Reviews for Casa Da Piedade
Review 1:very nice housekeeping person, rich breakfast with many different choices. The garden is a very peaceful and silent place to relax after a long hiking day.
Review 2:wifi connection not so good at the areas it was available at
Review 3:the beautiful garden and the stunning views on the mountains comfortable rooms with good beds in a very elegant historic house with a nice interior the house was in a peaceful quiet area
Review 4:Location by walking to the center was a bit far. Very small room and even with a small luggage the floorspace is totally full. A fan in the room would be appreciated in summertime. A bit grease to the doorhinges would be a good idea.
Review 5:Very friendly and wellcoming atmosphere, most beautiful house and garden and it was really nice to spend time relaxing in the garden. Wifi was working excelently. Beautiful view . Free parking.
Review 6:The bed in our room was really small: too short, not wide enough and the mattress was rock hard.
Review 7:The property is gorgeous, extremely well maintained and the pool is fab. The views to the mountains are stunning
Review 8:Very soft bed in the room. There was increased level of humidity in the room, but I don't think that it will be the same issue during summer months.
Review 9:Very good starting place for trips. Excellent view from the room and very beautiful garden.
Review 10:The matress was somewhat hard, I felt the resorts
Review 11:I liked the helpfull and friendly staf (Maria), the excellent breakfast, the Super Garden with pool, the private parking.
Review 12:Neither soup nor shampoo in the bathroom. Room service only once in three days. Upfront payment without seeing the room first.
Review 13:Home atmosphere and hospitality. Beatiful garden. Very friendly staff.
Review 14:No heating in rooms, as in many Madeira guesthouses. No - or very weak - WiFi in rooms, just in common areas. Town maybe 2 km away, so long walk or car needed.
Review 15:quite spacious room in a traditional Madeiran house, common areas with fireplace and WiFi, very helpful and friendly staff, good location right next to the fast road connecting the north and the south of the island, but at the same time quiet, because house is to the back behind a nice garden with a pool etc. Downstairs rooms with door to the garden and terrace (with chairs, table for every room). Picturesque town with many seaside restaurants, also lovely, very small Old Town.
Review 16:This lovely and well kept house and garden is in the very best location for visiting the north of the island. The beach strip in Sao Vicente is about all that is open on the north coast in winter, but the coastal cliffs and inland sera are gorgeous for driving.
Review 17:It was unseasonally cold while we were there, and the lack of heating in the bedroom meant it was chilly at night and towels didn't dry off. This wouldn't be a problem for most of the year.
Review 18:It's a beautiful house in a peaceful location a mile or two out of Sao Vicente. The gardens are lovely and the mountain views superb!
Review 19:Bed was too hard for me. Shame fire wasn't lit 3rd night as it was cold.
Review 20:Lovely to have fire going in attractive sitting room on 2 out of 3 nights. Beautiful garden, and Sao Vincente is a good position. Particulary appreciated the recommendations for Taberna Sao Vincente ( wonderful meals) and for route up to Ecumeada.
Review 21:- No restaurant, a little far from any dining options - Far from main village center, long walk - Poor wifi
Review 22:- Very beautiful hotel, great facilities - Wonderful garden, would be perfect in the summer
Review 23:A peaceful, lovely location, easy to get to. Beautiful, well cared for garden, a great place to rest after a hiking day. Nicely decorated and clean, spacious rooms. Very attentive owner, looks into special requests. Would definitely come back! Special thanks for the restaurant tip, best seafood in the taberna!
Review 24:neighbours dogs barking all night made it hard to sleep
Review 25:lovely building and gardens, very welcoming and friendly manager, a good breakfast, clean rooms overall atmosphere
Review 26:I was not able to use the wifi either upstairs or by the pool, apparently there was a problem with it in those locations during our stay.
Review 27:Casa da piedada, review date October 2014: Easy to find, lovely location and a real home from home feeling. Good sized rooms with en suite and shared use of kitchen, very handy for fridge, freezer and making drinks etc. Filling continental style breakfast.Rooms very clean and comfortable, easy access to the village by car and good sized car park. We recommend the Taberna Sao Vicente for meals. The lady who looks after the place did a great job of everything, from welcoming us at reception, to cooking and cleaning. Highly recommended.
Review 28:Nothing. Everything was perfect.
Review 29:A really great guesthouse, very clean and tastefully decorated. View from the room was breathtaking. Great breakfast. The lady taking care of the house is very kind and helpful, really made us feel at home. Excellent location for exploring the north coast of the island.
Review 30:The mountains around the house, the flowers, the swimmingpool, the house itself were...beautiful. The owner lady is so friendly. The breakfast was adorable with the other guests. You will need a car, but the north area of the island is the most beautiful, so from here you can easyly can reach everything. Funchal with a car is 30 minutes far away, the airport 45. To the Sao Vincente cave you can walk from here (10 minutes).
Review 31:We had very small double bed (and we are small people), very unconfortable. Maybe in other rooms it is better.
Review 32:The hotel is in a very nice location with nice garden, easy to reach many levadas and trips, beautiful view from the room. Very nice hotel manager, made lot of efforts to find food suiting our food allergy.
Review 33:Since it is a guest house, with the possibility for self catering, it would have been nice if the hotel could sell at least som pasta/rice to travellers arriving late. (Sao Vicente has not much to offer on the subject of food store)
Review 34:The atmosphere The interior The friendly manager The breakfast The garden (large, so you could hang out there with children) A very familiar feeling and spotless clean and the interior decoration of the guest house was just fantastic. A dream!
Review 35:Beds could have been firmer
Review 36:Beatiful garden, ambiance was good, nice breakfast

Review 38:Wifi in the rooms did not work well.
Review 39:Nice views, great pool and cosy design. Good service
Review 40:The wonderful garden, good taste ambiance, nice staff, good breakfast, incredible surroundings
Review 41:It was idyllic setting, comfortable beds/rooms, great location close to Sao Vincente and only a walk down the road to the volcanic caves!
Review 42:Too many ants
Review 43:Location, pool, garden, kitchen free to use, many TV channels in English, friendly staff

Review 54:unpeopled area
Review 55:price swimming pool, tidy garden environment with mountain breakfast
Review 56:The double bed was tool small
Review 57:The staff, the decor, amazing scenery and lovely pool
Review 58:Wifi needs some range extension.
Review 59:Sharing a table during breakfast with other travelers. Beautiful garden, marvelous rooms, nice staff.
Review 60:Walking into town ok, walking back all uphill! We are not morning people and at breakfast you sit at a communal table, everyone was very friendly but we struggled with having to make conversation before our first coffee!!
Review 61:Stayed for 4 nights in a superior double room on the first floor which gave us extra room, didn't have a balcony but the garden was beautiful with plenty of loungers, a clean pool and friendly cats. The housekeeper was lovely, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. Sao Vincente is an excellent location for exploring the west and central parts of the island. Rooms were freshly decorated and relaxing. We had reasonable Wi-Fi in our room however the booster was outside our door.
Review 62:Although the location is great, it is about a 15 minute walk from the town centre and the route to follow is not so clear the first time. Also, the wireless is mostly just in the communal areas. Despite those two things, I do recommend this hotel and have given it a high rating.
Review 63:Great staff, location and pretty room.
Review 64:The location is rather acentric in the island, so you've to combine it with a stay on the southern coast
Review 65:The location near the levadas in the north the lovely views Very friendly staff Lovely garden Good breakfast
Review 66:Despite the rainy and cold weather while we stayed there, it was really nice to be in this place, very cosy and peaceful, not to mention the breathtaking view from the room window. With the swimming pool and the beautiful garden it must be even more enjoyable with a better weather.
Review 67:Some heating in the evening as weather was cold.
Review 68:Lovely gardens to lounge in, pool for warmer months. Friendly staff. Clean room with comfortable beds. Great breakfast. Use of kitchen to make tea, coffee, or cook meals. Quiet location. Good walking close by.
Review 69:Nothing was wrong, i really liked this place.
Review 70:Beautiful place, views and so on. Building is oldy and charming, yet renovated and very good inside. Fireplace, mmm!! Woman, who met us and served breakfast, was very very welcoming and helpful. Also, breakfast was nice, had fruits. Also, kitchen was very helpful, we made a dinner inside ourselves :) TV has lots of channels, it was helpful during the rain :)
Review 71:-bit further away from Funchal (approx 70kms from the airport and approx 50kms from the capital city) -very slow wi-fi connection and availability only outside of the room -no dinner offered at the house -no heating/aircon -long waiting time to get some hot water -no proper organising the rental car pickup -scrambled eggs would have been nice to be included in the standard breakfast -two separate beds
Review 72:-quiet location -nice breakfast and home made jams -hospitality of the owners -very tidy and well groomed garden -nicely refurbished/renovated house
Review 73:absolutely cold, no heating in room, it was colder than outside. In January - this is really serious issue.
Review 74:really beautiful place, nice staff, great breakfast
Review 75:If you are looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of the city, this is a perfect choice. Charming garden with swimming pool, delicious breakfast, comfortable rooms, kitchen for cooking. And really great value for money.
Review 76:The building had a slight damp problem - this may be a reflection of 18th century or Madeiran architecture/ climate. Whilst this didn't bother us, this could be a problem for e.g. asthma sufferers.
Review 77:Tasteful decor. Good location. Wonderful mountain views, especially from the pool. Very friendly staff and great breakfasts. Very good value for money.
Review 78:It is better to have a car to reach the hotel.
Review 79:A colourful place, beautiful garden, tastful decoration and a very friendly lady in charge. We enjoyed our one night stay and wished to have stayed more. A very good breakfast :)
Review 80:Excellent localisation! Nice lady manager, always smiling and helpful. The very clean and comfortable bed. My compliments to Casa da Piedade,we had a pleasant stay! Jaro & Zuzana, Slovakia
Review 81:Nothing.
Review 82:The housekeeper couldn't have been more friendly & helpful. The owner was also charming and even brought the guests a cake! It was like staying in a comfortable country house. Using the kitchen was a bonus.
Review 83:This was a beautiful house in a lovely area. Beach not so good in Feb as quite windy, but lots of walking to do and fantastic dramatic scenery. We cooked a couple of times in the house kitchen but local restaurant served good home cooked food and host very friendly. All good value for money.
Review 84:We visited Casa Da Piedade in January and where the only couple atthisthe very romantic place. We liked the atmosphere of this place verymuch, I personally felt like in a house at the British countryside. There is beautiful garden that is definitely worth of seing and sittinga while just watching the flora. We made a trip to Paul de Serra fromthis place, it is not far and views were amazing. Also Sao Vicente isvery lovely place to stop by at the Madeira road trip. You will not bedisappointed!
Review 85:Casa Piedada is a nice casa/quinta. Sao Vicente is a wonderful location, with nice hikes.
