Reviews for Quinta Santo Antonio Da Serra
Review 1:A very beautiful setting in a very comfortable building and all for a very reasonable price. Staff very attentive and they all made us feel most welcome
Review 2:Paulo was absolutely terrific. The apartment I had was super clean, great value, had a fireplace and great location. Grounds are lovely and within walking of some fabulous restaurants.
Review 3:No name displayed at the entrance to the estate. No one to meet us when we arrived. Eventually I found a gardener who couldn't understand English, but he phoned the manager for us. Couches in lounge had large holes in them. Bed very uncomfortable. Not a single shelf in the bathroom to store toiletries.
Review 4:When we met the manager eventually, he was helpful. Nicely equipped kitchen. Beautiful gardens. Resort situated in a very interesting, small village.
Review 5:Just a couple of v minor things. The directions are correct but there is no sign on the gateway and its not obvious at all (as there are lots of similar gateways)so we spent half an hour driving round - I would suggest putting a sign up and eventually ringing for directions. There is a small store to buy things in the village which is OK for one night. Finding a larger store takes some doing - 15 min drive and then some looking around. Would be good to have some information in the apartments telling you where useful things are e.g. supermarkets, bakers, opening times etc
Review 6:Location, cleanliness, layout of apartments. We got upgraded to a 2 bed from a 1 bed gratis. Paulo the manager called in a few times to check everything was going well. Wood stove, which was nice as it rained a lot. Apartments got cleaned 3/4 times in the week we were there. WiFi worked straight away no problem
Review 7:Wonderful week, very peaceful, fortunate to have an end apartment which gave me the privacy I preferred. I was met on my late arrival, with a cosy log burning stove lit. I managed very well without a car, relying on the the local bus service. A car would be recommended for seeing more of Madeira.
Review 8:There was nothing that we can think of.
Review 9:The service and accommodation were lovely and Paulo and Christina couldn't have been more helpful or welcoming. Nothing was to much trouble from booking until the moment we left. The location is perfect for a relaxing retreat away from the tourist centre but close enough to enjoy all this extraordinary island has to offer.
Review 10:Temperature was cooler than I expected.
Review 11:Felt like being in a village in Central Europe / historical Hungary-Transylvania: mountains, chilly, smog, horses, cows etc... Friendly people all around.
Review 12:As other reviewers already pointed out, the place is hard to find. Another minor but unlucky circumstance was that despite of being a young couple we had to accomodate ourselves to separate beds. Aside from these nothing on the con side, really.
Review 13:It is a very peaceful place with a beautiful and well organized garden. The staff / owner is really helpful and flexible. The airport is really close: 15-20 mins by car. There is market, restaurants, petrol station in the close neighbourhood. My vote of 5: try this place and experience the unfogettable that Madeira has to offer to you!
Review 14:The wheather in this region was sometimes cloudy, due to the circumstances that this house in situated in the mountains. For us it didn t matter because we were only in the evening at home.
Review 15:The housekeeping service was very good.In every time when something was missing, we got it. The house was situated in a good position for walking tours. In the evening it was calm and quiet. The house was cleaned nearly every day. You have 2 beaches , 20 minutes to drive by car.
Review 16:Nothing
Review 17:Santo da Serra is a nice and quiet village, very well located if you wish to explore the north and east of Madeira. Funchal is a smooth 45 min drive. The garden of the Quinta is superb, vast, full of flowers and very peaceful. The flats are roomy, confortable and very well equiped. We were welcomed by the owner, a very friendly person talking fluent French. We highly recommend this place !
Review 18:Heat pump unit next to our apartment. Was a bit noisy.
Review 19:Beautiful gardens around the apartment. Close to town .
Review 20:The place has both heating and a fire place - needed in the winter (we were here a week before christmas). Very clean in a nice village.
Review 21:the whole stay was amazing with the fresh air and very peaceful settings.
Review 22:Great situation, set in extensive gardens, quiet, close to village with restaurants and basic facilities.
Review 23:the mattress
Review 24:Nice little houses. good location.
Review 25:The mosquitos, some where in the bedroom at night.
Review 26:Great place overall.
Review 27:Wood fire Friendly staff
Review 28:Mosquitoes (a lot of them, even though we kept our doors and windows closed)
Review 29:Everything
Review 30:Lovely peaceful spot, good location for touring and walking. Smart comfortable accommodation with a communal garden at the front. The landlord was very helpful and friendly.
Review 31:Nothing...
Review 32:Quinta Santo Antonio da Serra is a beautiful property. The room really was a comfortable little appartment, with fully equipped kitchen, welcoming living room with fireplace, and outdoor terrace.
Review 33:Beds were uncomfortable: old-fashioned spring mattresses with pressure points. The place was very difficult to find: no address in the booking, and no sign at the entrance other than a small tile plate that you wouldn't notice while driving past. Moreover, once we were on the grounds, nobody was there to assist us, and there was no sign for a reception or any instructions. We had to make a phone call to find out what to do (we were told which unit to look for and that the key is on the door), and then still had to wait for another 50 min. before someone actually showed up (he apologized for this delay). This experience was disappointing as we had indicated the timeframe of our arrival in advance.
Review 34:Lovely accommodation, one of the best we've stayed at during our two weeks in Madeira. Cozy and comfortable (except for the beds, see below), well-equipped kitchen, spacious. Good fireplace in living room with wood provided, beautiful garden around, patio in front of each chalet. Agent were helpful (once he arrived) and friendly.
Review 35:Difficult to find as there is no 'hotel' sign and only a small tiled name plate on the gate. Also it would have been helpful to have the full address, including road name.
Review 36:Comfortable, roomy, well equipped and near well stocked shops.
Review 37:Beautiful surroundings, very well supplied cottage, cozy and we were allowed to stay longer on our last day, since it wasn´t going to be occupied on that day.
Review 38:Only 1 minute drive or 15 minutes walking from Santo da Serra golf course, these cottages are really comfortable and relaxing! We've played golf all day long and then spent a memorable evening relaxing at the garden patio of our cottage. Definitely a place we wish to visit again!
Review 39:We've been staying around Madeira and chose this Quinta to spend the last night before coming back home, as it was close to the airport. What a pitty we only had one night left! We loved this place and if we ever come back to Madeira we will spend a whole week here! The atmosphere of tranquility and peacefulness is the best feature of this estate!
Review 40:Such an inviting place with beautiful gardens and cozy cottages! The evening was spent reading a book and drinking a glass of wine next to the fireplace and the morning was to sunbathe on the garden surrounded by singing birds... A relaxed and invigorating stay! Next time we'll stay longer!
Review 41:Had to pay in cash everywhere in Madeira, including the Quinta! It could be difficult if traveller not aware.
Review 42:We went for golf and walking. good on both counts. Village supplied all we required. Everyone helpful and friendly. Quinta staff very helpful. lovely gardens. Facilities fine for us. Plenty of hot water at all times. Good central heating also log fire.10/10
Review 43:Really rather small and out of date. No washing machine or dishwasher, no internet, very basic equipment. The village also has only very basic amenities
Review 44:Tremendously helpful owner and staff. ample logs for wood fire, convenient for eastern end of the island and handy for the airport.
Review 45:We should have booked for longer. The weather improved after we left.
Review 46:We loved it
Review 47:Nothing.
Review 48:A very nice place, quiet and nice surrounding. Very comfortable apartments, well equipped and efficient staff.
Review 49:The clouds can descend upon it.
Review 50:Spacious grounds and very friendly owner who was very helpful.
