Reviews for Hotel D. Luis - Elvas

Review 1:The location just outside the city walls was perfect. It was within a comfortable walking distance of much that we wanted to see and a good restaurant.

Review 2:I don't write reviews often, but this one really struck me: - Smell in the room like a sewer - Unfriendly staff, disintrest and they did not seem to like their jobs - Noisy rooms, you can hear everything of everybody below and above you. - Extremely Small rooms small beds for two persons - There is a coffee machine that servers cappuccino except they did not want to switch it on.

Review 3:The location of the hotel

Review 4:Rooms look a little tired and dowdy. Breakfast was poor. For a large group the way it was organized lacked any thought. Coffee could be improved as could fresh fruit selection.

Review 5:Location by aquaducts and a short walk to centre of historical town.

Review 6:The rooms don't isolate the noise that well. We could hear people talking loud in the corridors.

Review 7:It's very well located and have a free parking just opposite the road.

Review 8:Hotel undergoing refurbishment, redecorating etc. Dining room facilities not available except for breakfast. Swimming pool dirty and not healthy.

Review 9:Near roman ruins: next door to a Supermercado

Review 10:Hotel was undergoing renovation, so bar and restaurant was closed (but breakfast was served and was epic). Pool was cold and looked neglected, dirty. We had planned to swim but didn't.

Review 11:We took a one week fly-drive vacation, to tour some of the battlefields of Peninsular War of 1808-1814. We did 1800km, seven hotels. All were fine, different to each other but comfortable and good value. This one is in the fabulous town of Elvas, right by the aquaduct. It was clean, bright, quiet, comfortable, good breakfast. Staff recommended route to a local restaurant, wheret food and atmosphere was great - and fair prices! Good supermarket next door at fuel station, where we bought wine. Hotel staff kept our drinks chilled and supplied glasses for free.

Review 12:Virtually no staff on duty, bar closed and an air of emptiness. Even getting a cup of coffee was a trip to reception!

Review 13:Ease of access, comfortable bed, good shower

Review 14:Nothing that we didn't like.

Review 15:Good location facing the historical aqueduct and within walking distance to the centre of town.Friendly staff, very clean and comfortable, good breakfast and good value for money.

Review 16:There were some reform works going on but they seemed to have screened this off ok although they could have vacuumed the dust on the stairs. Wifi only in reception which is disappointing these days but it did function ok

Review 17:I have nothing but praise for this little hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was great and the included breakfast perfectly acceptable for the price we paid. The pool was fine for a hotel of this size.It was well situated, being 10 minutes walk from the centre. It is a bit of a struggle up the hill for the less fit but a taxi cost only €3.25.The restaurant they recommended for the evening was great and I will review that separately.

Review 18:shower - no door, floor gets wet easily basic accomodation

Review 19:location parking available right ion front of hotel good wi-fi in room breakfast

Review 20:Bit of walk to town up hill. Bar closed. Restaurant only did breakfast.

Review 22:The staff were extremely helpful and the rooms and facilities comfortable

Review 23:Convenient location, great facility, good breakfast

Review 24:Right next to major road.

Review 25:Nice view on Elvas aqueduct

Review 26:The room was very noise due to the people in the next room and small children the hotel was not expecting. Very mediocre breakfast.

Review 27:We love area

Review 28:Nothing

Review 29:Fine breakfast, quiet clean rooms, very helpful friendly staff and great location.

Review 30:Pillows were too hard, woke up with stiff neck.

Review 31:Refurbished rooms look mordern and clean. Breakfast is tasty.

Review 32:Wifi was iffy.

Review 33:Loved the view of the aqueduct right outside our window, breakfast was delicious, staff were very friendly.

Review 34:No Wifi signal in the room, few channels on TV, bed could be more confortable

Review 35:View to the aqueduct, reasonable price, nice breakfast room

Review 36:location from Spain

Review 37:in general good

Review 38:The old stained carpets in the room and in the breakfast area.

Review 39:The hotel is close to the old city center.

Review 40:Location close to the old town Free parking Good breakfast

Review 41:The location is not in the city center. If you go by bus, the main thing to notice it at the entrance to the city - it's 10-15 minutes by foot from the bus station.

Review 42:Отличный вид окна - прямо на акведук. Особенно красиво ночью. Великолепный завтрак (шведский стол). Есть еще бассейн, но в марте мы им не пользовались :) Great view from window - right on the aqueduct. Especially beautiful at night. Excellent breakfast (buffet). There is a pool, but in March we did not use them :)

Review 43:At first sight the hotel is grandiose, but many small things in the hotel were not anymore as they probably once had been. Damaged carpets, doors which would not close properly. Swimming pool was not entirely clean. Slippery. The female reception staff was very helpful, but the male reception person ignored my wife. Smoking and talking on the terrace forced us to keep the window of the room closed.

Review 44:Location! I loved to look at the aqueduct at a mere 20 meters from the reception area. Absolutely impressive. The hotel is at the foot of the road leading up to the old fortress town, a ten-minute climb. Prices are cheap. Very close to restaurant Tiftaf which we recommend.

Review 45:Restaurant and bar closed. Alternative mini-mall located next to hotel which was modern and clean.

Review 46:Decor was outstanding in public areas. Bedrooms basic for its class. Breakfast was very good, croissants wonderful.

Review 47:Its a great pity that there are no tea or coffee making facilities in the room and no evening meals

Review 48:It was a very quiet hotel and indeed the bar only open if you requested it. There were no evening meals, which was a shame, never-the-less the buffet breakfast was really fab and plenty to eat.

Review 49:No English T.v movie channel, pool not ready to use, door locked -hadleaves in and pigeons around it with no seating on a nice sunny day.

Review 50:Friendly staff, good breakfast. Good value stay.

Review 51:-Prominent cigarette smell in room! -Only hotel on our 2 weeks tripwhere Booking.com reservation apparently did not arrive -Correct but notextremely friendly staff; receptionist @arrival only spoke portuguese,,no problem for me (3rd year portuguese student) but maybe for others?-Permanently disturbing airco noise in room, also during night

Review 52:-Well situated for a short visit of Elvas city (10' walk tocity centre)

Review 53:The internet connection was a disaster: it did not work at all in my room and even in the lobby it went on and off. One of the worst on my long trip.

Review 54:Almost everything.

Review 55:There was nothing we didn't like about the hotel.

Review 56:Friendly & helpful staff. Elvas old town is a mere 10 mins walk.Nice breakfast, excellent value for money.

Review 57:In the description for this hotel, it was stated that internet was accessible everywhere. This is not the case. It is only available in the reception area of the hotel and even then it was hit or miss. I was very surprised to see that a three star hotel did not have a secure line. There is no password to enter. When I reserved the room, I noted that I needed a room with internet access.

Review 58:The location is great just outside the walls of Elvas next to the aqueduct. The walk into Elvas is not over ten minutes. Breakfast is a typical buffet style with toast, croissants, ham, cheese, yogurt, juice, coffee, tea, cereal, eggs, bacon etc... Quality is average.

Review 59:It is a very well situated hotel if you are travelling by car, which was our case. You cannot miss it as it is opposite the huge and ancient aqueduct in Elvas. In fact has really good views of this aqueduct. Free wifi in reception area. The staff are very helpful and friendly. All in all a very pleasant stay.

Review 60:There are parts of the hotel that are 'aged', such as reception andcorridor giving a 70's feel, but not the rooms. They must have done some'upgrading' but not completed in the totality. The rooms were very goodwith recent feel - at least mine. Nertheless it's clean.

Review 61:Excelent value for money especially as breakfast and wifi included.Breakfast was extremely good with plenty of fresh fruit.

Review 62:No onsite parking - though there was parking close by.

Review 63:Friendly and efficient staff and very good breakfast.

Review 64:Location, View over the Aqueduct
