Reviews for Causeway Bay Hotel
Review 1:Parking lot needed to be maintained more due to snow and ice. Toilet seat was obviously replaced before our visit and was too small and did not fit properly. The toilet seat was very loose as well and it would move from side to side when you would go to sit on it.
Review 2:Comfortable beds, grest size room, pleasant and friendly staff, and nice pool area.
Review 3:We booked this hotel through Booking.com from the road, about thirty five minutes before arriving in Lansing. When we arrived at the hotel, we were told that the hotel had meant to cut off online bookings because the hotel was full and there were no rooms available. Then the clerk called housekeeping and asked if Room 321 was done being cleaned. We were told it would be a few minutes and agreed to wait. Forty minutes later, (seriously, if housekeeping had already started that room before we even walked into the hotel, and industry standard cleaning time is 30 minutes...was there a murder in there, or what?) we were finally in the room. When we checked out at about 3am, a different front desk clerk, noting what a short time we had actually been able to use the room, said "You know they're still gonna have to charge you for this room, right?" in an unpleasant tone. We agreed that yes, we understood that we would be charged for the room, signed the slip, and left. Imagine my surprise to find out a few days later that I was double charged for this room. I immediately called and explained the problem, but was told, again in the unpleasant tone, that a manager would have to call me back "if she decides to do something about it." That's right. IF, not when. I did notice the refund on my electronic statement after a few days, but never got that phone call. I wasn't really expecting a manager to take the time to call--that's kind of a ridiculous way to spend her time--but I do think the employees could be better trained about how to handle the routine functions of running a hotel (like not telling everyone who calls with a complaint that a manager will call, for instance.)
Review 4:The room and facilities were average for the cost of the room, but very clean, and the first front desk clerk we had contact with was helpful.
Review 5:Checked in before the game. Came back late at night (1:00 am) and my keydid not work. Went to the front desk and there was a line up of 20people checking in. No exaggeration. One person working .... One ! Tookme an hour to just get my key changed so that I could get in my room.Very poor service ... someone is a very poor manager. Only one personworking the desk after a night game with 100% occupancy is horridmanagement.
Review 6:Blood on the bed spread, a tick in the bed. Our animals all take monthly flea/tick medicine and have not had any ticks before or after this visit. There was no info that I saw about breakfast in the morning.
Review 7:There was an indoor pool.
Review 8:The continental breakfast was horrible, poor selection and very low quality options. There is a restaurant, however, there is no discount associated with it.
Review 9:The Bed, Exercise room, and Pool were the best fetchers.
Review 10:It could use a bit more renovating
Review 11:Compared to the other hotels, this one stands out A LOT. Compared to its previous state it looks excellent, and if they keep working on it to make it a bit better, it has the potential to get 4 stars.
Review 12:Last time we stayed there was a full breakfast. This time it was a sad continental breakfast, no bananas and no yogurt. We wound up needing to move twice because of plumbing issues.
Review 13:Staff were friendly.
Review 14:The toilet ran all night. The GM said that was just too bad. They did offer to give me another room, but I was ready for bed and declined. Brother also had water problems (no water, in their case). Manager was rude to another customer before me.
Review 15:Lovely landscaping. Nice room. All the staff (except managers) were great.
Review 16:When arriving the front desk clerk was on her phone and did not bother to look up until another one of the employees walked up to give her a piece of paper. At which time she then asked if she could assist me.
Review 17:Great location for any military family who will be visiting their soldier prior to departure for basic - only 5 minute drive to MEPS station.
Review 18:Skip the breakfast. Not a clean table on arrival. Then took order, brought food and waited till food was cold for silverware and napkins. Upon complaint was showed were the continental breakfast Microwave was to warm up food. Also had to use coffee cup for OJ. Would be better to close this place.
Review 19:Loved everything but the breakfast!
Review 20:See above
Review 21:The rooms were very nice. Beds were amazing. Staff was very nice but, felt they were lacking slightly with information. Example we had a receipt slid under or door after one night in someone else's name but our room number. We had our receipt from when we checked in but your computer's showed no record of us. There was never a manager on duty anytime I went to the counter. There seemed to be only one person on duty. A couple times there were a few people waiting long periods of time because there wasn't enough staff at the counter. Also the toilet in our room didn't want to flush correctly.
Review 22:Breakfast was terrible, the hotel is very large so if your older get a room near the elevator or you will have a very long walk.
Review 23:The room was very nice, clean and comfortable. Pool is great if you have kids. Staff is helpful.
Review 24:The water was cloudy, tasted weird and left a white later on my skin after showering. I would have sworn it was chlorine. Please check your salt to chlorine ratio.
Review 25:The bed and pillows were the best I have ever laid on.
Review 26:The hotel ran out of breakfast (which was defrosted frozen muffins), the beds were uncomfortable, and the location is far away and hard to get to. The parking was confusing and is at the opposite end of the building from check-in.
Review 27:Everything seemed pretty new. The breakfast was free and the center courtyard is nice. The bathrooms were very clean and had nice amenities.
Review 28:Had two rooms Specifically asked for early check in and double bed Got neither When given a new room ( having to move my 93 yr old grandfather the room was still dirty The other room never got maid service So housekeeping and front desk needs some management training.
Review 29:Rooms were pretty nice and bed comfortable
Review 30:Modern, cozy but roomy....very clean with a great staff. Very nice looking hotel. And a 2pm checkout...amazing. Will definitely come back when I'm in the area.
Review 31:I was traveling with two young girls, and they have been in hotels that have at least a continental breakfast. There were a lot of kids staying there for various reasons, and for the coaches and chaperones, a simple breakfast would have been on point!!!!!!
Review 32:Breakfast mediocre, business center minimal
Review 33:Excellent value for money; good access to interstate highway, and variety of restaurants and stores nearby. Fitness center acceptable.
Review 34:Not a bad experience, but the heater overdoes its job (too warm, even though it was set below 70). And the wake-up call really needs work! All I heard was a quiet single tone . . . once! Finally, the bed is a bit "tall" for short people!
Review 35:It was quiet and relaxing.
Review 36:Recent remodel. The hotel was beautifully remodeled. New fixtures with modern design. Would never have guessed the jewel inside by the way it looks outside. The bed was super comfortable!!
Review 37:Vending areas, pool area is a hazard- gets too slippery, dinners offered.
Review 38:Great Hospitality, workout area along with the yoga. Loved the hot tub and Sauna.
Review 39:I always enjoy my stay at the Causeway Bay, the rooms are quiet and we rarely hear other guests. The size of the rooms compared to similarly priced rooms is about double what you'd get for the money elsewhere.
Review 40:I asked on several different occasions if we could get the room clean and more towels and new sheets and it just never came
Review 41:I love the pool the room the bed it was a very awesome
Review 42:Too many people at the pool.
Review 43:The beds were very comfortable and the pool and hot tub was relaxing. The hotel is very well taken care of and the free breakfast made it an excellent deal. I would highly recommend and will use this hotel again!
Review 44:Obviously ineffective management. The right hand has no idea what theleft hand is doing. Reserved a KIng room weeks in advance. Front deskcould not locate an available room at check-in. Sent me to an alreadyoccupied room. Housekeeping would not respond to front desk calls to askfor additional "ready rooms".. After about 45 minutes theydecided to odder upgrade to Jacuzzi room. Room had no shower which was ahuge negative. Jacuzzi did not work. Ran for asa few minutes then"just quit". Power buttons were broken. Drain came apart whenopened to drain water. Total fiasco Wound up in wrong roomunsatisfactory
Review 45:Good room, and polite deck people.
Review 46:ONLY complaint would be no free breakfast. They charge $7.95 for breakfast buffet. However our room rate was only $69 so it was a GREAT value.
Review 47:Large, tastefully decorated king room. Looked new. Loved the rain showerhead. Also very quiet on second floor.
Review 48:The facilities needs a serious facelift in order to even pose as a "conference center". The first room we got, someone was already staying in there - second room, the bathroom had not been cleaned. There was several bodily fluids on and in the toilet. Staff then proposed to clean the bathroom, but at that point, I was seriously upset and demanded a new room - or I would simply leave. They gave us tickets for free drinks and breakfast. The bar lacked inventory and atmosphere and I had no desire what so ever to find out what breakfast was like. A true dump. You can mask a lot of things, but the make-up applied to this former Best Western needs a serious overhaul. I will never stay there again.
Review 49:The breakfast is included but most dishes served looked and tasted more like dog food - and we are not usually picky on hotel gastronomy. The staff at the breakfast station just sat there in the middle of the place not minding customers...maybe we should've bark to get them back to work.
Review 50:They made an excellent job at renovating probably an old convention center from the 70s. Eventhough the outside looks outdated and not welcoming, the inside does look like a nice 3.5 star hotel room. Very comfortable beds and pillows, clean and nicely decorated.
Review 51:We reserved five rooms and had trouble getting two of the rooms. A hair dryer in one room broke twice. Room wasn't cleaned up one day of our stay, beds left unmade. One room never received clean bath mat or wash cloths for two of the four nights. And we were overcharged the rate given with booking.com. Although The front desk staff promptly fixed the overcharge. The buffet breakfast was horrible.
Review 52:The beds were very comfortable and the front desk staff very eager to please.
Review 53:Eerily quiet the night we stayed, limited room service and no breakfast available
Review 54:Large clean rooms Great in room movie choice Friendly helpful staff
Review 55:After speaking with the cleaning staff supervisor and being told our room would be cleaned, we came back to find that it wasn't cleaned and the dirty towels were still on the floor of the bathroom.
Review 56:The bed is very comfortable. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and the breakfast is very good. We also enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi.
Review 57:We came up late at night and had to come back down twice because our keys would not unlock the door. The maid for the room did not put clean towels in restroom. She left them on the counter in the room. When we checked out the manager for housekeeping was not available.
Review 58:One of my sisters and I traveled to Lansing to visit my other sister who is a patient at Sparrow Hospital. We liked the closest of the hotel to the hospital, free breakfast and quiet atmosphere.
Review 59:The check in process was extremely inconvienent and I found the staff working that night rude. I called the hotel twice to let them know I would be checking in but it would be later at night and to hold my room. They told me that I had to be there by midnight to get my room. I asked if I could check in over the phone and they said no, I must be there by 12a. I had to ruin my plans for the night because they would not allow us to check in late at night, which is not only a bad policy but inconvenient for your customers. When I did check in to the hotel, the women was extremely rude, wouldn't make eye contact, and was short with me. I felt like I was inconveniencing her, rather than the other way around as I went out of my way to be there by midnight.
Review 60:The hotel was a great value.
Review 61:Parking was dark and across the street. I was a little concerned walking in alone at 11pm however no issues.
Review 62:I was a little leary of this hotel, however the interior looked newly remodeled and high end. The beds were very cushy and comfortable. Very pleased.
Review 63:I checked in around 8:15PM EST and they gave me room 479. I walked up to my room only to see a screaming person in my room. When I go downstairs they show me the contract I signed and it had my original room 479 crossed out and on the side they put 579. Instead of calling me to tell me that they probably had already booked that room they let me walk up into the room. that's why I marked the service poor and the front desk person hung up the phone on me when I disclosed my displeasure. No worries and good luck!
Review 64:if i had to say something i guess it would be the walk from the parking lot, but that wasn't even that bad....
Review 65:the staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was nice and we faced the courtyard which was also nice, the size of the motel was deceiving, much bigger then i thought, we felt safe and secure, the breakfast was fantastic and fresh.. total enjoyment
Review 66:The only complaint I have is that the top sheet seemed like it was made out of paper and made a crinkling sound.
Review 67:Considering this is an older hotel in Lansing, I was pleasantly surprised to have an updated room. It was very clean with a nice bathroom, towels, comfortable bed and nice pillows! Great room for the price!
Review 68:the breakfast staff seemed to not work as a team,, the plates were out, orange juice should of been re filled, not enough seating area.
Review 69:the large queen bed , very confy after riding in the car for eight hours.
Review 70:The first time we stayed, the hot tub was too hot to get into. The breakfast isn't great.
Review 71:Good parking, comfortable bed, pretty quiet. Minutes to both of the kids and near decent restaurants.
Review 72:There was a wedding party celebrating outside in parking lot late into the evening. Elevated voices made it difficult to sleep. We do not hold this against the Hotel.
Review 73:Everything.
Review 74:We walked SO FAR from the parking lot to our room. Only one elevator at the far end of the hall and no stair acces at our end of the building that was useable--only for fires.
Review 75:Room was lovely and comfortable and quiet.
Review 76:We booked this hotel because the booking.com and the hotel websites bothstated complimentary airport shuttle. We were distressed passengers -our flight to ny was cancelled and we needed to overnight and continueon the next day. We flew in for our connection - arriving around 11 pm.We have to catch our new flight at 6 am - - so we needed a hotel thatwould get us from and back to the airport without problems. When welanded and called for the shuttle to come pick us up - we were told thatthe shuttle had to be reserved 24 hours in advance. We did not even knowwe would be in Lansing 24 hours before! Instead we ended up paying $35each way to stay at your property - - almost more than the hotel stay...Almost $160 for the hotel and transfers - for 3 hours of sleep.
Review 77:The room was comfortable and clean
Review 78:Toilet backed up water all over the floor. Employee came to fix toilet. Still didn't flush properly had to use public washrooms. Thought if used it would flood again. Breakfast cold. Should have complimentary breakfast daily.
Review 79:Location.
Review 80:Trying to do our washing! No one seemed to know how the machines worked, the only reason we persevered was because we had to get it done!
Review 81:After launching a book in Michigan this was a wonderful stay. Staff were helpful, the room was spacious and comfortable. A great place to relax and replenish energy.
Review 82:Dinner was poor. Paper plates, steak was like a hamburger. No wait staff. Swimming pool was closed. Key to room didn't work. Had to go back downstairs to lobby to ask for help.
Review 83:Breakfast was excellent. Hotel was clean.
Review 84:Staff at front desk was not friendly at all. There was poop in the stair case The rules of the pool were not enforced kids running and diving in the pool and there was no parent supervision
Review 85:The hotel is huge but clean and on my stay quiet.
Review 86:That we couldn't stay longer .
Review 87:James at the front desk was very professional and polite. No issues withthe booking at all.

Review 94:Room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Staff was very helpful and courteous.
Review 95:Bathroom was not very clean
Review 96:Price was good. Close to restaraunts and shopping.
Review 97:The bar/restaurant did not have enough staff. The waitress was apologetic but it was the managements fault.
Review 98:musty smell in hallway-from the pool, perhaps?
