Reviews for Palacio Estoril Hotel Golf & Spa

Review 1:The room is old furnished. It is really hot and lack of fresh air inside of hotel.

Review 2:The location. The staffs are really friendly and helpful. Old-fashioned syle. Breakfast.

Review 3:The bed was too hard for us to sleep comfortably. The air conditioned is somewhat old fashioned, was too hot and bit loud. It could not be completely silenced during the day.

Review 4:Hotel has an impressive history, having hosted many heads of state. It looks and feels like the palaces of old. Has a great location, very warm and professional staff. The SPA is amazing with a few dry and steam saunas, several types water jets (some very strong) and different kinds of showers, big warm pool (30C) and a really nice round waterway with strong current. A well furnished breakfast (all the usual stuff plus an assortment of dried fruits, nuts and seeds, "presunto", salmon and even champagne!) on beautiful sumptuous room.

Review 5:The food was not very good, heard a few other complaints about it too from other guests. So much so we decided to eat outside the hotel on the last night. Also at breakfast it seemed difficult to get a poached egg that wasn't hard boiled.

Review 6:Fabulous classical hotel with real style. Whilst the hotel itself is great, the location gives an impression that the good times were long ago. Estoril is pretty depressing with no atmosphere, you need to go down to Cascais for a bit of life - around 20-25 mins walk down the promenade.

Review 7:Room was not as good as expected. While looking on to pool, it was small with very small bathroom. However having spoken to management, after a day we got a much better room.

Review 8:Wonderful location and overall atmosphere in the hotel

Review 9:Snack bar restaurant not so good. More expensive than main restaurant table d'hôtel menu too. Not a great selection of food and salads poor. No area on beach reserved for hotel guests. Expected that from a 5 star hotel..

Review 10:Very comfortable room (junior suite) and bed. Free wifi excellent and reliable even by the pool. Lovely pool but freezing cold, and doesn't get the sun until about 11 am. Lots of sun beds and pool towels available. Spotlessly clean hard working "pool boy" to thank for this. . Great spa and indoor pool. Helpful , pleasant staff throughout. Four seasons restaurant does excellent value for money table d'hôtel menu including local wine and water. Al la carte also available. Hotel transfers available for 60 euros in Mercedes . Worth the money for comfortable ride and knowledgable driver. Great towels and robes and slippers in room. Bar has a menu of 23 different gins and 3 types of tonic. Good location very close to train and bus station and lovely beach. Great promenade to walk to Cascais in about 25 minutes.

Review 11:This hotel is in a very good position just 5 minutes walk from the beach. The hotel itself is very beautiful and the staff are fantastic being attentive without being over bearing. The buffet breakfast is wonderful with a huge choice of food. I will definitely stay here again.

Review 12:Nothing which would prevent us from returning

Review 13:500m from train/bus stop Spotlessly clean Polite/friendly/helpfull staff Breakfast quality/quantity/choice Large room 528 with super top floor views

Review 14:The menu at the pool restaurant was very limited and the quality of food just average.

Review 15:Location was very good. Walking distance to Cascais where there are plenty of restaurants. Pool was a great size. It was very calm and relaxing on the hotel premises. Staff were very nice and focused on providing a good service. The suite we had was very spacious (room 515).

Review 16:Breakfast was only ok- would expect more from a 5 star. Estoril itself is very quiet.

Review 17:Beautiful pool area, nice staff, nice walk along the promenade into cascais. Would definitely return.

Review 18:Estoril is a very quiet town.

Review 19:Wonderful Hotel. First Class services and the staff were professional and enthusiastic. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

Review 20:Nothing to dislike!

Review 21:Fabulous hotel, room was spacious and well equipped and the staff are very attentive & helpful. Close to Lisbon via train for exploring, with lovely beaches & restaurants/bars nearby. Really enjoyed our 5 night stay

Review 22:the pool was beautiful we were close to the beach close to the train station at a comfortable location for exploring Lisbon Sintra Fatima all the surrounding communities

Review 23:Not enough staff at pool service , v slow service . Four seasons restaurant disappointing

Review 24:Lovely staff and very beautiful property.. Great spa and fab breakfast

Review 25:Hard beds Shop for papers not pen until 09.30! Cooked breakfasts were cold Four Seasons restaurant uncomfortable due to old fashioned over officious maitre d' and staff

Review 26:Stylish room with view and great sunlight aspect. Very helpful reception Easy parking Convenient for Banyan Tree Spa

Review 27:Booked a double room with seperate beds. Got a single room with a small bed. Bathroom very small combined with a toilet. Price was for a suite.

Review 28:The old fashoned ambiance and the breakfast

Review 29:The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The quality of accommodation was first class. The wifi was excellent. The setting was gorgeous. Excellent attention to detail.

Review 30:Wifi is poor, rooms a bit outdated, visitors are 65+ enjoying golf... spa closes at 21.30 but entree at 21! some staff didnt speak english very well

Review 31:Perfect breakfast, very friendly staff. Shared gym and spa are amazing

Review 32:The outdoor pool was closed (in all fairness it was January) the indoor pool was relaxing but not for real lap swimming.

Review 33:The staff was fabulous, the breakfast was the best we have ever experienced and came with the room, the spa pool was very therapeutic.

Review 34:We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We felt that breakfast was of an extremely high standard. The position of the hotel is excellent, not far from the train station and buses going in various directions. We went to Sintra and Lisbon.

Review 35:The hotel was full of pretentious guests who thought they were special.

Review 36:The location is perfect and the pool was wonderful.Excellent choice at breakfast

Review 37:The hotel exudes an early twentieth century charm. I was in town for a conference and booked a junior suite (overkill for me) which was elegant. The excellent carafe of complimentary port waiting for me was a nice touch.

Review 38:Would have liked a chef on view at breakfast to ask for omelettes and the like.

Review 39:Traditional style hotel updated with all the necessary modern-day requirements and beautifully maintained. Friendly helpful staff. Peaceful location yet just a short walk to the beach side promenade.

Review 40:The reception staff was cold and impersonal for such a luxurious hotel, with no welcome greeting or a smile . The reservation management staff is very incompetent. We booked a romantic package where we paid an extra 20€ For a bottle of champagne and a late check out until 4:00 pm. When we got there we got a normal room and the late check out wasn't possible. When we complained we got "upgraded" to a room that looked exactly like the one we had, but with the champagne bottle and a balcony. The late check out was only until 1:00 pm. Because the very aggressive receptionist told me that in order to have the 4:00 pm late check out we would have to have a lower category room. So we basically paid the extra fee for just the bottle, because everything was just the same and we felt cheated. The bar prices are very very expensive.

Review 41:The pool and spa were great. The room was comfortable and clean but could do with an update.

Review 42:Estoril is a bit quiet & easy going Pool drink prices a bit steep

Review 43:Excellent facilities, lovely grounds and pool area and friendly staff Estoril is quiet and easy going Free parking & WiFi a bonus Amazing breakfasts

Review 44:Décor in "4 Seasons" restaurant gloomy, awful, depressing - needs redesign. Sometimes we were seated there for breakfast For which it is emphatically unsuitable.

Review 45:Excellent room cleaning service - linen changed every day . Breakfast food choices and .service superb. Fantastic bright & beautiful old world dining areas. Pool area uncrowded clean and comfortable.

Review 46:Leaving!

Review 47:Everything was just perfect. The service was fantastic. Staff were delightful Jose who was in charge of the pool area was dedicated to his job and did it with pride, he was the best!

Review 48:Amazing hotel, very friendly and great service. Fantastic location for beach as well as a great pool! Breakfast was also very good - buffet selection of hot and cold food

Review 49:Nothing at all

Review 50:Great size pool, more than enough seats so no reserving! Attentive staff, access to spa for free, wifi was free {sounds silly but now a days some charge}... Breakfast was incredible, room was basic but thats what we paid for. We would 100% go back to this hotel

Review 51:with so many gorgeous rooms, salons, and ballrooms, facing the swimming pool and the gorgeous light of Estoril, the F&B management placed the breakfast in a room with practically no window, no view, too many tables together. But staff was kind enough to accept to serve me in one of the terraces. Kudos to the most accomodating staff I've seen in a long time. New generation learning with older generation.A win for the guests.

Review 52:courtesy of staff, kindness, beautiful facilities...sort of transported to another time. Love the place and have scheduled to return in September.

Review 53:Palacio Estoril, is the best hotel in which I’ve ever stayed. The buffet breakfast is superb, the staff is not just truly nice, but also super professional and well educated. The facilities are extraordinary; particularly the SPA in the wellness centre. It is totally worth it what you pay for this wonderful hotel. I definitely want to come back, and I will.

Review 54:Booked and paid for a deluxe room. Actually got a shoe box. We had the move the furniture to make room for 2 of us ! Bathroom small. Shower was incredibly small and a hazard. Breakfast frequently cold. Nobody cleared away plates. Management at reception could not care less. Absolutely disinterested. Unbelievable how a property and service could deteriorate so much in one year Never again.

Review 69:Fabulous Hotel

Review 70:The hotel has that five star classic experience from the staff the elegance of the hotel. Everyone was very attentive and amazingly friendly.

Review 71:Beautiful building

Review 72:Drinks at bar and poolside exorbitant. Small Diet Coke poolside 5€.

Review 73:Real 5 star hotel. Treated like royalty. Beautiful hotel for a treat

Review 74:The noise of the refrigerators at ground floor. Avoid room 110.

Review 89:nothing if you like a return to times past

Review 90:very attentive highly professional staff

Review 91:Everything was very good from views, room, pool area and staff. Door man and concierge team were very helpful and friendly.

Review 92:Good location - excellent facilities - glad to return some day.

Review 93:Fantastic welcoming employees and wonderful location that is why family owned hotels are so much better than bland corporate hotel chains

Review 94:Fine Dining restaurant not really that good. Plenty of options for eating out up the road in Caiscais

Review 95:Excellent facilities

Review 96:Beautiful hotel

Review 97:The staff were amazing and so helpful. The food was delicious and the hotel was very regal, fit for a queen.

Review 103:Super accomodation. Breakfast was something else. Brilliant spa complex .

Review 104:Excellent service. Attention to details. A grand hotel the old way.

Review 105:Having to move to another hotel because of flood

Review 106:We were looked after very well after a shaky start

Review 107:Nearby nightclub kept us awake a few nights.

Review 108:Luxury and comfort Great pool and spa Location also great

Review 109:Pool was freezing, wifi poor

Review 110:Staff, food, wine, beds

Review 111:Very - very soft pillows on the bed.

Review 112:Only a minor thing but it would be nice to see the pool attendant clean up towels left on chairs by people who have departed rather that see them lie there and having to search for empty ones.

Review 113:The room was large and comfortable, the bathroom wonderful and storage for clothes fabulous. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the grounds, pool etc lovely. A pleasure to get back to thee hotel after a day out exploring the region.

Review 114:Please read above as this is a great hotel with wonderful service. My only concern when booking was re the noise re disco from wedding receptions. As we were there on a Saturday evening a wedding reception did take place with a disco that went on until gone 2am at least. We were on the first floor pool side - with doors closed and aircon on could hear a faint hum of the music. At one point the door of the banquet room was open just for a few mins and the noise was awful but and an important but closed after a couple of mins and sound just the distant hum. My husband heard nothing - I'm a light sleeper but it was just a faint noise. I'm sure the hotel are aware of the disturbance that would be caused with the doors of the banquet room open so kept closed. Great place for a wedding!

Review 115:If you want to stay in a solid classic non-stuffy hotel with great service then this is the hotel for you. Have been to this area before with our two teenagers but just wanted three nights of good service -relaxing time and it's just what we got. Had the "romantic" room option - good size room with balcony - pool view on first floor - good solid room - yes decor a bit 90's but important things like pillows, bedding robes all good quality -nice Molton brown lotion, shower wash , shampoo ( no conditioner) constantly replaced as you would expect. Of course pool towels provided and also beach towels. Pool area tranquil and lush greenery - lovely attentive pool man who has been there for years as have a number of the staff (over 50 years some of them). Take real pride in their work. As mentioned service impeccable. Breakfast good - divine scrambled eggs and smoked salmon - good buffet and decent cup of tea! Room service outstanding - three times a day for us - which meant constant supply of dry clean towels and always returning to spotless room - all done when we were out as if by magic as it should be in a hotel like this. Well worth taking a wonder around as lots of history and beautiful old grand rooms. My husband travels all over the world re work and a lot in the Middle East staying in high tech grand 5 star hotels with fancy gadgets - if you want that then this is not the hotel for you but if you want to stay somewhere that service and comfort matter in a grand old building then this is the place.

Review 116:That the pool was closed in the spa as had looked forward to using it that was disappointing.

Review 117:Loved the staff especially Sergio in the bar was excellent and very friendly. Our rooms were fantastic we were lucky enough to have two rooms with an interconnecting sitting room. We will definitely be back ;)

Review 118:Nothing to comment about here!

Review 119:The Staff were exceptionally friendly The standards were high, both in terms of comfort and service. The pool man took pride in his job, assisting everyone. The staff in the breakfast room were helpful and friendly Nothing was too much trouble. It was grand without being too formal.

Review 120:Nothing to dislike

Review 121:What a bargain; classical opulence for only $170 Euros. Special praise for Mario, the Concierge with great historical perspective. Dining Room excellent. Bartenders well informed about local wines Great time had by this history buff.
