Reviews for Toll Road Inn

Review 1:The rooms were big and kept very clean. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. It is a slightly older motel if you look at the general decor, but everything important for a good night sleep, like bedding, pillows felt new, comfortable and impeccably clean. The breakfast room had fire in the fireplace in the evening when we sat there with friends, as well in the morning during breakfast hours.

Review 2:Nothing was bad. Everything was good. Only the views were exceptional.

Review 3:Located conveniently between the town and the Appalacian Trail/Long Trail parking & hiking area. Very 1960, but we'll cared for & beautiful views out the giant room Windows. Pleanty of room for a ski group to dress or hiking gear. Interesting groups of people in their 80s who were obviously making an annual pilgramage.

Review 4:The breakfast was a bit bland.

Review 5:The view from the window was beautiful! The room was spacious and comfortable. Our hostess was very friendly and welcoming.

Review 6:We liked it all. Don't expect a full breakfast but there is toast and coffee and juice and cereal, muffins. And you do not often get anything in a motel so this is a plus.

Review 7:The lady who runs the motel is a peach. She seemed so happy to welcome us and gave us direction, suggestions and was just the type of person you were happy to know. The rooms are spacious, facing the forest and a lovely brook. It is an older, a bit dated property but for the money is a gem. Comfy beds and warm hosts.

Review 8:Breakfast was ok, would have liked to see more options like yogurt, hard boiled eggs.

Review 9:The inn is located a little out of Manchester, in a very scenic area. All the rooms are facing the woods and the creek running in the backyard. The rooms are very clean and spacious. Maria - the owner - was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast area is a nice addition to the inn, a gorgeous room with a fireplace.

Review 10:The room was really large and comfortable. Slept like a log and it was very quiet. There is a nice field in the back with a creek and in the fall the colors in the trees are remarkable. The owners are from Poland. They are very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was included and plentiful. Will come back for sure.

Review 11:Complimentary breakfast was a bit lacking, especially since we had a full day planned; we ended up still going out to find another morning meal.

Review 12:Overall, it was a good location. Our room was spacious and clean. Staff was courteous and accommodating; we had a late night arrival, and the owner stayed up to check us in personally.

Review 13:Unfortunately the breakfast offering was disappointing. Everything seemed to be done on the cheap. Even the bagels were the smallest we've seen.

Review 14:Huge room with 2 massive double beds. Lovely outlook to river and garden. TV options best on our 2 week trip. Didn't use outside pool and tub but looked appealing.

Review 15:The limited choice at breakfast and the polystyrene cups, bowls and plastic cutlery.

Review 16:The very spacious and clean bedroom with a beautiful view from the window onto the rear garden. The hotel owner was very pleasant and helpful throughout.

Review 17:Great location, clean room, very welcoming staff who provided information on activities. Decor is dated but clean, over-sized room with beautiful view of wooded area and brook. Will stay here again.

Review 18:The walls were thin so you could hear people next door and the floor above.

Review 19:Property was beautiful with a private backyard area with a creek running through it. The rooms all overlooked this area so there was very little outside or traffic noise. The rooms were nice and large.

Review 20:Very spacious rooms, very friendly and accomodating owners, very clean and up-dated. There is a lovely back area overlooking a brook set up with tables and chairs. We had a very enjoyable time.

Review 21:Our spacious room was exceptionally clean and had a delightful view of a stream with a mountain backdrop. Our welcome was superb with great recommendations for eating, shopping and sightseeing. Manchester is a lovely little place with some great Outlets for shopping. Our only regret was that did not book to stay longer.

Review 22:Following a low-carb diet, the breakfast was inappropriate for our needs. However, a diner was just across the street which met our needs perfectly!

Review 23:The location was great for our one night stay.

Review 24:the ad boasted the pool, which was great and clean. But, it also stated that you could sit out back by the beautiful scenic river setting. It should have read, you can collect nice rocks in the dry creek bed!!! And the room had a slight musty smell.

Review 25:the room was large enough to be comfortable and in general, was very clean, although outdated.

Review 26:the breakfast could be better. plastic dishes is a no go.

Review 27:great place in a very nice village and scenery. the rooms are very big and super cos. very nice garden and pool.

Review 28:The shower was a bit weak.

Review 29:Warm hospitality from the get go. Large sized rooms. Ample parking, Nice views. Very cozy and airy place... continental breakfast had good choice items,

Review 30:We had an issue with the hot tub and the owner yelled at us for not shutting the lid due he had to "pay for the electricity". There were other guests in the hot tub and he was very rude to them as well. Breakfast was marginal.

Review 31:great gardens, very close to town.

Review 32:However when using the jacuzzi, fully understanding the rules that had been explained to us, we stayed in for around half an hour and then got talking to a couple who were sat round the pool area. We had at this point already offered to rotate so they use could it. At this time, they said no as they were just finishing their drinks. The male manager then came out and specifically stated to my friend to get out, and let the other guests have a turn. Shortly following this, we got out so the other couple could get in, hence why we didn't close the lid - not wanting to be rude to the couple. As the transition was occurring we struck up a conversation about both of our travels. We were out of the jacuzzi approximately 15 minutes and the other couple were just about to go in, when the manager came out and said 'I told you to turn it off and cover it up when you got out, I pay a lot for this' in a very abrupt and rude tone as he slammed the lid shut and turned off the jacuzzi.

Review 33:My friend and I weren't sure what to expect when we booked the Toll Road Inn. We were pleased when we checked in. The lady who checked us in was helpful and friendly. Our room was spacious and we had a view of the gardens. Another pleasant surprise was the pool and jacuzzi. Nice motel, but manners cost nothing! The rooms do! Maybe the male manager should bare this in mind when speaking to guests. He could have made his point in an entirely different way instead of reprimanding 4 paying customers! During breakfast and check out the female manager was again friendly, helpful and chatty.

Review 34:Breakfast is not exciting.

Review 35:The hosts were extremely kind, helpful and making sure we would enjoy ourselves. We got great tips about things to do, interesting for Europeans. The room was spacious and clean and so was the bathroom. The property has a pool, an outside whirlpool and a nice garden to chill out.

Review 36:A few colorful choices could be added to the very simple continental breakfast of toast and cold cereal.

Review 37:All the charm and personalization of a bed and breakfast! The owner was super welcoming and happy to share her knowledge and love for the area. Room was spotless. A lovely brook runs alongside the back of the property- soothing and relaxing all around!

Review 38:Lovely staff. Really liked the woman who registered us. Very thoughtful. While having breakfast she inquired to make sure my whole party had been taken care of for breakfast. Charming place

Review 39:Everything was super!

Review 40:Charming, spacious, and spotlessly clean room with a very comfy bed and very attractive decor. The views of the river were beautiful.

Review 41:The warmest of welcomes from the owner who was helpful about the area got us tickets for Hildene (Lincoln home) at almost half price. Inn is quaint/vintage in furnishings and spotlessly clean. Loved it!

Review 42:The breakfast is adequate. A little more variety would be an improvement.

Review 43:Maria the owner was very nice and helpful. The hotel grounds are beautiful. The hotel has been well maintained.

Review 44:The manager/Owner? was very pleasant and extremely helpful. I truely got the sense that it was important to her that you enjoyed your stay. She explained in detail what to do and how to get there. It is very important to me that the place is clean. This property was spotless and the room was large and very comfortable. All I can say is that I will be coming back here soon.

Review 45:Everything was old and outdated. The beds were uncomfortable and the "continental breakfast" was toast and coffee, no thanks. It was too pricy for its value. Felt like it should have cost $60, not over $100.

Review 46:the owners were nice and quick to attempt to address any issues

Review 47:Large room on 2nd floor facing the back of the property, nice big window overlooking a stream. Very quiet. Bed was good. Bath was updated, nice towels. Very friendly owner.

Review 48:The room was very large and everything was immaculately clean. The view from the large picture window was beautiful - a small country stream with mountains rising in the background.

Review 49:The continental breakfast was very limited.

Review 50:Very friendly and helpful owners. Great location and excellent value for price. The lounge/ eating room is terrific with the large fireplace in the middle.

Review 51:cold in hallways smoke smell like smokehouse when we told them we need to check out earlier because of emergency the owner rolled her eyes & said "we don't offer raincheck"

Review 52:bed was comfortable

Review 53:none

Review 54:Very big rooms, late 50's early 60's architecture. Great main room with a fireplace. Hot tub very clean and worked well. Close to Stratton Resort.

Review 55:Outdated decor, small towels

Review 56:Attentive and friendly host. Continental breakfast was superior to that of chains. Very large rooms. Quiet, with rooms overlooking forest and stream.

Review 57:very old coffee maker; better bring your own bathroom supplies

Review 58:excellent location, great view, stylishly decorated rooms, comfortable beds, extremely friendly and helpful staff

Review 59:The price was a bit expansive. The walls are thin so we had some noise from the room above us but during the night is was quite. The WiFi didn't work well, it was slow and sometimes we couldn't connect at all.

Review 60:We stayed 2 nights. The Inn is located on the river with nice a view to the woods. The owners are lovely people, very hospitalize. They helped us get by in this beautiful town and recommended about good restaurants and nice hiking track. The Inn has Jacuzzi outside which was fun to dip in at the evening, the room is clean and the bed is very comfortable. Overall - we very recommend this place!

Review 61:I didn't DISlike anything, but it looked so deserted we thought it was closed, and the decor is very 1950s and faded! But it was comfortable and nice, so it doesn't matter.

Review 62:Huge room with lovely view over creek; comfortable bed; lovely lady owner

Review 63:The only real problems that we had was the walls were very thin.. We could hear everything and early morning guests stood outside our ro loudly talking.. We also found that it was a bit pricey.. For 150. a night I would expect quiet rooms with possibly a whirlpool tub or movie channels

Review 64:Extremely clean room and bathroom! Great hot water.. The owner was so nice and walked us out.

Review 65:First thing you see before getting out of car is a sign telling you how to park . Hostess vacillated between curtness and overly solicitous . Room was fine. Heard other guest ask if they could use f /p in their rp, she said only winter ? It was October and cold and there was plenty of firewood piled up. Won't stay there again.

Review 66:The TV channel sheet was hard to match up with national channels we are familiar with. We had a room with two double beds and it was hard to walk/reach around to the closet and refrigerator/microwave area. Not quite enough floor space but there was a comfortable chair in the same little nook.

Review 67:Our room was on street level, no stairs. Our room was clean and very comfortable. The staff was very informative and helpful. I liked getting a request for a review by email when I got home. I rarely do reviews but you made it so easy to do that I wanted to do this for your business. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Review 68:Plastic bowls/plates/cutlery and cups at breakfast.

Review 69:Our room was large and comfortable. While not in the town it was near enough to drive for meals, and in the heart of beautiful countryside.

Review 70:Bedspread was rather worn but nothing major

Review 71:Very spacious room with lovely view from window, proprietress gave great suggestions for dining and places to visit in the area,

Review 72:Facility was a bit aged but no complaints, everything worked great and was very well kept. If you are looking for luxery, go elsewhere, but if you want a comfortable place to stay with all the basics for your next vermont trip, try to toll road.

Review 73:We stayed at the Inn for four days and it was absolutely wonderful. A very reasonable rate, perfect central location near Manchester and clean spacious rooms. The inn keepers Richard and Maria were great and extremely accommodating. They recommended many great things to do and were very welcoming. The inn is right across the street from an awesome diner too- be sure to check out bob's!

Review 74:Continental breakfast was a bit limited, but overall not bad.

Review 75:Maria (one of the owners) was great! Cute and quaint room. My favourite part was the gorgeous view out of my window looking out on nature! It was so peaceful I actually spent part of one morning sitting out there and did some yoga and meditation. I would stay here again just for that.

Review 76:The inn was a little way out of the central part of town, so we drove in to eat dinner and visit the shops. Since I walk in the mornings, I had to drive into town because the inn is on a very busy road. (Not really a huge inconvenience since the drive is not that far.)

Review 77:The view from the window was beautiful--very peaceful. The room was very clean and large. The owner was very friendly. There is a beautiful, large pool and hot tub.

Review 78:The inn needs some updates, the place is over priced.Breakfast was included we just did not choose to eat, just was not appetizing.Felt there should be information on local restaurants and activities. We asked owner about restaurant if food was good the response was they would not be in business if it was bad and that is not a true statement.

Review 79:Separate vanity area,WiFi,Direct TV and grounds well kept, pool looked maintained but did not use it.It was close to to where I needed to be and local businesses with that said it is centrally located.

Review 80:A bit old; needs an update. Hallways are musty. Cost is a bit high for this facility.

Review 81:Comfortable bed; very welcoming staff; quiet; great outdoor area by brook. Nice outdoor pool. Comfortable feeling. Large room. Good bathroom/shower.

Review 82:All the rooms faced the brook and mountains. The proprietors are very friendly and take excellent care of the property. The flower beds and Adirondack chairs make for a very inviting and relaxing outdoors sitting area. While the rooms felt a bit dated (built in 1968) they were large, clean and very comfortable. The continental breakfast offered nice choices. For those travelers who may wish for a more substantial breakfast, Bob's diner across the room is a good choice.

Review 83:Hotel a little too far from centre of Manchester to be walkable (and it would be dangerous to try to walk it - very busy road with no pavement). Quite limited choices at breakfast

Review 84:Friendly and helpful hosts. Very pretty gardens (saw a humming bird)and view of river behind hotel. Rooms clean, comfortable and quiet. Excellent hiking into Green Mountains from behind Equinox Hotel in Manchester. Manchester has several good shopping outlets and restaurants.

Review 85:Beautiful grounds, rooms in the rear with view, secure, fabulous water pressure in the shower. Sat by the brook in the back yard and swam in the cleanest pool. Thank you, Toll Road Inn!

Review 86:Our being on the first floor, which was good for us because of no stairs, but only drawback was a little noisy above us. We heard a lot of little foot steps running back and forth..

Review 87:The staff was very friendly and also helpful with directions. The rooms were large and immaculate. The room overlooked a back yard filled with beautiful flowers which were down by the river. Chairs were placed around for all to enjoy the peacefulness.

Review 88:Not a thing. It was perfect.

Review 89:It was the cleanest motel my wife and I have ever visited in Vermont. The hosts were pleasant, the grounds were nicely kept.

Review 90:The Toll Road Inn was very quaint, grounds were well maintained, enjoyed sitting by the creek in the backyard and cooling off in the pool. Owners could not have been more accomodating or gracious. We would return and highly recommend the Inn.

Review 91:Breakfast was very poor. We though that since the nice folks who run theInn were European that there would be a better breakfast with freshfruit and baked goods, that sort of thing. We just got back from the uk.All those English breakfasts were excellent.

Review 92:Room was spacious and everything was clean and well cared for; locationnear town was very good,; nice back yard area with gardens; verypleasant staff (owners).

Review 93:Owners, Maria and Richard, were very friendly and helpful. Room was large and well decorated. Bathroom was clean and bright. Pool was clean and well kept. Breakfast was more than adequate. Great value.

Review 94:Mattress was soft

Review 95:Room was nice, large & clean as was the bathroom. We had a beautiful view overlooking grounds with perennial flower beds & a babbling brook. The owners were ver friendly.

Review 96:nothing

Review 97:The very comfortable, safe feeling. The setting and overall feeling at home was great. The owners friendliness and concern for our satisfaction and needs was way over and above

Review 98:The only thing I didn't like was when I entered the room, it smelled like a dog or cat had been in the room.

Review 99:The room was very large and comfortable. The setting is beautiful.

Review 100:Not your average motel.. Room was very large and decorated in a old Europe style. The grounds were beautiful and the owner try's to make your stay pleasant. She makes fresh muffins for the breakfast bar!

Review 101:Everything

Review 102:Our room was very clean and comfortable. I believe it was the owner that checked us in, she was extremely nice and very helpful.

Review 103:friendly staff, good location, cleanliness

Review 104:Almost nothing is open in the area after 9 p.m. for food or activities

Review 105:Impeccably clean and very friendly and helpful staff

Review 106:Very homely - lobby/dining area are quaint and nice.

Review 107:Simple breakfast.

Review 108:Very spacious, clean room with comfortable beds. Beautiful view from the window. Intimate service.

Review 109:We had a great long weekend. The Inn was very conveniently located and super clean.

Review 110:The mixture of modern and old....and the pretty view in the back

Review 111:Very basic continental breakfast. Place could use a bit of a facelift.

Review 112:Good location, several restaurants nearby. Large room, facilities good

Review 113:Attractive Inn and gardens with excellent staff. Room of good size and well equipped. Plenty of good eateries nearby. Wished we had stayed longer.

Review 114:The rooms and the facility are a little tired

Review 115:The owners could not have been more helpful and gracious.

Review 116:No vegetarian food

Review 117:The location was beautiful ... Enjoyed ...thank u so much

Review 118:Beautiful garden and friendly staff

Review 119:Location close to Manchester. Very friendly hosts ( owners). Right on highway but never heard any traffic,

Review 123:Very nice stay.
