Review 1：The majority of the staff there need to go on a customer service especially the male matre'd in the resturant. He was unnecassarily rude and flippant to one of my family members on the first day - not a good start. Many of the other staff members there were not especially kind or attentive - felt a bit like a bother to be honest at times. The games room was closed apparently bacuase it was winter - even though a games room is probably exactly what you need during the winter especially at times when its raining and you need something to do (i found this to be the case when it rained all day on my birthday and had to use our own bought in games to entertain ourselves). The food is only okay. I couldn't get any internet on my ipad in my room but could with my phone which i found frustrating, the internet signal i did get on my phone was not great however if you just literally step outside the door the internet signal is fine - very frustrating! It is expensive to dine and drink there - for me anyway - 6/7 euro drinks, buffet dinner 15 euros - We went into town and the most i spent at dinner was 12 euros (not incl. drinks). My advice go to the Italian resturants (ironically) in town - they are really good. The portuguese resturants unfortunately were really hit and miss - which is a big shame becasue i was really looking forward to some good portuguese food but it looks like you actually had to go into Porto for that. There is no real entertainment at night for those under the age of 60 - which is a bit depressing - there was a keyboard player who did songs for older people. Not fun. The hotel in parts needs sprucing up in terms of the corridors - parts fo the decoration have been ripped off etc.

Review 2：The sea view room that I paid for was really great. It was quiet where I was. The beach was 2 steps away from the hotel, i don't know whether it was he time of the year i decided to go but there was barley anyone at the beach or in the town, so it was quiet and we (my family) had the beach was mostly to ourselves the whole trip. This also explains why there were so many elder people there when we stayed. I have just turned 25 - and i would say the average age of the guests there were in their 60s. Good for a relaxing trip bad for one if you want to really let loose. The bathroom was lovely - bath was lovely. Always clean and tidy - the maid/cleaner was really nice. Fernando at the front desk was nice and helpful. The breakfast food was good - eggs were hit and miss by the day but saying that i always had a good breakfast. Dinner was okay the one time i went in the hotel but i felt that it was too expensive for what they were offering which was not very good. I only took certain foods and just ate alot of that, during that dinner. TV is good but mostly all channels in portugese and cant put on english channels which i found frustrating when i would find something i wanted to watch on tv but found it to be dubbed in portuguese - just a little bit tortuous!! it is a good distance from markets and the boardwalk. my family who dont usually like to walk anywhere found it okay. We did have to take the taxi however to get to the casino and to the metro and it did cost a pretty penny to do either but we mostly just walked everywhere. Overall i had a good experience there - just a few things that need tweaking urgently. Good facilities - I didn't use the spa but my family did and they really liked it. There is a tennis court which they have their own rackets and ball that you can use and a outdoor and indoor pool that can be used but i recommmend you dont use the outdoor pool because the sea gull come in and use it as their private pond at night.

Review 4：The staff was very kind. They offer a suite instead of the regular room because one of our guests was celebrating her anniversary. Everything else was as expected.

Review 5：no more 4 stars - may be 2 and a half: first: when we arrive - no assistance for luggage. After asking, they showed us the rom where we could take a baggage car out to serve ourselves. second: breakfast is very poor! (comparing to the three star hotel we stayed before in Porto (HF Tuela). every day the same simple food- no changes. stop! there was one change every day: the only two kinds of yoghurt (natural and strawberry) that were serverd every day - one day the natural stood on the left side, the other day on the right side. The hotel was fully booked in august and there was only one toaster. so people were queing for 15 minutes and more. Cheap coffee in a big pot - no tomatos and onions for the white cheese. Third: There is a spa in basement. But you won't find a bathrobe in your locker. was the third time there - but no more!

Review 19：Horrible and rude front office staff. Bathroom doors don't close. When I complained they said its with all rooms my bathroom sliding door (room 603) was very hard when I told the front office guy checked it and refused to accept the fault but then after a day they slyly repaired it but then that was too late I had found another hotel to stay called Santana. I had booked for 5 nights in axis but I chose to waste my 2 nights money and checked out. Bad bad bad !!!

Review 25：I am a returning visitor and brought my partner with me on this visit, on entering the hotel the receptionist was very unhelpful very rude, this gave my partner a very bad first impression of the hotel. Really love the area but not sure if would go back to this hotel unless the receptionist have some training in manners

Review 35：Beware the counter staff. I had talked to one person to extend my stay for another night - he stated it was no problem and it would be at same rate. Then when I went to check out,, another staff member tried to charge me an extra 20 Euros. When I questioned it, he changed his story and said it wasnt a higher rate.. instead i had to pay an extra 8 euro per day when there was more than one person in the room. (it was my daughter and I) No one had stated that when I checked in. Still ended up paying an extra 5 euro. Ask for everything in writing and beware of them trying to charge you more.

Review 39：Decor clean and new in a tasteful shade of chocolate-flavour rice pudding. Room poorly designed - just two drawers, minimal lighting. Some staff experienced and very helpful , but backed up by an army of trainees, most of them indifferent. It's not the hotel's fault, but the beach location makes it a 30minute walk or €5 taxi from the Metro (and 20 minutes from the bus station), and the Metro takes a minimum of 45 mins to get into Porto.

Review 83：It was quite a walk into the nice part of Pozoa de Varzim. I would have preferred to be closer to the nice old part of the city. We noticed the Grande Hotel which was in a much better location. If you don't mind 20 mins walking or driving into the town this hotel is great.

More than 80 euros at a 4star hotel and having to sit in the bathroom to be able to read or check tickets or read medicine labels And this in a superior room! No extra lighting available. The lighting in corridors and public areas was also poor . Hair dryer cable was ok as long as you were under 5'3" or so. Pool out of use for cleaning, place smelt of paint. What a waste of good money. No action on complaints made.

Review 89：The room was very small and the bathroom door was too small and therefore did not shut properly - no privacy. All in all, it does not provide 4 star amenities or service. The indoor areas were gloomy. We expressly wanted to use the tennis court but it was covered in animal droppings. Although we emailed the hotel beforehand to say we wished to use it, it was not swept during our stay. At breakfast, no orientation by staff who seemed to have had no customer service training. Very poor overall and not worth the money.

Review 91：Despite the good things mentioned about the breakfast, the selection of bread and cheese was quite poor, as well as the fruit (one of the days they had watermelon and it was tasting awfully...). In the room, the bathroom had no chair or sit to put your clothes, the glass that protected the bathtub was so small that after every shower there was a lake of water outside on the floor, the wire of the hairdryer was incredibly short (i could move two steps from the wall where it was fixed, at best), the air conditioning was giving only cold air and the room was cold enough to make me sleep with two covers... it seemed more like a three star hotel to me.

Review 92：Breakfast for me was alright, as they had a share of options in respect to fresh sweet bread and cakes and jellies. The staff was always ready to help and very nice. The pool was beautiful, as well as the garden, and the facilities of the hotel outside my room were nice and confortable. The beach was three steps away and u could get there easily by a door in the hotel garden. The room had a balcony with chairs, and i had a nice view to the beach.

Review 94：The brown dull decor and lack of lighting in corridors and public areas. The lighting in the bedrooms was a disgrace. It was impossible to read and would be impossible to use desk for writing. Sliding bathroom door provides no privacy as it doesn't shut doorway completely. A high rise hotel in a sea of high rise buildings. For a four star hotel, bedroom and bathroom were compact. Rear facing rooms have views of car parks and depressing holiday buildings. No balconies - perhaps understandably!

Review 96：the breakfast was very poor, it should have more Portuguese food like cheeses and fresh fruits, the swimming pool edge was quite danger presenting a abrasive surface with sharp little stones where you can easily cut yourselves, the playground area was poorly kept with no grass at all, with mud everywhere, amazing to see this at 35 degrees weather and a sand beach just across the street, everything very ease to fix or improve need just the manager walk around sometimes to see. This means poor management team.
