Reviews for Faja dos Padres

Review 1:Old furniture and poorly equipped kitchen.

Review 2:Location is great. The idea of being on a bio farm. Beautiful nature, right next to the sea, under a cliff. Kind staff.

Review 3:Well, it is not really bad experience. We stayed there six days and found that the breakfast meals are good though monotonous. The elevator is not fitted any more to eight persons and that can cause tensions among the guests for priority to the lift.

Review 4:We mostly enjoyed the sense of remoteness from the tourist loaded locations. The combination of friendly staff and renovated cottages make it a very pleasant place to stay.

Review 5:The breakfast, which had no produce from the farm except the fruit jam.

Review 6:The location, underneath a cliff that can only be accessed by lift. The farm, which grew almost everything.

Review 7:No available public transport to the place. Many insects and a cat paid a visit to our villa.

Review 8:Special location, like most traveller said "Paradise on the earth". The villa are also nice and comfortable.

Review 9:The kitchen was only equipped with the basics. A bit more household goods would really be nice.

Review 10:Faja dos Padres is a very special place. The tropical fruit garden is like paradise and it's great to eat the fruits from the garden. The cottage was big enough with a nice little garden and terrace with sea view. The restaurant was also very good. We also appreciated very much that we could come and go also outside the normal lift times. The lift service was excellent.

Review 11:I did not like the restaurant. The food is not what I have expected from an idyllic place like this. I expect them to use the farm produce in cooking. Meals with vegetables would be suitable, instead of always with lettuce and tomatoes. Also I believe they could aim for better coffee. I was shocked to learn that their fish stew was made of black scabbard and mullets!!

Review 12:I loved the scenery. The combination of seaside and farmland, the beautiful mango trees and the pitangas, the paths covered by vineyards and banana plantations. It is very quiet, one can sleep listening to the sound of the waves. The house was very good, outside looking like a little farm cottage, and inside very cosy and clean.

Review 13:I would suggest the hotel to provide either aircon or a fan. To prevent mosquitoes getting into my room, I slept with closed doors which is too warm in the summer.

Review 14:Location, ocean right under your toes. Authentic living in a private farm, beautiful sunset, full stars skies at night, spectacular setting. Good restaurant. Service is very good, discrete and respectful.

Review 15:The cottages are in an ecological farm/garden and in case you are afraid or uncomfortable with all kinds of crawling things namely insects (e.g. spiders of ca. 3 cm and bugs of ca. 4 cm) you should be prepared for some exciting nights: the cottages are clean and there is eco-insecticide available in the cottage, but there are so many corners in the lovely refurbished houses that there always comes crawling something. However: in case you do not mind insects: go there, it is indeed paradise! You have all-time access to the lift, but you should be aware that from the cottage to the car-park (or vice versa) it takes ca. 30 minutes. So, in case you plan to have a tight sightseeing program this might be an obstacle. Well, but once you are down at Faja you do not wish to leave from there anyway.

Review 16:300 meters down the cliffs and you are in a paradise: an ecological garden with bananas, mangos, avocados etc. Even some sheep. Already the welcome at the lift is very friendly; as is all the staff, especially Pedro; they organise the transport of your luggage to your cottage; you can get fresh fruits out of the garden in a basket for a good price. The breakfast is served under palm trees with view on the atlantic; there is a nice small sports field and many romantic corners in the garden.

Review 17:The prices of the wines to take to houses (but understandable considering location and can be avoided by buying before arrival)

Review 18:* The peacefulness of the place, ZEN * the beautiful gardens * the cozy house with private sea access * bbq possibility * the staff * the ambiance of the little bar/restaurant by the sea This is simply paradise! On top of everything, the owner had his bday party while we stayed there and because they closed the only restaurant for that day, they kindly invited the guests staying there to enjoy the feast with them, delicious lamb and Oreo cookie cake - obrigada! It is an amazing place. DEFINATELY GOING BACK!

Review 19:The piece and quiet.

Review 20:Location Location Location. Nice and quiet. By the sea. In an old well laid out spacious farm residence.

Review 21:nature and surrounding

Review 22:You need to be reasonably fit for the 371 steps twice a day!

Review 23:Location- laying in bed listening to the the sea and watching for whales

Review 24:the walk up the steps to the lift isn't very far but enough to get your hart rate up. the houses do not have wifi, but that is part of the relaxing really.

Review 25:such a amazing place to relax, well ecuipt house and what a view. we really got away from the hassle to wind down. madeira and faja dos padres has all you need for that.

Review 26:It would be good if guests could use the elevators in the evenings without calling the lift operator first

Review 27:- Interesting place with beautiful scenery - Extremely quiet and remote - Small number of guests - Friendly staff - Excellent restaurant

Review 28:If you don´t bother to take the elevator and to walk a bit: this place is haven on earth. Very quiet and romantic place next to the ocean. Very friendly and helpful staf. Smal kitchen with good stuf to prepare commen meals.

Review 29:Breakfast is from 10 AM to noon only; dinner has to be ordered before 5 PM and eaten before 6 PM – i.e. not very flexible! The place is not suitable for physically weak persons and those who are scared of height.

Review 30:The secluded area is exceptional, with a lot of different fruit farming. The food is good. The staff is very friendly. The bungalows are very spacious and equipped with complete kitchen facilities.

Review 31:We liked everything, but for people who are not that strong physicallyand who are scared of height the place may not be very suitable.

Review 32:We just fell in love with the place - it is a paradise on Earth! Uniqueatmosphere of peace and quietness surrounded by fantastic scenery - thesun, the ocean, cliffs and beautiful gardens of the eco-farm full ofmangoes, papayas, bananas etc. Normally I do not like to stay in oneplace, but when we got to this place I understood that I do not want togo anywhere else. Due to location of the hotel you feel absolutelysecluded from the whole world. And the elevator impressed us a lot -absolutely unique machine! Some pets live on the farm (cats and dogs)and their presence made us feel absolutely like at home. Bungalows arespacious and comfortable (bedroom+living room+bathroom), and equippedwith kitchen and bathtub in the bathroom. All bungalows have terracefacing the ocean. Bungalows separated from each other by the fence, soyou will hardly be disturbed by the presence of the neighbors. Verytasty breakfast is served in the restaurant (5 min walk from bungalowsacross the farm along the coastline) at the reasonable price of 5EUR/person. Cannot help advising to try passion fruit dessert -delicious! For the rest of the menu prices are average for the touristplaces on the island. Staff is very friendly. We will definitely comeback next October!

Review 33:the matress from the bed is like a hangmat, really bad for the beck, the house could have been a little more cleaner, especially the bathroom. It takes a least half an hour to get from the house to the parking

Review 34:excellent location, views from the house, lift operator and restaurant staff very helpful and friendly

Review 35:The lack of vegetarian food offerings in the restaurants menue. The elevator is nothing for people who are scared of heights.

Review 36:Very obliging and friendly staff. Is literally heaven on earth. Tasteful and cosy interior design. After some days of hiking and excursions, Faja dos Padres is the perfect and peaceful place to calm down and relax.

Review 37:Restaurant for breakfast opens late

Review 38:Sceenery

Review 39:Unclearity about the breakfast at the beginning

Review 40:Fantastic location at the sea side Very caring people and helpfull
