Perfect for meeting our friends from Willem ii

Review 122:Room overlooking square incredibly noisy between midnight & 4am on both Saturday and Sunday nights. Earplugs were not enough to block out thumping bass of clubs, shouts of people down on the street, or roar of streetcleaners. Room rate nearly doubled due to lack of overnight accommodation in Tilburg during internationally-acclaimed events, such as music festivals. Scratchy towels. Squishy mattress. Red curtains did not create a restful atmosphere in room. Minifridge: tucked away in wardrobe & not cold enough to keep salad fresh.

Review 123:Friendly employees. Good breakfast and lovely breakfast room. Renovated bathroom. Cleanliness.

Review 124:I wrote some request about the room on booking.com site when I booked.Straight away, I've got a conformation message from this hotel. So,very taking care and reception staff were helpful. Restaurant, cafe andbar are right outside of the hotel.

Review 125:The Price of Booking.com is the same as the prices published in thehotel lobby for walk-ins.. No discounts on Booking.comNight club loud music heard in the rooms at night

Review 126:Friendly Staff

Review 127:Tilburg is ok as a town, and convenient for much of South Holland, but hardly picturesque..

Review 128:Very comfortable hotel, and friendly staff. Good location by main square, and liveliest street in Tilburg

Review 129:As others said, walls are thin and its noisy, you hear anything out inthe hall and surrounding rooms. Didn't bother me but if you are alight sleeper go elsewhere. No added services, no lobby, no fitness, very limited breakfast (but that's to expect for the cost). Acrossthe road you have the Mercure if you want all the services.

Review 130:Location is excellent. Rooms are big for european city standards, veryclean, comfortable bed. Good price. Internet is decently fast.
