Reviews for The Elephant Crossing Hotel
Review 1:Cleanliness of the room was just ok, somehow there was a stain on the sheet. We stayed there for 3 nights, the breakfast menus were the same for 3 days.
Review 2:View is the best compared to the reasonable price. The balcony is where you can stay all day long and enjoy the view. Staff is quite knowledgable to the areas.
Review 3:Toilet seat in our room was not fixed to the pedestal which made for an interesting balancing act! Hotel feels as if it needs a make-over and some ongoing maintenance but overall fairly comfortable.
Review 4:Beautiful position overlooking the Mekong for both our room and the restaurant. Friendly and helpful staff
Review 5:Bathrooms are terrible and have mold. For this price, one can expect a much better bathroom.
Review 6:Excellent view! Decent location, just off the main party road.
Review 7:No elevator
Review 8:Very good location and love view from my room .The balloon passed by during the sunset was a perfect moment.Very friendly and convenience to connect to the city.
Review 9:We had dinner at the riverside restaurant which was not one of the best meals we enjoyed in Laos. For example, rather overcooked spring rolls with a fairly average and 'off the shelf' dipping sauce. But conversely, the breakfast buffet was excellent.
Review 10:Superb river and surrounding mountain view from the balcony attached to our room.
Review 11:Price a bit high if compared to other hotels in Vangvieng, Wifi signal is unstable. Same breakfast everyday....
Review 12:The location is perfect directly face to the River song and easy to walk to the center. Good local restaurant is nearby. Staff is friendly.
Review 13:River front position and you are able to directly communicate with tubers or kayackers as they paddle by. Relaxing front lounge surrounded by tropical vegetation. Proximity to the central of town. Lots of outdoor activities for kids and adults within 10 to 20 kilometres.
Review 14:the staff never seemed to be at the reception desk only a small gripe
Review 15:stunning views from our balcony, breakfast by the river,, old hotel but very well kept and ofcourse them views wow wow
Review 16:Very very dusty, dirty, grimy area....could have been the time of year we were there (April)and it was dry. they were still burning the mountainsides which added to the haze. It was hard to fully see the beautiful surroundings. We were here for 3 nights. 2 were good, on our last night there was a very very loud party across the river which kept us up until the wee hours of the morning.
Review 17:The view from the room was wonderful, the breakfast was a buffet with lots of variety and was good, good wifi, hot shower, close to restaurants and stores. There was enough counter space to make it livable.
Review 18:Poor wifi, ill-fitting & too thin curtains, no toilet roll holder, no hot water in sink. Too much sound transmission between rooms. Grubby eating area, tables not cleaned & very poor breakfast.
Review 19:Location
Review 20:Since visiting earlier in the year we fell in love with the place and decided to return at the end of the year, the rooms are great value for money and the location is superb with the most amazing view!
Review 21:Service is pretty poor, staff don't have service mind (maybe due to communication) Pretty old place, should renovate..
Review 22:Best Location! beat hotel view in vangvieng. Food is pretty good.
Review 23:Toilet kept being blocked, leaving the room bit smelly at night.
Review 24:Staffs are very professional. Breakfast on the veranda over looking the river just right below.
Review 25:We planned to stay 3 days but wanted to stay 2 days due to changing of schedule. But they charged us full 3 days fee. Air conditioner was noisy and there was no fixing though we asked to fix. Workers didn't clean our room until 4 p.m. and girl on the desk dosent know anything about vang vieng.
Review 26:The view from valcony on 4th floor is picturelesque.
Review 27:Nothing
Review 28:According to the renovation of the Elephant Crossing Hotel, they moved us to another hotel named "Silver Naga", which is the same owner. This hotel provided a beautiful scenic of Nam Song River and the mountain behind. It's located in the heart of Vang Vieng, easy to go anywhere. The staffs are very helpful and friendly. Breakfast and Wifi are great. The rooms are beautiful and clean.
Review 29:We upgraded from a standard triple room to the deluxe family room as soon as we opened the curtains. The river view and balcony are well worth the few extra dollars. Our room was lovely and perfectly clean. Walking distance to the livelier parts of town, but far enough away for the serenity that the view deserves. Loved this hotel.
Review 30:Renovations while we were there so very noisy during the day. A lot of ants in the room, but don't think it's something that can be fixed.
Review 31:Nice big family room. Good location. Breakfast was at the Silver Naga hotel (sister hotel) about 2 mins walk away. Good.
Review 32:There was under construction. During the day, It is impossible to stay in room. I dont recommand to stay in this hotel until the end of construction

Review 34:The bed was on the hard side.
Review 35:View from the room of the cliffs, sitting on the terrace on a cool evening. The staff were very welcoming and helpful

Review 38:Non responsive staff, terrible food at the complimentary breakfast and bathrooms too small
Review 39:Beautiful views of the river and rooms clean

Review 50:staff and The picture Of The Hotel differ to much from reality.
Review 51:Location and the breakfast
Review 52:Low pressure shower
Review 53:Breakfast in the morning, facing the amazing view!
Review 54:Price a bit high

Review 59:good location good view good breakfast
Review 60:Badly maintained hotel and poor cleanliness. Breakfast was bad. Overpriced.
Review 61:Great view of nam song river and mountains.
Review 62:Breakfast is poor.
Review 63:Location, room, and surroundings
Review 64:Good Location, staff was efficient and friendly.room was clean and comfy
Review 65:choose a room with river view, nice balcony, good breakfast near the river
Review 66:1. Our room smelled of feces and sewage. 2. Dead cockroach in room as if no one had cleaned before arrival 3. Stained sheets
Review 67:Staff and river side restaurant
Review 68:My wife and I had to sleep in 2 single beds as desk staff were unwilling/unable to change our room. Frequently no English speaking staff at the front desk.
Review 69:Location and amazing views.
Review 70:It's quite bad smell in the toilet. The hotel was very delay on reply an e-mail. In the tripple room that we stayed had a big pillar in the center of the room.
Review 71:The waiter is so kind. The restaurant has a very nice location. The hotel location is good. Walkpath is look tidy and clean.
Review 72:Eating next to the river is romantic, but it's hard to escape the associated bugs which just come with such a location. Not a huge deal.
Review 73:The location for viewing the mountains west of the Song River is perfect. We stayed here in 2009 and came back in 2014. It is very conveniently located to town but not too close to be noisy.
Review 74:The bathroom needs more attention on cleaning. The door was hard to lock (only from inside not using the key). There is no safe in the room, but there is one at the reception desk.
Review 75:The location is amazing: on the shore of the river, an incredible landscape. We were supposed to stau for a night only but we decided to stay there for two nights the moment we entered the yard of the hotel. Staff is kind and willing to help althought they still need to learn a lot. The room is basic, but clean, who needs more? The breakfast was good, with local and european food. The people on the restaurant and bar were very nice and helpful.
Review 76:The first room we were in (a suite) was very poor. It had broken furniture, a spa bath in the living area which had cracks in it, and the walls in the shower above the tiles were black with mould, the door to the patio wouldn't lock. It was also quite noisy with people talking in the hallways and doors opening/closing, etc. We were later moved to another room of the same type which was much better. However, some of the crockery at breakfast was badly chipped, and some of the food warmers were broken/not working. The whole place looked run down. Very disappointing especially after having read favourable reviews from other travellers.
Review 77:Lots of natural light in the room and a nice view of the mountains.
Review 78:They charged 80,000 kip for a minibus to Vientiane, when everywhere in Vang Vieng the price was 50,000.
Review 79:The view from the window and balcony really exceeded my expectations. Having brakfast by the river was also very pleasant.
Review 80:Top floor room was a bit of a climb to reach but was worth it for the view. Basic rooms , but very clean, and perfectly adequate. Breakfast OK. Great view from the bar area.....lovely to sit and watch the movements on the river and on the other side of the river. We could walk to the town centre, or hire bikes from the shop next door.
Review 81:Would be good to have safes in each room instead of placing valuable items with reception. Spa bath in the middle of the room was a bit weird.
Review 82:Quiet riverfront location with scenic views. Breakfast was excellent.
Review 83:Small details would make the place much much better
Review 84:The location is the best. The balcony lovely. Half of the staff is nice but some of them are not well trained not too much experience. The hotel needs care .
Review 85:Nothing to report
Review 86:I came here out of recommendation from my stay in the capital. My stay at this lovely hotel and beautiful town exceeded my expectation of course I ended up staying longer as I loved my time and stay here. Good breakfast, friendly and helpful staff
Review 87:Food was OK, not wonderful but still OK to eat in the hotel.
Review 88:Location, views were breath taking. Staff impeccable from service to being genuinely friendly.
Review 89:The hotel has so much potential but it clearly missed a drive to reallymake it into a beautifull place. Staff in the restaurant was cranky. Thewere rebuilding the riverside terras, which we therefore could not usewithout any compensation or apology! Pricewise it was quite expensive, compared to the luxury we experienced in Luan Prabang...
Review 90:View to the Mekong was great. Rooms were nice but could use somerefurbishing (the bath was not very clean). The food was good, price ofit as well.
Review 91:We loved the friendly helpful staff and the warm welcome. Our room had a beautiful view of the mountains. it was very comfortable. The food in the restaurant is excellent. My husband ate the fried fish 2 nights in a row it was so good (number 58)
Review 92:It really needs a bit of upgrading of the bathroom.
