Reviews for Douro Hotel Porto Antigo

Review 1:Bathroom slightly in need of refurbishment but nothing serious

Review 2:Excellent view across the Douro & just a few minutes walk to Ministeiro for trains to Porto, Regua & Pinhao etc.

Review 3:The air condition was not working. - We arrived late for diner - we notified They offered a buffet which was really bad - most of the food was gone - main course cold..

Review 4:Location has a great view - but not easy access

Review 5:The only thing I could really say that I didn't like is that I had a room for a couple however it was such two single beds put together so that is the only one thing I didn't like.

Review 6:Everything was perfect. The staff were amazingly helpful the hotel room was really really clean and the food from the restaurant is absolute masterpiece and I work as a chef myself. Overall the experience was brilliant. I will definitely be travelling there again.

Review 7:The only thing that is not exceptional is breakfast.

Review 8:The location is outstanding and the view from the rooms breathtaking. The staff is very friendly and the diversity of activities offered for free is remarkable. Dinner is also great at the hotel's restaurant.

Review 9:Super hotel right on the river with great views from the bedroom. Helpful staff and good restaurant at very reasonable prices. Ideal base for discovering the area.

Review 10:Lovely hotel in a lovely region, we booked a standard room but since there weren't many guests in the hotel, we probably got upgraded to a room with a nice balcony. The views and the location were gorgeous, and the room had everything we needed, including properly working WiFi. We only wished we stayed longer, to fully enjoy the area and the hotel.

Review 11:Nothing at all to complain about - everything was excellent

Review 12:Everything about this hotel is excellent. Great location on the Douro river with beautiful views of the river & countryside. The staff were superb - charming, friendly and very helpful. Our room was excellent - spacious & comfortable with beautiful views from the large window. The restaurant was excellent & we enjoyed lovely dinners & breakfasts during our 3 day stay. WiFi was very good but only available in the comfortable lounge, bar and dining areas.

Review 13:No table&chair for pc or writing Restaurant average could havefacilities for kayak, fishing, sailing. No good reading light only 1english channel on tv (cnn)

Review 14:Internet in lounge ok good pool area good wine selection in restaurantlocal press and magazines in lounge

Review 15:the only prob was locating the hotel its about 6.7 km out off the village and only signed from the bridge crossing.

Review 16:the situation is special with attentive staff and food a must for anyone touring northern portugal we will be back

Review 17:The area around the pool could be a little bigger.

Review 18:This is hotel is in a beautiful location! The restaurant by the water is great and the food is delicious. The room was very confortable and quiet. The staff was very friendly and the General Manager adds a personal touch to the place. Loved it! Will be back!

Review 19:The management seems very focused on the tangible elements of running a hotel. This reflects in the personnel, who are doing a good job, but aren't showing any interest in the guests. One can tell, that their level of training also differs hugely. Get WIFI in the rooms, it is 2014!

Review 20:Lovely hotel at one of the most beautiful places one can imagine. Marina, swimming pool, restaurant, everything is there.

Review 21:Beautiful location beside Douro. Lovely room. Friendly helpful staff. Excellent breakfast.

Review 22:Location, friendliness of staff & views.

Review 23:friendly efficient staff did everything to please. Wonderful view from bedroom.

Review 28:The hotel's location direct at Douro river! Perfect!

Review 29:Simpatia, sossego e o local magnifico

Review 30:Location

Review 31:breakfast. looked good but e.g. the fruit wasn't ripe and the supposed cappucino was powder.

Review 32:Besides walking, cycling not very much to do in the area.

Review 33:Spectacular view, beautiful area.

Review 34:nothing.

Review 35:the hotel was brilliant, food,,bed, location and staff. and away from everything. brilliant view of the river. peaceful.

Review 36:Isolated

Review 37:The view Great food at dinner Hotel cat

Review 38:We had a very relaxing break even though much rain !

Review 39:Some of the staff not that customer oriented

Review 40:Nice room with balcony an great view to the river; excellent breakfast

Review 41:Lying in my sofa, I can still close my eyes and see the wonder of nature and how these peoples convet that wonder into paradise. Love to visit again. Dr Assim

Review 42:The place, whilst beautiful, is quite difficult to get to by road. Also, whilst very attractive, it is not really possible to visit anywherewithout transport and the roads are not that safe for walking. The foodin the hotel was adequate, without being impressive and the breakfastwas a bit limited. The lack of quality of the food was compensated forby the service provided by the staff.

Review 43:Beautiful location on the river. Nice terrace and sufficient space. There is a small swimming pool, but not warm enough for that at the dateof our stay as it was raining. Our bedroom was spacious and comfortable(although this was a superior room). Staff were all helpful &friendly at all times. Seemed to be a plenty of parking and we wereallowed to park motorcycles in a secure area at no charge. There areplenty of water-based actrivities available,

Review 44:some of the staff seemed very young and with not enough experience, although they were all very nice and helpful. The pool wasn't super clean!

Review 45:The location and the hotel it self. the room was very spatious. the staff was also very nice but some of the staff seemed very young and with no experience. The view from the room was amazing!!!!

Review 46:The road to get there is curvy, you need to take good care driving.

Review 47:It is by the Duro, in a nice location, remote but beautiful place, excellent for relaxing, spa, good food. Friendly attentive staff, very professional.

Review 48:No local restaurants in the area if you like to go out for lunch.

Review 49:Our best Hotel stay in Portugal ever. Fantastic located directly on theriver. Very helpful and professional staff. Restaurant served real goodfood at fair prices. Overall the best way to start our holiday, goodvalue for money. We'll be back.

Review 50:Beautiful and confortable hotel located in a fabulous natural scenario, in the joining of the Bestança River to the Douro. The water mirror surrounded by cliffs is magical.

Review 51:Costly. No other eat outs near by. So you have to have dinner from the Hotel, which is very expensive. Size of the room was small.

Review 52:This is nice small hotel. Great location. River, Mountains and the bridge all around.

Review 53:It was completely empty apart from us, so lacked atmosphere - such a shame because it's a really lovely hotel and location.

Review 54:Wonderful river view Good restaurant Lovely room

Review 55:Admittedly it was low season, but the place was distinctly understaffed. The pool water was cloudy. Main irritation was the intrusive radio in all the public spaces - even relayed out to the deck.

Review 56:Room was very nice; beautiful location with fantastic views; good restaurant (needs to be - there's nowhere else to eat nearby).

Review 57:Breakfast was very average for a 4* Hotel and cold coffee most mornings. Did expect a hotel with it's own little marina would have it's own boat or at least access to one. A ski or two would of made the stay perfect.

Review 58:Location was amazing, staff were helpful and polite.

Review 59:Breakfast aside the food was adequate.

Review 60:The location is stunning. Views over the river are beautiful. Staff werefriendly and helpful. Rooms were excellent; clean, comfortable and agenerous size. We stayed out of season and were probably the only guests(never saw anyone else) so it is impossible to say if our experience istypical, but we would not hesitate to return, although I suspect we didnot pay usual rates! A good breakfast table.

Review 61:Fantastic place with good wiew.

Review 62:Not convenient for river cruise embarcations (Regua is ideal though not as picturesque)

Review 63:Friendly staff, beautiful views

Review 64:Nada a apontar.

Review 65:Gostei de absolutamente tudo!!

Review 66:A comfortable room for little money. The setting is lovely, atthe riverside. The hotel has a restaurant so you don't haveto go anywhere.

Review 67:lovely hotel beautifull location on the Duro river

Review 68:It was o.k., the best was the Duoro.

Review 69:We had fantastik stay.

Review 70:Simply everything! Stunning location. Marvelous staff. We watched an otter, from our balcony!

Review 71:the stunning location at the Douro river and the price/quality.
