Reviews for Grand Hotel Bernardin
Review 1:1.Water filled bed is not a comfortable solution. 2. Too hot in the room and it is not possible to regulate heating. 3. A little bit worn room equipment
Review 2:1. Good location - 15 min walk from the nice small city Piran and 20 min drive from Koper 2. Indoor swimming pool + possibility to visit an aqua park near by, that is rather small, but nice. 3. Reasonable price as Christmas offer 4. Big free parking. 5. Big room
Review 3:crowded dining room (mostly dinner time, lack of intimacy and peace), although the dining room staff was most accommodating to compensate for it in any way possible. It was appreciated.
Review 4:- personal attention, room location, variety of food, the terrace of your bar, easy access to computer -
Review 5:Rooms need urgent refurbishment (to earn five star rating)!
Review 6:Staff was efficient, kind and helpful. The hotel have a concierge, valet parking, a fitness centre/ gym, indoor pool, wellness and spa centre. Great location, excellent food (variety of dishes), friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Review 7:Staff attitude, restaurant food, drinks are not included in half board evening meal, the climb to walk to the hotel, double bed is two twins pushed together, does not feel like a 5 star hotel.
Review 8:the sea view
Review 9:Not a 5 star hotel. Just an uprated package tour hotel. Balcony was in need of upgrading. Room fixtures were of 3-4 star standard and need refurbishing for 5 star
Review 10:Location
Review 11:Hotel needs refreshment ASAP. 1st floor "sea view" rooms are actually "tree view", you can hardly see sea. Internet working terribly in rooms. Balcony could use some refreshment and someone could water those flowers on balcony. Hotel beach not like on photos. Too many disappointments for an expensive 5-star hotel!
Review 12:Good free parking, location, breakfast.
Review 13:This is not 5-star hotel anymore. Rooms are very small, bathroom very small (for regular size people), bath tube very small with very high step to get out. When it's a low air pressure outside, the terrible smell spreads from sewerage system.
Review 14:Location. All rooms have a see view. Wi-Fi was OK at the hotel and on the beach. Friendliness of the staff at the beach. Good choice of food.
Review 15:The sea and the food.
Review 16:Friendly staff and great facilities. Piran and Porta Rose are delightful places to visit. Slovenia is an amazing country. Sun Tours car service was alway excellent.
Review 17:Wifi didn't work in rooms. Dated. Feels like an old Atlantic City hotel. Not a 5-Star hotel (at best a 3-Star hotel). Breakfast Buffet was mediocre at best.
Review 18:I only stayed one night.
Review 19:The beds were really uncomfortable. The bathroom, especially the bath-tub/shower is quite small.
Review 20:Staff is really friendly and although this is a very big hotel, it does not feel so. Really enjoyed breakfast and dinner - there was a great choice for everyone's taste. Amazing sea-food and fish at the restaurant on the ground floor! Also, the hotel has it's own beach, it's just a few steps away. The service at the beach is commendable.
Review 21:medusa in the see, 20 minutes walking distance to the town (but it is not a hard walk at the see side)
Review 22:All rooms with see view, polite personnel, private beach with sunbeds and parasols, nice inside pool, comfortable room, breakfast choice wide and tasty, private parking
Review 23:Air condinining does nit work in May, some times is really hot in room.
Review 24:Location is between two sightseeing towns Portoroz and Piran, buatiful for active, very good pool with sea water.
Review 25:Pool - for a 5* hotel, too small - you have a feeling like you're on someone's private party, gym - if you can call it gym - too small, pool to chilly, rooms to chilly (despite air conditioning)
Review 26:We were travelling as a young couple in january, view in hotel is amazing, food is very various and we were very happy with it. Liked mini bar in rooms
Review 27:It feels like the hotel is stuck in the 80's. It looks like its been half-renovated about 15 years ago but since then i dont think so. Don't expect 5 stars in this hotel, i would give it 3.5-4 max. Rooms are outdated, equipment very worn, damaged ceiling, balcony in a very bad shape. No hot water at 5 am so we barely fed our little baby with warm milk, no hot water at 7 am, we couldnt get the reception to tell them that. Very expensive dinner (25€) for the standard self service food. The whole hotel looks outdated with the red-ish color everywhere (dining room, restaurat, rooms, etc).
Review 28:This was a great hotel... 30 years ago! The few good things it still has - location inbetween portoroz and piran - great for long walks.. has a (small) swimming pool and spa services. Reception takes care of the car, parking, etc. Price - was pretty cheap (60€ per person per night) for a "5" star hotel. Friendly & helpfull staff.
Review 29:There are lots of old people at the hotel. Outdoor swimming pool for kids is not heated so my 10 mo old could not enjoy it even though it was August, the water was freezing. You have to pay for the spa smth like 15 euro, I think it should be free for hotel guests, esp that rooms are 200 eur per night. Can get noisy in the evening even if you stay at the top floor as people walk along the beach + music from restaurants. No kids room or it was not visible..
Review 30:The hotel is probably the only one in the neighbourhood that stands directly on the beach, most rooms have an excellent seaview. Panoramic pool is also great. Breakfast is OK but could be better.
Review 31:We were not able to use the bath (only dush) beacuse of a lot of water went out to the floor of the bath room while using bath. Must be improved.
Review 32:Very good meal, very nice staff ready to help. Enough space in the room (714). Beautiful view from the room on the sea. Nice and pleasant walking to Piran city.
Review 33:dinner : the quality of the food is very poor! Dinner start at 19.00, but around 20.00. there are not enough choice on the buffet table. It's high time to change the chef !
Review 34:location, VIP strand is high level, the stuff on the strand are very kind !
Review 35:Coffee machine at breakfast - 2 when there needed to be at least 4. Coffee quality at breakfast - why not offer more choice? Internet access in rooms - just two devices - nowadays this not enough Open a la carte restaurant on the ground floor in the evenings
Review 36:The location near the sea Rented bed area General quality of the facility Staff were first rate - very helpful polite and kind without being subservient Staff helped me get extra internet access.
Review 37:Rooms small and dated, particularly the bathroom. Sewage smell in some areas.
Review 38:Location perfect, a short walk to both Piran and Portoroz. Staff helpful and friendly. Hotel spotlessly clean. Everything well maintained,if a little dated. Quiet, slept wonderfully!
Review 39:old style conference hotel, aged badly, awfully decorated rooms with uncomfortable beds; breakfast below standards for a four(!) star hotel bad value for money
Review 40:location is great close to piran, sea view for all rooms; free parking
Review 41:The breakfast buffet was excellent, with something for everyone. The staff were very helpful, we got nice tips on where to go etc. I especially liked the private beach, with free deckchairs and sun umbrellas.
Review 42:Rooms look a bit worn. The AC is just ok, didn't cool down the room enough.
Review 43:Good location, nice, private beach, excellent buffet dinner and breakfast, polite staff. Loved the free parking. All the rooms have balconies with a gorgeous ocean view.
Review 44:It was difficult to find the entrance since the whole area around this hotel is St. Bernardin with other hotels as well. Reception a bit unpersonal.
Review 45:Meal was excellent. Own beach, beautiful panorama to the sea. St. Bernardin area incl. and around the hotel is nice to stay here.
Review 46:Hotel Room.
Review 47:Location, Great Hotel.
Review 48:Breakfast very nice Staff extremely pleasant and helpful
Review 49:Location e spa
Review 50:Poorly cleaned
Review 51:A bit in need of renovation now
Review 52:Great location looking out over the sea, nice big rooms, huge choice in the restaurant
Review 53:long waiting in SPA services
Review 54:location, views, food, proximity to what we wanted to see
Review 55:The terrace and the spa overlooking to the sea
Review 56:We have to wait a lot of time for sun- umbrellas, in the morning.
Review 57:The place of the hotel. The sea view . The breakfast was good.
Review 58:Bed was a little too hard.
Review 59:Gorgeous views, a fantastic indoor pool & a great lounging area by the sea.
Review 60:Very worn hotel, who would be needed to reconstruction - the interior. Does not match the quality 5***** My assessment is max. 3+ ***
Review 61:Quiet place
Review 62:The bed was worn out.
Review 63:Some renovations would improve the experience.
Review 64:A good mix of all you want. The view from swimming pool was really great.
Review 65:Wifi is not comfortable if you have more than 2 devices.
Review 66:Great hotel, wonderful staff and amazing location
Review 67:The staff was helpful and courteous. Free parking, free beach lounge chairs and umbrella. Private beach area. The Grand Hotel Bernardin is super!
Review 68:room
Review 69:food, beach
Review 70:Small room, small balcony ,step in bath rather than proper shower, out of date hotel ,not a 5 star experience.
Review 71:Location,car park
Review 72:It's a old style building only partially modernized.
Review 73:I paid a very reasonable price for a 5star hotel. The see view balcony was really cool.
Review 74:WiFi - 10 years ago it will not be fast !!!
Review 75:Room was OKish, expected a bit more (kettle !!!), but maybe it's just point of view.
Review 76:Location, view, wellness facilities, free parking.
Review 77:big, congress hotel
Review 78:location
Review 79:Some floors are older (but clean.)
Review 80:Location, pool, balcony.
Review 81:Rooms are small and warm, AC DID NOT WORK, terrible matresses. Do not offer this hotel to your clients!!
Review 82:No room service at late hours except cheese plate. If hungry, you die starving.
Review 83:The view from the balcony. Breakfast is good.
Review 84:Long queues for coffee machine at breakfast.
Review 85:Proximity to sea. Attentive staff.
Review 86:None
Review 87:We love the beach, perfect breakfast, relaxing spa!
Review 88:Maids entered to the room to clean without knocking the door at 09:00.
Review 89:Friendly staff Nice facilities Excellent breakfast
Review 90:The price was a little too much for the quality. The hotel was nice and we stayed in an executive suite, but the foldout bed for the children was very uncomfortable and small. There isn't access to any Jacuzzis or saunas without paying extra.
Review 91:Love the private beach and free breakfast/dinner. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
Review 92:Spa, pool and gym open at 9am. Spa is for extra charge. Wifi lets only 2 devices to connect.
Review 93:Excellent location, excellent view from every single room. Free parking with a lot of place available. Comfortable room. Small surprise gift for Easter.
Review 94:According to the price of the room I was expecting more luxuary and at least an available bottle of water or welcoming little present (chocolate..).
Review 95:Tha staff was very friendly.
Review 96:Some renovation in the bath and balcony would be nice. The Aircondition worked only for cooling.
Review 97:Amazing private terrace in all rooms, great for sunbaths after noon. Great variety of options for breakfast, even pancakes. Great internet connection.
Review 98:First, the reception made a mistake and gave us a room that thecustomers were still in.second the rooms and the furniture was too oldand the price was very high with so poor room.
Review 99:Nice view
Review 100:Nothing
Review 101:Excellent hotel , probably the best in Portoroz - Piran for a beach holiday . Private beach with towels , umbrellas and sun beds (Go pedestrian street ) All rooms with sea view, excellent spacious balconies . Good breakfast , lots of parking priotele . excellent wireless internet signal. The center of Piran, 15 minutes on foot
Review 102:the beds are uncomfortable, and very, very bad, feels that the sewage smell, pillows are also poor
Review 103:friendly staff, best of all is the swimming pool with sea water,
Review 104:We did not have lunch or dinner in the hotel but we had some cocktails in the bar – unfortunately, these were only average in quality and very expensive in price. There is an extra charge of 15 Euros if you want to use the sauna – a bit expensive, in my opinion.
Review 105:This hotel exceeded my expectations as I had read some mixed reviews. We were given an upgrade to a huge suite so things got off to a very good start. The décor in the room is quite dated but not shabby or untidy in any way, and everywhere was extremely clean. The bathroom was large, modern and had a wonderful flexible make up mirror with light (great for putting my contact lenses in and out!) There is free wi-fi in the bedrooms. The breakfast came with ample choice and a chef serving fresh egg dishes but it was very busy in the area at times. The views from the hotel rooms are superb and the beach in front of the hotel has a large, safe roped off area in the sea, which I really liked. The warm salt water swimming pool is also nice.
Review 106:Basically it was not a 5 stars hotel feeling for me, but good value for your money.
Review 107:Excellent location.Separated but parallel near to the city Piran. The whole hotel is clean, the rooms are small, but wonderful view to the sea. Very sophisticated breakfast with fresh fruits and hot meals. Isolated beach for the hotel guests, although the bar is a little bit expensive.
Review 108:If you used to stay in 5 stars hotels - don't go there. This hotelshould be rate for strong 3 stars. The staff at the reception is verynice but at the restaurants terrible - you can notice, that there neversmile and are unprofessional. The beach is divided in 2 parts - the onethat you pay extra 15 Euro per day and this one stays almost empty andthe other one - which doesn't have enough sun beds, so it takes atleast 30 minutes from the staff to find you one. The rooms and thebathrooms are very small. The rooms at 1st and the 2nd floor don'thave any sea view, because of the trees in front. So, if you decide tostay in the hotel - never get room on this floors
Review 109:The hotel has excellent location and nice spa.
Review 110:Rooms and bathrooms were small (for a 5 star hotel) and it all lookedvery much from a bygone era (although everything was in perfectworking order)
Review 111:Easy walking distance along the sea board to the nice little town ofPiran (forget about going to Portoroz, which has no character atall); private beach directly in front; hotel swimming pool with niceview (from the 8th floor level) over the sea; really excellentbreakfast; friendly and very efficient staff; balcony in roomoverlooking the sea front
Review 112:nothing! Great hotel.
Review 113:Fantastic hotel with a great staff and beautiful location. The salt water pool has a wonderful view and just perfect. The breakfast is a full buffet with many options. Also, I highly recommend the massages at the spa, great job and reasonably priced.
Review 114:The rooms are old and need renovation, the stuff is unfriendly, value for money is poor, TV have only 30 chanells and 15 of them is Italian. This Hotel is good enough for 3* and not for 5*. I booked delux room but I've got the everage room.
Review 115:Location and sww view
Review 116:Huge. Not 5 stars. Looks like elderly care facility. Shabby building. Little rooms. shower was broken. Pour breakfast. So many very old people from Germany and Holland that you should not plan it for romantic trip. They talk and smoke on their balconies and you feel and hear it all the time in your room. Pull and spa is full of them. No service on the beach. You should carry beach bed from the warehouse stack by yourself. No bicycles rent.
Review 117:Sea view. Located on the beach. No car traffic below. Quiet. Very kind personnel. Free parking.
Review 118:stunning view from the 10th floor where our room was located! Beautiful spa facilities, great Thai massage. Would like to especially recommend pampering treatment for young moms!
Review 119:- The dinner buffet for the price was not good. It was in my opinion "whatever food." If you eat dinner here, I would recommend sitting down and ordering specific menu items instead of the buffet.
Review 120:-The breakfast was amazing. There was so much food to choose from. Breads, fruits, normal breakfast foods, omelet and crepe station, slices of deli meat. Truly, outstanding breakfast after a night out on the town. -The view from our hotel room was beautiful. -The hotel itself really makes you feel like you got your moneys worth in paying for that extra star. (5star hotel) -The amenities this hotel has is a lot. -Right next to Casino Bernardin and also a short walk to Piran where there is local shopping and good restuarants.
Review 121:1) foul sewage smell, often reaching my bathroom through the piping (my room was on the second floor) and emanating to the room 2) food: quality rather poor for a 5 star hotel. The food quality was probably affected by the fact that dinner was buffet style.
Review 122:location, just on the seaside front
Review 123:Small and old-fashioned room and bathroom, bar over-priced with unfriendly staff. Max 4* Conference hotel rather than holiday.
Review 124:The location is good, by the sea, close to the Piran. Staff at the reception and beach is really friendly and helpful. Good spa, really relaxing and high quality with reasonable prices for 5* hotel category
Review 125:Advertised as a casino, but the casino was next door and it was a casinowithout gaming tables. One of the restaurants was also next door.Extremely poor value for money.
Review 126:Impresive lobby area. Good view of the sea
Review 127:A balcony with a spectacular view onto the sea, great food, lovely beach with free sun chairs, towels and umbrella, free parking, cleaness of the hotel, and, above all, highly professional and friendly staff.
Review 128:The a/c didn't work, so I slept with the door open on the balcony. This could be noisy.
Review 129:Very convenient for the conference, which was held in the same hotel. Decent rooms; good spa, excellent sea access for swimming. Breakfast was a good choice and a large enough room for all guests. Lunch was a bit less impressive (buffet) but still fine.
Review 130:Unfortunately I must say that two points made my stay difficult:1) the centralized ventilation/airco is noisy in most of the rooms ( I have checked several to find a more quiet one), which would make impossible to sleep for people very sensitive to noise like me. Some rooms (I was finally in 104) are reasonably silent. For the hotel management: the information about the permanent/centralized ventilation in rooms MUST be provided at the booking, as the customer shall have the possibility to decide to go in other hotels then. I personally contacted by phone the hotel few days before the arrival, explaining my problem and I had been assured that no centralized ventilation was in the room, only switcheable airco- which was not true and resulted for me in a very unpleasant surprise at the check-in. 2) the beds are rather hard, again too much for some people, like me. In some rooms there are even very old and damaged matresses, which would not be acceptable even for a 3 stars hotel ! When I moved to the 104, I had to really insist in asking to get a proper matress, as those in room 602. The personnel took a while to understand my request but finally accepted and satisfied my request. I would suggest the hotel management to replace the very old matresses and to have available in storage few soft upper matresses to provide under request (most of the good 4-stars hotels nowdays offer alternatives pillows and upper matresses to adapt the bed to the customers needs)
Review 131:I liked that the personnel was polite and in general tried to be helpfulat all time, particularly the boy who was supporting the receptionstaffs at night and really made an effort in finding an alternative goodroom for me, as the first one I was offered (602) had the airco too muchnoisy (otherwise it would have been fine). The hotel has a goodstructure, particularly the terrace and bar, wonderful panorama, excellent position on the sea with direct access to the pedestrianstreet. It is furthermore rather quiet at night (at least in thisperiod). Food was very good and fresh, maybe some improvement can bedone for the snacks offered in the bars at late night (I had a toast, which appeared quite "sad" also considering it costed more than 4 Eur). The room was not too fancy, more as of a 4 stars hotel, but it wasalways very clean and well kept, as the bathroom.
Review 132:Hotel nujno potreben celotne adaptacije!
Review 133:The hotel should have 4 stars, not more. Time has gone thrue ...
Review 134:Everything! My wife and I loved everything about this hotel and will definitely be returning in the future.
Review 135:no remarks.
Review 136:Perfect staff, excellent value for the money, deserve higher grade than 8.4.
