Reviews for Hotel Rural Quinta de Santo Antonio

Review 1:Room very cold , not suitable for a winter stay because with big windows not perfectly isolated. I asked staff an electric heater as the air conditioner was not sufficient and noisy. Cold bathroom, no heating, and dated furniture, damaged by moisture . Wifi operated only in the hall, cold

Review 2:Room in an old and very characteristic farm, far 4 km from Evora; there was a huge garden , animals , great place . Staff very helpful and very kind, great breakfast . Huge bed and very cozy. Parking inside the car very close and easy to reach

Review 3:Unhappily, wheelchair access to breakfast room only possible via an outside terrace.

Review 4:Comfortable rooms, wonderful grounds, delicious food in the restaurant.

Review 5:Not a bad experience as such, but a little disappointed that the grounds etc a little faded from its former glory.

Review 6:Nice rural location. Interesting grounds and buildings. Food good and a lovely breakfast.

Review 7:The interior of the pool cafe could be more inviting and have a larger variety of snacks on view.

Review 8:The hotel met all our needs for a one night stay whilst visiting the flower festival at Campo Maior, although the bedroom was rather plain and had no view, it was totally adequate The swimming pool area was great and had plenty of sunbeds and mattresses.

Review 9:No wifi, awful plumbing, echoing halls (just what you need with noisy guests late at night), paper tablecloths in the breakfast room, ants in the hall... Nice rural hotel but, as someone who travels a lot, this isn't my idea of the four-star standard.

Review 10:Nice rural location, charming old farm with modern extension, excellent parking, nice restaurant and friendly staff

Review 11:Nothing to dislike

Review 12:We found the Quinta a wonderful place to stay - excellent facilities, very friendly staff, great value, a rural idyll. A real jewel in the countrside

Review 13:The hotel seemed a little tired. Could do with new paint.

Review 14:The house and gardens have so much character and history. The motorway to Elvas is the best in the world, and so quiet.

Review 15:Great atmosphere with the old home and grounds. Pool was modern and very good.

Review 16:Nice old house & gardens, but not cared for any more.

Review 17:The weather at the time we were there it rained

Review 18:Location easy access to Elvas town and surrounding area

Review 19:Private free parking Location easy to find from motorway Near Elvas Original old quinta Good dinner Quiet, peaceful place

Review 20:Nothing

Review 21:Lovely setting. Friendly staff. Peaceful.

Review 22:If I have to make one criticismo would be to the breakfast table that could perhaps very more true to the idea of rural hotel. It is not an importante point, it was satisfactory in the end, but given how satisfied we were with everything else, breakfast was a little disappointing.

Review 23:The hotel is beautiful, with many gardens, a nice playground for small children (we were travelling with our granddaughter age 3,5 years), a great swimming pool. But the strongest point is certainly the staff. Beyond polite, they were always very friendly and helpful, but also unobtrusive, so you could enjoy your privacy knowing you would have the help you needed.

Review 24:It is looking a little tired now and our room was very poorly lit - impossible to read in bed! Also, as we overlooked the courtyard, we had to keep the window shut as the fountain ran all night

Review 25:Been before, so knew the location. Lovely building, and a nice ambience. Nice restaurant meal

Review 26:Wi-fi isn't that fast, but in a rural setting it isn't that surprising.

Review 27:What a discovery. Set in a quiet, rural setting with well kept gardens, inviting outdoor pool and tennis courts. Rooms are stylish, food is excellent and the staff very friendly. Great value for money.

Review 28:The hotel is excellent for anybody who enjoys the countryside and staying in a old country manor house. Far better than a modern hotel that you soon forget about.

Review 29:If you reach the hotel during the night, can be difficult to find, especially if you arrive from Barbacete. Look out for the entrance of a farm on the right, 3km before the crossroad to Elvas.

Review 30:Never found such an unbeatable value for money! Apart from this very nice hotel in the countryside close to the nice town of Elvas. Good Internet connection and good abundant brekfast

Review 31:The room needs repairing: some lights don't switch on. The swimming pool was very dirty, with many insects floating on the surface.

Review 32:The place is charm and the gardens are goergous

Review 33:Breakfast was such a disappointment, due to the fact that coffee was not "real", but ready-made, tea was poor-quality and the milk jugs were dirty. Please, improve that.

Review 34:Beautiful rural house and well-maintained garden, typical of the Alentejo region. Close to the towns of Elvas (Portugal) and Olivenza (Spain). Both of them deserve a visit. Friendly and helpful staff.

Review 35:The noise from two very obtrusive cooling fans (one on the ROOF) and one in the pool area spoil completely the quiet of the rural location. COULD BE RECTIFIED.

Review 36:The design of the hotel, its location, and its pool area.

Review 37:At the weekend the hotel was very busy with families with small children which meant that the swimming pool was very busy and not very relaxing.

Review 38:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a very attractive location with charming gardens. It has an excellent swimming pool.

Review 39:Restaurant was somewhat expensive for dinner (turned out to be more expensive than the cost of staying in the hotel) but very elegant service and helpful waiter. Overall still great value for peaceful location and great dinner without driving.

Review 40:Very peaceful, rural setting. Great for relaxing and enjoying a glass of wine outside on the cobblestone terrrace in good weather. Beautiful old buildings, elegant tall rooms. Very helpful staff.

Review 41:Very friendly staff. Lovely food; I ate in the restaurant for the evening meal and the food was superb. I was given a large room and it was very comfortable.

Review 42:The way the staff "ignore you" after being at restaurant, not a single "good day" while you stay and passed by the same people...

Review 43:The situation and nature all around you, the beautiful gardens and space, the family house well preserved. The discret service.

Review 44:swiming pool not yet working begin of may, garden and children playground area facilities shabby.

Review 45:relaxing atmosphere, clean and spacious room. Nice old fashon furniture and interior decoration in the living room, bar with old fireplace, billiard room.

Review 46:The room was not warm enough as we were there in december!

Review 47:The staff was increadibly friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and confortable. The breakfast was amazing.

Review 48:It's in a remote location so you need your own transport, although I saw they have a van so maybe they can pick you up from Elvas,

Review 49:Beautiful building, spacious rooms, nice staff and great breakfast. Dinner is also very good.

Review 50:The atention not payed for the details of the reservation. Some of my the reservations requests weren't correctly taked care

Review 51:The facilty, all the gardens and the beautiful sorrundings

Review 52:The setting is delightful with the hotel surrounded by formal gardens, olive and citrus groves. For part of our week at the hotel we were the only clients. This never prejudiced the service or kindness we received from the staff. On arrival our room was upgraded without charge and we were immediately made very welcome. Service was always warm and personal and this did not alter later in the week when there were more clients. Restaurant meals and buffet breakfasts were very good. We very much looked forward to and enjoyed returning to the hotel each evening.

Review 53:We used this hotel as an overnight stop en route to Spain from Portugal. It was easy to find and a really historic place to stay. There were many Portuguese features. The gardens were being restored to their former glory and we especially enjoyed wandering through the grounds and finding little surprises at every turn. Our room was traditionally furnished with views on 2 sides. The bed was very comfortable. The staff were very helpful, especially when we had a problem with our motor cycle.

Review 54:I thought the food in the Restaurant for the eveing meal was a littleoverpriced but the service was very good.

Review 55:This hotel has beautiful grounds and are a pleasure to walk in. A coolwine on a terrace overlooking a peaceful country side was ideal. Thestaff were lovely and very helpful. The house is fulll of history andvery stunning. The room were good but the bathroom could have done withsome updating. A minor niggle was that the pool was not fucntional as wewould have liked to sit round it but maybe the time of year we visited(March) was not quite the sitting out season. I would certainly stayagain. Brillilant countryside location

Review 56:Dinner, commencing at 8.00pm, is too late for people travelling all day and using the hotel as an overnight stop. We had to eat in Elvas but would have much preferred to have had dinner in the hotel.

Review 57:The wonderful faded elegance. It is a delight to roam the formal gardens and imagine what they must have been like 100 years ago. There is still a tremendous amount of work to do but, each year, one can see that efforts are being made to make it again a prestigious hotel and wonderful location. Enjoy it the present giveaway prices, they will inevitably rise and refurbishment continues. By he way, the breakfast buffet is excellent !

Review 58:Silence, environment, price/quality, excellent for small children

Review 59:Quietness, excelent to get away. We had dinner at the hotel and it was excellent. Friendly and thoughtful staff.

Review 60:Location in the country side

Review 61:The reception desk staff are very kind

Review 62:the hotel gardens not well treaten

Review 63:location and monuments near by

Review 64:Poor breakfast and it was very expensive to have dinner there

Review 65:Situation and the rooms and gardens

Review 66:The restaurant was very good, the garden is beautiful, there is also a swimming pool and playground for kids.

Review 67:It's cold in the rooms in winter.

Review 68:Buffet breakfast exacty the same everyday.

Review 69:Overall good staff, room and facilities. Out in the country close to a city.

Review 70:Beautiful location with lovely grounds. The quality of the food in the restaurant was excellent.

Review 71:The wireless connection didn't work very well.

Review 72:Affordable good service in a preserved rural location.
