Reviews for Hotel Parador Santa Catarina
Review 1:The pool was dirty and not cleaned during our 3 days stay
Review 2:Miranda is a remote and interesting place. The view to the river from the room balcony and restaurant is second to none.
Review 3:The swimming pool which features in all the advertising for this hotel was not open to hotel guests. Seems a ridiculous decision in the height of summer when the hotel was no fully booked.
Review 4:Great location overlooking the Douro River and Spain. Spacious room with private balcony. Good public lounge, bar and restaurant with balconies and great views. On site parking.
Review 5:Outdated,dingy room, not changed since 2012. Same menu as in 2012. Overpriced, poor quality food. Wifi slow and unreliable. Only Portuguese channels on TV. Two mornings breakfast had to ask for food refilled, hot food container empty. Buffet food left uncovered with flies around. Stayed several times over the last eight years, sad to see its slow decline to its current state. Not be returning.
Review 6:The balcony, the view
Review 7:the bed was very hard, and the bedside light was too poor for reading.
Review 8:The restaurant had fantastic veal steaks for a very reasonable price. Good wine too. The view of the gorge from our balcony as well as from the bar was breathtaking.
Review 9:No wifi in room.
Review 10:Dinner ok - illuminated view of church, better. Breakfast good - morning sun on hills and water even better. Don't mind dated furniture, we are dated guests. SPECIAL OFFER PRICE
Review 11:wifi was very inconsistent
Review 12:Beautiful view of gorge from balcony. Older hotel but comfortable room and lobby areas with fireplace, nice in winter when we visited.
Review 13:Bad signage to find hotel
Review 14:Nothing
Review 15:Food was very good. Walking distance to anywhere in town
Review 16:Access to pool.
Review 17:View from the bar and our room was fabulous.

Review 19:Excellent dinner!
Review 20:The view from the room.
Review 23:Good location, friendly helpful staff a nice comfortable stay we would recommend this hotel.
Review 24:Pool not very clean.
Review 25:Toilet tank didn't refill properly, room slightly shabby
Review 26:View of gorge from balcony, easy parking, large room, good price, convienient to town
Review 27:Location and cleanliness.
Review 28:The location. The town of Miranda is fantastic and just a few minutes walk away. the hotel overlooks the valley of the Douro and Spain on the far bank.
Review 29:The WiFi was not working properly (could not connect to the web) although the coverage was good in the rooms upstairs.
Review 30:The view over the Miranda do Douro dam and the stony Douro cliffs is breath taking. The hotel by itself is a mid 20th century (Estado Novo) Portuguese architecture landmark.
Review 31:although the search i made was for hotels with swimming pools and the hotel has a picture of a swimming pool it is not open to guests. On our first day we were allowed a quick dip as a special favour!!! the hotel had a wedding next to the pool and it was reserved for them!!! in the middle of a very hot august it was not what we were expecting and thankfully we had made our trip shorter at this hotel. We asked at the hotel for any swimming pools near and were told the town had one (we found it and it was also not open only the indoor pool) awful disappointment. thankfully we found going back over the border to spain in a village not far was an excellent pool but with no help in this search from the hotel. we found the owner sarcastic and most of the other staff surly. If you dont want people to use your pool then dont have a photo on your advert for your hotel. Will not reccommend the hotel and will definitely not go back. however saying that we will go back to miranda as it is great value and has some great restaurants.
Review 32:The view is spectacular from the hotel over the gorge although dont look directly below as it looks like a dump. The breakfast was good although we were pushed into a smaller room the second day due to a baptism being held at hotel. central location for restaurants which are all amazing value (we didnt try the hotel). shopping on sunday in some shops and the supermarket on outskirts of town.
Review 33:A small place with not a lot of staff, but a very dedicated one. The same guy was working at the reception, the bar and the restaurant and did an outstanding job in servicing our needs. No wonder he has been working there for the last 28 years. Thanks for the great service!
Review 34:Only one elderly staff member at reception, serving meals etc etc. He spoke no English and made no attempt whatsoever to try communication. The whole place was dire, and unwelcoming. Wifi would not work and no-one made any attempt to explain why or showed any concern. To top it all - they charged us twice and have no yet answered our query on the matter
Review 35:Location was good and easy to find. Other than that, very little
Review 36:Indifferent reception staff, Room 1 suite decor, furniture post secondworld war utility - appalling, suite sitting room one tired sofa facinga single bed like a prison cell, tv stopped working, light bulb missing,no info in room, safe unusable no instruct- ions, more expensive thanluxury Trujillo parador, should be ashamed to call this a parador, morelike a tired family hotel worth no more than 45 euros a night!! Receiptprinted on back of full analysis of full Parador takings for 24/25/2013 February - management should be sacked.
Review 37:View from balcony
Review 38:Slamming spring-loaded doors, poor quality TV, lack of brochure detailing hotel services
Review 39:View, spaciousness, comfort, breakfasts, potplants, friendly atmosphere
Review 40:We had lovely sunny weather but there really wasn't anywhere to sit in the sun in the afternoon. There seemed to be a swimming pool at the side of the hotel but when I inquired about its use it didn't seem to be available to guests. Such a shame, as the use of a pool would probably have encouraged us to stay longer.
Review 41:We have stayed here before and have always loved the location of this hotel. Miranda Do Douro is a beautiful town and the views from the hotel are spectacular. The bedroom is very comfortable as are all the public areas. We will definitely be returning. Excellent value for money.
Review 42:Nothing to complain about at all.
Review 43:This is a 'pousada' so the standards are high. The view from the room of the Douro River Canyon is fantastic. The meals are wonderful too. Cold buffet breakfast of the usual meats, cheeses, rolls etc. The dinners were excellent. This hotel is reasonably priced. Very inexpensive for the service ands food that you get.
Review 44:No English speaking staff, the room, especially the bathroom, needs somerenovation. All in all overpriced.
Review 45:A nice hotel, close to the heart of Miranda do Douro. Great view of theDouro river.
Review 46:The views, cleanliness, the staff, the food, the room, everything about the hotel was very good.
Review 47:The amazing view from the rooms, walking distance to the center of town.
