Rainbow Motel sells fast on our site. Located just opposite the Gate Pa shopping centre in Tauranga, Rainbow Motel offers self-contained accommodation featuring fully equipped kitchens. Guests can enjoy a BBQ in the outdoor dining area.
Rainbow Motel, is a 2-minute drive from Tauranga Hospital and a 4-minute drive from Tauranga Golf Course. It is a 6-minute drive from the Strand waterfront area and the centre of town, where guests can find a variety of shopping and dining options.
All suites and studios have a flat-screen TV, dining area, a living room and ironing facilities. Kitchen amenities include a stove top, microwave, toaster, coffee making facilities and a refrigerator. Guests can shower in their private bathroom and enjoy using the free toiletries provided.

Review 3：No aircon. only one wall mirror in the whole motel room and that was in the bathroom but no plug anywhere near the mirror for the hair dryer provided, have you ever tried styling your hair with no mirror? Quite a challenge, made it hard to get ready for a wedding with a room full of females! All it needs is a full length mirror some where :) Outside is old looking but inside has been updated and was lovely :)

Review 5：The owner was very helpful and friendly. In fact, he even upgraded me to a larger unit for the same excellent rate. The family have only had the motel for the past year or so. In that time they've refurbished all the rooms and while I was there they were busy working on the landscaping. It's opposite Gates Pa Shopping Centre, so I had a quick shop, a drink in the sun and then got takeaways.
Review 6：Room not advertised as back packer, having to share toilet that does not lock. My 2 young girls did not want to go to the toilet by themselves.

Review 12：we thought we were booking a motel unit, not a backpackers room. it was different but was bearable for one night. half the property was motel units, whilst the building was the back packers portion. when booking the booking info needs to be clear that you are not booking a motel unit. anyhow it wasnt unpleasant just a surprise once we got there.

Review 14：The room was noisey, part of the house, not a unit just a room, wasn't told this when booked. Badly painted, tv sitting on cardboard box, not what I expected. The manager very nice but would only recommend if you wanted a cheap no frills room.
Review 15：We did not have a good night's sleep due to the next door guests been loud and having a party until 2 or 3 in the morning on 30th. Staff should be for making sure guests should not disturb/make noise after 10 pm

Review 17：We got a free upgrade to a much bigger room. Owner & staffs are very friendly. Newly renovated motel. Location is good. Just opposite KFC and some shops & cafe. Beside Pak & Save super market. Very convenient. Free parking & free wifi. Using of washer & dryer are free. This is one of the best & comfortable motel we had stayed during our 19 days self drive in New Zealand. Will always remember the kind & friendy owner of this motel. May God bless you always......

The appartment was spacious and seemed to be newly renovated.We had everything we needed and it was clean. On the other side of theroad is a supermarket and Restaurants like kfc. You need a car to go tothe town center.
Review 22：Not really a motel room as advertised, when we arrived we were immediatly asked if we wanted to 'upgrade' to a motel room for $20 more. It was more like a backpakers room but with a bathroom.

Review 71：Each unit has been beautifully done up to a high standard. Driving by it reminded me of many of the cheap backpacking places I used to stay at, but that similarity ended up as soon as I entered the room. All recently refurbished, clean, modern and tidy. Really good value fo rmoney
Review 72：Didn't like being asked to pay the moment we walked in the door. Did not like the first impression of the outside of the motel when we drove up because it was very old looking. It gives a false impression because it is nice inside. There was no hair dryer and no shampoo.
Review 73：Quiet at night for sleep, centrally located with good shops over the road for food and alcohol. The unit was clean with new fittings all round the unit. Big bathroom. Plenty of storage for clothes.
Review 74：Soundproofing is probably non-existent and we had to ask the neighbours to be quiet at 10.30 p.m. They were obliging about it but the road noise continued until near mid-night. No chairs in the lounge, just two single beds to sit on to watch TV.

The owners are clearly still doing work on the property and I'm sure with their continuing investment it will continue to be better and better.

Review 95：There was no one in the office when we arrived and upon calling them had to wait for them to arrive as they were out. There was no note to advise is on their return. When we went to check out the office was locked and no one responded to the bell when pushed. A small couch wouldn't go astray nor would a permanent heater.
