Reviews for Grand Hotel Lund
Review 1:Very disorganised hotel. We got a lot of different and conflicting information regarding essential issues like parking and coordinaton with other guests.
Review 2:Location is great
Review 3:The breakfast. The eggs seem to be made out of powder and water or something of the sort. The layout doesn't really invite you to eat much. It's not very practical nor is there much variety of food.
Review 4:Very confortable bed! If i knew it would be this good i would have booked for longer. The bedroom and the bathroom are very cozy and elegant. One really wants to be there
Review 5:A wonderful and most perfect reception: Friendly, effective, no problem that couldn't be solved. A perfect restaurant with local produce on a very high level - not to talk about the famous wine celler. Found wines in the cellar book I've been looking for for years. Cannot wait to go back to this Shangri-La of hotels in an updated version of fin-de-ciecle gloire.
Review 6:No negative comments
Review 7:The ambiance of the hotel is excellent& the staff were without exception helpful, courteous & charming. Our room was very well equipped & maintained ,There was no view but it was quiet & comfortableIit had an ' old world' charm & high level of discreet service so lacking in most hotels these days. The food we had was very well cooked & presented,
Review 8:Great place to stay. Charming house, fantastic rooms, delicious breakfast. We will return sometime for a weekend stay. Close to the city park with a big playground and the swimming bath whith its 3 waterslides which was good entertainment for our 3 children age 8 and 10. Free WiFi which was also good entertainment for the children :)
Review 9:Wifi was hit and miss, service in dining room very pleasant but a little wayward with long waits at second meal re dessert/coffee/getting bill.
Review 10:Restaurant good though menu (as only one open when we visited) was limited
Review 11:WiFi connection was a bit slow, but it was fine.
Review 12:Breakfast buffet was great, location is perfect very close to central station and at the same time close to city centre and pubs.
Review 13:The single room 366 was very small and the bathroom tiny and did not smell good. The price was too high given the standard of the room.
Review 14:´Fantastic breakfast and a nice old hotel
Review 15:Very nice reception. The bar has real expert bartenders. The breakfast is superb! Travelling with our dog there was a "welcome package" with bowls and some delicious dog snacks as well as a dog bed.
Review 16:The door is not blocking sound enough, but since the other guests didn't make so much noise it didn't matter.
Review 17:Really beautiful hotel and very service minded staff.
Review 18:Rooms facing the square can be a bit noisy at night.
Review 19:The overall atmosphere. Attention to detail in the design and decoration of the room and common areas.
Review 20:The staff other than the male manager were not knowledgeable about the hotel, although they were pleasant. When I entered my room, I went to use the room safe and after trying everything possible, it still wouldn't lock and there were no instructions. I rang reception, but no one was there. Finally I went down and found the receptionist, who then looked through many binders, but couldn't tell me how to use the safe. I asked for a technician, but none was available. My room itself was a bit worn and not at all what one would expect for the price. The final straw was late at night when I tried to use the shower. The hand-held function did not work at all and I could only get low pressure water coming from an extremely high stationary shower head. Frustrating experience at this hotel. To top it off, in the morning I was coming down in the lift to check-out and when the lift stopped on another floor, the maid pushed the gigantic linen trolley into the lift, even though she could see that I was being squashed. No apology at all and she had a flippant attitude. I paid far too much money for my one-night Grand Hotel experience.
Review 21:The location is perfect and one can see that the Grand Hotel was at one time quite grand. It is, however, in need of renovation. The male manager who was at the reception when I checked out was extremely pleasant and helpful and wrote down my suggestions for improving my room, which had some problems. I had to catch an early train before official breakfast time and breakfast sandwiches and coffee were prepared for me.
Review 22:The lighting in the area where the computers are needs a floor lamp so that while one person is on the the computer the other person may read.
Review 23:The staff was exceptionally helpful, especially the head desk.
Review 24:On our first night, we were given the wrong room, which was disappointing. However, the hotel addressed our complaint promptly the next day and was then very helpful to us.
Review 25:Good position, attractive hotel. Breakfast good, dinner excellent, a real treat!
Review 26:Great location, just a 5 min walk from the railway station. Hotel opened in 1899 but has all the modern luxury like free WiFi in lobby, restaurant and room. Unique decoration in every room. Knitting basket at the room for guests to joi (like my wife did!). No A/C so can be hot at the summer. Staff is helpful and b'fast buffet is great. Loved it and will come again!
Review 27:Needs updating. I love this place since 50 years. Lack of air condition in the summer heat unacceptable of a luxury hotel
Review 28:Location, restaurant and beds. Atmosphere, tradition.
Review 29:The parking facilities are far from optimal and need to be explained in some detail - at the very least when bookings are confirmed.
Review 30:Very competent and helpful receptionists. Quiet but central location. Gracious period building tastefully furnished. Good food. Excellent breakfast.
Review 31:Everything was lovely, especially the room, the bar the staff, and even the weather!
Review 32:Nice ambiance, great location.
Review 33:Grand Hotel Lund is the epitome of what a good high-class hotel is like and it also has a first-class restaurant.
Review 34:The staff is the best part of the grand hotel. The location is unbeatable also; right in the center of town.
Review 35:Frukosten, lyx...
Review 36:N/a

Review 38:Dont be late for breakfast, busy schedule food gets taken away if after 11. Apart that Top quality
Review 39:Very good breakfast and nice staff in reception
Review 40:Very good hotel and good location

Review 42:Air-condition was not available, though it had heaters. It was an unusually hot day
Review 43:Excellent Location and cozy feel
Review 44:Fantastic room, friendly staff, wonderful food, perfect location in the lovely town Lund.
Review 45:Very near to the railway station, the reception is very polite and nice
Review 46:Deluxe room
Review 47:High class atmosphere
Review 48:Excellent breakfast buffet.
Review 49:Bed was a bit too small.
Review 50:Excellent location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Possibly the best breakfast in Sweden especially during the weekends.
Review 51:Promoted as a luxury hotel it dos not meet international standards. Lack of airconditioning a big minus
Review 52:Small room quite expensive
Review 53:Great restaurant and location
Review 54:Beautiful hotel, and very helpful friendly staff
Review 55:Very good atmosphere! This is my best preference.
Review 56:- poor wifi in our room
Review 57:+Everything
Review 58:Everything was good!
Review 59:Location
Review 60:Very friendly reception, got great help in finding and reserving a table in a good restaurant.
Review 61:Nothing
Review 62:Everything
Review 63:A bit old fashioned and ' dated ' but we found this actually added to the charm .
Review 64:The staff wanted to help you and made you feel very welcome
Review 65:Additional parking cost for a garage that is at 500 meters distance.
Review 66:Friendly staff, nice atmosphere
Review 67:Old hotel in very old town.
Review 68:tiny bathroom mediocre breakfast
Review 69:awsome bed awsome wifi beautiful building
Review 70:Very friendly and helpful staff , good breakfast, perfect localization
Review 71:they let us all have a late check out at 6pm as our flight did not leave until 10 pm
Review 72:Hospitable environment
Review 73:The pricing was a trifle steep, not sure I'd have chosen Grand as a private traveller. By no means vastly expensive, but I think that some slicing of the room rate could be had.
Review 74:Great location next to train station and a stone's throw from Commercial center of Lund. Traditional style and, thankfully, not modernized to suit aesthete aficionados, nice enough for simple folk like me;-).
Review 75:A La Carte wine with each course of food pricing confusing so paid twice as much as expected to.
Review 76:Lovely hotel. Very comfortable room with amazing view. Delicious food and wine.
Review 77:Room was excellent although for a superior room the bathroom was very small.
Review 78:The restaurant is excellent, both for breakfast as well as dinner. Perfectly located, near to the station.
Review 79:the room that we stayed in was, essentially, with the toilet in the room - the doors were glass, sliding and did not assure any privacy. For a room hosting two persons this is odd.
Review 80:staff very pleasant and helpful
Review 81:Dinner & bar service slow & waiting staff not particulary friendly. One waitress at breakfast was bossy & rude, especially telling off another member of staff in front of guests !!
Review 82:The charm of the building, location, atmosphere, breakfast & service in reception were all very good.
Review 83:No other way to pay than with the credit card/ half of the lights in the bathroom didn't work
Review 84:breakfast equipment of the room beds outlook of the hotel quiet atmosphere
Review 85:My room was tiny, even by European standards.
Review 86:Attentive and friendly staff. Great food at breakfast and in dining roomat night. Coffee station near my room was a plus. Location is great, near trains, university and lots of restaurants, bars, shops etc.
Review 87:No tea or coffee making facilities in room. Room allocated was on 5 floor but lift only to 4th, so flight of steep stairs with luggage not easy. No offer of porterage.
Review 88:Situation of hotel, building, decor, friendly staff. Good breakfast and light bright room.
Review 89:- My window (4th floor) opened only 10cm (what was meant to be on purpose, I asked), while there was no ventilation in the bathroom. It was too hot to sleep, but they brought me a fan. - The clip which should hold the shower head at a certain height was loose, so it always fell down to the shower pole's bottom. The reception told me, it would be fixed, but nothing was different in the evening, so I fixed it myself with a rubber band. - On the day before last, all towels were removed from my room, and when I asked for a towel the woman at the reception said:"I see what I can do". What a strange answer?! Eventually I got one myself at the changing room of the sauna.
Review 90:+ The breakfast was great! + Sauna very nice and always accessible. + Clean and up to date-bathroom. + Very comfortable bed.
Review 91:Single rooms at the top of the hotel were a bit stiffling in the warm weather.
Review 92:Clean hotel, with good breakfast and comfortable dinning room. Spacious lounge and rooms of good basic standard. close to the railway station. A classic hotel.
Review 93:I did not like not having a shower. It was not clear how to get heat for the bathroom.
Review 94:I liked the proximity to the train station and the breakfast was delicious.
Review 95:This is one of my favourite hotels. It is difficult to find fault with the food, comfort or position in Lund. The name ‘Grand’ is fully justified; rooms are spacious as are the dining rooms and everything is done with good taste. The staff have been extremely well chosen; all of them are genuinely friendly and helpful. I have stayed at the Grand many times and have always been glad to arrive and sad to leave. On this occasion I stayed in room 471 and there was a slight plumbing problem in that there was a noise from the pipes very occasionally when somewhere a tap was turned on. My only criticism is that guests should be warned in advance of the problem just in case they are extremely noise sensitive. I would add that Lund is a wonderful small town very close to Malmo. It is well worth a visit.
Review 96:The fact that Sweden seems very expensive these days!!!
Review 97:We like the Grand Hotel as a building, as a centre and the fact we havestayed there when living in Sweden years ago.
Review 98:Rooms are proper and comfortable, but outdated.
Review 99:Beautiful old hotel with a lot of charm in an excellent location forvisiting Lund, and conveniently close to the railway station (train toCopenhagen airport and the rest of Sweden). Nice bar and excellentbreakfast.
Review 100:The room it self; the decoration of the coridors of the 4th floor; the lack of basics like shampoo, in the room.
Review 101:The location; the restaurant; the grand reception rooms; the breakfast
Review 102:We were attending a wedding at the hotel and there was no ironing board/ iron. For a hotel of this category they should have in each room the facilitites to iron. We tried to call the front desk and the phone in our room was not working.
Review 103:Grand Hotel Lund was fantastic! It is very centrally located. The rooms are beautiful, beds are confortable and there were six cushions without a request. The hotel breakfast was excellent. I had a friend with a special diet staying in the hotel, and she was delighted of the food and friendlyness. I truly recommend Hotel Grand Lund for those who wish to have something extra for their stay at Lund.
Review 104:There was no safe in the room and the sink in the bathroom was very small (toilet sink size). With open window a bit noisy (trains, busses in the street under my room).
Review 105:Nice hotel. I got an upgrade so I had a great room. There were nice coffee-facilities in the hallway (Nespresso). There was also a small gym and a sauna. Breakfast was really good. Enjoyed my stay. I payed a really good price for my room, but saw that the price for the coming months is much higer now.
Review 106:* Bathroom could be bigger
Review 107:* Good breakfast (many things to choose from, good esspresso coffee)* clean, quiet room with bed, desk, hanger and place for a laguage * very close to the city center and the central train station * friendly staff
Review 108:No services. There was no bellboy to help with the luggage. There was no wifi in the room. Although advertised as pet friendly, there was only one room where dogs were allowed, right over the entrance where we were awakened every morning at 6 am or earlier by the sound of the garbage trucks.
Review 109:The location.
Review 110:Breakfast was not of the same class as the hotel. Selection limited no prepared fresh fruit and limited choice of breads. Unfortunately the breakfast room is dominated by a horrible and unsettling mural.
Review 111:A gracious hotel in a fabulous building, with well preserved art deco features, notably the staircase with its stained glass windows. In-room tea and coffee appreciated—Nespresso machines in the corridor. Convenient parking shared with Hotel Lundia.
Review 112:A larger room is always appreciated, but we did feel that the room, although not large, was laid out nicely. Supposedly, every room in the hotel is unique in size and decoration.
Review 113:My husband and I were very glad that we chose to stay at the Grand Hotel Lund rather than stay in nearby Malmo, as we had originally planned. Lund is is lovely, old town with winding streets but also lots of retail and restaurants. It was especially lively during the last week in August when we were there because students had arrived to begin the new term in this university town, and we enjoyed watching the various initiation exercises the new students were going through before classes began. We loved the Grand Hotel Lund, built at the turn of the century. It has retained its classic look but does not appear shabby or drab but instead has undergone renovations that bring out the best with marble staircases, a beautiful restaurant (where the breakfast buffet is served) and a welcoming ambiance. The staff is helpful and attentive, telling us to call if we had any problems. For example, we were having some problems with our tv remote, and when we called down to the desk, the receptionist came up to our room immediately to help.I don't know if it happens often, but when we checked in we found out that we had been upgraded from a standard to a classic room. While smallish by American standards, it was nicely laid out and classically and beautifully decorated with striking wallpaper, a chandelier hanging from the high ceiling, wooden floors and a sliding glass door bathroom, small but with a great shower and colorful floor tiles. The bath towels are very large, but even better are the terry cloth robes that are provided. Also, in a little alcove down the hall on our third floor was a coffee machine with pods that could be inserted for various types of coffee, so coffee was available at all times. The breakfasts were very nicely done with smoked salmon, various herrings, eggs, baked tomatoes, cheeses, great breads, fruit, various meats, cereals, nuts, cookies, etc.
Review 114:The room was just under the roof and very warm (August) and no AC. The staff arranged very quickly an acceptable fan. Few sockets and they where placed under the writing desk, so a bit tricky to charge my computer, phone and other electric "machines".
Review 115:Breakfast was very good. Very helpful staff. Beatiful hotel interior. Good value for the money. I will definitely come back.
Review 116:My only criticism of the breakfast was that apart from apples there was no fruit available which nowadays is very strange.
Review 117:The rooms had been recently refurbished to a high standard. Didn't appear to have any air conditioning which may be essential to some travellers.
Review 118:I didn't find a slide to enter in the main lobby from the street, and it would have been useful with the baby stroller.
Review 119:classic design, furniture etc combined with modern service and technologies
Review 120:It needs a redecoration. The breakfast buffet could have more fresh food and the oranges could be natural really
Review 121:It is very near the railway station and the city center.
